Not only did Dan flake on us, but he clearly doesn't take responsibility either. We all mess up, but why offer up a fake reason for why you didn't show up after the review? You should own it and learn from it. Therefore, fellow reviewers, I leave you the text of the email from him and let you decide the real reason: he didn't show up because I hadn't texted him my address yet OR he needed to drop friends off at the airport. Sorry man, you're deliberately being misleading. Not cool.

Yes, I am available that Saturday morning (9/1) if that works for you. Can you meet on the earlier side?
Aug 21, 9:30pm (Dan)
Great - does 9-10 work?
Aug 21, 9:40pm (Me)
Yep I've got you blocked for 9-10am thx!

Sep 1, 9:32am (Me) -- 30 minutes past our meeting time
Hi Dan, are you still able to meet this morning?
Sep 1, 9:33am (Dan)
Michael - I apologize, I got stuck taking some friends to the airport today.
Can we reschedule for tomorrow?
Sep 1, 9:36am (Me)
No. We blocked this time out for you almost two weeks in advance, and you could've given us some notice this morning. Frankly if this is what we can expect from a remodel from you, then we'll go with someone else.

Okay, that's fine.
[UPDATE 9/20/18 - 9:06am]
Since posting, Dan originally put the blame on me for not sending him my address yet. Now he changes his story as I've posted the email chain above, and tries to make me sound unreasonable because he was already late by 30 minutes (with no intention of showing up) because he had to drop friends off at the airport.
Geez, I had to follow up with YOU to see if you were even going to show up. I get that things come up, but you should let people you know that you won't be able to make the meeting rather than flake completely, then attempt to go ad hominem and say I have unreasonable reviews. I don't think anybody in their right mind likes getting stood up, which is exactly what you did. Had you just emailed me when you found out you couldn't make it, I would have happily rescheduled.
The more you try to respond and weasel out of taking responsibility, the worse you sound. You're right, I'm "adamant" about holding a person accountable, especially if I'm about write some big checks for a renovation. Your responses show me that you blame the client for issues. read more
