salmon Crispy Rice with Seared Salmon
    Jessica F.

You must get the crispy rice bites! They are these heavenly crunchy crispy small bites that are delish. Seared salmon is the way to go it was so tender and tasty. Chilean sea bass roll was also tasty, I liked the fancy sauce plating, but a bit expensive at $22. The roll was light and delicate. Also enjoyed the hand rolls I got the 4 roll sesu for $22 it was super filling and all four rolls were tender and fresh and tasty. Salmon was my favorite yet again. For fans of kazunori, douska is less crowded and more affordable option!

Best sushi ever, i will definitely be coming back here. The crispy rice with salmon and crispy with avocado were 10/10 with a side of eel sauce yum!

I came here based on my friend's recommendation and with her for dinner. I'm so glad we came here because it is also now one of my favorites. They have a good amount of seating inside with sushi bar seating and tables as well. We sat at the sushi bar because we loved watching them work. I got the crispy rice spicy salmon, and the crunch tuna sushi roll. It was so delicious. I also tried my friend's salmon hand roll and it was so good at the end of my meal I also ordered one. A really solid spot for sushi!

Such a cute little spot with amazing food! It's not easy to find vegetarian hand rolls made with soy paper, so this place was a great find. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. The service was fast, and our server was really friendly too.

really good value meal. the temaki platter is beautifully presented and it's really fun to make your own handrolls. It's also so much food - I was so full after! Favorites were the spicy tuna and nigiri like pieces (tuna, salmon, yellowtail). The rice itself was also delicious - definitely sushi rice texture and a bit vinegary. Miso soup was also good!! The toro was not very fresh though and the scallop was doused in sauce, and I also did not like the fish that basically had sriracha on the top (top middle piece). Overall though, not bad and really good value. and super fun!

A wonderful, small-ish non pretentious hand roll / sushi spot that comes at reasonable prices. I got the 5 roll Matsu combo ($30). The rolls are very well made, flavorful, and delicious. My favorites were the spicy crispy tuna and the crab. They were all unique and wonderful though! The Temaki Set ($53) is SO MUCH FOOD. Service is swift and polite. All around a great spot for a casual dinner :)

Low key omakase with great service and fish is very fresh! I started with the sake flight which I enjoyed. For food, we had the crispy rice and madai crudo which were both delicious. We then got the matsu handroll set which was the perfect amount of food however, I ordered another spicy scallop handroll because it was so good. Definitely make sure to check out the bathroom as they have a heated toilet and cool plant window!

他们的清酒居然20美金一小壶,服务员一脸的不情愿,清酒还不是热的,不过是一点的温,我的天!!没有其他客人的餐厅,算是好处还是坏处?坏人‍ Their sake was a whopping $20 a small jug! The waiter looked reluctant, and the sake wasn't even hot, just lukewarm! My goodness! Is a restaurant with no other customers a good thing or a bad thing? Bad guy ‍

Went for a quick solo lunch on a weekend and it was pretty empty so I was able to get seated right away without a reservation. Really affordable temaki sets! I got the Douska six handroll set for $38 before tax and tip. Would recommend and go again if I'm ever in LES!

Reasonable prices with decent quality Look, we all know this area is absolutely saturated with Japanese restaurants. You can throw a rock and hit three different sushi spots, so it takes a lot for a place to truly stand out to me. I stopped in for dinner and decided to go with the 5-Hand Roll Set (though they have a solid a la carte menu and some great-looking sake flights if you're thirsty ). The absolute highlight here is the pacing. There is nothing worse than ordering hand rolls and having them all arrive at once, getting soggy while you work through the first one. Here, the chef is literally watching you. They make the rolls one by one, handing you the next one only after you finish the previous one. Because of that, the quality is insane. The nori is still warm and crispy, offering that perfect "snap" when you bite into it, contrasting with the cool, fresh fish inside.

This place probably has my favorite food in all of New York. I always get a few a la carte hand rolls and the fish is so incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. I love watching the chefs prepare the food and love that the restaurant isn't too pretentious or stuffy. To me, it's the best of the best.

I've been here twice and I... can't really find anything special about this place. I think it's at a good price point for New York, but the quality is pretty much what you'd expect at this price point (nothing special). I got the 5 hand roll set both times and wasn't disappointed but wasn't wowed by it. I think one weird thing is that the seating in the restaurant is quite narrow. We were a party of 5 the second time I came, and we were seated at the bar despite there being two open tables in the outdoor dining section that could seat 6 (in fact, the entire outdoor dining section was open except for one table of two). We asked twice if we could be seated in one of the two open 6 person tables, but the waitress both times said that we couldn't because it was their policy (and the second time was slightly annoyed when saying it). We were a bit confused by what that meant and figured it was just reserved for someone else, but no party ended up sitting at either table. It was a bit odd... probably wouldn't really come back again.

I've visited a hand full of times so I think it's safe to say, (in a butchered British accent) "can I have some more please". Although the place looks dingy it definitely does not disappoint. The fish is fresh and they know how to whip up amazingly delicious treats. It would be nice to sit out if it's wasn't all boarded up but luckily eating inside isn't a deal breaker. So pop a squat and pig out. Ive tried just about everything and I'd recommend the more tastier options (imo) like the monk liver fish, mentaiko and maguro natto. Trust me, if you're adventurous :) Enjoy. Overall looks don't match the price but it's a great lesson in not judging a book by its cover.

How do you make a reservation here? Yelp shows they have reservations but searched the interweb with no avail and I have tried calling without answer. Is this place even open?

Do they offer outdoor seating and heaters during the winter coming right now?

Not sure. Sorr,y I am avoiding outdoor dining also. They did have stands set up.

They are fairly strict with their dining time period as it is busy. Be sure to book a reservation. Their menu is fairly large with plenty of appetizers as well as hot and cold udon options (note: this is a udon spot, not ramen). I got their kanimaze (cold) and their tantan (hot) and both were delicious. The kanimaze was refreshing and full of flavor. And the tantan was rich, comforting, and warm. Their shrimp tempura and agedashi were also great. Lightly fried and not too greasy. Would love to come back to try their other options.

It was a pleasant surprise to see that they expanded into the adjacent storefront. Now there's 4-5 booths and a bar table. The annex matches the interior design of their Soho and Midtown location and feels clean and spacious. Service was a bit slow from the hostess to the server. We ordered: small chicken tatsuta-age, niku udon, kamonan udon, assorted mushroom udon, green tea tiramisu, souffle fruit roll, soba pudding. Appreciate how big the chunks of meat are used for fried chicken. The exterior was a bit overfried but the interior stayed Broth and udon aligns with their Soho location which makes me more willing to come to this location moving forward. The assorted mushroom is seasonal. It's a nice lighter cleaner option but at the same time the mushrooms don't add much flavor. Kamonan is the duck which I chose because duck is a less common meat option around. I felt that the duck was a bit tough and bland yet also added too much oil into the clean broth (relatively to me). Niku is an OG but I haven't had it in a while. This time I was surprised how the marinate is light resulting in stronger meat flavor. I wish it would be more tender but it's alright. Desserts were more disappointing to me. I used to go to Patisserie Fouet frequently before they shut down the Union Square location. Green tea tiramisu had strong matcha soaks but I found the overall dessert to be a bit bland. The soaked sponge was a bit too wet too. Souffle fruit roll was huge, better to share with others especially after already eating savory food beforehand. I think it's intentional for the cake to be so dense. It came out really smooth but way too dense to feel like a dessert. I think I would eat this as breakfast instead. The raspberry sauce's tartness and punchiness is much needed otherwise I don't know if I can finish it. Soba pudding is my usual favorite and it stands up to the test of time. Still super smooth and with wheaty depth.

Niku and gyunan were divine. In the niku, they somehow managed to make the tripe and beef tendon immensely flavorful and tender without being heavy-handed. The fatty beef in the gyunan was crack with the sesame chili oil. The bonito base soup was somehow savory and full-bodied while also being sweet and light, so even though I was about to burst it didn't feel icky. Nothing to note in appetizer land besides the fact that I finally tried monkfish liver and it literally tasted like a salmon-flavored paté. Both surprised and relieved it tasted so normal. Ordering was quick and I got the eggplant (fyi one of my favorite veggies) appetizer to try. It was an American eggplant and it seems like it was baked first. I was pretty excited to try the udon and it tasted chewy and wasn't overcooked. I think they could crank up the AC a little bit towards the back of the restaurant because felt a bit toasty. But at last, as I searched on DoorDash I stumbled upon this glorious restaurant they call Izakaya Fuku. I was drawn to the adorable names for their sushi roll dishes like "Strawberry Fields" and their Italian Japanese fusion pasta dishes, "Creamy Mentaiko Bacon Pasta" with creamy mayonnaise, spicy cod roe and bacon like are you kidding me? It's a bummer I wasn't more hunger or that I didn't have more bucks in my wallet because I wanted all these dishes. Summer soupless ramen with perfectly chewy noodles and slightly spicy sauce is a great addition. The vegan ban ban kinoko as well as its chicken version are great also during summer. The maguro is delicious but I don't find it as satisfying as the noodles. Mind spiciness level for the younglings. In the winter, the spicy tantan or Tokyo ramen always hit the spot. Fish bun has been improved slightly over the years but thank ramen-sama, it is always as messy to eat as the first time I tried it 7 years ago. Desserts are surprisingly delicious.
