Using this facility for 4 years or more. People who are in the office are kind and helpful. My cottage is close by, but small. Having this place near by, is convenient. It's large enough to keep my extra things at a decent monthly fee. read more

this place is trash I had my stuff here for years and when I came to get it I had to throw most my stuff out. I had holes eaten through most my stuff all of it was covered in rat feces and I had to throw most of it out. DO NOT STORE YOUR STUFF HERE. When I brought it to their attention they were aloof and didn't seem to care or act like it was even their fault. terrible terrible place. SJSU Students !!! THIS is the place to hold storage if you are sick and tired of lugging all of your belongings home every summer. Downtown self storage is my first experience using a storage facility and it couldn't have been more positive. The location is great, and is really secure. Opening and closing my storage unit was very simple, only took a phone call to open and a quick email through the website to close. Of course had to meet up during business hours to sign paperwork, but was a quick and simple process. The facilities are clean (elevators, dollies, carts, etc), and the staff is really nice. The price for the units is a lot better than that of others around. Removing my things from the unit was especially easy as a one woman job considering I could park my car right there. Overall, I would certainly recommend downtown self storage to anyone! read more

Need a safe, convenient place to store your DTSJ dwelling-sized collection of household/miscellaneous items? This is *literally* the perfect place for you. This storage facility is located UNDER the overpass after Reed heading south, and between 10th and 11th streets. The entrance is on 10th, the exit on 11th, and both are secured by an automatic gate, open 9a-6p Mon-Fri, and 8a-5p Sat & Sun. There is 24-hour surveillance for extra security. They offer the cheapest storage units of downtown. For level one units, a 5x10 unit is $99/mo, and a 10x10 unit is $159/mo. For level two units, a 5x10 unit is $85/mo, and a 10x10 unit is $139. Although the level one units are more convenient, there is an elevator that can fit anything normal door-sized, and it's not that stressful. They also have platform carts you can use to move your stuff between your vehicle and storage unit, as well as moving supplies available for purchase (at a discount with your yelp check-in)! The managers here are very professional and are as helpful as can be. I've seen the same employee on the clock each time I have been to this facility, and she is incredibly kind and sympathetic of movers. Treat them nicely and they may give you a deal (but you didn't read that from me)! An added bonus is that everything is kept very neat and clean, and almost everything is updated to be as modern as possible. I just finished moving my stuff out of the second storage unit I've had here (the first during the summer after my freshman year), and I could not be any more pleased with this business. I plan to store my stuff here whenever necessary during my time in San Jose, and I always recommend it to anyone needing a unit! read more

I have had my belongings stored in one of their units for several years and am very satisfied with the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. In my experience they have very reasonable pricing as well. Due to an emergency I had to obtain a storage unit that was lass than half of what I have at Downtown Self Storage and I ended up having to pay the same amount for far less space. I have been very happy at Downtown Self Storage. Great customer service. The staff (Alana & Brandon) are knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. Their rates are competitive, actually less than other nearby storage places when I was searching for storage. The location has easy freeway access because they are located under Hwy 280 and the freeway onramps/exits are just on the corner. The property always appears clean and well maintained. Downtown Self Storage has excellent customer service! I've used their storage units many times throughout my 4 years at San Jose State University. All the units are very clean, safe and the location is so convenient for SJSU students, in particular. Downtown Self Storage even provides discounts for individuals who pay for their unit(s) upfront, as opposed to monthly. All your items will be secure and safe at this facility. Not to mention, you are sent a reminder via email, for when your unit needs to be vacated. The employees are very professional and friendly. They are very helpful and will go the extra mile for you. I went here with my mom and we had just got one storage and then realize a couple days later that we need two storages. They showed us our options and made sure the units were as close together as can be. He helped us get a cart to unload and made sure we were satisfied! I have rented from Downtown Self Storage for over 3 years now and have never had a complaint. They keep the facility looking good, prices are the best that I found, I have only had my rent raised one time since I have been there and it was only $6.00. It is a safe place too! Watch out for sneaky charges for whatever they can think of. This place will try and get as much money from you as possible. Get everything in writing if you can. They may refuse to do that though. read more
