Duncan and his crew are the most competent group of professionals anyone could ever hope for. Any single member of this team could carry an entire construction crew on their own, but together they are simply magic. Skilled and experienced beyond expectation, I don't think there was a single "impossible" problem with our project that could stand up to the A-Team Duncan has assembled. And you can tell that Duncan respects the people he works with and treats them well; I've never met a crew that works so well together, even the subcontractors seemed excited to be a part of the team. Our home is a split level craftsman, built by a Boeing engineer in the 50s and damaged by fire in 2020. Because of the fire, all the work we had done was permitted and inspected, which means that everything the crew touched had to be brought up to modern standards despite having been built by an aerospace engineer 70 years ago. I don't think most contractors would have touched our project with a 10 foot pole. But Duncan, our foreman Mike, and the rest of the team were such consummate professionals that the few minor issues that came up were all resolved quickly, with barely any delay to the rest of the project. Genuine, quality work, too, without a single sketchy compromise or quirky short cut. The kind of beautiful, elegant solutions you only seem to find in old-school craftsmanship anymore. An honestly unbelievable team of amazing individuals with a shared depth of institutional knowledge and experience that allow them to make the impossible possible. And flexible enough to make it all happen on our budget, which is frankly as impressive as the craftsmanship. A huge shout-out to Mike, Phil, Angel, Arron, Brett and the rest of the team, especially Kim at the home office for all her efforts coordinating, sourcing materials, scheduling, and keeping everything on track. Our project could easily have spiraled out and ballooned in cost, but Duncan's incredible team kept the entire project running smoothly. I couldn't be happier with my experience with DR Construction. I was dreading looking for a contractor for my new home remodel after hearing horror stories from friends and family. I interviewed several contractors and I knew after meeting Duncan that he was my guy. My initial walk through with him was super helpful and made me feel confident about moving forward. He was punctual, knowledgable, personable, honest, and realistic with his advice and what he was offering. He hires subcontractors to do the work he doesn't specialize in and has a great network of people he works with consistently. First week of the job, he had a calendar white board put up so we could communicate and so his team and I could keep track of the timeline and what was going on. The team is on time every day, really wonderful to work with, and they even do safety briefings every Monday morning. :) Duncan's team work Mon-Thurs 10 hour days and Duncan makes sure to be on the job site at some point everyday to make sure things are going smoothly. I purchased a beautiful 1957 mid century home and remodeled the entire interior. The house had weird unusual challenges at every turn, but the guys handled them all with grace and kept us all laughing at every turn. Of course it took longer than expected and of course it went over budget, but that's to be expected with any remodel done right. This team is positive, hard working, and SHOULD be the standard for all contractors out there. First pleasant experience I've had with a contractor and their crew. And I've used many over the years (siding and deck replacement, kitchen and bath remodel, new windows/doors, exterior painting). I was skeptical working with a smaller team, that billed on a time and materials basis. But the smaller team allowed for clear, quick communication, direct negotiations and ease of tracking what was being done, when. I also feel I paid for exactly what I received (where other 'estimates' with companies came in at 1/3 more than my final cost with DR construction). I'm in the final stage of my project (we cut 5 stairwell pony walls down over 3 feet and repaired the drywall). All that's left is cable railing installation. Their honesty, professionalism, respect for each other (and my home) punctuality and tidiness went a long way with me. Never did I suspect they were doing something they weren't experienced enough to do well. I was always able to catch a team member by email or text - and got responses back quickly, generally within the hour. Even on weekends. Thanks Duncan and team! I was so very pleased to be put in touch with Duncan and his crew during my bathroom addition. My all-purpose handyman had made some framing mistakes, which were only discovered by the electrician who arrived to do the next step in the construction process. He put in a call to Duncan, who was able to work me in two days later!! (My handyman was by then booked solid for the next six weeks.) Duncan, James & Rickey just finished putting the most beautiful patio cover on our house. It is absolutely beautiful. Even better than we hoped it would be. What impressed me most was Duncan's desire to make it exactly what we wanted. Started off well until it came to schedule the work. This was a drywall repair that needed to be completed within 6 weeks before kitchen cabinets were installed. I kept getting a day that is was happening then being put off till next week then next week. This issue I was told was that it was going to cost him money and he was waiting for gaps in a schedule. With one week to go before kitchen cabinets arrived to be installed I had to go find someone else and pay a premium to get the work done immediately. Duncan does not keep his word about performing work, is not honest and puts money and profit before his commitments to his customers. read more
