Very good service with DR Handy. They are timely, professional and courteous. Their Master Plumber Juan is impressive in the depth of his knowledge and expertise; he came on site he fixes others poor work and points out (accurately) where you need to be in the know regarding existing vulnerabilities. We will probably never call another person for any future work. The company also does appliance repair and other household needs. So you might just never call anyone else. Win! read more

I recently hired Del and his team to paint my kitchen walls and install a faux brick backsplash. I've hired Del many times to do work on my condo, and he never disappoints! They worked closely with me to pick the right brick panels and paint. The faux brick tiling was a great cost-saving alternative for the small area to be tiled. Del and Luis were hands-on, professional, and accommodating to the special tasks required for this type of tiling. They ensured that I was 150% happy, returning to add features to secure the tiles better, improve the look, and add additional paint. I'm very happy with the result. My kitchen looks more stylish, with a clean, sleek finish. Thanks, Del! read more

Update: as soon as I saw that Del replied to my comment, I called again. This time someone answered. I felt better after she told me I wasn't the first customer who had this issue (would have been nice to see that in the reply so it didn't look like I was having a problem, but so be it). So yes, it must have been a technical issue with DR's voicemail. Hopefully I can have a positive experience with their services in the future, as I have lots of home improvement projects coming up. Changing the rating for now. Original: I would love to leave a positive review, but I have called and left a message twice, and no call back. Ended up finding someone else for the job. read more

We are prepping our house for sale and needed some woodwork repaired (my dog decided it was a good chew toy). I contacted DR Handy Services and they sent David, who did a bang-up job of removing and replacing the damaged woodwork. It looks beautiful now. I just wish I'd had this done sooner so I could have enjoyed it longer. Whenever I need anything done at my house, my first call is to Del Ruiz and his team. I know they will do the job well and for a fair price. read more

Updating this because I have been calling Del/DR Handy since 2017 for a variety of projects. Nice to have an honest, easy to work with person to call for various projects. Del has mounted TVs, done electric work, hung light fixtures and mirrors...Highly recommend! read more

We moved into a new home a few months ago and needed two TVs hung - one above a brick fireplace and another in a different room on drywall. I reached out to Del via email for a quote. He was quick to respond and provided clear estimates for the work and the types of mounts they offer (which are also very reasonably priced). He and Donte came and installed both devices, and concealed cords on the one placed on drywall. They were kind, easy to work with, and their work was exactly what we wanted! They also had us confirm where we wanted the TVs placed before drilling any holes and they cleaned up any dust made from installing. We are so happy with everything they completed for us. We will definitely use them for other services in the future. Highly recommend! read more

They did a beautiful job installing our new bathroom sink, quickly modifying the sink interior's drawers to work with our plumbing. You can't even tell they changed anything at all. Very efficient. Great communication and problem solving. read more

I met Del in about 2014 and he's done several jobs for me, he and his guys are all super nice, responsive and do the job right and carefully the first time. We've done TVs, fans, electrical work, etc. I like that it's super efficient to schedule and to pay, all electronic, clear receipts, etc. They are trustworthy too, so if you aren't on site you know it will still be taken care of. Thanks Del, Chauncey and team! read more

BEWARE PRICE WILL INCREASE & THEY WANT 50% DEPOSIT UP FRONT: Contractor requested 50% deposit over a week before the job. Contractor showed up late to the job and asked for money immediately. He brought two "day laborers" who did not speak English. Contractor then informed us that he would not be cleaning up at the end of each day for a 3 day project. We told him that was ridiculous and Contractor said "ok, I will clean up each day for an extra fee." Beware, if you want to hire day laborers you can do it much cheaper on your own. Additionally the estimate they give will increase. We believe the contract hassled us for the deposit so he could then hold us hostage & charge us more. We will NEVER use this company again read more

Had the owner and another employee out to change fans and light fixtures in my new place. They were efficient and meticulous, did a great job. They also took down a cabinet and some shelves the previous owners had left that I didn't want. I will be using them again! read more

1st time using them and will definitely use again. Had some minor electrical issues that were sorted out quickly by tech. Very professional, courteous, knowledgeable and fair pricing. Everything you could want. Thanks guys! read more

We had a great experience with Del on a TV mounting so called his company for an electrical issue and are so glad we did! JC and Wily called to ask if it was ok to arrive a bit early (of course) and took care of replacing a doorbell transformer, two chimes and replacing some wire that was causing the doorbell to short out. Extremely prompt, professional, and competent work. They were done in just under an hour and the price was exceedingly fair. Communication and invoicing was also a breeze. Just an excellent overall company! read more

I wish I could leave a 10-star review because Del and his incredible team deserve it. I live in a condo townhouse where one of the unit owners has a gas leak, which caused all of gas in the building to be shut off. Because I rent to two tenants, I couldn't wait a few weeks to get the gas fixed and turned back on, so I had to switch my gas oven over to an electric one ASAP. Unfortunately, I didn't have an electric hookup so I needed one added ASAP... and my electrical box was a few dozen feet (through the kitchen, around a halllway) from where the outlet was needed. Not to worry -- Del got me on the schedule within a DAY for an estimate, and came in a few hundred below other estimates I received from other companies. Between the fair pricing and the great reviews on Yelp, I figured Del would be a safe bet. Boy was I right! Del then had his guy out the FOLLOWING day to complete the work. They caused minimal damage to the wall despite several obstacles and were able to drop the electrical line BEHIND the drywall, saving me thousands in repairs to drywall and tile work. Then, despite warning Best Buy about the stairs and the narrow hallway/doorway, and confirming with them the gas oven did not need to be disconnected, the Best Buy delivery guy refused to bring the new electric oven up without taking off the door first and disconnecting the oven. Because I was out of town for work, I wasn't able to be there and do it myself, but Del's incredible team offered to take off the door for me AND disconnect the oven for FREE. They even put the door back on after the Best Buy guy left, again for free! Additionally, Del's team was able to work within the electrical guidelines I wanted (50amp vs. 40amp). I was also concerned that my tenants wouldn't be too happy to have holes in their walls, so Del was also able to schedule me quickly for the drywall repair. The work was flawless and I am so happy I chose Del and his team to do this work. There's no doubt I will be using them in the future! read more

I first contacted DR Handy Services back in Dec '18 to have the handle on my worn storm door replaced. Luis was dispatched and took the old handle to Home Depot to try and find a replacement. Although they did not have one similar, Luis was able to find one on Amazon that he believed would work. Once the handle was delivered, he was able to install it successfully and it has been working just fine ever since. Speed up to this week (Oct '19) when the power on one side of my home went out suddenly. In the past when this has happened, I immediately check the circuit panel to make sure everything is in proper alignment and make the adjustment if not. On this occasion, everything seemed normal, so I figured that it must be a deeper problem. Therefore, I called Dr Handy Svcs, explained the scenario and requested that someone come out to look at the problem. Before taking my word on the issue and scheduling an appointment, Del(?) instructed me to turn off and unplug my computers and switch everything on the panel off completely and switch it back on (even though it appeared normal) as there could be something that is in a neutral state--and by doing so, this may solve the problem. I did as instructed and sure enough, all of the power was back to normal which saved me time (and perhaps money had a less knowledgeable, or perhaps less honest company had been contacted). I very much appreciate the professionalism, integrity and expertise of Del --Dr Handy Services and team. read more

A few weeks ago, my smoke detector (circa 1997-ish) starting beeping at 2am. I live in a condo on the top floor with vaulted ceilings. The brainiac builder decided it was a good idea to install the smoke detector at the apex (at least 12 feet high) instead of on the wall at a normal height. Anyway, the best I could do was balance a folding ladder on a table and climb the kitchen counter (each action compounding the stupidity and danger) and rip the smoke detector out of the ceiling. I ended up with loose live wires and no warning system, but the beeping stopped. I went on Yelp to find an electrician who would come out for what, to them, is a small job, but to me, it's extremely important. Enter Dr. Handy. Del and another electrician came out on Saturday morning. Del even went to Home Depot for me because some cheapskate put a base model in the box of the expensive one I purchased. They installed two new smoke / carbon monoxide detectors for me. They tested the system and made sure the detectors "spoke" to one another. Very professional, cleaned up everything and finished within an hour. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Handy!! read more

Requested help for two jobs: taking down an old/installing a new dining room chandelier and installing a Ring camera. What I got was... A highly qualified, experienced, and efficient electrician, who provided skilled services; caring customer service, and wonderfully useful instructions and suggestions! I was left with a great feeling that my tasks were done properly, effectively, and efficiently! Also, Del Ruiz was warm; kindly engaging, and shared a few smiles and chuckles! I would not hesitate to call on him or any of his technicians again for any needed tasks! read more

I can see why the reviews are so positive. Del and his team do really great work. They mounted a 70' tv with cord concealment and did some electrical work in the house we just bought. Just terrific customer care and service. I recommend this to everybody. You will love the help.

I got an awesome new TV a couple of weeks ago and thought about mounting it myself. Then my wife reminded me that the last time I tried to do something myself, I installed a screen door upside down. So I called DR and connected with the owner, Del. This guy is awesome. DC native, nice guy, and an expert when it comes to all things electric -- including installing TVs. He is so thorough and surgical when he works, it's really a sight to see. We texted back and forth and he gave me a price and told me when he'd be by to do the work. Then he texted me when he was about 1/2 hour out and showed up on time and ready to go. His installation was meticulous, and the end result is amazing. In fact, I'm about to text him to do a bunch of other stuff around the house that I'd rather not do incorrectly and then pay to have someone come fix it later. Sometimes you have to set aside your manhood and call a professional. And when you do, call these guys. read more

I wanna first start off by saying please believe all the great reviews. Let me first start off and say the owner's attention to detail and desire to install perfection is very calming. Knowing he is installing and offering you the service he would do in his own home. Del came on a holiday and did the same job he would've done on any other day. He is well prepared for whatever obstacles he runs into. Is very professional and overly communicates. I had 4 TVs installed and he did them all in one day on a holiday and my family loves them. I'm actually excited to get him to do some other work in my home. I will be reaching out to him for a lot of projects I have in my home. Great company and even better owner. 5 read more

After reading reviews, DR Handy Services was my first choice. Del responded quickly to a Friday email request for service, scheduled for the following Tuesday. Had a few minor jobs: install a battery security doorbell, light bulbs in two locations that needed a ladder to reach (I can no longer reach comfortably), and repair 2 non-working light sockets (1 outside, 1 inside). JC and Wily were outstanding, very friendly, and professional. The cost was very reasonable. Will definitely call DR Handy Services for my next repairs. Thank you!! read more

Del and his team offer such great customer service and a wide variety of expertise. He was able to get us moved into a new house while I was traveling and couldn't be there as well as do a lot of the home improvement fixes necessary before we moved in. I can't begin to tell you how great Del Ruiz is! This is the second job he has done for me and it looks amazing. He was great about accommodating my schedule, so reasonably priced and his work is great. He is methodical and careful, following all instructions. He and Luis just installed a murphy bed and cube closet storage for my spare room make-over. He is very courteous, picking up after himself and asking to clean-up. (I took care of it myself, tho). I would absolutely recommend his service to everyone that needs a handy-man around the house. As many projects as I have, I am SURE I will be calling him again! BTW, in a previous job, he hung both of my big screen TVs PERFECTLY. read more

DR Handy Services exceeded my expectations for a handyman. We had a big job covering many items from exterior paint, gutter and shutter repair, door installation to interior items like painting, drywall repair and minor electrical work. David and his crew were more than qualified to do all of these projects. The quality was top notch, they were good honest people and they finished the job on time. They left the job site(my home) very clean. David always came with a positive attitude and a wealth of knowledge. He was wonderful to work with and I would highly recommend him. read more

Absolutely amazing! Del and Dante came out like true professionals and installed our Ring Floodlight within 3 days of making an inquiry. I would highly recommend Dr Handy Services for all your home needs! Will definitely be contacting them again for future jobs and trust me you should too, they will not disappoint! read more

When it comes to minor house repairs, my husband and I can usually give it a go. However, when it comes to wiring and installing ceiling fans... directly over where we sleep... hiring a professional seemed like the right move. We were able to purchase ceiling fans on our own, and then have Del come out for the installation. He quoted us almost exactly the amount of time he needed, he showed up right on time, and he communicated well throughout. Additionally, he was receptive to additional questions I had regarding home repairs (completely unrelated the service he was providing). Del is personable, and fun fact, he is completely re-doing his house by himself. While I can only speak to his work as an electrician, I will hire Del for any home repairs, no questions asked. read more

Del of Dr. Handy did a great job getting our new house ready for occupation! We had him and his father install a new light fixture, add two new gfci electrical outlets (where there weren't any before), add a gate closure, and add a curtain rod. He did the work over the span of two days mainly because we kept adding things for him and his dad to do! Del was constantly working, suggesting less invasive options, and even picked up a lot of the supplies we requested from Home Depot beforehand. He was respectful of our space, our other contractors, and to my husband and I. We do plan on using Dr Handy in the future for our handyman and tv mounting needs!
