I paid a visit here for the very first here last month and I enjoyed it. I was surprised on how close it was to the ASU Tempe campus. The portions are very filling. They have lots of options to pick from. The place is very cool, very college theme. The guy who took my order was very polite and patient with me since I never been there before. The prices are a bit pricey but the taste of the food was not disappointing. Will return here for sure :)

Kind of teetering between a 3 & 4. Really, this is more of an appeal for college kids & 4am drunk/hangover food. There is a very good variety & lots of options, including vegetarian, which is a plus. But, it wasn't the most appetizing & on the heavy side being a total carb overload no matter what you choose. I chose the Oh!Zone, cheese tots & chocolate chip cookie. The cheese tots were not good. At least, not as a delivery option. Cheese was crusted solid by the time it arrived & reheating didn't do much but create more grease. Decent flavor & probably much better fresh, on site. But, the portion size was also pretty small for the price. Not worth it. The Oh!Zone was exactly what I would have wanted in a normal cheesesteak sandwich, just calzone style. It was very good, customizable & the ingredient portions were solid. But, it didn't fill the entire pocket. The sides were just really thick dough with 0 flavor. So, if you look at how much was actually edible, it was 3/4 after discarding the plain crust. Good flavor, besides the bland crust. Again, price is a bit steep for what this consisted of. The chocolate chip cookie WOULD have been good- had it not been overcooked & seeping grease through the paper onto my counter. At that- it was inedible. A crisp, hard & slightly burnt cookie that really did have so much grease it was pooling. While the size was HUGE, it means they need to learn how to adjust the time or temp in baking because this isn't right. Decent price, but poor product. Would I order again? Probably not. I don't eat things like this all too often & it literally is something I'd order if I was up super LATE with a specific craving. This is a great option for college kids or a late night/hangover remedy. Otherwise I wouldn't be seeking it for an actual meal.

This place is great! They are open late. They are fairly priced. They have vegan and non vegan options (aka a crowd pleaser). And the food tastes great. I have not been to the actual location since I ordered via DoorDash. However, I would absolutely order again.

Great place to stop by for a bite. I thought i was going to take half of my calz9ne to go but i just kept eating! It was that good. Lol Good food and great service. Bathrooms are clean, aswell. We will be coming back!

I have had these guys before, I guess I haven't given DP Dough a review. So the vegan ranch buffer along with the vegan cheesy tots where delicious! Very timely, on a Sunday (holiday or not) 3 thumbs up for that alone. Try any of their offerings, you'll enjoy everything they cook up!

Love D.P. Dough! First time trying it and it was amazing! Only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because they didn't give me a side of ranch and didn't "hook it up". Noticed all the vegan options here and had to try! Used to come here and loved the Sun Devil calzone, now there's a vegan one so I had to try it. Not gonna lie, I am not a fan of vegan cheese so I still did regular mozz! The vegan pepperoni reminded me of the treats I give my dog, so upon each bite where I noticed them I just picked them out. The vegan sausage is pretty good! The dough was delicious and fresh and the dipping marinara is always my favorite part since I like things SAUCY! Staff is super nice here, I think one guy was training on the register because it took a little bit longer but I am all for giving everyone a fair chance to pick it up! Definitely want to try the vegan cheese sticks, might be interesting? P.S. The cookies were soooo soft!!!

Never order their Buffalo chicken salad! Menu stated that it came with deviled eggs. I got a few pieces of dried up hard boiled egg. Menu does not state that the chicken is breaded--I would of never ordered it--and low quality, processed mystery chunks. They haphazardly sprinkle on some cheap cheese, and then have the nerve to charge $10 for this sad excuse of an entree salad. Shameful. This is a total bait and switch. Save your money!!! read more

DP Dough is, and always will be, the absolute best. Got hooked on the 'zones when I was still a student (seriously, the best cheap dinner ever) and I never stopped.They have everything from classic pizza type calzones to BBQ chicken with ranch, fresh veggies, or (my favorite) bacon, tator tots, and cheddar. There is a super extensive vegan menu there now, as well, so nobody needs to be left out of this amaze. I've been to various locations and the chain never disappoints. But I wanted to give a special shout out to this location. Of course all of the calzones were on point, mad delicious. But the staff was incredible. Super chill, super fast- and they even let us have cookies!! I was already a lifetime DP Dough fan, but this location will forever be my favorite. If you haven't tried this place yet, you really should. You will not be disappointed. read more

I just tried this place for the first time ever today. I can't begin to explain how amazed I was at the quality of the food!!! I am vegan, so I ordered one of the vegan calzones with vegan cheese, sausage, pepperoni, and salami -- I also ordered some of the vegan cheesy bread. Everything was so delicious, cheesy, fresh, and wonderfully spiced that I started to worry that my food wasn't vegan (don't worry, it was). I will definitely be returning to try some of the other vegan options on your menu! Also, the vegan ranch was amazing!!! One of the best I've had from a restaurant. read more

Just now ordered and got 3 calzones,I ordered a pepperoni one and got no ricotta cheese at all.So disappointed cause that is why I like calzones. And if you order 2 calzones it says you get free pepperoni rolls and we got zip.Also there marinara sauce is not good. read more

Went there today for lunch; first time. I looked beforehand at the menu online in preparation. I ordered the Combat Zone calzone. I appreciate the fact that they are all made to order and not premade so I was able to order mine without green peppers. It was good but nothing out of the ordinary. It DEFINATELY did not look like the picture portrayed on their website. Mine was very plain with no seasoning on the outside and the breading itself was very course and dry. The cheese bread was decent but I still like the cheese bread from Papa Murphy's better. Overall I was not impressed. I figure that their location caters primarily to college students one would assume that their standards in quality and consistency aren't a priority. read more

Good food, great staff, and open late. I had the Buffer Zone, a buffalo wing-style calzone. I could tell it was just chopped breast, cheese, and Frank's, but at the time, it was exactly what I wanted. This place is AMAZING. They don't make calzones...they make edible art. The dough is wonderfully soft and delicious, and the cheeses and meats mix magnificently. Love the Speed Zone and Drop Zones the most. (Their ricotta is ridiculously good.) Huge fan of their "Calzone of the Day" offerings. Encourages customers to try a different calzone for the dirt cheap price of $5. Don't sleep on this place! read more

Hands down best calzones in AZ. You can definitely taste the quality with the meats and cheese. The wings are on point too! They have free WiFi and also deliver using a ton of different delivery apps and their own delivery service too. Established in 1987.

In the mid 1980's a dude and his mom came up with an idea that would change college life forever: calzones! Dan (the dude) and Penny (his Mom) named their new restaurant D.P. Dough after their initials. The first D.P. Dough opened in 1987. Today, D.P. Dough delivers ooey, gooey, cheesy happiness on and around college campuses throughout the United States. Don't get us wrong. We love a good slice of pie too. We just don't sell it. Why? Because calzones are way better. That's why! D.P. Dough has been making calzone converts out of adventurous 'Za lovers - both college students and anyone else who is young at heart - since before slap bracelets were cool. D.P. Dough calzones are tasty anytime. But, we are best known for being THE PLACE to go or call when it is crazy late. Who else is gonna deliver you a custom made calzone after the bars close? We get these at "The Windmill" when we go to the jersey shore and the sauce that comes with the fried mushrooms is a horseradish sauce which is amazing (hint hint, Chuck Box). I would eat here again but bring a flashlight to inspect the produce and lower my expectations. It was good, not great. It smelled kind of off in here also. The AC and vents probably need to be cleaned.

They also serve breakfast, have a happy hour, and host trivia nights. The only other downside is that certain seating areas can have a sewer-like smell, likely from being near the lake, which isn't ideal while eating. Overall, the food, drinks, and friendly staff keep us coming back. Definitely worth a visit!

Another reason to love this spot: hidden inside is an entrance to a secret cocktail lounge, or speakeasy, called "Drop Dead Gorgeous." Okay I will warn you I've had them get my order wrong before. When a new year/semester is starting and during the summer I notice a bit of a drop off on the service, I think that's just when they train new people. I'm not sure what the hiring cycle is though so that's just a guess. I also tend to go here really late at night and I adjust my expectations accordingly after midnight because people get tired. I saw a few reviews about employee hostility but I've never experienced any myself. If the mistake is a big enough deal for me to say something they usually fix it no problem. The site was buggy before but it's been working better recently. I suggest ordering direct instead of through Postmates or some other app because they're pretty generous with free calzone points and you get to see the whole menu. TL/DR it's a reasonably priced college joint, not the Ritz. Caveats out of the way, the food is awesome. I'm not even a vegetarian and I sometimes order the meatless options just because they're good. It's a great place to hit with a mixed group of vegetarians/vegans and meat eaters cause there's something for everyone. As mentioned above, there's also lactose free options. I haven't had any friends try the vegan cheese yet so I'm not sure how good that is, so if you're vegan check reviews from other vegans or just order a side and try it out if you don't want to invest in a whole calzone before you're sure. Highlights: The marinara sauce is bomb, so is the garlic/butter. The macaroni and cheese is really good. I like to get the spinner zone and swap cheese for mac and cheese. One of my friends is a potato fiend and if you're like him I suggest the Falling Rock. It's got bacon and tots. Tip: There is construction out the wazoo around that area right now and I think it'll be torn up for a while, so I don't suggest this as a lunch break location until that clears up. Late at night it's not so bad, just watch for incompetent/drunk drivers. read more

I have ordered delivery from them repeatedly. I appreciate that they provide really good to go containers that can be reused or biodegrade. I also appreciate the vegan options. Unfortunately, as many times as I've ordered and really enjoyed their food (minus the vegan sausage), the last two times we're hugely disappointing. The first one my 'zone' was made wrong and I couldn't eat it because they added hot sauce I couldn't handle at the time. I had made it very clear that they needed to leave the hot sauce off. Fortunately I had a salad to get me by that night, and they put me in the 'make it right list'. The second time - which will be my last time - I made a vegan order and they put actual chicken in it. When I called in disappointed for the most obvious reasons, I was told I already got my free order and then they hung up in a really rude way. It was shocking because I had always experienced the best service and delicious food, but these two last times completely destroyed my trust. read more

My friends and I frequently drive 45 minutes from Glendale just for the calzones here! The Dough is perfectly crispy on the outside and light and doughy on the inside! It is always overflowing with cheese, no matter which calzone (or "zone") you get! They are huge and hard to finish, but they are still super good cold from the fridge or warmed up in the microwave the next day! This is the perfect place for where it is located, they deliver and are open until 2 or 3 in the morning every day!! Perfect for all the college kids surrounding this restaurant! This is always a great pick! I never regret the long drive it takes to get there! I'm actually craving one right now! They aren't extremely expensive either for how much food you get with each order! Also, try the chocolate chip cookies! They are baked fresh in the pizza oven and are made of homemade dough!! Very delicious!! Highly recommend this place!! read more

Happened upon this place after a tiring visit to the Phoenix Rock Gym. My friend and I were famished, so we chose to stop and get some calzones. We are both very glad that we stopped, because we enjoyed our meal immensely! I got the Combat Zone calzone and it was stuffed with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, green pepper, and copious amounts of perfectly melted mozzarella. The marinara on the side for dipping was also a nice touch, since my calzone was sauce-less. It was just what we needed to re-energize after rock climbing, and if we are back in the neighborhood, D.P. Dough is definitely on our list. It isn't fancy and the place is tiny, but the food speaks for itself. read more

This place is amazing! I was never really a fan of calzones, but I decided to try D.P. Dough one night and that was it, I was in love! My favorite zone is the pesto zone with grilled chicken. I introduced this place to my boyfriend and his roommates and they think it's awesome too! I order delivery and I also order take out, either way this place never disappoints me. There was one time where my delivery took a bit more than 45 min long, but that was only because they ran out of 20 oz sodas and my delivery guy had to go and buy cans of soda, of which I got 4 oz free! To say the least, I would recommend this place to anyone even if they aren't fans of the calzone. read more

First off this place is open late which is awesome AND they have a VEGAN calzone! (might be on that secret menu tho ;p) Every time I have come in here I am treated like a queen and the staff is super accommodating and friendly. I only get the vegan calzone but every time its super yummy and I can tell it was made from someone who enjoys their job which = made with LOVE! Their cookies although not vegan are a super yummy and warm when you get them. So happy they are close by because I go almost weekly! Seating is small but every time I've gone it been at the perfect time and I am able to sit down and not worry about someone waiting for my table. read more

My favorite Calzone place! I always have to have the Sun Devil zone, Pesto Sticks, and I always use the Vegan cheese. Every time I come into D.P. Dough it's packed, the place is always pumping with cool music, everyone seems happy to work there, and the calzones are hot and delicious. My favorite part about this place is when I'm not up to driving they deliver to me! Love that they carry Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and fresh baked cookies. I appreciate the food provided by DP Dough, their calzones were stuffed with the yummy fillings and was perfect to split between two mildly hungry people. It was crispy, hot, yet easy to eat and wasn't much of a mess. The atmosphere reminds me of a good old fashion New York City dollar pizza joint, however has its newer Tempe feel. The pac-man and the chalkboard in the back of the store added a nice touch too. I overall had a perfect experience with the employee's as they helped me find what I most wanted. read more

I used their delivery service! Online ordering was a breeze. A friendly young man delivered with a smile on his face! Food came fast & hot! Our Order (fairly large) came correct! I personally had the pepperoni calzone which was stuffed with fresh ricotta and mozzarella cheese with a side of delicious marinara sauce. I loooved the garlic butter dipping sauce! This is my girlfriend and I's 3rd time at this restaurant. Every time the food has been OUTSTANDING. Their menu is so easy to go through and they have options for literally everybody. The staff that worked the night shift tonight were all super pleasant. All 3 of them gave us great service and we appreciate all of them (the owner is also super nice.) Second off when I went to order the calzone the told me it would be and additional charge to have spices put on top of the calzone! Are you kidding? Went for vegan Monday's for the first time and was really impressed! The calzones were amazing and the vegan sticks were also great. They also have their house made vegan ranch which was pretty good considering I don't typically like some vegan ranch. And the vegan coconut chocolate chip cookies were crazy good.
