I had such a wonderful experience at this optometrist clinic and truly can't say enough good things about the staff. From start to finish, the process was smooth, easy, and stress-free. Debbie and Britt were absolutely amazing and so helpful when it came to purchasing glasses. They accepted our VSP insurance and explained everything clearly, which made the whole process simple and reassuring. They were incredibly patient and accommodating--my husband was in a wheelchair, and I had my toddler with me, and we never once felt rushed or uncomfortable. The service was kind, professional, and very understanding of our situation. We were able to get the appointment, prescription information, and have our glasses shipped to us even though we're coming from a small town. On top of that, my husband was able to walk out the same day with the contacts he needed, which was a huge help. Another big plus was the location inside the mall, which made it very convenient and accessible, especially with a stroller and wheelchair. Overall, the service was wonderful, the staff was caring and efficient, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. It is well staffed, clean, stocked & brightly lit We were immediately greeted by an over the top friendly employee named Debbie. I was skeptical about switching from my previous eye doctor's office to Visionworks, but our eye care plan changed this past year. Visionworks is owned by my new eye care provider, so that was a no-brainer switching over and trying them out for a bigger discount. My first encounter here was with Chris. He was super helpful and kept the frames I shopped for while I waited for the Dr. Debbie helped me go through the frames selections, and we narrowed down my best two. I loved that she didn't try to push sales, and I was pleasantly surprised not to have to pay anything out of pocket for my frames. She went through the pros and cons of two very different style frames, and she made me feel so comfortable. We finalized everything and went through my insurance benefits. I saved over $600 from just switching. She quoted me a few weeks 5/09 to be exact, and I was surprised to get a text yesterday that my new glasses were available for pick up. Flash forward to my pickup visit yesterday. I called ahead to verify that the text wasn't an error. Brittany answered and told me they were swamped, but she could call me back to confirm that they were indeed ready for pick up when she finished up with a customer she had at her desk. My phone rings 5 minutes later, and I head in to pick up my new eyes. I was there maybe 20 minutes tops and on my way out. Brittany was very sweet and switched out my plastic nose pads for a more comfortable cushion. I appreciate this so much! I've recently become a member of having to wear my glasses all day every day; comfort is my best friend. Thank you all for your amazing service. I look forward to coming back for all of my eye care needs as well as my family's. I know I made the right choice in the switch. I never felt this cared for at my last eye doctor's office, and I was a loyal customer of theirs for years. I won't name any names. Came in on a weekday, not to busy, but a steady stream of customers at this Meadowood Mall location. Chris, the optician was very nice and helpful. He checked my insurance, gave me the benefits, and I was off and running to look for a pair of glasses. Great selection at good prices. Two stars because visionworks sales people were FANTASTIC! THEY ARE GREAT!! The front ladies at the eye doctor were great too!! The eye doctor HORRIBLE. Horrible bedside manners. I swear my prescription is not correct. He was very upset that I requested he close the door during the exam, so the bright hall light would not reflect into the room. I have been having yearly eye exams for 30 years always with a closed door, so I don't see an issue, but clearly this is a red flag I have transitions (I've had them for year) I now how to take off my glasses to see up close ‍ UNFRIENDLY AND NOT PERSONAL DOCTOR. If you want a doctor to tell you what you need and not listen to your concern with a bit of rudeness, he's your guy! He's not mine! First time patient for an eye exam. Insurance doesn't cover eyes so I paid out of pocket. $90 for an exam is reasonable for me. Front desk ladies were extremely nice and helpful. Doctor was alright. Didn't seem very personable. Didn't introduce himself, never said my name, didn't even say bye or have a nice day when my exam was over. Asked him a couple questions hoping to get more than 2 or 3 word answers, but that wasn't the case. As for the store front, it was super easy to deal with. However, I found it hard to believe that nearly $700 total for a pair of rx glasses (with the medium package add ons) and rx sunnies with no add ons was at a "bogo" price. That seemed absurd and I have never paid that much out of pocket for glasses in my life. I usually use glassesusa and spend a couple hundred out of pocket for a pair. I will say though that visionworks has a huge selection to choose from which is nice. I believe the BOGO promotion is a marketing scam. A quick Google search for the frames I already ordered from visionworks showed that I could have gotten both frames for a 1/3 of the price elsewhere online. Oh well, I learned my lesson. I believe I'll just be going there to try on frames only and ordering from somewhere else 3 stars for the optometrist front desk ladies and convenience, ease, and selection of purchasing my glasses. My daughter who is on a Medicaid and on a limited income made her appointment with Vision Works. She picked out frames that were Medicaid authorized and we were told Medicaid doesn't pay for the lens. Also the optometrist did a refraction which Medicaid doesn't cover. That was an additional $48. We thought this was part of a routine exam. We were not told before hand that this expense was not covered. This company will not sell you glasses unless you add a non glare lens coating and anti scratch coating. We ended up having to pay $160 dollars for things we didn't want. The office staff knew my daughter was on Medicaid and should have advised her at the time she scheduled the appointment that there would be expenses not covered by Medicaid. read more

Today I had a new script that was partially covered by my insurance (did you know most insurance companies pay for some part of your new glasses after eye surgery -- in this case cataract surgery). Today we happened upon Andy who was extremely helpful in explaining the benefits of using insurance vs "today's bargain." Insurance route was the more economical way to go. I called to make an appointment and when I did I asked if they took my insurance (as my I saint was we sauté said this place was a premiere provider), they assured me they took my insurance. When I arrived for my appointment, I checked in and starting asking questions about what my out of pocket portion would be, only to find out they only accepted part of my insurance and that my co-pay would be way more than it should be.. The front office staff was rude, kept rolling their eyes at me and my questions. My son had a different type of eye exam schedule so we went ahead with his exam. I recently found out that I needed glasses and I wasn't very excited about it. I was given a recommendation to go see the people at Visionworks. So I dragged myself down to the mall and was ready for the worst. Let me tell you that the visit couldn't have gone better. I was made to feel very comfortable and welcome by Chris Carlyle. He was professional and handled my needs better than I could imagine. He truly made it easy for me. He gave great recommendations and put me in a pair of glasses that are perfect. Glasses shopping should be a fun experience but it never is. There's always a hassle, whether its insurance woes, unhelpful salespeople, or a crappy selection. I've come to dread getting new glasses. In an effort to spend as little time as possible obtaining them, I went to Visionworks as its right next to my place of employment. Including eye exam, selection, and payment, I spent 1 hour at Visionworks. I feel like this is unheard of! Actually, take off twenty minutes as my insurance is crap and they had to call twice to verify it. My glasses purchase was facilitated by Brittany and she was a delight to work with. She was very knowledgable about frames and led me to some that fit my needs instead of me having to hunt through the entire selection. She gave me all of the options available to me but in no way pushed me into an upsell. Selection, price, and customer service are all top-notch here. Totally recommend. read more

Eye exam is limited. The price is good but you get what you pay for. If you're trying to get a prescription you should specifically ask for what you need because they won't tell you. Service is friendly I guess but lazy. I waited a while before anyone even came up to the counter to help me. You need them to measure Pupillary Distance to get your glasses online and it's not included in the exam so you have to ask for it and it costs extra. They don't communicate well and the prescription I got had such bad handwriting I had to call back. Not a first choice but it'll do if you're trying to save money. Overall I'll honestly just suck it up and pay a little more somewhere else where they are more professional. read more

This was an absolutely terrible experience. I would NOT recommend going to the optometrist here for any reason! (However the glasses staff is great!) First off, I get the impression that everyone on the examination side hates there job/life. They were lifeless and dull and quite frankly very unprofessional. This was my first time going to an optometrist so as silly as it sounds I was a little nervous about the whole experience. Everything was going OK (aside from the staff's zombie like demeanor) until the optometrist himself came in. He has absolutely zero bedside manner and actually looked annoyed that he had patients. He was terrible at explaining my condition and giving me reasons why glasses would benefit..He basically shot off any question I had. He finished by asking to dilate my eyes. Since this was my first time at an eye-doctor I had no idea what that entailed.... I was nervous! I was looking for any sort of reassurance or comfort. I asked him what exactly would happen and he annoyingly said something like ' you just put the drops in and your eyes get bigger ' He refused to go into any more detail or even put in an ounce of reassurance. After like 40 seconds of waiting for my decision (without any attempt at explanation or comfort) he got up and said "ok then we won't do it" and left. No bye, no thank you.. he didn't even show us out. All I needed was a minute or two before I was ready for the drops. My boyfriend did a better job explaining what exactly it was like (how there we no pain, etc) and I felt comfortable and willing to do it. So I popped my had out and told the receptionist that I was ready and wanted to have it done. She went back to ask the optometrist and she came back saying "Sorry, he says its too late". Furthermore she presented us with his prescription recommendation and a lovely personal note from him. The note said something along the lines of "did not get eyes dilated, patient refused citing that she was nervous and about to pass out" ... basically going on to say how I was crazy and overreacted just because I took more than 40 seconds asking him questions. Then she actually made me SIGN his inaccurate note before I could get my prescription and leave... So not only did I receive terrible service, I was humiliated and made to look like a complete fool just because I was hesitant and uninformed of the procedure.. Really an all around terrible experience, I have never nor will I ever go back. If this is your first time (or any time actually) at an eye doctor please do not go here. He is snobby, impatient, rude, and makes you feel like an idiot if you ask a question. I did not feel comfortable in his care at all. read more

So I went here 2 years ago and took ahold of their buy one get one free deal and was very satisfied with my purchase as I was able to get glasses & sunglasses for cheap! Now it was time to renew a prescription so I decided to take advantage of their deal again. I picked out a pair of glasses & sunglasses that were the same price, $199.00. So we get everything going and although the lady who helped me was very nice, I was actually disappointed by a few things. The first thing is that the lab was closing at 4PM when the store itself doesn't close until 9, why? I had taken time off work to come and get my glasses and I live all the way in Carson and they wanted me to come back for my glasses the next day (which I couldn't do and I needed my glasses). The second thing is when she rang me up it came out to around $500. Now I am not a mathematician but I do not understand how it came out to be that much. The frames were $199, the lenses were $100 and taxes & fee's are about $30. I told her that didn't seem right. She asked me what my budget was and I told her I was lookin to spend around $350. She told me to find cheaper frames but honestly, it was hard enough to find frames that I even liked. So I left, and decided to go over to LensCrafters instead, where I paid $260 for a pair of Ray-Bans, and if I added regular glasses it would have been around, hmm, $500! Now lets back this up, Visionworks claims your second pair of glasses is free, that includes your lenses. How is it it buy one get one free if it is literally the same price as buying two pairs of glasses at LensCrafters? Shady if you ask me. I will unfortunately not be back to Visionworks. read more

Had no issues scheduling an eye exam and getting a prescription; I got 2 pairs of glasses since they had a BOGO half off and picking them out was easy enough with their large selection. I was told by my salesperson it would probably take a few weeks for them to be finished and I would receive notification once they arrived and I could pick up at anytime during business hours but had to make an appointment to have them adjusted, which was fine. After 3 weeks I called to see if both pairs were available being that the email I had received only gave me info on the 2nd pair and I only received notification that the 2nd was ready. Went downhill from there; 1st the hours of operation online are incorrect and I wasted time trying to call when they were closed second Chris who did eventually answer my call was rude. I told him I wanted to see if both pairs were available and he was all "well did you get notified" I said I only got notification for the 2nd and I had 2 pair and when I tried looking on the "progress " online I only see the 2nd pair. He said he was looking said there was only 1 pair then said "no wait there's 2". I said great I would like to make appointment to get them adjusted which he sighed heavily and said I only have tomorrow- no times given or asking if I what time would be best or providing the time available. I said okay do you have anything in the evening and we got an appointment made. When I went to my appointment "which I had to leave work early for" I had to wait outside being the gate was closed. The lady who assist the optometrist was extremely nice by the way and explained they were short staffed but would help ASAP and I was like almost 10 mins early and said it was fine. A guy eventually came to gate "not the door" and said my glasses were shipped (guy was same guy I talked to on the phone). I said "excuse me but why?" and he said "I don't know there not here she shipped them". I said I called yesterday and was told they were here and I didn't ask for them to be shipped and no one called me to ask or inform me. He said" yeah I have you on here and made the appointment" and he said " I don't why but she shipped them". He repeated "she" had them shipped a few times. So tell me why I made an appointment to get my glasses adjusted and was told they were there and I get home to a package at my door the same night? No this was not overnight delivery but ups ground. And to top it off when I looked at receipts and info given when I bought them I was also overcharged for the second pair! If I could give the optometrist and his assistant 5 stars I would they were great. I went here because they are open late and have a large selection but ended up being ripped off and lied too and wasting my time and even given a real apology. He just gave a lame sorry and she had them shipped. Well maybe they should find why it happened and actually a sincere apology and maybe take some accountability for giving me false information and wouldn't be on here writing a long review. read more

This Visionworks is well-lit, clean and pleasant. The two gentlemen that I dealt with were very friendly. I am new to wearing glasses, I just went in to get a pair for doing computer work. I wish I had done some online research (Consumer Affairs). I might have been better prepared. The sales pressure of $110 for "Clearshield" coating for poly-carbonate (plastic) lenses on my glasses leaves me feeling fleeced. read more

Kudos to Nikki Simmons, who helped me today. We are in from out of town and do not have or know of a reputable location for eyewear and Optometry. Being in a hurry my husband called ahead and asked if it would be ok for them to help me with my glasses. They were in desperate need of adjusting falling off whenever I tilted my head down. The moment I walked in I felt welcomed and Nikki helped me with my glasses. I'm not a customer and she'd never met me before. I came in to vision works looking to just replace some lenses that were pretty scratched up. I was in a bad mood because LensCrafters wouldn't help me. I decided to try vision works. Nikki and Debbie took great care of me. Nikki came and asked what she could help me with. I explained my situation and she was very helpful. Nikki had all the right answers. She was a great help. I was only looking to replace lenses but it was so much cheaper then LensCrafters I decided to get new glasses and some safety glasses. Nikki and Debbie's customer service was above and beyond. The gentleman that fitted the lenses was awesome as well. He knew who I was before I walked it. Glasses fit great and I can see clearly again. I will definitely be a repeat customer. I was in a panic because I was down to my last pair of contacts and realized my prescription had just expired. I called Vision Works on a Sunday. They checked my insurance and got me in the same day. Upon arrival, I filled out a few papers and was seen promptly. Dr. E was so nice, very professional and a great eye doctor. I was amazed at how well my prescription came out; I can see perfectly. I've been going here for more than 5 years. Service and selection has always been great. The optometrist is always efficient and has been perfect with my prescription. My only complaint is that they don't stock all the lenses for the glasses, so you often have to special order the lenses which can take several days. Still, price is right and service consistent, so I continue to use them. read more

Went into Visionworks a few days ago with my son for some new glasses & sunglasses. Unlike some businesses where they don't have it quite together with Covid restrictions & rules (I.e. reno costco - total cluster, no directions, nothing. Employee just screams at you if you head toward the frames that you have to have a temp check, with their broken thermometer.) I was quite impressed with Visionworks. The entrance is blocked off and you have to have a current prescription before you can look at frames. A nice gentlemen took our temps, and gave us hand sanitizer and then we sat down with Nikki, the optician. Nikki was great! She handled my son's vision insurance with no problems at all. She told us the copays & we also received an additional discount for buying 2 pairs. Nikki was friendly, professional & had a great personality. She helped my son pick out the frames he liked and it didn't take much time at all. He should have his new glasses in a couple weeks. I came to visionworks in 2016, it was a great experience - I even had my coworkers come to this establishment. I came in today for an exam and new glasses. The blond woman at the front desk of the eye exams section was so rude. She "didn't think I was eligible for coverage" and after she spoke to the doctor, she asked me to come back on Monday so I wouldn't pay out of pocket. I would have gladly paid out of pocket today and gotten glasses. I would have then asked my insurance for a reimbursement. However, with her rude attitude and lack of being polite and kind, I just walked out. I'm never coming back. This place is very unprofessional. The exam center has receptionist that are rude and argue. We made an appointment and then they somehow did not have it on file, they began to tell us that we made an appointment somewhere else. Such crap. My husband was seen there and they pulled up all his information and suddenly they had nothing. They were not apologetic they were actually blaming us for there mistake. I do not appreciate the rude behavior and will call the office to complain to the head boss. The male receptionist is unhappy and should not work in a field with people!
