Just had the best dinner with Dana as our waiter and Bryce! They were so great! We had so many laughs and the best food!!

"Artisan" is technically defined as a high quality product. If this is considered to be in the same category, then they lowered the standard. I ordered the mushroom and the Brussel sprout pizzas. "Dough" doesn't refer to the stuff the crust is made from, but the amount you'll pay. The pizza is good, don't get me wrong, but for the price you can get pizza for a month somewhere else. Got the Maizy pizza. Not bad but the area of the pie containing the chorizo and corn was minimal compared to the size of the pie. Lots of dough for dough. MEH. read more

Came for a super delicious business lunch. Service was attentive and friendly. Deviled eggs appetizer was unusual and tasty and beautifully presented. Kale salad -- I am not usually a huge fan of raw kale! - actually made kale taste great. And the ultimate: this place makes a delicious gluten free pizza. Had mine with spinach, very satisfying. Super layered flavor elevates wood fired pizza to a stellar level. I have eaten at Dough several times and every time has been great. I highly recommend the pancetta farm egg and potato pizza, and the gnocci is awesome too. I'm an adventurous eater and even tried the chicken liver toast tips. Honestly everything I've tried so far has been top notch. I love that it's BYOB and it's a great place to go with a group of friends on a friday or saturday night to share some great italian style dishes and enjoy a great casual, yet classy atmosphere with some drinks. The place is busy, but the staff are so attentive and friendly that you truly feel welcomed and appreciated. I love that the owner came out and personally asked me what I thought of my dish. This is not a place where they simply throw things together, there is thought and careful preparation put into every dish, which is what makes the fresh menu so great. We come here all the time and love it, but the service last night stood out. We got off to a rocky start; our reservation was for 8:00 and we got seated almost thirty minutes later. Our waiter, Dana, came over and greeted us and, while we were friendly, he immediately read the table and asked if we'd had to wait. He repeated the hostesses's apology, made a few jokes, promptly got us wine glasses (smart!), and before we knew it, none of us remembered the wait. From then on, the meal was flawless, everything from quality of food, to its timing, to Dana's attentiveness. He was outstanding and made us regulars have a standout night. read more

Dough is always great! The entire staff, including management, is very friendly and will take a minute to stop and speak with you! The menu is always great and changes seasonally, the specials are consistently amazing and everything is always fresh. We decided to have dinner here last night because we wanted to try something different & after reading the reviews we were hoping the pizza would be better than most. Sadly we were disappointed. First we ordered under the small plates the shrimp. I'm sorry but 5 little cocktail sized shrimp for $12 was a bit ridiculous, my husband almost laughed when the plate arrived. The taste was average nothing special. Ok so we ordered the plain cheese & tomato pizza for our 6 year old son & the sausage pizza for my husband & I to share. Once again disappointed. We were expecting an amazing tasting pizza since it is cooked in a wood fired oven but the flavors fell flat. Burnt around the edges & not crispy. The sausage pie was lacking in flavor, the cheese pie was better but nothing to write home about. I'm sorry but for the price i could get a full size pizza with flavor & taste from our local pizzeria. The service was excellent, i'll give you that. the waitress was friendly & attentive. We have been to Dough many times--we live in town and we love to bring our friends and family here when they visit us. Tonight's visit was the best visit yet. First of all, our server, Dana, was awesome. Funny and genuine and made us feel welcome and at-ease right away (we had all had very long days at work so this is priceless). We tried the spaghetti squash appetizer and not only was it outstanding, it gave us new ideas for how to cook spaghetti squash ourselves at home when we do it! Also, Dough has officially outdone themselves with their new cauliflower pizza crust option! I tried a traditional Margarita pie on this crust and it was outstanding. As someone who has been gluten-allergic since the 90s, I'm thankful whenever someone makes the effort, but this is above and beyond. Delicious and amazing. I already love living in Caldwell and Dough makes me even happier about it. And we were so glad we got to sit out back and enjoy the garden while there's still time in the season. We love this place. I went here for my birthday for the first time and had high expectations, they were highly surpassed. The zucchini crisp were unique but delicious. The meatballs were good and most importantly healthy. Before I move on I would like to say that service was ten out of ten and all the ingredients are from a local farm and are fresh and healthy. The decor is also very unique, but nice. Next, the pizza was simply AMAZING and had great combos including barbecue chicken pizza and classic pizza. you can watch them make it in the brick oven and you can smell the food. I must say I would highly recommend you check this place out. read more

The food is creative, fresh and always spot on! Menu is small but the specials are always a viable choice and adults and kids love the pizza and mac and cheese. okay here's the problem 3 pizzas a small plate of meatballs for 5 of us and we were still hungry and that cost $69.00 before tip. Service was excellent as it should be with these prices!. I'm sorry but if I want to spend $18.00 on a pizza it should at least feed 2 people unless it's got foit gras or caviar on it!! the food was decent, meatballs delicious, special pizza good, honestly the plain pizza nothing special, crust good but not enough on it, especially the plain pie. Sorry when I can get a large 16 inch brick oven for $18.00 or $25.00 with all the toppings in montclair njj not sure why i would come back here. read more

Love this place! I'd been here a few times, but I had friends in town and kept saying how I wanted to bring them. The four of us made an online reservation on a Saturday night for 7:30. Unfortunately, it was packed and we wound up waiting for over a half hour. Their waiting area is super tight so we kept bumping into people. I started getting annoyed but what can you do? The hostesses apologized and when we were sat, they told us they were sending us out a couple of appetizers to thank us for waiting. Very nice gesture. Our server was terrific. I wish I got her name. Halfway through our meal, my friend accidentally spilled water on my short rib pizza. I was actually full anyway so it was fine. When the waitress saw half of my pizza was left, she asked if I didn't like it. I explained the story. A few minutes later, she came back with new plates. She felt bad and put in an order for another pizza for us! I could barely eat anything else, but it was such a nice gesture! Food was terrific. My friends loved it! This is hands down my favorite place in town. I love that they have a few staples but also have plenty of seasonal items that are not only unique but local and fresh. My wife and I have tried everything from soups, salads, pizzas to entrees and I have never been disappointed. While it isn't exactly cheap it certainly isn't unreasonable either when you consider the quality/freshness of the food. When you walk in don't be fooled by the servers who all look like they are still in college and you would assume don't give a crap. They know what they're doing and they do it well. Ask for Amanda she's our favorite. Finally, I just like the place itself. The outside patio where they grow their own tomatoes is great in the summer and fall (they have heaters) and the inside is I guess you could say rustic. Dough is one of the few places I actually get excited to eat at anytime. read more

My husband and I live right around the corner from this restaurant. This location was the previous location of our favorite restaurant in Caldwell and we felt weird going. We finally went about 2 months ago and we were not that impressed. We had 2 artisan pizzas and an appetizer as well as 2 soft drinks and our bill was $60.00! 60.00!!!!. Way Way overpriced. Absolutely delicious. Had the zucchini crisps and I would go back just for another order. The spicy dipping sauce is divine. Shared the capicola pizza which was spicy, flavorful and crispy. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because I think that they are a little pricey. Check on their lunch menu for some specials. read more

I had a bad take out experience during their first week, but their food had some great points to it so I tried a dine in experience. With that said, the pizza definitely holds up better fresh than stuffed in a box. The pizza to crust ratio was much better this time. The crust held up to the weight of the pizza. It was flavorful and executed well. We also had the meatball appetizer. Tender- perfect texture IMO. It was really tasty and fresh. I'm glad I went back to try them. I really enjoyed ordering takeout from this place. We got the pork belly and soppressetta pizzas. Both were fantastic and the overall experience was very pleasant. In comparison to Ah'Pizz in Montclair, I would say this place is a bit more intimate when observing the dining room and that the pizza crust is softer than the one's from Ah'Pizz either way both are great and if you liked Ah'Pizz you should give dough a shot. read more

Farm to table menu that is always fresh, inventive and delicious! The pizzas are perfect with crunchy crusts and seasonal combinations for toppings. Can't go wrong with their basic Margherita pie but always ask about the specials. Apps are limited but if you add one of their seasonal salads or soups to your pizza order you will not be disappointed. Staff is friendly, owner/chef is knowledgeable and welcoming. So this is my first ever review! I enjoyed myself so much that I signed up on Yelp! But enough about that, let's talk about the food! I had the Beet Salad and the Mushroom Pie. All YUM! Who knew you could get gourmet pizza like that? I like the fact that the chef gets locally sourced and organic products - that deserves an extra star! The owner even came around and chatted with us for a bit asking how we like everything and also asked for suggestions and feedback - nice guy. The decor was cool too. I was told that they just opened the room we were led to. I also heard that they have a nice outdoor seating area in the back.
