    Mini Rice Balls
    Rachel V.

Here for an event. It's a small space but they can accommodate a small party. Loved the calamari- very tender with a light crispy coating. Pizza was good too. Didn't really like the rice balls. They lacked flavor and texture as they were served in a sauce. Didn't really like the eggplant parm- it was ok but eggplant was too thin, tasted more like breading than eggplant. Probably 3.5 stars but I rounded up due to great service.

I love Italian and couldn't wait to try! When I arrived, I parked in their driveway. I walked into a cute takeout/dine in restaurant! I sat and was served by Walter, and he was great! This place is BYOB. I ordered the Mini Rice Balls, Fra Diavolo Mussels, Chicken Marsala and salad, and Shrimp, Scallop, and arugula in pink sauce. My favorites were the mussels and the pasta dish! I also had the rice pudding for dessert, and that was delicious! All in all I had a good experience!

It took a bit of work finding Gencarelli's today, and the parking here is a bit tough, but I did make it here for lunch. Here's the good news....the slice of mushroom pizza I had was very good. It's a nice thin crust pizza. Only issue was that it could have been served hotter. There's a large dining room with a server, but if you're just getting a slice, you can eat in there as well.

Gencarelli's has been around for over 25 years so you know they must be doing something right over here and that fact remains totally obvious in every delicious bite of literary everything that comes outta this super legit old school Pizzeria Restaurant. And lately I gotta say that their one-of-a-kind thin crust style Pizza has gained all my attention and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to break its hold.    It's pretty easy to see what makes this Pizza something special even from the first glance you take of it. Pies here appear to be larger than most other places around and I think that's because they use the same amount of dough but they just expand it in order to keep that thin crispy crust texture that they're locally known for.    Toppings are also uniquely special here and certain combinations can't even be found anywhere else that I know of, which also adds to the "cravability factor" this spot maintains over my tastebuds. All ingredients are fresh and noticeably appealing with each and every tremendously tasty bite. Yup, I'm definitely hooked on this Cheesy, Saucy, yet firmly flexible thin crust style Pizza and I'll do my best to keep my composure as I wait patiently until my next visit.   I should also mention the incredible menu full of Italian inspired food that they offer here too other than what I've already covered, but since exceptional Pizza is the first thing you see upon entering it's pretty easy to overlook everything else. Come And Get Your Munch On!!

Flew in for a work trip this week and we decided to order Gencarelli's Pine Brook last minute through UberEats. I took these photos midway through the meal. Being a vegetarian, and without seeing clear labeling on their menu, I called the restaurant ahead of time to find out what was safe to order. The guy I chatted with (possibly the Manager, Walter?) was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure he got me the right info for dishes, and communicated with the cook after we ordered to avoid any mix-ups. All of the food (cheese ravioli with parmesan, garlic sauteed spinach, beet salad, plain rolls) was fresh and the quality was exceptional. Portions were large and I was able to eat on them for a couple days. The plain cheesecake was literally the best I've ever had in my life. I'm still dreaming about it and wish I could have it shipped to TX. I definitely recommend Gencarelli's Pine Brook for a delicious night out or even a relaxing night in. Can't wait for my next visit to NJ!

Consistently good food. Pizza is good. Pasta is good. Cute small little Italian restaurant in pine brook. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. We enjoy coming here and catering from here!

Hidden Gem Alert! At first glance it's a pizza joint in an unpretentious small strip; don't let that fool you. They have a beautiful intimate dining room serving delicious Italian classics. Date-worthy ambiance: a stacked-stone wall, wood accents, plenty of twinkle lights. The food was perfect for our group of 5--we shared a crispy pizza topped with vodka chicken, a large Cesar salad, chicken parm, and grilled chicken with broccoli. Delicious and satisfying. Service was quick and efficient. We will be back!

I sat at the bar because the wait for a table was long, and the service was excellent. Each of the bartenders was friendly and attentive. Although I sat at the bar, I had a peach iced tea and one of their seasonal mocktails. Both tasted fantastic, and I didn't even miss the alcohol. For dinner, I had the Bader Sting pizza, which featured soppressata, mozzarella, tomato sauce, and hot honey. It was fantastic. My mate had the grandma pizza (mozzarella, pecorino romano, pesto, garlic, tomato sauce, oregano), and it was equally delicious. Since we were served bread before the meal, we could've shared one pizza since it had 6 slices, but I was glad I had leftovers. We couldn't get a table as walk-ins, but the bar high-tops were totally fine. The staff was attentive, and for a busy Sunday we were able to place our order pretty quickly. We tried the eggplant pizza, citrus olives, and the beet salad. The pizza was super fresh and came straight out of the wood oven, but honestly the standout parts of the meal were the house-made marinated citrus olives and the warm bread they slice and serve as soon as you sit down. Those olives are a must-order. The rest of the meal was solid, though the beet salad was just okay--it could have used more volume and toppings to make it feel more balanced. Service was friendly, but they did linger a bit and stopped by our table more than I would've preferred, I'm talking the server, busser, and food runner? and some other random employees? Love how willing they are to make sure you're having a good dining experience but it was quite disruptive to the actual meal.

I'm honestly shocked this place isn't packed wall-to-wall every night -- this is the kind of pizza you expect to find in Naples . From the second you walk in, you know they take their craft seriously. Stacks of real wood, the authentic Pavesi Italian oven, and trays of perfectly risen dough balls -- it's the real deal. No shortcuts, no gimmicks. Just craftsmanship. I ordered two pies: White Pie with Mushrooms & Olives Incredible. The crust has that perfect leopard-spotted char, blistered just right, crispy on the outside but still soft and airy inside. The ricotta and mozzarella are super fresh, the mushrooms taste like they were sliced minutes before hitting the oven, and the olives add the perfect salty punch. Every bite tasted like it was straight out of a wood-fired pizza boutique. Classic Margherita One word: unreal. The sauce is bright and fresh, the cheese melts into little pools of heaven, and the basil actually survives the oven without turning bitter. Balanced, clean, and addictive. The crust is truly the star -- you can tell they use high-quality "00" flour and slow fermentation. Light, airy, not heavy at all. The kind of crust you want to eat all of, even the charred ends. The owner Mike clearly cares about every detail -- from the dough to the toppings to the oven temperature. This isn't "pizza shop pizza," this is artisanal, handcrafted, authentic wood-fired pizza done right. Prices are super fair for this quality. Cash-only but totally worth it. If you love real Neapolitan wood-fired pizza, put this place on your list immediately. Easily one of the best pies I've had in NJ -- maybe the best. I'll definitely be back .
