The food was not good, especially the pizza. It lacked flavor, was poorly prepared, and undercooked. The pizza cookie is now being cooked in ten folds and the quality has clearly gone downhill. What made the experience worse was the behavior of the staff. The manager /chef was rude, unfriendly, and dismissive when I politely mentioned my concerns. There was no effort to correct the issue or show any level of customer care. I expected a pleasant meal and left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I needed something fast, convenient, and on the healthier side- this place worked great for all of those reasons! I was on foot and stopped in here before seeing a movie and spent about 30 minutes overall...super convenient! Prices are decent & portions are a good size. I can't speak for their pizza but the fall salad we tried was a hit! Tons of veggies, great flavor, very fresh. We also tried the kale Caesar with salmon. The salmon was so underwhelming- please do yourself a favor and skip it! Absolutely no flavor, the portion size was sad. It came shredded and looked as if it came from a can? Yikes. The salads came with a piece of bread- we weren't fans. Bread was bland unfortunately. Parking in this area is very scarce. Definitely more convenient if you don't have a vehicle and just staying in the area. This is a order at the counter and get a number kind of place. Plenty of seating inside and out. They have a cute patio when the weather is nice. Recommend sitting outside! Lots of people in the area so great for people watching. They don't have a full bar- just wine and beer. As an avid pasta lover I'm going to be a pretty harsh grader on this. The atmosphere of Sauce is really nice and I enjoy that it's one of the places where you order at the front and then can go sit. I will say that the quantity is pretty large for most items, I just still think the price is a little on the higher side for it not being an official sit down restaurant. Great pizza spot to beat the heat and have a bottle of wine. There are some great restaurants around the Tempe area, and Mill Avenue, that serve local beer and American fare. As well as some great Mexican spots. But this place should be talked about for the quality pizza and wine offerings. We went in expecting just to get a pizza to go, but the salads looked great, they offered a nice kids menu for our two year old, and we decided to halt on the beer and try a bottle of wine. They do have some affordable options, that are perfect for two but obviously you need to finish them in the store before you leave. The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting everything sorted out. They were a little stingy on the extra bread, but we continued to ask for more and got what we wanted. The pizza in my opinion was great. We went with the meat heavy style, and it was very good. We went with a thicker crust after reading some reviews that the thinner crust with a little too thin. The kids loved her Mac n cheese pasta, and it was a great meal. The place is very spacious with a lot of room to spread out and have a little corner to yourself. This place was surprisingly really good. I had never eaten here before but I certainly will go back. I ordered their "build your own" pizza with Italian sausage, smoke bacon and smoked ham. I went here for the first time. I got the prosciutto, fig, and goat cheese pizza without arugula on traditional hand-stretched crust. It was really good. I wasn't expecting the figs to be dried, but they still provided a nice sweetness. I would definitely get it again. I also got a pizza cookie with vanilla ice cream. That was great too. The edges of the cookie were crunchy while the inside was soft and gooey. It wasn't terribly busy on a Thursday night. The pizza and the cookie both took really long to get to the table. I tried to put an online takeout order in, but I found it slightly annoying that the site had set a compulsory tip on the final total. Nothing wrong with tips, but for a takeout order it was a bit too much. Called in the order and service was warm on the phone and in the store. We got the pepperoni and mushroom pizza and the spicy chicken one, both hand stretched. The pepperoni was our favorite, and the wild mushrooms really brought the umami out of the meat out. The spicy chicken sausage one was mildly spicy, but I was expecting more sausage crumbles than just a dusting of it. It was supposed to be complemented by smoked mozzarella, but I couldn't really taste the difference from tue regular mozzarella. All in all delicious and not too greasy. Sauce is seriously going downhill. The food keeps changing to cheaper and lower quality options while the prices keep going up. Some of my favorite menu items are ruined due to this, not even sure if I'll keep coming back. The sausage and caramelized onion pizza was replaced with huge chunks of what looks like slim Jim's instead of the ground sausage they used to use. The caprese bruschetta has almost no topping, when it used to be covered in topping. The chicken spinach walnut salad is so underwhelming with toppings and dressing has turned to pure oil and has no flavor. Not sure what happened to this place. They either need to fire the new cook or tell management the budget cuts they're making are ruining the place. read more

Sauce Pizza & Wine has always been my go-to when craving a good pizza or pasta. It is a walk-in and order at the counter, and they bring the food to you as you seat yourself. It has a perfect location, very close to campus, which means a limited selection of parking. It's never super busy and your food comes out fast! It's perfect for a quick bite or dinner with friends/family. They have a large indoor seating area as well as outdoor seating available. Everything looked clean and organized. As seen in the photos, I ordered a pepperoni pizza and pasta with red sauce and mozzarella. The pizza has a perfect cheese-to-sauce ratio. I enjoy dipping my pizza in the ranch which was given to me for free upon request after our food came out. I believe their ranch is made in-house, has so much flavor, and is seasoned perfectly. As someone who is very specific about their pasta it had the perfect amount of sauce for the noodles, so it wasn't dry. The staff at the register and the employee who brought the food out were very nice and welcoming. There was a warm ambiance with light music in the restaurant. Although the prices are sort of high, I feel as if the portions make up for it. Spitting the pasta and pizza between two people, we have leftovers of both that was able to be enjoyed later. Also, the food is amazing for the price and definitely worth trying. Also as seen in the photos, I ordered a mobile order for the Chicken Pesto pizza. It took around 20 minutes to be prepared. I walked in a few minutes early and it was already ready. They keep the pizza in a warming oven to keep the food warm and fresh. When ordering online the sides of the ranch were around $0.50. This was surprising as I know I have previously gotten ranch for free in the restaurant. The pizza was very good although the crust was super crunchy and thin. I absolutely love the Kale & Salmon salad here. The salmon is moist and fresh and they have a delicious crumble of nuts and dried fruits with a sweet vinaigrette that I devour. I got a chance to try out the new location of Sauce at Tempe. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant for $2. There is construction happening around so be prepared for traffic. We went on a Saturday night and it was not very busy. The place is neat with glass structure and with indoor outdoor seating. The staff was very helpful and catered to all our questions. We went with cactus blossom and tropical green ice tea. Both were refreshing and tasted good. My personal favorite was the tropical green. We wanted to try the strawberry and basil lemonade but they were out of it. For pizza we went with rosemary potato & build your own. Rosemary potato was alright, a bit salty and we went with a thicker crust. But, build your own won our heart. The sauce was delicious and we chose onion and bell pepper topping with thin crust. I could easily eat the whole pizza if I am super hungry. For dessert the pizza cookie with vanilla icecream was perfect. Thanks to my Elite Week opportunity, my friend and I were able to dine here at this new location for lunch. When we walked in, we were greeted right away by Vanessa. We ordered and were given a number tag for our food to be delivered to our table. We ordered 2 pizzas, one Signature Thin Crust Pepperoni & Crimini Mushroom and the other an Artisan Hand-Stretched Pepperoni with Extra Cheese and ended our meal with a Pizza Cookie topped with a generous scoop of Chocolate Gelato. The pizzas were delivered hot and fresh and tasted great. Desert was delicious! What there not to like about a hot huge chocolate chip cookie with gelato... and to note Vanessa handed us coupons for Mac and Cheese orders upon next visit. Excellent! Couldn't have had a better experience at Sauce Pizza and Wine Tempe, especially being from NYC. We went on the final day and were both greeted and helped by the friendly staff. Getting there was a bit confusing but once we reached the restaurant, we came into a surprisingly big space that looked like it could accommodate parties. Although they have an extensive list, we went straight at it and asked the staff/cashier his recommendations, especially since we are new to town. The young man had helped us decide on the type of pizza style to go with (hand pulled) and what a success that was! It reminded us of Italian pizzerias back in NYC; we ordered their first pie (the menu is a bit overwhelming)- the Mozzarella Fontina Basil. As a native New Yawka, I keep an open mind with most foods and the pizza definitely was a hit! Crispy and not saucy at all. Cheese ratio was perfect too as I didn't want such a dairy filled dinner. Clean and right to the basics. Next up: I needed some greens, so I went straight for the chicken, apple, walnut salad. Forgetting to tell the cashier how I wanted it... The salad was packed exactly so: ingredients in and dressing on the side! Love it. I was so happy to have got my order the way I think salads should be: customisable with the dressing on the side. Basic salad but got my greens without giving a wince. Great for when you are feeling healthy. ;) Our dessert: so we went with the recommendations because we trust their taste buds and went with the delicious peanut butter pizza cookie. This. Was. The. Bomb!!! The manager told us that it was warmed up in our to-go bag and to be careful since there was icecream packed along side as well. Noted. And when arriving back to the crib, we devoured this simple but savory sweet. Thank the lawd for the salad, because we didn't give any extra thought on consuming this sugary goodness. Yes, you should get the peanut butter cookies with the peanut butter and chocolate chips icecream. (Correct me if I'm wrong about the icecream flavor.) Superb job on that. Drinks wise: loved the strawberry basil lemonade. The other non-alcoholic drinks were good options too. I love Sauce! I'm so glad they put a location in Tempe. The inside is pretty much identical to the other locations. The staff were all very kind and helpful. Throughout my entire dining experience one of the servers consistently came around and filled our water and checked up on us. This is actually the first time I've had this happen at Sauce. The food tasted identical to the food I know and love from Sauce. I decided to switch it up and try out the spicy chicken sausage pizza. The pizza was sooooooo good! If you like spicy, this pizza is for you. I actually needed that water I spoke about earlier, since there's a great amount of flavor and spice with each bite. We also made sure to get a pizza cookie to end the night. Unfortunately, they were out of vanilla gelato but we decided on the peanut butter and chocolate instead. I was skeptical about this because I'm it a huge chocolate fan but it was only small pieces of chocolate chips in the peanut butter gelato. This meshed perfectly with the pizza cookie. We went to the new sauce location a few days ago and with it being a busy week for me, I didn't have time to get my review in. I'm glad I waited though. Why? I have been to a few restaurants since then and none have matched up to the service that Anthony and his team gave us that night. We both got an entree (see our pictures) and we had dessert. The location is beautiful! It's tucked away in a plaza with a few other shops but is perfectly located outside underground parking. There's street parking availlable but it was raining so we opted for the coverage. Our food came out quickly. It was fresh and delicious. The staff checked on us frequently and everything was pristine. I am not surprised as aLl sauce locations I have been to have been exceptional. Conveniently located next to our staycation hotel in downtown Tempe. On a midsummer Saturday, it wasn't busy at 4:30, so we ordered right away and had lots of tables to choose from. They were nicely spaced out. My husband ordered the Pig pizza, while I had the Fig and Prosciutto. They are big pizzas for one person! Mine was pretty good, but a balsamic or honey drizzle would have made it amazing and helped with the dry crusts. Sauce is always a nice go-to spot for some fast casual Italian food. I like this spot because it's near Mill Ave but a short walk from all the foot traffic. They have a nice selection of pizza creations to choose from. You can get them on thin, hand-stretched or gluten-free crust. They also have a variety of pastas and paninis. I recently tried their Spicy Chicken and Cheese Sauce pasta. It's basically a Mac n Cheese but with Hatch green chile in the sauce. It has a nice kick to it. My pizza was TO DIE FOR!!! I got the rosemary potato pizza & roasted vegetable salad. Roasted veggie salad- so. Good. And it tasted healthy. I'm on a vacation and I've been eating out a lot. Bless this place for having healthy options (MANY delicious looking salads) and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The rosemary potato pizza is a unique and clever pizza! The olive tapenade gives a slight tang to compliment the warm aroma of the rosemary. The potatoes are sliced so thinly they compliment the thin crust so well. We both got thin crust- it was so light, crispy and delish. Although the ends of my crust were a little too burnt for my liking. I'd definitely come back to try the other crusts they have a gluten-free crust option. Cauliflower crust is the next big thing so I hope they can get that on their menu eventually Strawberry Basil lemonade, I'd pass next time because it was wayyyy sweet, no free refills, and I couldn't really taste the basil.
