We have been going to omakase spots since the early 2000s when there were only a handful of choices. Nowadays there are omakase spots around every corner in the city. This spot is definitely worth a try, especially for the price point. We had 15 pieces for 78 dollars. Also we had a free bottle of sake since it was their 2 year anniversary. Everything was delicious and nothing was overpowering. I truly enjoy spots were the fish is highlighted and that what the chef did here. We came on a Thursday at 5. I love that we weren't rushed at all. Several spots these days feel rushed and factory like. The chef took his time to explain each piece of fish and had time to have a whole conversation with us. Service was also amazing as the waitress never left my sake or water cup empty. We will definitely be back.

Sushi Premium1 negitoro roll and 8 pieces of sushi $58. Pretty good. Great packaging. It was pouring when I ordered this and they put it the box in a really nice sealed bag. Even gave me some Andes mints but they side of yuzu soy I ordered was half a thimble so not cool there. Amazing toro roll and really good nigiri. Pieces are clearly a little small but the toro was delicious as was the scallop. I don't usually like ikura but it was a perfect piece. If these pieces were just a little bigger this is elite territory because the fish was super fresh, the rice was so well seasoned, a few pieces had just a kiss of wasabi. This is well made fish and it makes sense since this is a really omakase bar. Really enjoyed this box and their attention to detail.

My bestie and I are currently on our omakase journey - when I saw this place on an influencer's top recommended NYC omakase spots I knew that I wanted to check it out. Highly recommend making a reservation online for their bar seating - it place itself isn't super huge but they are super friendly and explained what each and every dish was. They have a 15 course omakase menu with a variety of different items. We really liked that the seasoning for each one was very different and it was not soy sauce heavy. It also does not come with dessert which a lot of places do have at the end. All the pieces of fish were really fresh and they were all so tasty. My favorites were the toro and the Alaskan salmon but they were all delicious. I think our bill came out to $114 per person with tip and tax which was not bad for a 15 course Omakase. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Yokox was fine, but definitely not what I look for in an omakase experience. The menu felt very catered to Westernized tastes. There was honey mustard on the salmon, which says a lot. Most of the fish was basic, and the dishes lacked creativity or nuance. It felt more like sushi night at a college reunion than a thoughtful tasting menu. That said, the service was excellent and the ambiance was really nice. Staff was kind and attentive, and the space had a cool, welcoming vibe. Overall, not terrible, but not for someone looking for a traditional or elevated omakase. The oyster, however, is an ABSOLUTE stand out.

MY FAVORITE OMAKSE IN THE CITY. Not fishy. The chef is amazing and you can tell he enjoys what he does. Every bite is unique. Don't know how there isn't a line around the block for this place... I come here any chance I get. No seriously, every bite is better than the next. Come here!! Plus $15 corking fee for BYOB!

I arranged for a 6:30pm omakase bar service for the 3 of us. What an absolute treat! The clean & contemporary design of the space is welcoming and comfortable too. We settled in for 15 courses of exemplary bites with Chef Vincent guiding us through each carefully curated piece. We enjoyed sea bream, mackerel, golden eye red snapper, toro (tuna), hamachi (yellowtail), uni, scallop... Each delicately prepared bite was delicious. The service was very attentive without even a hint of being overbearing. Just an outstanding experience all around and a magnificent deal at $89/pp on our visit. The sake selection is not extensive but the options are excellent. I highly recommend a visit.

I went with my boyfriend on a date and it was on us for making a reservation for a table and not the omakase bar. The experience might be different if we were sat at the bar but at least our food came out super quick! I would also like to say that maybe we came on an off day because the rice was extremely mushy but the pieces and flavors also just didn't wow me. I was overall underwhelmed with the whole experience and it didn't help to end the meal with a hand roll that was so hard to eat because of the rice and no flavor. For the price, I'm not sure if it's worth it. I would rather go to another omakase down the street, pay a bit more, and have better pieces.

Had a great time at Yokox with a great 15 course meal, but didn't find anything super outstanding worth coming back for. Overall the fish/meat pieces were fresh and solid. My favorites were: -alaskan salmon - loved the fresh, fatty fish with black pepper and yuzu miso -wagyu - loved the seasoned marbled beef, but black garlic sauce wasnt that prominent -uni - super fresh and classic!! -rockfish - simple, straightforward with sea salt; loved the freshness with a slight sweetness -crab roll - legit crab meat, baked with some light mayo, wrapped in a soy paper that kinda tasted like there edge of a pancake There was only one chef to 3 parties of 2 and a larger party in the back. As a result i think the pacing between courses could gave been a little bit tighter. He was super nice and smiley but definitely can tell he was stressed. There was still open spots for a weekend night and it was easy to move our reservation when we were running late.

Overall, great service and great food! There were a few of the pieces I didn't care too much for in the omakase. Nice spot too in a sketchy area though. Costly but heck, its an awesome way to start the new year. Love the lounge music. Can yall send me the playlist?!? Lol

My partner and I had an excellent omakase experience here. The fish was really good quality and each bite was delectable! I particularly enjoyed the balance of flavors with the oyster appetizer. Service was really friendly too!

    Johnny W.

Let me start off by saying that the service here is quick, friendly, and attuned, so service is deserving of 5 stars. Yokox also looks aesthetically pleasing and is spaced nicely between bar and tables, so ambiance is also deserving of 5 stars. The food, which is the most important part, was unfortunately underwhelming. I know a lot of diners are excited for its reasonable price tag at $89 for 15 courses before taxes and tips (which is approximately $110 when said and done). The appetizer selections all underperformed, especially the oyster, which wasn't all that fresh, and the salmon which was overpowered by the intense oil infused soy sauce. They also unfortunately no longer served the crab leg appetizer, which was a bummer and perhaps it could've enhanced the dining experience by a small margin. The majority of the sushi pieces were white fish and the condiments that accompanied each piece were light and mild at best, which didn't help bring out the sweetness and freshness of the fish. Their selection was also underwhelming, with the highlights being only the sea urchin, salmon belly, and scallop, which were all good but small in size as evident in the pictures compared to the ginger (the premium pieces were small in size and the less popular pieces were regular in size). The final piece was basically a regular unagi piece wrapped with a piece of seaweed, which is extremely disappointing when the majority of omakase serve the last piece as a full size hand roll. They didn't have any premium combo pieces like uni and scallop, nor did they serve any pieces of botan ebi or wagyu, which a lot of other under-$100 omakase serves. Thus, the under seasoning, the lack of premium selection, lack of exciting appetizer selections, and the small portion sizes made this unfortunately one of the more underwhelming omakase experiences I had for less than $100; the overall experience was perhaps more fitting at the $50 price tag, but that's just my opinion. NYC has become saturated with so many affordable omakase restaurants, that unfortunately Yokox is not one that I would recommend. The servers were really nice and friendly, but the quality of the food leaves so much more to be desired, which makes this review painful to write since I really wanted Yokox to do well given its exemplary service and beautiful design. Thank you for reading and best of luck (:

    Baked king/snow Crab Hand Roll

Found this place back in 2024 and it just gets better each time we visit - the yellow tail or salmon with the yuzu infused evoo in my fav! But the warm king crab/snow crab handroll with the spicy mayo is insanely good! Great price point for an NYC omakase spot. They even have a full selection of small sake bottles & some fun desserts. Make a res the counter does fill up quick. Ill continue to go back to this spot.

This review is for weekend dinner. I'm giving this 5 stars because it's an incredible value: $89 for 15 courses and everything tasted sooo fresh and was such high quality (they could easily double the price). If you're a sushi and omakase fan, then I highly recommend checking out this place. Ambiance is casual. I think it's about a 15 person seating counter (no other tables). Seating time is 75 minutes, but we lingered a little after. Didn't feel rushed at all. I don't recall all the courses, but I appreciated that everything was straightforward - some omakase places I go to the courses feel like they're trying too hard or aren't actual sashimi or nigiri. This is straight sashimi or nigiri (except for an oyster course). They take into consideration if you're allergic to something (we had someone in our group allergic to shrimp and another oysters and they adjusted). They leave time at the end if you want to order additional food.

Even before the food arrives, the restaurant leaves a strong impression with its stunning Japanese-inspired interior. The space is beautifully designed, blending warmth and elegance in a way that feels both inviting and refined. From the soft lighting to the natural wood accents and thoughtfully arranged decor, everything about the atmosphere feels intentional. It captures the intimate charm of a traditional izakaya while still feeling modern and stylish, making it a wonderful setting for anything from a casual dinner to a more special night out. The food more than lived up to the beauty of the space. One of the first highlights was the salmon onigiri, a dish that proved how satisfying simplicity can be when it is done well. The rice was soft, fresh, and perfectly formed, holding together without feeling too compact, while the salmon added a savory richness that made each bite feel comforting and flavorful. It was balanced, delicate, and deeply satisfying in a way that made it memorable despite its simplicity. The seared salmon salad was another standout. The salmon itself was beautifully prepared, with a lightly seared exterior that gave it a subtle crispness, while the inside remained tender, buttery, and smooth. That contrast in texture made the dish especially enjoyable. Paired with the freshness of the salad, it felt light and refreshing, yet still substantial enough to feel like more than just a side dish. It was a dish that managed to feel both clean and indulgent at the same time. The grilled squid was particularly impressive and easily one of the most memorable items of the meal. Squid can often be difficult to get right, as it can become rubbery or overly chewy if even slightly overcooked, but that was absolutely not the case here. The texture was spectacular--tender, delicate, and pleasantly springy without any toughness. Each bite had a light smokiness from the grill that added depth, while the squid itself retained its natural sweetness. It was expertly prepared and showcased a level of precision that really stood out. For the main courses, both the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Black Pepper Ramen delivered distinct experiences, each with its own appeal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a broth that had a rich, velvety texture and a full-bodied depth that coated the palate beautifully. It felt smooth, hearty, and luxurious without being too heavy. The noodles had an ideal texture as well--firm enough to provide a satisfying bite, yet soft enough to soak up the broth and integrate perfectly into the dish. Altogether, it was a bowl that felt warming, balanced, and incredibly comforting. The Black Pepper Ramen, on the other hand, brought a bolder and more assertive flavor profile. The broth had a smooth, glossy texture, and the noodles again had a pleasing chew that gave the dish structure and substance. The black pepper added an unmistakable warmth and aromatic intensity that made the ramen stand out immediately. It was flavorful and memorable, though the pepper was slightly overwhelming at times. A bit less black pepper would have allowed the other flavors in the broth to come through more clearly and created a more balanced bowl. Even so, the ramen was still enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate strong, pepper-forward flavors. Overall, Izakaya Fuku is a restaurant that succeeds on every level. The stunning Japanese interior creates an atmosphere that feels both immersive and elegant, while the food reflects a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. From the comforting salmon onigiri, to the fresh and beautifully prepared seared salmon salad, to the expertly grilled squid with its exceptional texture, and finally the rich and satisfying ramen dishes, every part of the meal felt carefully executed. It is a place that offers not just excellent food, but a complete dining experience, and it is well worth visiting for anyone looking for standout Japanese cuisine in New York.

Their location is a little hidden, it's on the second floor above Soba Noodle Azuma on 55th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, closer to 8th. You have to go up a stairwell on the side. Getting to the food, their focus is on meat, seafood and vegetable skewers though they also have a variety of appetizers, rice bowls and noodles, and dessert. The meats and veggies are grilled over charcoal while basted with "tare", a house-made sauce that adds a level of umami to the caramelized grill flavors. Recently I got a handful of skewers for takeout, including: - Ebi (shrimp) $8 x 2: the shrimp were cooked just right, tender and juicy, yum! - Hotate Eringi (scallop and oyster mushrooms) $8 x 2: the textures of the oyster mushrooms and scallop pieces complemented each other, and were kinda similar. Another tasty offering. - Negi pon (pork belly with scallions) $7: I'm not a huge fan of pork belly in general, though they grilled it well here and chopped scallions added a little spicy tickle. While not the cheapest for skewers that you can find, (and inflation hasn't helped,) their flavors are authentic and their quality and consistency is key here. I'm glad it's still here since there seems to be fewer and fewer good yakitori spots in Manhattan these days. They used to have another location in the city though I believe this closed pre-pandemic, however from their website they now have another location in Boston. This was also the sister restaurant to Ramen Totto which had four locations at one point though all have shuttered as well. Hope this location stays around for a long time!
