We went into this business looking to replace an existing tonneau. The receptionist at the front desk showed us the only model that would work with our 2013 Toyota Tacoma and was obviously upset or disappointed when we didn't commit to getting this installed after a quote of $2,600. I wasn't clear if this estimate did or did not include tax and installation but left with the overall impression this place was not very professional and well run. Another employee was so loud I had trouble understanding the reception person we were trying to deal with. We ended up going with Truck Builders just down the street. We not only saved money, the whole experience from start to finished installation was excellent. read more

The people running this business are shy at the beginning I thought they were crabby. When they started talking they ended up being the sweetest people I've ever met. They're very generous and thoughtful. They're honest also which is so important. They've got some pretty good deals. You'd have to look for yourself to see what they have. They live a couple hours away from their business and they're still there first thing in the morning and their stuff is made pristine. I think they do repairs also. At the Des Moines location the office staff were very helpful and friendly. The installation process, in particular the installer, left a bad impression. Our new Leer canopy was installed (winter of 2025), with a 5 inch long scratch in the forward (cab end) window. The scratch was clearly visible when standing at the tailgate. Why this scratch was ignored by the installer was a mystery. The office staff ordered a replacement window (drop down style that can be removed). The new window was installed so tightly that it was difficult to remove and I was not able to reinstall it. Even installer was unsuccessful at reinstalling it. So, he spent about 20 minutes adjusting the frame so that the window was operable. Why the installer initially forced the window in without thinking about it being operable is another mystery. I will not return to the Des Moines location. Maybe the other locations do better at looking out for the customer during the installation process. read more

We purchased a nice canopy from here with a keyless lock, and the day we got it and got home, the keyless lock never worked, and being an hour away, we just used the key even though we paid for the keyless electrical since we just didn't have time to make the trip to ask if they would fix it. A year later, my husbands car was hit and the canopy door needed to be replaced, so i called and asked if they could replace the door and the lock, and read them the number to make sure it would be the same exact thing we had previously (but hopefully working this time), i was excited we can finally get the keyless lock fixed that never worked. WHen my husband brought the car in to have to canopy door replaced, they worked on it and my husband asked if they could make sure the keyless lock works. They looked at him and said we're not installing a keyless, you don't have that. They laughed as him and tried to make him look dumb like he didn't know what he was talking about. With all the electrical wires hanging, my husband wasn't sure what was going on so called me. I told him we do have it and it's suppose to be the same one and he just didn't want to make a fuss. When the car was ready, the lady at the front apologized and said it actually was suppose to be the keyless and they didn't order the right thing, she said they would order it and call us when it's ready to replace. It's been almost a year and still no call. Just recently, the key lock stopped working as well, it no longer locks with the key either. So on top of not having the keyless lock that I paid for, it just doesn't lock at all now even with a key, leaving everything in the canopy not secure. read more

I came here because I needed a part for my Leer canopy (Canopy World is the area Leer dealer). I was coming from the Eastside, so this was the most convenient location, which is why I picked this branch rather than the one in Des Moines, even though it had better reviews. In retrospect, it was worth saving the time/driving, but if I were buying something more expensive or more complicated, I'd probably take the time to go south for the apparently better service. The manager(?)/man who mostly works in the office, Mike, is grumpy as all get out. He's curt on the phone and in person and acts like answering questions, interacting with customers, etc is a chore. The woman who works in the office is a bit more reasonable. The office does not use any computer system--they just write everything down on the carbon copy work orders. This was fine for me because the thing I needed replaced was fairly straightforward. However, I'd be concerned about buying something more expensive or complex under that system: transposing a letter or number on a model, for example, could lead to big fit problems down the road especially since they don't have any way to double check a VIN electronically. In comparison to the office staff, the shop guys seemed a lot more friendly and helpful. They even washed my windows when they were done. However, Mike (the grouchy office one) would sometimes go out to the shop to help out (or hurry them up?). I suspect he's the reason that when my truck was returned to me, only 5 of the 6 c clamps had been reattached (one was just lying on the truck bed) and 2 of the 5 attached ones had been screwed on so poorly that they were easily loose to the touch. They don't seem particularly busy, but they did have to schedule me out about a week for a one hour appointment. Once I arrived on the scheduled day, they did get me in and out within pretty much exactly my estimated appointment time. Note for driving here: the only entrance I could find to the shop was coming from southbound Hwy 99 (you can't cross over from the north bound lanes). Google maps says there is an driveway entrance from the street behind the shop, but I could not find it anywhere; all the businesses in this strip seem to be separated by curbs and/or fences. So if you're coming from northbound 99, cross the highway, go around the block, and pull into the front entrance off of southbound 99. The driveway comes up a bit suddenly, so watch for the Value Village sign which is a little easier to see read more

I'm going to start by saying this is a review on an old visit. However, it was such a terrible visit, I feel it is important to let others know. First off, if they still have the grossly obese guy at the counter - run. He is a rude jerk, and acts like he's doing you the biggest favor in the world. I basically needed my canopy resealed, and in the process they warped the window that faces the cab so it became very hard to open. Whatever they did to reseal it was also done wrong, since it basically started leaking within months. He assigned Beavis and Butthead to work on it, and they were snickering the entire time I had any contact with them, and their poor worksmanship was obvious. I got a factory Toyota canopy from Leer, really not a particularly good one, and I blame Toyota AND Leer for that, but as I said, do your due diligence at this place, because my experience was less than stellar. I need the canopy resealed again, and I really don't want to go there. read more

I managed to find a previously owned canopy for my truck that even matched in color. I brought it in to this Canopy World for a re-seal. While I was there, I mentioned that I was concerned that the canopy would scratch the side of my truck bed. Even though that's just 'kind of one of those things that happens', the guys went above and beyond. They took extra steps to seal it and attach it to my truck in a way that it wouldn't rest right on the paint. I could not be any happier with the customer service I received. In 2019 I bought a new truck and wanted to trick out sleeping space in the back so went to Canopy World. The overall experience was great, they were very informative and almost anti-sales pressure. The buying experience itself was slick, basically picking from different models and then layering on options. Installation was very quick, I stood around and watched (I could have gone for lunch or something but wanted to see how the installer did it in case I wanted to remove the thing later). Fast-forward to now, I had an issue where there was a squeak coming from my canopy. When I called Canopy World to ask about getting an appointment they just told me to come by at my convenience. Turns out they were able to do an eyeball assessment, spotted the problem immediately, and fixed it in about 5 minutes (they scooted the canopy back about a 3/8 of an inch). Really glad they guided me toward the drop-in model v. appointment. Anyway, great overall service, I highly recommend these guys. read more

Went looking at canopies and checked out all the places Google pointed me to. I chose a Leer from Canopy World because they had the most professional looking place by far. Leer had the options I was looking for and the price was competitive to say the least. It was the best price for value I saw. I also ordered a BedRug and has them install it too. Those are very cool and that was a great decision. The canopy arrived when they said it would. Installation was on time too. In August I originally ordered a canopy from the place a few miles north, and waited until December for delivery, but then the canopy was the wrong size. I cancelled my order and went to Canopy World, and the service was 100% professional and efficient, plus the canopy came in about a month earlier than promised. The installer was extremely good, took time to explain all the details of the canopy. Over a year and a half ago when I bought my tundra I stopped by to order my undercover Tri- fold tonneau cover.They didn't install it correctly from the start and the rails pushed up my pickup bed railing caps in the corners causing my paint to chip on both sides of the railing caps!! The company undercover would not warranty there product and gave me the run around. The owner of canopy world sit there and argued with me and finger pointing the blame saying we have installed hundreds of these with out a problem..Mow I have to schedule an appointment to get my paint chips and body work repaired costing 2,300 dollars. The installer didn't care and didn't mention when I was there., Their sales must be good in prime location so won't care about loosing a few buyers. I bought my canopy here in 2006 and have kept it on my truck through moves all across the country. The LEER canopy always looked great until this last year. In the last year the clear coat started coming up. I wasn't too surprised being that the same is occurring on my truck body paint. I recently moved back to the area and decided to stop in and ask how much it'd be to paint the canopy and if they did that type of work. The manager Mike informed me to bring in the receipt, as it should be covered under warranty. I sent in a copy of the receipt and pictures of the clear coat coming up and he asked me to come in to take it off to ship for repair under warranty. This company cares about their customers to ensure you get the service you deserve. Great customer service! I had to get my canopy taken off for a recall on the 3rd brake light and they stored it for me for a short time. When they reinstalled it they replaced all the seals, washed the canopy inside and out and cleaned the windows. Staff was friendly and easy to work. read more

Lair to start, Not telling the truth and damaging my truck. Backed the truck into their shop taking out my taillight, but lied about it! Before I went up to thier shop to have canopy lock worked on, wiped my lights down with a clean cloth, only ones to put my truck in reverse, next morning wiped lights down and noticed the taillight was broken. Returned to ask what happened and was asked to leave the property. NOT HAPPY, still lying after reported to BBB. read more

FANTASTIC PRODUCT AND SERVICE! All within a matter of 4 months I purchased and had installed an A.R.E. truck cap and Snugtop canopy from two other dealers. Both of those caps did not fit properly. I was a lucky one. I was able to return them both and get all of my money back. The LEER product should have been my first choice to begin with. It started with a phone call to order a part. He took my number. Never called me back. So I went in a few days later. Ordered the part. About a week later it came in. I scheduled an appointment. I was on my way and they called 10 minutes prior to ask me if I were coming? I get there right on time. Tech shows up 10 minutes later. With Jack in the Box in his hand. Goes around the corner, comes back a few minutes later and grabs my keys. The parts were right in front. Moves my truck. 10 minutes later, comes and grabs the part. 25 minutes later it's done. Hands me the keys and walks away. Not an "I'm sorry for being late." Or a "Thank you for your business." I get in my truck, ac is on? I check their work. They used old hardware? We bought a new 2014 Silverado and because we camp we wanted a canopy on top. We live on the eastside, so Edmonds seemed like the closest place to get the canopy put on. So here goes the story... ready.. get your wine... I called and spoke to the lady there and told her I needed a canopy for my new truck. We spoke about the year of the truck, I gave her my VIN # and the color code #. I picked out the kind of canopy I wanted. I did all this over the phone and she took down notes, as did I. She said it would take about two - three weeks to get it. NP I say I have time before we leave for our camping trip. I put down 300.00 as a deposit and I trusted it was taken care of. I get a call about 13 days later, saying my canopy is here. So I make an appointment and drive from Bellevue to Edmonds. A few moments later I am told the canopy does not fit.... I am like how is that possible? Here is the best part.. she pulls out her hand written notes to show me what she believes I told her about the truck... her hand written notes. Oh didn't I mention that they don't use a computer, of any kind. Not a laptop, not a smart phone, not a tablet, not a surface, NOTHING! They use NCR paper orders and write everything by hand. SO ... she tells me that I told her that the truck was a short bed because she wrote down S/B and then her boss wrote down that the bed was a 5.5 inch bed. I said not I told you it was the NEW 2014 Silverado and that the bed was a STANDARD bed, and that it was 6.58 feet long. I also gave you the VIN #.. so even IF I had told you something inaccurate, you could have easily looked up the VIN with Chevy to check on the size. But wait remember they don't have a computer and they do everything by hand. She said this is an expensive problem... I said NOT MY expensive problem. So they ordered another canopy and she proceeded to tell me how she never makes a mistake and that my information must have been wrong. Well come ON its the 21st century. There are MULTIPLE ways of checking if something is right.. like the VIN # of the truck! WITH A COMPUTER! So I got a call back a couple weeks later and when I said thanks I will be in tomorrow .. he simply HUNG UP ON ME! The second canopy did fit.. thank god! And the gentleman who installed it was SUPER nice. He showed me how it worked, how to use the new key system etc. Nice. BUT I do not recommend them, at all! The canopy itself that came from Leer was good. I do not like the clamping system they use to keep it on the truck but nothing I can do about that now. This company needs to step into the 21st century. Use a computer, check your numbers, check your information, and don't blame the customer for a mistake that could have been easily stopped simply by pulling up the VIN # before you ordered something. I wasted more time with this company, calling and calling and talking to someone when I could have easily ordered this canopy online with the click of a button. And I am pretty sure their business would expand if they just used what the rest of us call... a computer and the internet!!! Not that they will read this review anyway since they don't have the internet or a computer ... :) Go to another place, there are plenty around. Don't waste your time here. read more

Great work and service! I brought my truck in to have a leaky truck cap repaired. I assumed it was a gasket that needed to be replaced. I bought my truck used and it came with the Leer cap. Even though the cap wasn't purchased through Canopy World, they still helped me out (at more than a fair price). Mike, Joe, and Mikey were super helpful. They immediately noticed the carpet in the cap hadn't been properly trimmed, a latch hadn't been properly installed, and a screw/puncture was the combined source of leaks. These issues were promptly fixed (and they even helped me repair the rear brake light wiring that I didn't know wasn't working). The rear cap window now closes properly, is sealed, and no more leaks. Plus you can't beat their prices. I will definitely be back if I ever need another cap or any work done. Thanks for the awesome service! read more

I drove into Canopy world two weeks ago and I am still Shocked how Awesome the service was! Purchased 2007 Dodge 2500 that came with a Leer canopy, I noticed several things that needed to be repaired or replaced on the canopy. They were very helpful and did not try to up-sell me on anything I did not need. They made suggestions but that does not mean I had to buy everything.. They were very good about checking the entire canopy and all the moving parts. Replaced the lock, new gasket and the fixed the pass through slider. GREAT job!! read more

I've been meaning to write these guys a raving review but had been moving and forgot about it. We bought a big ol' truck to do the move who's canopy struts were shot. This of course hindered the loading and unloading in the most inconvenient way, so I set out to buy new ones. A search through a few general auto stores sent me to Canopy World. I brought the truck in so they could take a look and found out my canopy brand was out of business, however "Tom" went out of his way to help me out. After some digging around and screw driver work I was blessed with a used set that worked perfectly at no cost. I am really judgmental about businesses and their employees practicing good business ideals and decisions. Tom never pressed me to order in some pricey new struts or to buy a new canopy or lock as mine was broken. I have a beat up old truck and he knew that wasn't what was best for me. Word of mouth is worth it's weight in gold when building/maintaining a business and all I can say is these guys have true integrity and a helpful spirit- THANK YOU! read more

Our Ranger is our only vehicle. We have one of those spray-in, indestructible bed liners and we've used it to haul everything from garden waste to luggage for trips. It didn't take but a couple of Costco runs though before we wished we could use the truck bed as a trunk. Canopy Word made our wish come true. They have different styles and sizes to choose from and they can exactly match the paint of your truck according to vehicle manufacturer's specs. Now, when we go on a trip, we don't have to worry about the weather or the security of our stuff. Tonneau covers are easily removed in case you need to haul something major and having them on your truck significantly improves gas mileage by cutting down the amount of drag. Canopy World's experts install the covers so that they are water resistant and have a solid fit. If you have a truck, trust me, you need one of these. We've had ours for a couple of years now and we still love it. If nothing else, just go to CW, talk to the friendly staff, take a brochure, and check out the inventory. I had to replace my back canopy window so we ordered it over the phone at Canopy World. If you do the same thing please have a conversation with them about the GASKET that the window sits on and forms a seal to prevent water leaking into your canopy...this is ordered and sold seperately which no one told me and they never even mentioned anything about the gasket when selling us the back window. ONE WOULD THINK THAT A NEW WINDOW WOULD COME WITH A NEW GASKET TO FIT THAT WINDOW (SILLY ME)! They worked on installing my window for just over an hour which cost $489.00 and it was not until I got home that I found the puddle on my canopy floor. The new window was installed on the OLD gasket which had come loose on the top right corner and there was no inspection done by the installer to verify a sure fit and it leaked...I called them to inquire about this and was told that my old gasket was falling apart (so they noticed it and said nothing to me while I was there) and that I would have to order a new one and that would cost an additional $60.00 + $32.00 additional labor. I called back a second time just to mention that in the future maybe they could have the installer do a check of the work and at least talk to the customer while they are there to insure no one else has to go through this experience and I was met with a defensive response and the point was lost...so if you have anything replaced on your canopy here MAKE SURE YOU TALK TO THEM ABOUT THE GASKET AND INSPECT THE WORK YOURSELF TO VERIFY THAT IT IS A SURE FIT IN ORDER TO AVOID A LEAKY CANOPY WINDOW LIKE WHAT I NOW HAVE. read more
