I've been to this office several times and my recent visit will be my last. NOTE: the Retina Scan is zero benefit to patients, as the doctor doesn't even look at it and they will not even share the information with patients unless you pay an extra $30 (per the intake staff) So what's the point, other than to obtain a scan of your retina? The 'map' of your eye is the same as a fingerprint, which is already being used as a form of identification for security. They usher every patient into the retinal scanner like it's part of the exam/appointment. It felt super shady and an invasion of privacy without proper disclosure, that the doctor doesn't even look at them for your appointment, nor do you have the right to look at them without paying them directly (not covered by insurance). I mentioned the reason for my visit was discomfort in my left eye, but he said probably just allergies and that everything was fine!!! The doctor never said a word about the results and gave me a piece of paper saying it was my "prescription" to update my glasses. I didn't look at it until today, but it states that I have a chronic gland dysfunction in both eyes that needs constant care and treatment!! Pretty important information for a patient to know :( Avoid the privacy intrusion, wasting time and money, only to have to get a second opinion at your own expense. read more

In 2020, I had a simple eye exam from another great company, and got my prescription so I could order glasses Zenni. I was able to get 2 pairs and some sunglasses. But, I wanted to get some glasses from a local company. I went to Downtown Vision to get my annual exam. My eyes were about the same but I needed some better glasses for my screen time. What a fabulous experience with the team at downtown vision. Riley was so helpful in taking my eye photos and measurements. Dr Ogden was very nice and answered all my questions and concerns and was super thorough with my healthy eye exam and eyeglass exam. Always a pleasure to come here for my eye exams. Such friendly staff and always helpful with choosing the right pair of glasses! They are doing everything they can to be safe and sanitary during this pandemic. They have always been clean but they are taking extra steps and yes everyone is following regulations for masks. They are being as efficient as they can and wait times aren't that bad considering the circumstances. Visited this office for the first time today, and I will definitely be back for my annual exams. The staff is friendly and patient. I can't remember the nurse that prepped me for my exam with Dr. Ogden, but she was very sweet and helpful. Dr. Ogden is amazing, very kind, and insightful. He didn't make me feel rushed, or pressured. He genuinely made me feel like he cared about my well-being as a whole, rather than focusing on just my eyeballs. Steven, the gentleman that will sit down with you after your visit with the doctor to go over costs and whatnot, is very wonderful too. The hardest part of moving to a new community is having to find new health care professionals. I think I found a good one here. My husband sees Dr Cardona and likes her very much, so I decided to make a leap of faith and follow him over there. Besides, it made sense. The office is walking distance from home vs driving 80 miles one way to my old optometrist. The waiting area is comfortable, but nothing fancy. The staff are all very friendly and the checkin as a new patient was relatively easy. I had my check-up with Dr. Ogden. He was thorough, professional, and really took the time to help determine what was the best lens for me. The fact that he is a graduate of Ohio State University has NOTHING to do with it. I reused my old frames - no problem, no hassle, and no pressure to buy new frames. My new lenses are perfect and greatly improve the view of the world around me. After 15 years of going to a family member's practice for all of my eye care needs, it was finally time to move on and find a new optometrist. I'll be honest--I was a little scared to go to a new doctor and a new office. I know, I know, kind of ridiculous! But!! I was recommended to Downtown Vision by my dad, and he is typically pretty good about leading me in the right direction. It was pretty simple to make an appointment. I was able to get an appointment that worked with my schedule which was great. Parking and getting to the office was simple. The Saint Mary's parking garage is actually attached to the Medical Plaza Building where Downtown Vision. Once I walked into the office the front desk staff was friendly and got me set up with the paperwork. Just a heads up--get there early for the paper work because there was A LOT to start out with. I got called back pretty quickly, and I loved all the technology that this office uses for different eye testing and imaging. Once I was in the examination room it did take a long time for Dr. Ogden to come in. However, once he came in and we started discussing my funky vision with one very near-sighted eye and one the is basically fine I knew that this office was a great choice!! Dr. Ogden was fantastic at explaining what is going on with your eye health, yet not treating you like an idiot. Oh, the whole office has a great flow to it too. It's basically a full circle around the office to complete your appointment, so... Now to pick out my frames! Yay! Dr. Ogden walked me out to the front and briefly showed me the women's frames and let me know someone would be with me to help me out with what my insurance covers, etc. I can't remember the name of the lady who helped me out, but she was friendly and . She explained the different anti-glare option. I chose the premium one, and it's literally the best anti-glare I've ever had on a pair of glasses!! And a great selection of frames! I would recommend this place for anyone who has contacts or glasses. Just the simplicity alone was great. I recently had to move optometrists and had only had great experiences going to the eye doctor in the past. I saw Dr. Yokoi as a new patient and did not have a good experience with her. I have been wearing contacts for 12 years and took them out prior to the exam, bringing my glasses. I have been wearing the same brand for years and was very happy with them but Dr. Yokoi insisted that I try another brand even though I said I had no issues in the past and did not want to switch. They did not have my contacts in stock for her to see on my eye, so she repeatedly stated about three times, "it's my license" and "in a court under law" when explaining that I would have to return to have them seen on my eye. I felt that this was unprofessional, a little dramatic for how this needed to be explained to a patient. If she had communicated in a better way, this could have been handled just fine. When I returned to have the contacts checked out on my eye, Dr. Yokoi was out of the office and Dr. Angellini saw me. He was AWESOME. Definitely someone that I would love to see again. I would come back again if I could see him again, but do NOT recommend Dr. Yokoi to anyone. I am giving a 4-star rating for Dr. Angellini because he was so great and it is his business. read more

I am new to the area and have been looking for a Vision Center where I can get modern frames and where the opticians can accommodate my rather complicated eyeglass prescription. I have blended lenses (tri-focal), with astigmatism and other corrections that are typically not easy to make. For as long as I can remember, it has taken me multiple visits to a vision center to get the prescription correct and for me to adjust to the new lenses. I am SUPER impressed with Downtown Vision! I met with Steven and he did multiple measurements, helped me choose a good frame and for the first time in more than 15 years, I did not need ANY adjustments after I received my glasses! They are perfect and I can see so much better. I will always go back to them, since I need a new prescription about every 2 years. Granted they got me my prism film for my glasses, and I went through a different optometrist for the frame. I brought my glasses in. The woman assisting me had me put the film on to measure it. Got that cleared up. Then she comes back 10 minutes later to tell me all done and it will be $35. Not bad price... but when she cut it she didn't bother to tell me she didn't cut them to actually fit my whole frame. I showed her how she cut them incorrectly, and they look shattered on the sides bc of her cut job. Please do not make me pay for something and have it look like I can't afford a proper lense bc you felt like not doing your job properly. Downtown Vision is my new favorite store and I will be returning each year for my yearly eye exam and lenses. The staff and Dr. were all very friendly and there was no wait time. Their prices on prescription sunglasses are less than Walmart prices and Downtown Vision gives a 15% discount for self-pay. Also, the eye exam seemed more extensive than I remember it being at Lenscrafters, so I felt more confident about the exam. The only downside would be paying at the parking meters, but with their friendly, fast service, low prices and extensive exam, I will be going back. read more

Started coming here years ago and strayed once on a whim at one of those franchise eyeglass chains in the mall. Never again will I make that mistake! I have always had exceptional treatment here by all of the staff and it's about your eyes health and not how much can you spend. Not only do I trust them with my eye care but my children as well. I had one out three of kids to need glasses and the lady who assisted us with picking out my sons frame was amazing with him. She was patient and made sure he was absolutely sure with his pick. We were not rushed or pressured into purchasing frames right then & there and when it came down to choosing lenses she told me what the insurance covered and what I would have to pay out of pocket for any extras instead of trying to push the extras on me. While I've been cursed with having bad eye sight, I've been fortunate to have Dr. Angelini as my optometrist since I was a child. Everyone who works there is extremely friendly and many of them know me by name despite usually only visiting for my annual eye exam. Dr. Angelini makes you feel comfortable during your exam and takes care of your eye health. There is plenty of parking in the garage next to the office. Honestly, I have NO CLUE how this place stays in business. After a terrible experience with Lenscrafters a few years ago, this place was recommended to me. The initial experience in the office was GREAT, but really expensive. Over twice what I paid at Lenscrafters for the same service and glasses. It took almost 2 weeks for my glasses to come in, I was informed that they were in and I drove down from Tahoe to get them. I arrived at 1:10 on a Friday and they were CLOSED!!! I called and even knocked on the door to get their attention. A girl working in there just screamed at me, "WE'RE CLOSED!!!" Ok, my bad, I didn't realize that an optometrist would be closed on a Friday. I went back the next week to get my glasses. Everything seemed good and I took the glasses home. Two days later, I was sitting at my desk in my office and I noticed writing on the corners of both lenses. When I called to inquire as to why my lenses had writing on them, the woman laughed at me and said, "How can you see the writing if you need glasses?" Is this how they deal with clientele? I was livid. They agreed to make me new glasses without the lenses with writing on them. I was under the assumption that they were making new glasses, this took almost 10 days. I went down, AGAIN, to pick up my glasses. The gentlemen working, took my glasses, went into the "lab", popped my lenses out and put the new ones in. I thought they were making me new glasses. When I complained about the inconvenience of driving down there 3 times to get my glasses right, he simply said, "What do you want me to do about it?" REALLY? It takes me 45 minutes each way to get there and cost me about $15 in gas each trip. I took my glasses home, very upset about the whole experience. The next day, while cleaning my glasses, my lens popped out. This was the final straw. I called and asked to speak with the office manager. He was very upset that I had had this experience and emphatically apologized. He offered to give me a $100 credit for my time. I was happy that he was pro-active about the fact that these already, very expensive, glasses were costing me more and more every time I went down. He said they would make me a brand new pair of glasses and they would be ready very quickly. Well, it took almost TWO WEEKS to get the glasses made. I decided that I was not going to give them a bad Yelp review based on the interaction with the office manager. However, today, 3 months later, my lenses are loose again and one popped out again. I am so frustrated with this business. The eye exam and one pair of glasses cost around $500. My best piece of advise? Go to Lenscrafters, they will make your glasses in an hour and they will work for years to come. Stay away from Downtown Vision's TERRIBLE customer service and poor quality work. I wish I could give a 0 star review. read more
