During Physical Education class at Shorewood High School sometimes we would get to go outside and use the athletic field(s) for class. On occasion we could hear the announcements at Chuck Olson Chevrolet being made as the dealership directly borders the school grounds. It became a fond hallmark of our active time outside: Chuck Olson Chevrolet announcements on the lot wafting over to class time. At that time, when I was in high school, our family had no Chevrolets. Fast forward a little over a decade to present and my dad owns a Chevrolet. My most recent visit was dropping my Dad off and picking him up when he brought his car in for some routine work and a specific problem. Work on the car was fast and efficient and finished the same day. There was a large strip of customer parking which was nice for when we dropped my dad off in the morning. He drove his car and took it to drop it off for service and I found the stretch of customer parking and parked and waited there while he got his car checked in. When we went back to pick up his car in the afternoon it was parked in the customer parking area which made it very easy to find. Not all dealerships/service centers designate the customer parking clearly and I appreciated it being clearly visible painted on the ground by the designated parking spaces. read more

I would STRONGLY recommend that you have a written estimate in your hand before you agree to service from this place. I was quoted a price over the phone by Todd, and I requested an emailed copy of the estimate which never materialized. Then when I got there to pick up the vehicle the price was significantly higher than what I was quoted. I was even shown the estimate form where he had scratched out the originally quoted price. The manager James offered/threatened to hold my vehicle until the bill was settled to his satisfaction...because, of course, that was Todd's day off...but he'd be back on Monday. The staff are frendly and easy to work with. Their website is ok and relatively easy to make appointments. The waiting area for the service is clean and convenient with internet access. Their prices are reasonable and from what I could see they do a good job servicing my vehicle (Although I am not expert), they make suggestions that are appropriate and I dont find they try and upsell much. I would give them 5 stars, but they over charged me once and after many calls and getting the runaround I havent seen a refund, they also took so long I couldnt dispute it, so unfortunately that has not been the best experience. In fact its been quite a poor experience given how many times I have called them (About 7) and been told the refund is on the way and to check my bank account, and we will call you back with an update. Bought a brand new 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV at Chuck Olson Chevy. After driving the car home about 65 miles away, there was an error and found out the car needed a transmission fluid pump and should not be driven. The Chevy EV concierge service had it towed to the closest certified Bolt repair center (Titus Will Chevy). Titus Will stated that the part was on backorder at the factory, and they had to wait for either the factory to produce the parts or checking stock at another dealership to see if they had the part and was willing to sell it to them. Titus Will could not give me a date and stated it might be 2 weeks or months before I would get the car back. I emailed the owner of Chuck Olson Chevy with a timeline of facts and asked what could be done. Greg authorized his shop to take the part off a car on the lot to get my Bolt back on the road. While the two dealerships were working out the details, another dealership released part. After 17 days of purchasing the vehicle issue was resolved. I have heard other owners with the same issue for months now and still haven't gotten their cars repaired. I bought a Chevy Bolt from Chuck Olson. I love my Bolt but can't recommend Chuck Olson. To start, their current COVID precautions are a joke. We spent a collective 3 hours or so across several days in the dealership, test driving and signing paperwork and I swear to you every single time I saw the manager he had his mask off. Apparently he was "eating" but I never actually saw food around him. When his mask was on and he was communicating directly to us, his mask never covered his nose. I'm pregnant and 15xs more likely to die of COVID so not cool. Aside from the manager, mask usage among other staff was mediocre at best. Second, they said they'd mail us our plates. We called 3 separate times to confirm this and here we are, our temporary plates expire in two days and they still haven't been mailed forcing us to drive 40 minutes out of our way to pick them up after work. Lastly, there's no communication between staff. I bought a car from this place and I still get weekly calls from one of the salespeople trying to sell me the car I ALREADY BOUGHT. I went in to get an engine diagnostic which cost me $154. When I got back into my car to drive home I realized there was oil all over my car which got on my clothes, wallet, and shoes. I salvaged most of it but was pretty upset. I called and the manager and he was nice at first and gave me half off my diagnostic. A coupe hours later I saw there was MORE oil on my stuff!! I thought this was ridiculous and called back to get my full refund...I was going to have to repair more than $150 worth of clothing/ items. However, when I called back the manager was pretty rude. He said his mechanics claim they didn't dirty my car and he was not going to give me anymore refunds. I made an appointment on Friday the 6th of January for a door handle replacement and a tire pressure gauge for my dash panel. I came back at the end of the day to receive the 2010 SUV Traverse. Furthermore, I just purchased the vehicle in June 2022 nearby and I was happy with the vehicle's performance. They (Chuck Olson) fixed the two problems very well. So, I took the vehicle out of the lot and onto the road after paying the bill of about $500.00 and the brake pedal was wobbling, yet it barely stopped the vehicle as time went on. The pedal sometimes touches the floor. I have to pump the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. When I brought the vehicle to the dealer (Chuck Olson) the brake pedal and system were in perfect condition and tuned well. Also, I noticed when I brought the SUV to 40 mph, it all of a sudden sounded like a volcanic eruption and at this time when I gently accelerate to 35 to 40 mph the entire vehicle sounds like thunder or a race car in simile. Some mechanic or person vandalized the vehicle. I explained to the service manager that the vehicle did not act like this when I brought it into the dealership. It is almost impossible to drive and those components are broken. The dealership did all the vandalism and the service manager denied doing any of this. I am a senior citizen living on a limited income and I cannot afford the intentional antics of a multi-million dollar dealership which targeted my SUV for vandalism and wants to charge me to repair the faults that they did. Worst service appointment I ever had! Took my Bolt in for the battery replacement (you know, the one that catches fire?) only to be told rather condescendingly that I didn't have an appointment and there was a waitlist for the replacements. I explained that I was on that waitlist and this was the appointment they gave me, even showing them the text message I received FROM THEM that day confirming my appointment. They brushed it off saying they didn't know how that could have happened as there were multiple people on the list in front of me and it was a Friday afternoon so why would I even think that they would work on my car on a Friday? Very condescending and infuriating. They did find my name on the waitlist but told me that I would still need to wait, likely months, for another appointment. This was after I took off work, had my spouse take off work, and followed me up to the dealer for the appointment. And not a single apology for THEIR error. This dealership and their employees are the reason that I was able to lease a new EV recently! With family obligations at home, a long work commute and long work days, and being out of town on days off, I had absolutely no time to sit in a dealership for hours. I was first contacted by Mason, and he worked incredibly hard over the span of a couple of weeks to get me the information I needed. Mason checked in almost daily to let me know how things were progressing or if he was likely too busy with in person customers to help that day. When it was time to stop by in person on my way to work as we were close to an agreement, it was Mason's day off, but sales manager Jim, and Kat, in sales, were up to speed on where Mason and I were in the process. Beware of "Bait and Switch" tactics!!! I came into this process ready to buy a new Colorado diesel and Chuck Olson happened to have exactly the one I wanted. I emailed in and spoke to a salesman named Michael who quoted me a price that was $2k below their internet price. However after a day, he got back to me and let me know that the price he quoted was not the actual price, but it was in fact just the internet price ($2k higher than quoted). I get that people make mistakes, so no big deal - I brushed it off as just that. Talking further, we got to where we were ~$300 off between what each of us was willing to pay, so we parted ways. However, a few weeks later, he reached out to me again and asked if I was still interested. He then quoted me a price $3k+ below the original price, which I agreed to. We agreed that I would come up the next day to purchase. I asked him to check with his manager to ensure that this was actually the price and was told that he was able to do that and the manager confirmed the price. A few hours later, I was called and told that they were mistaken again on the price and were not able to honor it - back up to the original price $3k higher. You know what they say - "Fool me once..." I should have known better. Chuck Olson Chevrolet consistently used bait and switch tactics on me to try and get me to buy a truck, only to reneg once I was ready to pull the trigger. I was tempted to give this place two stars. But couldn't. I will say my whole experience is with the service center. My interaction with the sales people was great. Recently took my wife's truck in. All the break lights on the car and the cruise control went out on her Chevy truck. I found a recall on the NTSHA web site, NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V310000, for her truck year and model with the exact same issue. So we brought it in. The called us and told us there was no recall for her truck and it would be over $150 to figure the problem out. I called them back and spoke to someone. I brought this recall up and he tried to tell me that it was not a recall just some product service update thing(I don't remember the term he used). That we would have to ok the diagnostic fee and if it fell under this that they would not charge us. Then about 1 min later he said that no it was only good for 7 years from the date the vehicle was manufactured so we where out of the time line. At the time I was already done with the conversation, I did not point out the recall parts only came available in 2010 and affect vehicles where from 2004 to 2008 so according to him people with 2004 vehicles only had one year to take advantage of that. Also that the number I gave him was listed as a Recall on the NHTSA website. I took it to a real auto shop and the total fix for the brake switch(the exact part that is listed in the recall mind you) was less then Chevy wanted to charge me to diagnose the issue. So in the end I have to pay to fix something that should have been covered by the recall. Not sure what they are doing or the reasoning behind what they did at the service center but I won't bring our vehicle back there. I feel bad for the poor sales guy I was going to see this weekend to talk about a new car but I can't give business to this dealership after my experience. read more

I brought my Chevy Sonic in for recall work.. Daniels took great care of me.. My XM radio wasn't working well and I was only out of warranty 450 miles.. He went to bat for me and was able to get all charges waived for a new antenna and labor.. Oil was changed as well, all done in a timely promised manner.. Cost is what I pay elsewhere if not less.. (One employee tried to talk me into test driving another car saying "they are all pretty similar". He then suggested I get the Vin number of the Bolt shipments coming in and pre-purchase one because they sell so quickly.) Disappointed and dealer service stereotype confirmed. My van had just come out of a complete front end parts check from my normal, trusted mechanic. He confirmed that the van was mechanically sound (no replacement parts needed) but did suggest an alignment (which he was unable to do in his shop). I took the van to this dealership to get the alignment done...thinking this should be an in and out, easy trip - unfortunately not the case. Dealership wanted to replace tie rods, said van pulls to left (not the case - I can brake with hands off the wheel), recommended front caliper replacement (I literally replaced them last week...!!!), full fluid flush (because what chain auto service dept doesn't recommend this ... every. single. time.), shock replacement "due to age" (confirmed shocks were fine ... also last week). Took two hours to "inspect" after telling me would take maybe just over an hour. No phone call after two hours meant I finally went back to check. Took 20 minutes to finalize paperwork. That's the last time I'll bother with a dealership service department. This was the perfect opportunity to check to see how honest or dishonest they actually are since I'd JUST had my own independent mechanic check all of the same parts and confirm NONE of them needed WORK OR REPLACEMENT. I took my car here for the first time about a year ago when my head gasket went tits up (lol). It was the closest place that I felt comfortable having my car towed to, because a friend of mine bought a Kia here and had only good things to say. My warranty covered all the work, so I honestly didn't give a shit what they did. I told them everything that was faulty and such and they fixed it... except the starter. They broke the plastic aesthetic piece that says what position the key is in, and my starter sometimes gets locked in the "ignition" position, so I have to manually pull it back to the "on" position. No big deal, but when they look it over and say they can't fix it, that's pretty weak, especially after I gave them over $2,000 worth of work (covered under warranty). I will never go there again and must recommend others to do the same. I will say though that their customer service is very high. Very friendly people and a nice waiting area. EDIT 06/20/2011: As I recall, I believe it took them less than a week to get all the parts in and to fix it. I brought it in on a Saturday afternoon. As well, 2 weeks ago, I took my car in to Grease Monkey (who are awesome), and turns out that there is some issue with my coolant. Some gunk on the radiator cap. I believe that has been there since I bought the car 3 years ago, but it's about always had minor heat issues in the summer. Point is, Chuck Olson's has checked my car a couple times, and no doubt saw the radiator cap (took it in on December, because that was the only place locally that was open on Saturday that already had my warranty records. Warranty was ending within a week). Don't trust them with radiator stuff! lol. EDIT 07/28/2011: Just last week I got my radiator flushed at a local mechanic shop, and the coolant lines were dirty as CRAP! Chuck Olson's obviously didn't do anything but replace the coolant in my system when they replaced the intake gasket. No decency to flush it. Very pathetic, considering the business I gave them. I have to rate them 1*.... they don't give a crap about customers, regardless of how much money you give them! EDIT 01/12/2012: This was probably about 3 weeks ago, but I was doing some maintenance on my vehicle, and the ignition cylinder got stuck in the START position and wouldn't turn CCW to shut off, so I pulled the whole assembly out (wasn't sure what to expect when I pulled out... yeah yeah, sex jokes). Anyways, after a bit of hunting, it turns out that there was a spring and a notch that were missing from the cylinder assembly. The ONLY explanation is that after Chuck Olson's "fixed" the anti-theft device (associated with the ignition cylinder), and they did fix it, some incompetent worker (or a scumbag.... intentionally put the INCOMPLETE assembly back in, knowing it was wrong) lost the spring and notch piece. My car hasn't had issues getting stuck in the START position since I got the ignition cylinder assembly completed by Astro Locksmith. FYI, the spring and latch held the cylinder INTO the dash. Without the spring and latch, the cylinder has movement FWD and AFT (backwards). That movement in the AFT direction blocks the assembly from properly turning in the CCW direction to the RUN position. Essentially, it slides off of it's track. Now, WITH the latch in place, the assembly has ZERO FWD-AFT movement, so the guides on the cylinder never "slide off of it's tracks". read more

Took them 2 weeks, 3 wrong parts to diagnose. Service was horrible. I had to call them multiple times to find out what was going on. At least they could call me to tell me they were inept. 3 wrong parts? Come'on did I take my Chevy to a Yugo Dealership??? Shouldnt you know how to fiz a faulty power window. The worst was when I finally got my car. They trashed it. It was dirty, filthy, bird poo'd all over. Horrible. Horrible product. Horrible service. Good Luck GM. Imagine you are strapped in an uncomfortable chair facing a wall, with electrodes taped to sensative body parts. Experience has proven that when the sales manager sits back down for the umpteenth time you are going to get a shock! That pretty much sums up my car buying experience last weekend. I just couldn't believe what he was trying to cram down my throat. Starting price on the white page before me was $2,000 higher than the advertised price. But, that's OK because that's what they were asking for it way back when. Oh, and by the way, it sold new for $XXX. As if any of that mattered. Isn't what a rational buyer is willing to pay for it today all that really matters? To further inflate this vehicle's value, he told me he found ten simillar vehicles within 25 miles that all had higher asking prices (and to prove it he even wrote down those prices on that same once-blank white paper. That should be proof enough for anyone.). Again, why waste my time. There's a reason none of those vehicles has sold! Duhhh.... After he tried to get their best offer lower for the third time, and just couldn't go any lower, I thanked him and left. Half way to the car he came rushing out and said he just spoke to the owner, and got my price authorized. Fastest phone call in history. They asked me to wait while they washed it and put gas in it. Sounded good at the time. Disappointed to see only a quarter of a tank of gas. Delfated to see the top of the SUV while standing on my porch at home. It hadn't even been hosed off. Sighhhhh... The extra star is because the initial sales person was very knowledgeable and nice. And the finance guy rushed us through very efficiently, asking us about an extended warranty, but professionally moving forward after our 'no-thank you". Otherwise - one star. read more

If you are buying a used car, buyer beware! I found them to be prompt about responding to my inquiry through Autotrader of course, but then it just kind of went south. It was such a stereotypical shady used car salesman type experience that I could go on and on... I mean, the guy first tried to tell me the price of the car was $4000 more than what they advertised, he gave me incorrect information about the car, he said he would find out about little things - like if there was a second key fob - but never did, he seemed irritated that I checked out the VIN... I could go on, like I said. Whatever though. I had done my research and I recognized this was a good deal despite my issues with the salesperson. I mean, I really wanted to give him and this dealership the benefit of the doubt. The inspection was scheduled in 36 hours and I could just buy the car and be done with the process of buying a used car, right? The salesperson was going to deliver and pick up the car even, so they can't be that bad, right? 30 minutes after I left the lot, he called me to say his manager wanted to sell the car to a wholesaler that was willing to pay the price advertised. He was being vague but I finally gathered that he wanted me to put down a $500 refundable deposit to show his manager that I was truly interested in the car. Um, I think paying for a $200 inspection shows that I'm interested, but ok, I kind of understand. I said I would talk to my husband then let him know. I called him back. I texted him 30 minutes later. I emailed him an hour after that. I waited to hear from him the next morning - but nothing. I emailed once more to say I was going to move on and he responded back immediately with "sorry for the confusion." I took my business elsewhere and had a pleasant experience at a competitor that didn't see me as a mark. Wake up Chuck Olson, everyone has a smartphone these days! read more
