They gave me an adorable case!
    Debra S.

In 2020, I had a simple eye exam from another great company, and got my prescription so I could order glasses Zenni. I was able to get 2 pairs and some sunglasses. But, I wanted to get some glasses from a local company. I went to Downtown Vision to get my annual exam. My eyes were about the same but I needed some better glasses for my screen time. Over the past year, my screen time had increased. The staff are great! Very knowledgable! Friendly! I felt comfortable and cared for. Covid protocol followed! Frame selection is a wide variety! If you don't have vision insurance, they can help you out.

My new cute glasses from downtown vision!

What a fabulous experience with the team at downtown vision. Riley was so helpful in taking my eye photos and measurements. Dr Ogden was very nice and answered all my questions and concerns and was super thorough with my healthy eye exam and eyeglass exam. Stephanie who helped me find a super comfy and green pair of glasses to go with my copper hair and face shape was really easy to talk to and I loved her suggestions. Tip: go earlier so you have time to find metered parking. And you walk inside an office building to then get access to Downtown vision

We were passing the optical dept and I mentioned to him I someday will check out the Optometry office for an eye check and he said just go and talk to them and make an appt. I walked in and they said how about right now? WTH? So I did. A little paper work and like 2 min and I was in Dr Winkelmans chair. He is an independent practice housed in this Costco. I see a retina specialist for a condition I have so my exam with him was not super comprehensive as I had just seen my retina doctor. I just needed a new prescription just for reading. The downside is he does not accept medicare or prominence..the pro side is the exam was only $119, and took right around 30 minute to complete. Today I was back in Costco to fill the prescription for glasses. There was no one else there, so I got helped right away by Jesse. He helped me with frames that looked good on me. I am a picky gal that likes designer stuff and I immediately gravitated to Cartier. Yep..they were $399! But..I had a rewards certificate from my costco card that covered almost all the cost. I purchased a couple more frames at less$$ and each one after the first got $ 50 off. Plus, prominence paid $200 towards the whole purchase! I am so happy with this dept!!! Customer service is beyond spectacular(thank you Jesse) and the prices are fantastic. Let me talk just a little more about the spendy Cartier frames. I went online OMG..the model # of the ones I purchased is CT03730 burgundy. In looking online..the same frames elsewhere are $895, $704,$981 etc..Damn I have some expensive taste! Not sure how costco can buy and resell these frames for half or more then online companies! I highly recommend this whole optical dept. You do not need a Costco membership to see the doctor but do to purchase frames and glasses. The savings just paid for the cost of membership plus!!! 1

I came in on the Friday before Christmas to drop them off after an unfortunate event broke them at the base of one of the arms. When I came in, he looked them over, told me his plan to fix them, took down my information, and told me he was working through a backlog but would try to have them done by the Tuesday before Christmas. It was late Tuesday when he updated me that they were done, so I (understandably) wasn't able to pick them up until the Friday after Christmas. The repair is seamless and they fit perfectly. The price was also fair! If not for a bit of glue residue, you wouldn't even notice anything happened. He seems to really know his stuff, and I hope the repair holds for a while to come. Hopefully I won't need another repair, but I'll definitely come back to see Michael if I did!

After visiting, I can clearly see (ha ha) why! The location is beautiful inside (so uplifting and spacious) and out (next to Betsy Caughlin Donnelly Park). Everything was thorough and informative, from discussing my eye drops and ongoing eye care (wear your sunglasses and take long blinks!), to a whole eye scan that showed exactly what was going on in my eyes without needing a tedious and inconvenient eye dilation. Although I only needed a slight adjustment to my prescription, my new glasses are perfectly configured for computer use, which has already resulted in noticeably less eye strain! Meagan was also very helpful (and patient) with finding the new frames and walking through costs. Highly recommend! I did my vision check with Grace followed by an in-depth analysis and discussion with Dr. Belaustegui, and I really appreciated the thoroughness of the whole process. In addition to the exam, they got into the science of eye care and provided detailed information about my particular needs. Afterward, Meagan was very patient and friendly in helping me find just the right set of frames (of the 300 or so options they seem to have--all really nice and hard to choose from). We had a really great experience at our previous eye doctor in CA and were worried about finding a comparable place here in Reno, but Mayberry Vision allayed those worries and has proved to be a top-notch option.

This location is out of the way for me and I don't have daily childcare, so it's extremely difficult to visit office like this on the fly. What started to push me over the edge was the fact that the Double R location couldn't order the contacts I had tried from them previously with my very first visit with them. For whatever reason they didn't put the contacts that worked great for me on record. So when I went to try to order the contacts I wanted, the double our location so they'd call me back and never called back. Then I called back again when I was feeling less sick and they told me they never promised to call me back and to call the midtown location. At this point, I'm deciding to order from somewhere else. So I called the midtown location for them to email my prescription. The guy on the phone refers me to the portal. I told him there's no login screen on the website to be able to create an account or login to access those forms. He suggests that there's a link to create an account and access the patient portal from my email. I told him I've checked all my emails and there is nothing. I read the contents to him and he doesn't seem to believe me or acknowledge that maybe just MAYBE that access is missing from their website and emails. Condescendingly he tells me I'd be able to print these prescription forms as much as I want from the portal. He eventually agrees to email the prescription. I've gotten that just fine. If I could access the portal I would have never bothered calling. To prove a point, I removed my personal information from the screen shots and I'm showing both the email leading up to the appointment and the one after the appointment. There's no login or account creation link. I'd post a screen recording of the website if I could. I'm not inept with tech. If anything user experience will UI/UX is the bread and butter of my career. It's the fault of the designer if a simple login page cannot be found by the end user. With an employee of a small business, they'd have the means to relay the information that this isn't accessible to their patients unlike a large corporate business. So I would've expected more curiosity considering this would make their job easier. I'm sorry about the book written but all around the aftercare of this whole brand is abysmal. It's hard for reach a human and 3 out of the 5 times I've had to talk to a human has lead to poor treatment. Myself, my husband, and my Dad in Law were patients here. We're definitely not coming back.
