My initial appraisal of my trade-in was a bit optimistic and Jon helped me see that without insulting me. At has suggestion, I took my car down to my local Carmax for an appraisal/offer. I didn't want to actually sell to Carmax because I wanted to minimize the sales tax that I had to pay on the new car and I didn't want the hassle of selling private party. Anyway, John met the CarMax offer and sold me the new Santa Fe for what I feel was a fair price. My local dealer in Tacoma wanted $3000 over MSRP . I think the word "fair" really sums up my experience with Doug's Hyundai. But beyond that, Jon and the general manager at the dealership, we're warm, friendly, helpful, and professional; Jon explained all the buttons and dials, removed all the plastic overlay that's everywhere on a new car these days, helped me get my Bluelink system set up, and had me inspect the car head to tail to make sure I was satisfied. The general manager, I forgotten his name already sorry, stopped by and chatted with my wife and I. Very likable. The finance person did their job and tried to sell us on a few things but not in a bad way. I know they're just doing their job. I understand "the law" but I also understand "good business" practices. My daughter was so proud of herself. She went and bought herself a $22,000 SUV from Doug's Hyundai in Lynnwood all by herself. She was so excited to have an SUV that she could take her dogs places. Is that what happened? No. With only 38,000 miles on it, she should have had time to enjoy it before problems arose. Not even 2,000 miles after driving it off the lot and shortly after making her 1st payment, the car died. Not a little problem, total transmission failure. She called multiple times trying to talk to someone to see if they would do anything. Hour after hour, no one returned her calls. She and I drove there to talk. They had us wait about 30 minutes before the used car sales manager came out. When he came out, he didn't sit with us. He stayed standing, trying to be intimidating. When we told him our situation, he became aggressive. My daughter became a witness in a trial being questioned with zero empathy. "They did offer you an extended warranty, yes?" "You chose to not spend the extra $30 a month, yes?" When I told him that the mechanic that looked at her car, mentioned the specifications of brakes and tires, they were not good. That mechanic said this was negligence to sell a car like that. When I told the sales manager that the inspection report at the time of purchase said they were fine and maybe they didn't inspect it too closely, he decided our conversation was over. read more

Preface ________ In this seller's market, buying a car, new or used, is kind of a nightmare. I think I contacted every Hyundai dealer in a 75 mile radius. The "new" inventory online was not accurate 9 times out of 10 because even if it looks like a dealership has a car, it's either really a customer order on the way, or had been sold days prior. I absolutely hated the calls back from call centers that didn't even really know what was on the lot. And while you'll get a ton of dealers claiming to sell at MSRP, be aware that their out the door price more often than not includes a dealer add-on. Review ________ My experience with Doug's started off well when I contacted them and someone actually at the dealership called me back. Jeronimo was able to confirm that their online inventory was actually on the lot and went to take detailed pictures for me to prove it actually was. I can't even get into how many dealers tried to pretend they had it, or would have it "any day now", just to get me down to the dealership to test drive a "phantom" vehicle. Those tactics made me immediately cross those dealerships off the list. If you have a problem with honesty in your first interaction with me, it doesn't bode well for a huge potential transaction. After confirming that it actually was on the lot, I asked if they sold at MSRP and when Jeronimo said yes, I asked what my out the door price would look like to see if there was any other dealer markup. He did not hesitate to send me a line by line breakdown. I did notice a extra dealer etching fee included, but he wrote it down clearly, so I had no cause to quibble just yet. My husband and I could not come down that day, so I inquired about putting down a deposit and HE TALKED ME OUT OF IT. He was very upfront that while he could not promise me it'd be there, chances were good since it was Monday that if I was able to come in by the middle of the week, it'd still be there. Weekends were the busy times. He thought I should at least test drive it first and then we could talk about the deposit since it was non-refundable. By complete coincidence, some of my meetings got moved and my husband and I were able to clear a couple of hours the next day. I didn't expect to get anywhere since my experience at dealerships is basically "hurry up and wait", but I did want to test drive the vehicle. Just before we came down, I had expressed interest in a higher trim level which Jeronimo also got ready for us. Jeronimo gave me a detailed look at both vehicles, most of which I knew since I had done my homework on most features and he noticed. Long story short, we really liked the ride, but decided to go with the lower trim for both price and sporty look. When I asked to talk numbers on it, there was no attempt to upsell me to the higher priced version and he wasted no time sitting us down and the exact amount he presented us with at his desk was EXACTLY as he had told me over the phone and through text. Absolutely no surprises to his credit. I knew the dealer added etching was both overpriced and unnecessary. Being a seller's market, it actually wasn't a "huge" markup at $399 [most dealers were at $1,000 minimum over MSRP markup], but I still didn't want it. Jeronimo told me if we had a deal today, he would talk to his manager about taking the cost off. When he came back, he told me he had a counteroffer for me. I was set to start a negotiation, but then Jeronimo broke out in a grin and said, in exchange for a good review, his manager had agreed. Welp. This is the first one of those. It sounds ridiculous, but in this market, MSRP is a good deal. Moreover, this was my easiest and SHORTEST visit to a car dealership EVER. I don't know if Jeronimo talked to the finance manager, David, beforehand or everyone really is just that chill, but we were not subjected to any kind of hard upsell, just the facts, which we appreciated. From the time we arrived at the dealership to when we left, it was 2 HOURS. I even made a late afternoon meeting at work. Imagine that. Because we paid by wire transfer, we had to wait until the wire was sent the next morning, but right on time it went through and even though it was his day off, Jeronimo came down to hand us our keys personally. They had kept the car in the air-conditioned showroom with a big sold sign on it. Several people including the floor manager came over to congratulate us and help us get the car out of the showroom. We are now the proud owners of a Hyundai Kona N-Line in my preferred Lunar White color and we're pretty pleased about how it went all in all! read more

I really hope the sales team is better than the service team. I recently had an alignment done on my 2020 Elantra. The tech forget to reset the pin in my steering wheel which essentially makes the alignment useless (the steering will still had to be cocked when driven or the car would drift). I reached out to the advisor who helped me and I never heard back. He's a busy guy, ok fine, but then I left a message on the service managers voicemail...and never heard back. 3 voicemails later (one a week for 3 weeks)...Still no call, no refund. My lease is almost up and I really do not want to work with them if the service team is any indication of the level of customer service I'll be receiving. read more

I purchased a 2021 Kona and it went fairly well, or so I thought. I was approved for credit and paid almost half at purchase. However, buried in the paperwork I saw the interest rate was not what I was promised. I stupidly missed it until I got home (probably an hour after signing). I called up my salesman and he said (in writing) that it was a mistake on their part because two different managers handled the sale. He (in writing) promised to pay me back the difference. I've now paid off the car entirely and have yet to receive that payment. I have contacted the dealership over and over again, and get a promise of someone dealing with it over and over again. No one has even contacted me at all about it, I just get empty promises. I STILL haven't been made whole. It's been over a year. I see a LOT of reviews saying the communications are terrible, and I would agree. I know dealerships can be shady, but I haven't experienced this before when purchasing other vehicles. I buy vehicles for the company I work for, so I've been through this process probably 10 times, and this was by far the worst. I am planning to buy a new vehicle, and it will certainly not be from here read more

STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE! Tried working with Leonardo to buy a 2019 Kona Limited. After tagging on a bogus ETCH fee for $400 (Google it) and telling me he'd give me $9k for my trade... then telling me the next day we agreed to $8k (when I had a printed out offer from Carmax who would give me $8,500 and told him he'd have to beat it)... I just got tired of the games and walked out. Not to mention all the other bogus add ons he tried to pull over on me. And you tell me... How does someone get away with charging you $5k in taxes and fees for a $23k car? So it's a tie between Doug's and Bud Clary in Auburn for the sleaziest places to buy a car. I would urge you to look elsewhere. And avoid these places and people like the plague. Such a shame. But unfortunately it doesn't end there... A few hours later I get a text from Leonardo calling me a liar? Really? What kind of place does that? Completely unprofessional and uncalled for. No one deserves treatment like this ESPECIALLY when they were about to give someone thousands of dollars of business. Please stay away from these people. Went up there to buy a new Santa Fe . In the add it had all the options I wanted . Get there 70 miles away car is not the one they show you pictures of in add . The old bate and switch. So for a few thousand more you can have the one in the add with all the pictures of the options they show you. Like heated steering wheel,cooling seats . I go ahead and pay the extra. It was dark out when we got and they had to rush to get it ready to go . We get it home and a week later we got a ceramic coating done and there a rust spot on the front hood inside crack between the fender . Paint chip with rust . Called told them had to drive up there 70 miles ... oh no they won't fix ... he even says oh there's rust ..... its only got 400 miles on it . Even showed a picture of first day we got it in the mourning. You can zoom up and kind of see it . Nope they won't fix . Nice .... it's obvious it's been there rust ..says probably a rock chip ... rust in a couple of weeks 400 miles . Thanks again .. Out of state buyer here. I found the car I needed and decided to pursue it, even though it was out of state, because of the mostly positive reviews of this dealership. I had a pre approval from capital one and started the process of buying the car over the phone. I was told the price, markup, and that my credit would be pulled once through the CUDL portal. I agreed on the numbers and based on all of that info, I filled out a credit report on Doug's Hyundai website and waited. And here is where everything started going south. First, I received 5 alerts from my credit monitoring subscription that informed me that my credit was pulled 5 times (instead of once)! Shortly after that, I got an email that I was approved for financing and to call the dealership. I called and was sent a picture of the terms: -the price and markup were 3k more than what we agreed on, there were $1500 of fluff items, and then came the worst: they ended up going with my preapproved lender anyway, except that their interest rate was almost 3% HIGHER than the pre approval. I called them with my questions and was informed that the person (Alex z) that I was working with, was having his last day at the job and that they would have someone call me back to answer my questions and continue the process. While I was waiting, I called my preapproved lender and found out about the terms of my now-approved loan: it was almost 3% lower than what the dealer told me it was. They dealer literally raised the rate themselves by 3%! Fast forward a day: I've called them multiple times, and the result has been the same. They keep telling me they are working to assign me to another salesperson and that they will get back to me. After being ghosted all day, my last call ended with them (Jeremy) simply hanging up on me because I asked whether the car was even in stock anymore. All I can say is that I'm more disappointed with myself than I am with them. I can't believe I fell for the classic bait and switch tactic, the "person you were working with isn't working with us anymore" thing, and not having a contract or something in place that would hold them to their word when they said they would only check my credit once (instead of 5 times). Lesson learned: This is my last over the phone purchase attempt. Update: I just got a call from their sales manager. Gotta say, that was the nicest "get lost" call I've ever received. "We want you to buy from a dealer that you feel is acting in good faith towards you." :) read more

I have tried emailing this review via the contact form on Doug's Hyundai website, but ever time I do it says I'm blocked so I guess this is the only way to communicate. I am currently leasing my 3rd car from you guys (2 Mazda's, 1 Hyundai). Two days ago, while driving to the hospital for night shift the weather strip on the driver side that extends from the side view mirror to the top corner of the door started peeling off and whipping against the car, scratching it badly. I was eventually able to get a hold of it and bring it in the car. Setting aside how weird it was that my car was literally falling apart as I drove it, the more important issue was the terrible 'service' by the service department. I called the service center at 0800 on Friday morning and spoke to a robot that said text message was a good way to communicate. I texted a description of what happened with pictures and asked if this was a really big deal that needs to be fixed right away. I know nothing about cars and was concerned rain/snow would start coming in car or running down the inside of the door and create significant damage. By 3:15 p.m. I had no response, so I sent a follow up message saying I also need to schedule a regular maintenance service which I was having trouble booking online since it seemed to be full no matter how far I booked out. At this point Milo Alexander said he's booking out until March 27th. That's pretty shockingly long time to wait to have one's car serviced but I said ok. I then asked about my original question about the weather stripping and was told "we would have to take a look at it and even that we are out to March". That is again wild, but I asked ok can you please just tell me how urgent this is to address and was told "We can but we'd need to schedule and appointment." I said that was frustrating and that I still wanted to book the service in March but could I please get advice from someone. Milo confirmed by March booking but refused to respond further to my question or direct me to someone who can help. Sorry for the lengthy story but as you can see I know absolutely nothing about cars and have no idea if this will cause who knows how much money in damage. I was really disappointed by my communication and the complete lack of effort to address the problem before March. My lease is up this year, and I previously thought I would get another Hyundai because I've really enjoyed this car as until it started literally unraveling it has been very reliable. However, I can't see how I could return to a dealership that apparently doesn't have the capacity to deliver basic service or answer what I must imagine is a very simple question for anyone who knows anything about cars. I'm going to have to look for somewhere that can offer actual customer service and support. So that's really disappointing. Perhaps Milo is over extended but he seemed to be very resolute in his unhelpfulness. read more
