My husband, my young daughter and I walk in and are seated right away which was nice. I mention that we want to order some pizza for my daughter and the server tells us they don't serve pizza in the restaurant portion so they make us move to a table in the pizzeria right in front of the counter. THEN when a server comes to set us up with plates and silverware, the same woman that made us move tells the server "they're not ordering dinner, they just want pizza". It was the strangest initial experience at the restaurant. We order mozzarella sticks which I did not like. My husband got the mozzarella en carrazo because he wanted to try it and I liked that even less. I got the bruschetta pizza. I liked the bruschetta however the crust was stale. The one thing I really enjoyed was the mariners sauce that was served with the bread.

A #7 w/Breaded Eggplant/Fresh Mozz., Arugala. I added roasted peppers to it doused w/balsamic vinegar.

Take out ordering is a breeze. The counter staff is well trained, and the food is delicious.

We were there 9/27/23 Service was amazing, everyone was attentive but not overbearing. The bread and Margherita sauce were delicious. I don't usually eat bread but the sauce was so good you just want to sop it all up with bread. I could just eat this all day lol Grilled Octopus was tender yet grilled, not rubbery or tough Chicken Giambotta was good but I enjoyed my hubby's Pork Chop Special (forgot what it was called) and he liked mine better so we swapped lol. The pork chop was delicious, nice thick slice. We came here because they were working on opening in Hackensack and heard it would be their 3rd location. So a little google search and Caldwell was closest for us to scout. ;)

In the past (about 5ish years ago) I was here a handful of times - dinner, plus a few lunches. For takeout lunch I always ordered the house salad with grilled chicken. Everything was always good. BUT customer service was always iffy. It was my experience back then that the girls taking orders weren't the friendliest. Not that I needed to be gushed over, but a smile and a "thank you" isn't that hard. The guys on the other hand were friendlier. On Saturday I popped by on my way to an appointment and got a slice of pepperoni pizza to hold me over until I got home. The pizza IMO was OK, but definitely not the best I've ever had. I'm not a fan of thick crusts, and this slice had that. The one saving grace was the pepperoni. But let's face it, anything with pepperoni is good. I can't really give 4 stars because of the pizza experience. But the guy who helped me was very sweet

    Fried Calamari

The food was perfect. We started out with fried calamari and warm red sauce and a steaming bowl of pasta faigolia soup. I preorder my chicken cacciatore on the bone because it takes about a hour to cook. It was so so tasty and the mushrooms, onions and peppers were done just right the sauce wasn't too sweet. My husband had spaghetti with clam sauce and the sauce was topped off with the right amount of lemon and butter. Our friends had chicken parmigiana and veal scallopini. Veal and chicken done to perfection. The waiter knew how to serve the food and when to come by to see if we needed anything else. So much food, enough for dinner for the next night. Too full for dessert. Highly recommend going to Forte in Verona,NJ off of Bloomfield Ave

    Penne Rigatoni Vodka Pizza

Without a doubt the best penne vodka slice I've ever had. A lot of pizza places make the dough and throw on some penne vodka pasta and when you go and try and eat it the pasta falls right off the pizza. At Forte however, you'll notice how heavy each slice is because it's a dense slice of pizza, with baked penne vodka pasta on top. Not only do you get the gooey flavor from the mozzarella cheese of the pizza, but also get to enjoy penne vodka pasta piled on top. Hoping to go back tomorrow if I can talk my friends into going with me.

    Pappardelle Quattro

Forte is a cute spot for Italian food. I usually get the parpadelle quatro, which is delicious and hits the spot every time. The person I went with got the pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was good, but I didn't love where they sat us which was right next to the counter where folks pick up their orders. The ambiance is typically for a pizzeria/ristorante.

The menu is really well done. It's plant-based, made with coconut milk and brown sugar, and topped with coconut flakes. The portion was easily enough for four people and absolutely delicious--super fresh and flavorful. Our server, Tara, was wonderful--so sweet and attentive. She checked in often, kept our drinks filled, and made sure we enjoyed everything from the food to dessert. The interior is nicely decorated with a cozy Italian vibe that makes it a great place to sit back and enjoy a few pies. If you follow Barstool, you might remember that Portnoy gave this place an 8.8 -- and it's well deserved. I can personally attest to that score. We started with a plain pizza, just like Portnoy did, and he absolutely nailed it. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, with great flavor and not greasy at all. Next up was the Easy on the Pizzi -- vodka sauce base, crispy cup pepperoni, mozzarella, fresh burrata, basil, and a drizzle of Mike's Hot Honey. The combination of rich, savory, and slightly sweet flavors worked perfectly together. We also tried The Nicky Newarker, topped with thinly sliced sausage and onions on that signature thinny-thin crust. Another great choice. The pictures really don't do these pizzas justice, though they'll definitely make your mouth water. Our server was fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. I'm already looking forward to going back to try more of their specialty pies. If you love thin-crust pizza and you're in the area, this spot is absolutely worth checking out.

I'm honestly shocked this place isn't packed wall-to-wall every night -- this is the kind of pizza you expect to find in Naples . From the second you walk in, you know they take their craft seriously. Stacks of real wood, the authentic Pavesi Italian oven, and trays of perfectly risen dough balls -- it's the real deal. No shortcuts, no gimmicks. Just craftsmanship. I ordered two pies: White Pie with Mushrooms & Olives Incredible. The crust has that perfect leopard-spotted char, blistered just right, crispy on the outside but still soft and airy inside. The ricotta and mozzarella are super fresh, the mushrooms taste like they were sliced minutes before hitting the oven, and the olives add the perfect salty punch. Every bite tasted like it was straight out of a wood-fired pizza boutique. Classic Margherita One word: unreal. The sauce is bright and fresh, the cheese melts into little pools of heaven, and the basil actually survives the oven without turning bitter. Balanced, clean, and addictive. The crust is truly the star -- you can tell they use high-quality "00" flour and slow fermentation. Light, airy, not heavy at all. The kind of crust you want to eat all of, even the charred ends. The owner Mike clearly cares about every detail -- from the dough to the toppings to the oven temperature. This isn't "pizza shop pizza," this is artisanal, handcrafted, authentic wood-fired pizza done right. Prices are super fair for this quality. Cash-only but totally worth it. If you love real Neapolitan wood-fired pizza, put this place on your list immediately. Easily one of the best pies I've had in NJ -- maybe the best. I'll definitely be back .
