Let's be honest - there is nothing fancy about DP Dough. They're just off of ASU's campus, open all the time, and offer cheap n good bar-esque food when you need it.... like for a delicious n carbolicious cheat meal of any combo of a calzone, wings, cheesy bread, etc etc I've ordered thru Postmates/Uber eats before and also done the due diligence to order ahead on the phone for pickup. I actually prefer the pickup option more nowadays as it's quicker than having to wait 20 minutes for someone to slowly drive the whopping 1.5 mi between my house and the restaurant. Their employees are always super kind and it's appreciated. More often than not they've thrown in an extra garlic butter sauce or ranch when I've done carry out. Wouldn't necessarily exclude the option to dine-in since they have a Galaga/PacMan arcade machine, but that's about the only appealing thing in that mini mall area. Go for one of the local calzones - my personal pref is the Sun Devil Zone or the End Zone, either with garlic sauce instead of marinara (which sometimes tastes wierd, maybe a little too sweet for me). Wings aren't too special but they hit the spot. The pesto and cheese stix are to die for. Praise be for DP! read more

I would rate it 4 and a half stars. Delicious vegan food. Like seriously amazing. Cant stop thinking about the food. BUT they stopped making the vegan cookie so no vegan dessert other than the Ben and Jerry's ice cream which is over priced. Service good but not great. Order taker was chill but ripped shirt and had to ask the other person if they had each item we ordered. Vegan mac is bomb. Cheese tots were crispy and had delicious melted cheese in top. Their homemade vegan ranch was fresh and flavorful. The marinara sauce for the calzone was fresh and delicious. The vegan calzone was crispy and had a nice flavor. The mock Italian sausage was delicious in the calzone. read more

I'm greatly offended that nobody has recommended this place to me since I've moved to Arizona. I doordashed and I was craving a calzone, i randomly chose this place and my calzone was great. I stumbled upon this place after getting a coupon and seeing how close it was to my apartment. After my first calzone, I quickly became a repeat customer. Of things I love most in the world, calzones rank pretty high. Within a few weeks, the owner knew my order (even when I forgot it) and who I was, because he is just that personable. They're speedy (even when they're piled with orders), the calzones are DELICIOUS, and they always have great customer service! This will ALWAYS be my top choice for calzones. The Chick-N-Bacon Zone (with extra ranch), and the Bro Zone are so good!! Unfortunately, I am moving to the other side of the valley, but I will still make the drive out for my calzones. read more

Vegan dream. After hanging out at Peoria stadium I was able to swing by here and see some friends. There is an extensive menu for peeps who don't eat animal products. The freezer behind the register is stacked with both regular and vegan Ben and Jerry's pints which is a huge win (just note the price is high). They were out of chik'n so I had to go with the beyond sausage. I ended up getting a twilight zone and adding spinach and mushrooms. The veggie additions were skimpy but the daiya cheese and beyond meat made up for it. The dough was perfect. The calzone came with a spicy marinara sauce. Unfortunately they do not make the coconut vegan chocolate chip cookies anymore due to cost but it is the thought that counts. The guy behind the counter was super helpful and went through the menu with each group that came in. If I lived out here this would be my jam every week- I would definitely need stretchy pants. I ate half and save the rest for my breakfast before heading home. The store was clean and there were cute little signs etc. all around. Next year I will be back! read more

Pretty good place, especially for vegans/vegetarians! They make several of their regular calzones vegan with vegan cheeses/meats. The ones I've had have all been really good! They also have incredible, warm, gooey cookies that I love to indulge in. Prices are good as well, with the vegan options being more expensive but still reasonable. read more

Not only we're these tots cold and stale but they were also barely there. When arriving to the store all the employees were sitting and watching tv, I wish they would've used that time to make us fresh tater tots instead of these that are clearly leftovers. read more

Food was meh, college food for more than college pricing... Got the Roni, Buffalo dippers, garlic sticks: Roni: under cooked dough, tasted like a mushy hot pocket. Dippers: undercooked (notice a theme?) idk how you under cook boneless wings but they were basically room temp and soggy. Big L. Garlic sticks: this is the only one they got right but you get most of the garlic flavor from the dipping sauce. The sticks themselves could use some garlic. Ordered food for a friend's party. Wish I chose dominos instead. First of all I have 2 compliments: 1. They have vegan options 2. The Cashier/Cook was extremely nice 3. They're open late Con's for sure out way the Pros. 1. This place is filthy inside 2. The Cashier/Cook guy was NOT washing his hands to wearing gloves 3. He was touching; phone, the ipad and his hair (again not washing after). 4. His listening skills need to be improved 5. He was overwhelmed with orders (there needs to be more employees!!!) 6. THE CHEESE STIX BARELY HAD ANY CHEESE!!!! It was burnt and 90% bread. Yukkk I'll never order from here again, I tried but sorry no thanks. read more

If I could rate this place zero stars I would. I have never experienced such a racist encounter at any restaurant until I stepped foot into your establishment. After I ordered my food, an employee ( a middle age bald white man) started talking to me and my friend about how he would hate to have dark skin because tattoos do not show up on dark skin and dark skin comes with a lot of issues. I was surprised that an employee would have a conversation like that with a black customer so I tried to educate him about the racist statements he was making. Eventually he changed topics, but it was still racist. This time he started talking about birth control and how it was created by the KKK to keep black people from populating. I explained to this employee that I was uncomfortable and that I felt like this conversation was inappropriate. He in turn offered me marijuana, saying that he had "the hook up" at a dispensary To recap, the only customer service that I received at your restaurant was two very uncomfortable racist conversations and an offer to buy discounted marijuana. I left your restaurant feeling traumatized, disgusted, and disappointed. As a supervisor, I am asking you to address this atrocious behavior so other customers do no have to have the same experience. Likewise, I think it would be beneficial to explain to your staff that it is illegal for people under 21 years old to possess marijuana. Btw, the person who was having this conversation with me is the manager of the store. I would highly recommend that you reconsider having him be the one to be setting an example for your staff because he clearly lacks professionalism. I would like to request a full refund!!! read more

Staying in town and placed an online order at 10:55pm. Ordered some buffalo wings which were a little bland on flavor, but the bleu cheese dipping sauce was good. Made our own calzone, mozzarella and parmesan cheese with pepperoni and pineapple (my favorite). It was AMAZING. The crust was perfect and ingredients tasted great. BUT. I have to complain that it took just over an hour for delivery. Like.... come on. But would definitely eat here again in the future! read more

We always order from this place on postmates. I really enjoy the food but my wife can't really handle the cheese. Turns out, if you dont order on postmates, they have vegan cheese options and they also sell dairy free ice cream. I'm not vegan so it doesn't matter if they have meat here, but the dairy free cheese is an amazing option if you're lactose intolerant. The wings and tots are also amazing. Good stuff. read more

Was in Tempe for work and spotted this place in the morning before they opened. Thought I've haven't had a good calzone in a long time. Ordered the Italian Zone for pickup that night. The main ingredient in Italian style calzones is ricotta cheese and none of the chain stores have it in theirs. So when I saw it on the menu, I knew this place knows what's what. They said 15 - 20 mins when I called ahead and even though DP's was super busy that night, it was ready when I showed up. The dough is authentic and legit. The mozzarella, ricotta and all the meats was perfect, but the marinara is bomb!!! Glad I got the extra sauce and the next time I'm in Tempe, I'll be back. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place !!! They have so many yummy vegan options including cookies and ice cream and ranch seriously a vegan DREAM ! Today we called in our order and they said 10 minutes and sure enough it was ready so quick ! The staff there works so hard and they are so kind every time ! I wanted to give special thanks for Truman and Kelly for their excellent service and attitudes with us when we came in ! I was having a really hard day and they just treated us with so much kindness. I want to love this place but it's just not very good. I think they use frozen dough or something. It just lacks good flavor. they have a lot of options and I have tried a few different options but it just doesn't help. I enjoy a calzone at Spinato's Pizzeria much more and it's quicker even with table service. I think DP puts a lot of care into their restaurant. The effort is there it's just the recipes they are using are not great. With that being said they do have the best tater tots I have ever had. There isn't anything wrong with this place. I've been there a bunch of times and I'm sure I'll go back. I just don't love the food. That's my personal opinion. I'm sure there are people who disagree. read more

I really wanted to round up for having a vegan menu, but I could not. My eggplant calzone had no flavor, no salt and was not enjoyable. My friend had wings and meat calzones and a salad. Wow. I'm vegan and haven't had a calzone in a long time, and this place blew my mind. So many vegan options, and they were all delicious. We got the vegan stix, chicken bacon ranch calzone , and the pepperoni calzone. The homemade vegan ranch was so spot on, I could have drank it. Vegan review: My wife and I were so excited when we found out they have vegan calzones. The selection they had was fairly large and had fun options. The owner or manager was extremely helpful and super nice. He explained menu, very friendly and showed enthusiasm about their options. My wife had the buffalo ranch and I had the sun devil. Both were awesome and we look forward to trying all other flavors. We were so stuffed but very tempted to get the Ben and Jerry's ice cream but we were too full! I would recommend DP's as it is delicious, friendly and reasonably priced. We look forward to going back!! read more

The food is great and came out fast but they made my brothers order wrong and when they went to remake it the way he ordered if THEY JUST REMADE THE WRONG ORDER. there was only 2 other people in there with us and everyone else got what they ordered except for him. we kept all 4 calzones but none of them were the ones he ordered. read more

I stopped in yesterday because I had a coupon for BOGO calzones (carry out only). The calzones were huge and delicious! We ordered the BBQ chicken and chicken parmazone. I signed up for their loyalty program-you put in your phone number each time and (I think) after 10 visit, you get a free calzone! Fast, friendly service too! read more

In the mid 1980's a dude and his mom came up with an idea that would change college life forever: calzones! Dan (the dude) and Penny (his Mom) named their new restaurant D.P. Dough after their initials. The first D.P. Dough opened in 1987. Today, D.P. Dough delivers ooey, gooey, cheesy happiness on and around college campuses throughout the United States. Don't get us wrong. We love a good slice of pie too. We just don't sell it. Why? Because calzones are way better. That's why! D.P. Dough has been making calzone converts out of adventurous 'Za lovers - both college students and anyone else who is young at heart - since before slap bracelets were cool. D.P. Dough calzones are tasty anytime. But, we are best known for being THE PLACE to go or call when it is crazy late. Who else is gonna deliver you a custom made calzone after the bars close?
