The service department is an absolute nightmare to deal with and, unfortunately, VW's need to be serviced because they are VW's. We had an issue with a door not opening and were given the runaround for months by their service manager. When they finally obtained the new handle and scheduled the repair, I drove up to the shop and was turned away by the service manager because of some nonsensical reason; they made no attempt that morning to let us know that they wouldn't be able to work on the car and didn't apologize for wasting my time. We didn't reschedule immediately and got a nasty voicemail stating that if we didn't schedule the repair ASAP, they would return the part and we would have to go through the process again. We are contacting another dealer to see if we can have them take over servicing this vehicle. read more

Bought an ID.4 that I reserved on VW's website a year ago. This is my first time buying a car from a German brand. First the really important part -- this car is in high demand and they did not tack anything on top of MSRP for my reservation. The buying experience was different than what I was used to. The building was quiet. No slick salesman or sales manager. No confusing extra charges to ask about. No extra accessories tacked on. No pushing of dubious packages such as fabric protector or extra rust proofing. The only extra they offered was an extended warranty. I came prepared to pay cash but ended up financing some of it. They went through BECU and there was no markup. The rate was the same as listed on the BECU website. Clint was well versed with the car and spent several mini sessions teaching about the car between the waits on paperwork and loan processing. There was never a point where I felt bored waiting for someone to prepare paperwork. The process felt as efficient and straightforward as the Germans are known for. read more

In 7 years of owning a VW GTI, across two states, I've had the worst time dealing with the Service Department at Volkswagen Campbell. Do yourself a favor, save A LOT of money and get better far far better service at Performance Motors (that specializes in Euro cars and Volkswagens) further up the road in Lynnwood. After my latest service with them this week, it was the straw that broke the camel's back, this is my last time using them, and I suggest you do the same. To begin with, everything is more expensive here and they overcharge for nearly everything, parts, labor, diagnostics. A simple oil change will run you nearly 170$, when you can get it for cheaper elsewhere. Even when I was servicing my vehicle in Los Angeles' VW Dealer, oil changes were much cheaper. As for the service this week that made me stop using them, I brought my car in due to it not starting after having done a simple battery disconnect/reconnect when looking for source of a sunroof drain water leak near the passenger side A-Pillar. As usual, they charge 175$ for an hour of diagnostics, and somehow in that hour, during the first day, they weren't able to figure out why the car wasn't starting. They then called me the next day to authorize another 3 HOURS and extra 600$ of diagnostics because they couldn't figure it out. After calling around other mechanics and realizing VW Campbell's Service was just incompetent and taking advantage of me (they laughed at them not being able to diagnose within an hour), I asked to end service early. They spent another hour 'diagnosing' and the best they came up with is suggest 5000$ worth of parts replacements that they weren't even sure would fix the problem (and would have cost another 2000$ to fix if we exhausted those 5000$ worth of parts), a totally clueless and blind diagnosis. Given that they gave me nonsense/useless diagnosis, I asked I waive the extra hour of diagnosis they did when I came to pick up my car, and they wouldn't budge saying I approved it, blabla. I paid 450$ for them to give me a useless diagnosis that wasn't actionable and them having done essentially nothing in 2hrs. All I got was one page of useless blind notes. All throughout this process too, my Service Advisor Aaron was doing a terrible job at keeping me informed of any of the progress on my car. Any progress I had to drive myself by calling them for updates, because they weren't calling me. It took them 2 days to get to that nonsense diagnosis, because their techs couldn't figure it out at first, and were waiting on their foreman. In the end, with how unsatisfied I was with their service, I ended up biting the bullet and towing my car out of there to Performance Motors up in Lynnwood, who even just from phone calls already sounded much more competent and already provided better service than I ever had at VW Campbell. Within less than an hour they had diagnosed the issue and were able to get my car running again. It cost a grand total of 240$ for the diagnosis and fix, versus VW Campbell's 450$ of useless diagnosis and their 5000$ recommendation of fixes that may or may not have worked. Performance Motors is going the extra mile and looking at the original problem I had with interior water intrusion from the sunroof drain and have already given me a better plan on how they are going about fixing all this now that the car is running. In the end, I'm sure that will still cost less overall than VW Campbell as they were wanting to charge me 1000$ to even diagnose the water leak + more $ for whatever expensive fixes they come up with. I wish this was a one-off occurrence, but even at my previous service when I was having issues with my window getting stuck and my door lock not working, I ran into the same issues of them recommending blind and expensive 1000$+ parts fixes that didn't end up working and me having to bring it back only to be told, actually it's still broken, but working now, but will probably break again unless we order MORE 1000$+ parts. All that to say, enough is enough, I am done coming here. Do the same. read more

I have a lot of experience with Campbell Volkswagen after working there back in 2007-8, buying a car there in 2017, and having my car serviced there ever since. Honestly, all these experiences have been great. I am always greeted warmly and treated well. Their sales guy Clint is one of the best around. Many people dread buying a car or having their car worked on because of the stereotypical experience of pushy sales people or dishonest service people, but Campbell Volkswagen is different. My family was in the market for a bigger SUV and we went to check out the VW Atlas. Aaron was so kind and helpful and showed me all the trims and features on the atlas. He had no issue with bringing out several cars to show me differences in features and colors. Parents!!! I am writing this note, on behalf of my father, who had a WONDERFUL and EXCELLENT experience at Campbell VW on April 26th, with the successful service of his 2015 VW Jetta. I realize this is an older vehicle, but the key ignition was causing issues, to a point where we could not turn the car on or off, after numerous tries. I called many dealerships in the Seattle area, all gave me appointments 4 - 6 weeks out, and made no guarantee if it was a warranty issue. I called Campbell VW, spoke to REBECCA, and she was absolutely WONDERFUL and PROFESSIONAL, we reviewed the issue, she researched the VIN, saw that there was an issue that is warrantied for 10 years. REBECCA made a convenient appointment, so my father did not have to drive through rush hour, and she also, reserved a rental car, in case service had to keep the car. At the dealership, my father met, SONNY, who handled my father's issue, Sonny listened intently and respectfully, diagnosed the issue, and had the car serviced and repaired within 2 hours, with no cost, all under a VW warranty. During the waiting period, both REBECCA and SONNY checked in with my father and gave him regular updates on progress. In no time, the car was repaired, and after 1 full week, the car works better than new, since purchase in 2015, this car always had a sticky ignition, now it is so smooth and seamless. I just want to say THANK YOU to Campbell VW for the great service, professionalism, and quality, but more important, I want to recognize and say THANK YOU to two (2) great employees of Campbell VW, REBECCA and SONNY, they were both awesome and professional, and I am so impressed with how well they handled this service issue from start to finish. Had a really negative experience recently. I tried calling the service manager and was basically met with "sorry, there's nothing we can do". Had my car in for service on 11/30. Scheduled an oil change, replacement of a reverse light (was getting warning on my dash) and diagnosis of a brake issue (was getting "check brake fluid" warning. Was told they did a brake fluid flush and couldn't find anything wrong. They upsold me on a battery I didn't need (my bad, I guess) and said they couldn't figure out which bulb needed to be changed. After my appointment, I realized they didn't charge me for an oil change. I called them and they said they didn't do it because I never asked for one. WTF??? Fast forward 3 months (less 1500 miles later). My check brake fluid light goes on again. I take it to a dealership that's closer to me, they immediately tell me I have leaking calipers and that it's an extremely dangerous situation that should have definitely been spotted at my November appointment. I called the manager at Campbell who said there's no way they would have missed it. Said since he couldn't see the car there was nothing he could do. He also said that "it must not be leaking that bad if it took 3 months for the light to come on again". Basically said sorry and that he didn't have anything else to tell me. Meanwhile, I TRUSTED them that there was nothing wrong with my car, and all this time I've been driving in a potentially unsafe vehicle. Now I'm faced with an expensive bill and paying for yet another brake fluid flush. Campbell's lack of concern about the situation was really upsetting. I asked for a refund on the brake fluid flush (since I now need it again) and they refused because they can't just take my word for what's going on. I told them they were welcome to call the other dealership. They declined. So they're losing a customer and I'm spreading the word. Go somewhere else for your VW. read more

Took my Atlas in because the Adaptive Cruise Control sensor had an error again and because a previous warranty heater core replacement at Campbell resulted in mildew smells in the car. They refused to cover either under warranty, charging for both a HVAC cleaning service as well as a very expensive sensor recalibration. VW ACC sensors fail under light usage and neither VW or Campbell will cover it under warranty. I tried calling VW, who says to call the dealer. Campbell says to call VW. If you try to put everyone in the phone together, VW says they have a policy of not talking to dealers with customers present. The customer loses in the end. The final straw was being called a liar by Sonny when saying the error has been occurring for many years, even though the logs from my atlas from 4 years ago show the ACC error. Having owned 4 VW cars over 20 years, my next car will be from a different company. read more

I went in for an oil change and when I showed up I asked them to take a look at my front passenger tire because I had the low tire pressure sensor come on the day before and I filled the tire up with air and the sensor warning came on again that morning driving to the dealership. When I was told my car was done I specifically asked if my tire was looked at and if it was ok and was told by the advisor they could find nothing wrong with it. When I asked about the tire I had a feeling it was not even looked at the way I got a blank stare for a second and then a quick "no it looked fine". When I got in the car the low tire warning sensor was still on and so I went to a tire repair shop near my home and they advised I had a huge nail in my tire and they fixed it for free. The person that worked in my tire even commented that they couldn't see how anyone could miss such a big nail. I then looked at the service check off from Volkswagen for what was done and looked at and it says my tires were not checked. I am very disappointed in this service and how careless my safety was not put into consideration. I have had my Volkswagen 12 years and have never had someone outright lie to me when asked if a service was completed. The service advisor was friendly but I cannot bring my car to this dealership anymore after this incident. read more

Follow up to my earlier post. After they started the front brake pad and rotor replacement, Aaron said "you really need to do both front and rear - your rear brakes are at about 10%" I was so irritated by them that I said no, I'll wait until another time (and when I'd have another $1000 available) I switched to Pignataro in Everett. I had them look at the car today, thinking it probably would be time to do the rear brakes. Their report? Still had 40% life on them... This is months after Aaron at CN insisted I was inviting trouble. Looking back on CN's printed report for me, there was no mention of the rear brakes needing work. DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY. I don't know what has happened to the Campbell VW service department in the last year or so, but it has degraded terribly. I have been taking my Passat there for years and have trusted them with all of its services. I took my car in for the 90K service Friday. I Filled up with gas Saturday and checked the oil and the level was on add. I took it back to Campbell VW to have some added. The Customer Service person was very helpful. She brought a technician out to check it and add oil. He walked away without saying a word and wouldn't come back. She then went to get someone else who was obviously not a technician. Yes, he was able to add oil to my engine, but come on, bring a rag and clean up the oil you spill all over my engine. Again, I have been bringing my car to them for years. I have always paid with a credit card. As I went to pay yesterday, I was told there is now a fee for using a credit card. Not a huge deal but another new negative point. Had I known, I would have brought a debit card, checkbook, or cash. I have been waiting for a part for my car for over 4 months that affects the horn, airbag system, and all steering wheel controls. Yes, these are all safety items and VW knows of this issue. First they blamed the pandemic, then the chip shortage, and now the war in Ukraine for the lack of parts. I realize it is actually VW not supplying the parts and there is not much the dealer can do about it, but at least be proactive and try to get me the part. I called around to other dealers in the area and was told by three different dealers that it usually only takes 2 or 3 months to get the part in to fix the car. I recently bought an e-Golf from Alan Kemper at Campbell VW and really happy with the experience. For context I work in sales and have probably purchased 10 cars - I know a lot of the dirty sales tricks you'll see at dealerships. So here's the long and short of it - Campbell VW advertised a fair sale price, there were no gotchas, and no pressure. Alan was very forthright, knowledgeable, personable, and patient. Simply put Alan is exactly what I don't expect of a car sales guy, and for that I'm grateful. The finance desk was reasonably quick and accurate. I thought that I'd try Campbell Nelson for my next service requirements. I booked my car for service and received a loaner car with no fuss. The service was done at a premium cost and it wasn't until a couple weeks later that I realised a promised service wasn't completed. I called back to speak with that associate to learn that he no longer worked there. I explained my situation to the other tech who told me that because it wasn't written down, they couldn't fix what was originally promised. I explained the details even listing the other people at the counter who overheard our conversation but my story fell upon deaf ears. I've never returned there for service. I brought my new Volkswagon here for its first oil change, expecting that I would have my car washed and vacuumed and such things that you anticipate from a dealership service dept. Isn't that why one would pay the premium price and drive out of their way?? I purchased my VW in Vancouver, and because I was from out of town, I was told there, that any VW dealership would wash and vacuum my auto and care for it as if I had purchesed it from them because that is the VW standard. So naturally, I was really looking forward to the Service appointment to freshen up my car. Upon picking up my car I was really let down. I may as well have just gone to Jiffy lube. I even requested a wash and vacuum when I made the online appointment and also face to face when I dropped off my car. They told me they would be happy to vacuum and give me a Voucher to a "nice place" up the street for the wash. Upon picking up my vehicle, a Nissan employee checked me out and could not even tell me if they checked my tires. I walked to my car and it had not been vacuumed or washed. but they did give me a $2 coupon to go to the shell station across the street, which was very dirty looking and disgusting. No WAY am I going to get it washed there. Campbells doesn't seem to value customer service. A complete waste to go out of my way and over priced. read more

I wish I could give negative stars to this piece of shit place. They are the purest definition of STEALership I've ever seen. Taking advantage of old ladies in the service department and some managers red corvette parking in handicap walkways (we call those kind of bros "power bottoms") Anyways, the check engine light came on while our car was still under warranty and they charged $160+ for just the diagnostic test! National average cost of a diagnostic test is around $80. And then they said the repair would cost an additional $750+... all while the car is under warranty!!! Needless to say we are getting a second opinion and they are certainly not getting our repair business if the car actually needs fixing. On top of that, Trish in the service department is incredibly rude and has no business in a customer facing job. She even defended this company's past history of scamming customers saying "our only fault was that we got caught". HA! This is who we are supposed to trust to give us an honest diagnosis and repair?? Get the fuck out of here with that bull shit. Hide your kids and hide your granny. We ended up not purchasing a car with Campbell, but had a great experience working with Gani. He was very funny, but also helpful, and a great communicator. We just aren't 100% ready to buy, and he was very respectful of that, and still helped us shop- which is rare in his industry. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review (and this is dumb but I don't care) is that someone else microwaved fish in their office and I actually had to stop viewing the car I was looking at to step outside for some fresh air. Very professional and friendly. I had been searching for a vehicle and called around a few places. After being literally hung up on by another dealer I made an appointment with Campbell. Walked out the same day with my brand new car. Their COvid procedures had me feeling safe and worry free - they were transparent and informative and everything they said checked out with all the research I had done. They provided great incentives to purchase some requested aftermarket items (roof racks, board racks, etc and less than I could find them anywhere and faster too) and they have been helpful since I purchased it for anything I've needed. I appreciate their ability to make what is normally a frustrating experience into a quick, easy and smooth transaction that has moved into a good relationship with my dealer. read more

I purchased about a car a year ago from these guys, got one oil change and I'm just gonna say I'm not happy with the customer service or pricing. An oil change will run you close to $200 as apposed to $79-$99 ANYWHERE else. An employee there named Aaron has been an absolute thorn in my side and when I expressed my negative feelings about the way they do things he offered me a free oil change and said he would "make a note in the computer". Needless to say I showed up for my oil change today and they had absolutely no notes in file about a free oil change.
