This is the best optometrist in Nevada hands-down. UC Berkeley-trained, professional, wonderful person, and extremely knowledgeable.

A big thank you to Sarah R for helping me shop for my new, very cool, Artsy everyday glasses with progressive lenses & dark transition in the sun. Also, I love m new Sunglasses/Safety glasses. They will have transition and polarization to protect my eyes from the sun...as well as, real official stamped safety glasses. My appointment is next week. I came in early to choose my new glasses for my upcoming yearly exam & glasses prescription. Everyone should come in early to shop for their new glasses. It makes you feel so confident because you know you chose special glasses you will love & be proud of, for the next year or more,of your life. Choosing glasses is a personal shopping experience and I loved my experience today with Sarah. Thanks again Reno Family Eyecare, see you next week. A very proud Eyecare & glasses customer. Julie A

After visiting, I can clearly see (ha ha) why! The location is beautiful inside (so uplifting and spacious) and out (next to Betsy Caughlin Donnelly Park). The staff is friendly and highly professional. And Grace and Dr. Belaustegui did an amazing job with my screenings and exam. Everything was thorough and informative, from discussing my eye drops and ongoing eye care (wear your sunglasses and take long blinks!), to a whole eye scan that showed exactly what was going on in my eyes without needing a tedious and inconvenient eye dilation. Although I only needed a slight adjustment to my prescription, my new glasses are perfectly configured for computer use, which has already resulted in noticeably less eye strain! Meagan was also very helpful (and patient) with finding the new frames and walking through costs. Highly recommend! TIP: Plenty of onsite parking; take a little extra time and walk through the park while you're there.

I did my vision check with Grace followed by an in-depth analysis and discussion with Dr. Belaustegui, and I really appreciated the thoroughness of the whole process. In addition to the exam, they got into the science of eye care and provided detailed information about my particular needs. Afterward, Meagan was very patient and friendly in helping me find just the right set of frames (of the 300 or so options they seem to have--all really nice and hard to choose from). We had a really great experience at our previous eye doctor in CA and were worried about finding a comparable place here in Reno, but Mayberry Vision allayed those worries and has proved to be a top-notch option.

You go through all the tests to determine what you need and the type of corrective lenses best for you. Since I wear both glasses and contacts they offer support for those needs. Fuck this place. What a scam…read more I have amblyopia, which this place (used to) specialize in. And they used to be great! But it seems the owner is banging an employee or having an affair, or their drinking has caught up with them or who knows what. But the operation is a giant mess. Save yourself! I make an appointment. It takes 4 weeks to get in. I show up and am told, "Oh, we tried to contact you! There's no doctor today..." OK. So we rescheduled and I left. Came back 4 weeks later and got my eye exam. Bought glasses from them thinking, "I know I'm getting ripped off buying glasses from the eye doctor, but at least I'm supporting a small company and not Lens Crafters." I get a call 3 or 4 weeks later to come pick up my glasses. I drive up there and the frames are literally missing an entire lens! They're frames, with nothing in them! And, I shit you not...."This isn't what you ordered??" WHO THE FUCK WOULD ORDER THIS?!? Wait another 3 or 4 weeks, get another call, and come up again to get the glasses, which are fine. At this point, it's taken me 4 trips from Carson to get an eye exam and a pair of glasses. A couple months later, I'm trying to get a pair of motorcycle-specific glasses from Flying Eyes and have requested a copy of my prescription AT LEAST 10 TIMES. Black Rock refuse to send me a copy, which is a violation of federal law. All the while, since the appointment, there have been an e-mail blast going out to all customers. The first, "We're closing our doors permanently - come get your medical records." A few days later, "We've decided to stay open!" Then this afternoon, "We're closing our doors permanently..." again. If you go on Facebook, the company is claiming that they have to close because of, "employee fraud." I'm no brainiac, but I am an accountant, and there is no fraud an employee should be able to commit, other than stealing cash out of a register, which might amount to 1 or 2 percent of a medical office's revenue? Regardless, it's not enough to close a company, so I'm calling BS. Something bigger is happening, involving the owner, and they're too puss to admit it. Save yourself a giant nightmare and go elsewhere!

Despite it being easy to get another recommendation and switch docs, we keep coming back. What makes it great, how we are treated, etc all contribute to that decision, and are all part of what makes a doctors office a great local business! For the past four years I've been greeted by thesame smiling face at the reception desk. Ashamedly I don't recall her name, but she was always efficient with the check in process, somewhat friendly but also pretty formal. Today it was someone new, and she was clearly a little upset I walked in on my phone and tried to start checking in and somewhat politely let me know I should've ended my call before walking in the door. The experience was a little different but NBD and I learned my lesson. I like that they tell you your appt is 15 min before your actual exam. This gives you time to sign and update paperwork and get your exam started as soon as you're ready. I was amazed that as soon as I'd handed the clipboard back I was being taken in to get started! Dr. Lighthouse is exceptionally personal. She seems to have a genuine interest in you as a person, asking questions to get to know you and making sure you've had all your questions answered too. The art of bedside manner is dying, and she has it going on! It's no wonder she is so well loved by her patients. Oh yeah! That smiling face from the front desk? She's moved back to the optometry desk and is now fitting, adjusting and ordering glasses and contacts for patients! It's a winning team here. The team clearly likes working here and that translates to a great experience every time!
