We had reserved a table on the upstairs outdoor patio, and Mother Nature absolutely delivered with gorgeous weather. Add in the lively, upbeat atmosphere, and we were off to a great start! Our server, Lisa, was fantastic from beginning to end! She was attentive, engaging, and full of great recommendations for drinks and shareable plates. We were in excellent hands! First up was the Episode 163 Chef Board, loaded with a chef's selection of thinly sliced meats, cheeses, and snacks. Then came the Wagyu Pigs in a Blanket with honey mustard crème fraîche (yum!) and Crispy Brussels Sprouts with gochujang, mint, and cilantro dip. We followed those with White Truffle Deviled Eggs topped with crispy prosciutto and chives, and Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp stuffed with cornbread dressing and served with pimento aioli, Cajun butter, and Parmesan. Talk about a table full of tempting bites! By this point, we were pretty sure we couldn't eat another thing. But then Lisa started talking desserts... and suddenly, we found room! We couldn't settle on just one, so naturally, we ordered THREE to share. Because why not? The Monkey Bread with cinnamon apple brioche and vanilla ice cream was downright delicious. We loved it and I gave it 5 stars and so looked forward to returning. This time, however, the experience was a bit of a disappointment. My ratings for this experience in July 2026: Service: 5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Food: 3/5, which is generous. I could easily go 2 stars. Let me start with the positives. Our server, Madeline, was excellent. She was personable and efficient. She missed on her recommendation but I think that was more the kitchen than her. She was there when we needed her without being overbearing. She labeled our take home boxes so we knew what was inside. Nice touch. The ambience is upscale without being pretentious. There was one a group across the restaurant that was so loud that my wife and I had some difficulty conversing, but I understand that is not something the restaurant can control. The restaurant was nearly full on a Friday when we entered about 7pm and when we left there was a long line of people waiting for a table, so I guess the restaurant is doing something right. What the restaurant can control is the food, and it was not up to par. We started with a chopped romaine salad, which is basically a Caesar. It had too many spoiled (wilted or brown) pieces of lettuce and was way overdressed. Quality control needs to improve. The kid wanted pasta as usual but their offering was with pesto and that was a no-go so Madeline had the kitchen do an off menu pasta with red sauce. I appreciate the gesture. The sauce was not acidic but the pasta was al dente and the kid was not used to that, so she did not really like it. Not the restaurant's fault on that one. The wife had the daily special, short rib stroganoff, and said it had no flavor. I did not try it but I assume the meat was not seasoned. I had the chicken parm with spaghetti from the "classics" portion of the menu. I was not impressed. I expected the spaghetti to be on the side but it was on top. The chicken had a strong burned flavor so I wondered if the spaghetti was on top to cover the burn? My pasta was al dente which was fine with me but overall the dish lacked flavor except for a burnt taste. I would not order it again. Overall, all our dishes missed the mark in one way or another. No one enjoyed their food. Maybe we ordered incorrectly, although you would think that ordering the daily special and a "classic" would be safe. Maybe the kitchen had an off night when it was so busy. The demand for a table was at variance with the quality of the food, which was average at best. At least the drinks were good.

The seasoning completely overpowered the shrimp, so I ended up picking it off and enjoying the pasta on its own. The Bowen Cheeseburger was excellent, as always. Just keep in mind that you can't request it medium-rare since it's a smashburger. For dessert, I ordered a slice of cheesecake, which comes with the same blueberry compote served with the Fried Brie. It was delicious and earned a solid 9/10 from me! Overall, the food was great, as usual. Aside from the overly salty shrimp and the longer-than-quoted wait, we enjoyed our visit. I'd absolutely come back, especially for that Fried Brie!

Only writing a review because the positive reviews made me come and spend way too much money here. The design of the restaurant is really good. Neighborhood feel, the staff is obviously trained and trying hard to work out the kinks. Really just wanna focus on the food. This is generic/Sysco stuff that didn't sit well at all. Kids liked the fried cheese. The hamburger is nothing special. Same with the pizza - just obviously a Fox concept, like true food's pizza - lacks anything memorable. Lots of salt and low quality oils that make you feel so heavy after eating it. The steak frites wasn't horrible but also not worth what we spent for it. Just kinda left here longing for a neighborhood place with a chef behind it not a restaurateur. This concept felt so generic and uninspired. I'm sure they'll sell a ton of alcohol and make money (it was quite busy and even though takeout organizations looked like a mess) you know this food is high margin. Doubt there's anything here that'll get me to come back, and that's ok. Just was so excited because this is around the corner and it's replacing breadwinners which had some love in their food. read more

Doughbird in Dallas is a fun spot and we always have a good time here. The wood fired pizza was amazing and so fresh! The flavor was great and the portion was just right. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick and easy. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, a perfect place to hang out. Prices are more than fair for what you get!
