Love having a nice restaurant in Emory Village. Double zero is a tapas style restaurant which means the dishes are small but expensive. The dishes are pretty good but you would need a couple for a full meal (approximately 2 per person but depends on the item). I wish they had a couple of regular entrée type dishes on the menu. Ambience is nice. It is trendy but elegant. There is a small parking lot available in the back but it is valet most evenings. They are only open for dinner. Hope they open up for lunch as well. I'm an Iberian Pig regular and was told that I should try out Double Zero. I got a secret envelope from The Pig one night to open only at the table when we went to Double Zero. When my friend came visiting from Cali, I figured why not bring her to both places. (See my many Iberian Pig reviews for deets). Our server was excellent. Everyone that came to the table was so friendly and made us feel welcome. We had a few cocktails and some sparkling wine. My envelope contained a coupon for a free pizza! We got the special which had pancetta, peaches, and radicchio. It was incredible!! We had the orecchiette (spicy sausage, broccolini, Grana Padano foam, tomato, Marcona almond). Delish! Arancini (smoked brisket, cheddar, mushroom, honey truffle aioli). Delish! Calamari (chili, sorghum, saffron aioli). Delish! This was our second time going to Double Zero. Our server was excellent. We had the Misticanza salad which was delicious. My husband said he would come back and have it as an entree next time. We also had the margarita pizza which was, unfortunately, underwhelming. The crust was good, but the red sauce was not very flavorful. We will stick with a pasta dish next time. read more

We've been here a few times. The service is always excellent. The food is pretty good but in the 3-4 star range... It's almost as if the menu items description sounds amazing, but the taste doesn't live up to expectations. On our last visit, we had the arancini, spaghetti, and a margherita pizza. The arancini is a little too cheesy for my taste, but if it's your thing, you'd like this. The spaghetti was slightly undercooked. I appreciate the effort at al dente, however. The pastas are amazing, is juicy and tasty but what makes this place the best is their pizzas! They use wood fired ovens to cooked them and the flavor is completely different but delicious. Went last night with entire family of 5. It was not too crowded. The service, music and design were all great. We shared garlic knot, Arancini, cauliflower, carrots and meatballs for apps. All were delicious I especially enjoyed the carrots cauliflower and arancini (very cheesy!). For entrees it's an ideal menu for a wide range of tastes as it has pizza, pastas and mains, as well as a kids menu. One son had the short rib and loved it. I had the bolognese and it was delicious. 2 had pizzas and they were also great - Neapolitan style. Only not great dish were the Beluga Lentils had by wife. Too dry. Overall great experience and I'd recommend if you want to have a family dinner on the nicer side while remaining casual. Good wind list too. read more

Great on many, many fronts, and you should go. I must admit I was a bit disappointed to see Ink and Elm fail, although we only went for brunch twice, both times on a Scoutmob deal or something like that. Back to the focus on Double Zero. We were able to get a reservation on a Saturday about thirty minutes before our 6:45 dinner time. There was a good amount of patrons dining that night, although it wasn't overcrowded, which was just fine. Service was all around great. Our server, Kelley, was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about all of the food and drinks. He went over a lot of what was on the menu, spending a solid five minutes with us up front, and gave his recommendations and made suggestions which I found to be on point. Everyone working there was very professional and truly seemed to enjoy their jobs. I saw other servers on a regular basis at their tables, and we were attended to as needed, never having to wait for anything. Its good to see how much this place cares about their customers. Our water glasses were continually topped off, we were offered refills of beverages, and Kelley made sure we were happy with our food choices. The drinks were great. My husband ordered one each of the mocktails, his preference being the Orange is the New Black. I'm not typically a big bourbon fan, but I took a risk and ordered The Architect, which was really smooth and went down easy. Instead of opting for another (which I really wanted), I followed with a beer recommendation, a Grolsch maybe, easy drinking, light and crisp. There are twelve cocktails to choose from in all, so something will surely quench your thirst in that department. The menu is extensive, so many great options. We went for the oxtail, the broccoli, the duck toast, scallops, and the carbonara. All five dishes were nothing short of amazing. The presentation was awesome (see photos), food as aesthetically pleasing as it was delicious. Food temperature was just right, and all the dishes perfectly cooked and seasoned. The best thing about ordering these small plates is the chance to experience new and unique flavor combinations. Sometimes its hard to put into words what makes a dish true perfection, but I honestly have to say that the chef here is getting it right. I really wanted to order more, but for the two of us, those five plates plus the cocktails proved to be enough. The desserts all sounded great, but we opted for a bunch of cookies at Ali's a couple doors down. We did get lucky with street parking on a Saturday, right in front of the restaurant, but I called ahead to find out they do have valet in the lot behind the building. As diners who only get out about once a week on average, and rarely go back to the same place more than once, this was a true stand out compared to other places we've been to recently. I dined hear on a Saturday evening with friends. No reservations, we just took a chance. The dining room is large and open. Industrial decor. The restaurant was almost totally empty when we arrived and remained that way. Service and food were excellent. We ordered both wine and their specialty cocktails. For food we ordered a kale salad, lobster risotto and two different types of pizza. All of the food was delicious! The lobster risotto was amazing! The quality and prices are aligned. The valet parking is unnecessary and I hope that they switch to self parking. We look forward to dining here again. read more

Both were superb. What stole the show though was the garlic knot. They were amazing! They were slightly crunchy, chewy, and the garlic butter was divine. Visiting Atlanta with family and decided to eat at Double Zero's. A party of 10. The atmosphere was nice, restuarant was not extremely busy, host was pleasant. Menu was limited. Prices are pricey for the portion served. When ordering requested No onions in one dish, served with onions, no offer from server to correct or replace. Had to request refills on drinks each time. The entry was not appealing, plants were dying, paint was half done on front counter. The meals overall had a flavor to them but for the price, service and portions not a place I would suggest to take a party. read more

I went to Double Zero with my family and we all enjoyed our experience (especially my mom and me). It's an awesome restaurant to come to if you are a vegetarian because quite a few of their items aren't meat items. Here's a list of the items we ordered: GRILLED KALE (arugula, radish, fennel, ricotta salata, roasted garlic vinaigrette, gremolata): This is a nice small plate of greens. Good addition if you are ordering lots of small plates. ARANCINI (smoked brisket, cheddar, mushroom, honey truffle aioli): This was my favorite small plate. I loved the honey truffle aioli and the brisket was delicious. BURRATA (scallion pesto, plum, fava beans, sourdough): Good burrata. The scallion pesto was a nice touch. Comes with sourdough bread. BROCCOLI (broccoli purée, tomato, ricotta, sweet peppers, puffed rice): This dish was extremely bland. The broccoli purée was interesting, but I didn't think the dish was anything special. POLENTA (mushroom sugo, spinach, farm egg, ricotta salata, gremolata): My mom loved the polenta. I thought it was alright. MEATBALLS (pork, sundried tomatoes, ricotta, roasted tomato fondue): Meatballs were decent. FUNGHI PIZZA (mushroom cream, shiitake, shimeji, fior di latte, endive): If you LOVE mushrooms you will love this pizza. For me and my family, it was okay. M.P.A PIZZA (San Marzano tomato, basil, fior di latte, prosciutto, arugula): The M.P.A pizza was awesome and is my favorite pizza here. My mom and I loved the crust of the pizzas. It was soft and not too chewy. We thought it was perfect and we had to order two pizzas because of it. I'd say because of that crust, Double Zero now has one of my favorite pizzas. This place has a very nice ambience, quaint and quiet. You have an upscale feel, but the prices are very reasonable. Complimentary valet parking is also available. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The appetizer Arancini was delicious and unique. You could taste the brisket and a hint of cheese. I would call them "brisket puppies". The pizza also had a wonderful taste, and was made with quality ingredients. I also tried the Verdure dish, which was filled with roasred vegetables. They toss in olive oil and cook it in a skillet in the brick oven. It tasted fresh and came with a variety of sauces. But OMG the dessert was the best part!! It had a shortbread cookie on top and was filled with a slight caramel pudding taste. They have an extensive wine menu, and you can find reasonable bottle prices. The only reason it lacks 5 stars is because the entire bar was closed for a private party forcing you to dine at a table. But our waitress Mia with the short crop haircut was the best!! read more

Have seen the outstanding reviews and was sure I would love this place. Went on a Friday night. The service was outstanding and the restaurant was spotless. My Caesar salad was good and it was a nice portion. Shockingly the pizza was disappointing. Our margarita pizza seemed undercooked with a doughy middle section and soupy sauce. I wanted to love this place! Several years ago I went to their location in sandy springs and had an awesome dinner. When my friend suggested going to Double Zero in Decatur for dinner, I was thrilled to be visiting them again. I wasn't in the mode for pizza, but pasta was definitely on my mind. I had some drink that was a special for the evening that was FANTASTIC! We were off to a good start. Then the chicken meatballs came and they were delicious so I was really excited about the trajectory of this meal. Then the main arrived...here is where the meal took a nose dive! The pasta was grainy and off-putting. The flavor was unpleasant and I found myself pushing it around on my plate vs actually eating it. 1/2 way through, I mentioned that I wasn't enjoying my pasta and my friend said "I'm glad it's not just me!" Needless to say, we both didn't finish our main course. Luckily double zero redeemed themselves a bit with the tiramisu dessert! That tiramisu was the best I've had outside of Italy . I might take another gander at Double Zero, but it won't be any time soon. read more

I ate here for the first time yesterday and this place was amazing. Our waitress (Mya) was incredibly knowledgeable about all the dishes served and the drinks. Everything that she recommended for us to try was amazing. My friend and I had the chicken meatballs and cauliflower for small plates and I had the Halibut dish and it was sooo good. For dessert we had the Butterscotch dessert which was a perfect ending to our meal. Everyone was so friendly and even the general manager checked up on us which was really appreciated. Very nice place. Food is very niche which is fine but just be aware. Also kinda pricey but on their special days (Tuesday pizza day, Thursday calzone day) it is very cheap. Very nice wait staff. I got the calzone the first time we went, it was pretty good, I wouldn't say anything special. I got the salad the second time we went, the lemon vinaigrette was to die for but the salad itself was like a 3.75/5 (had to get specific on the ratings haha). I can not say enough about my experience here. It was after graduation, so I thought it would be busy and our service would be lacking, but it was amazing! Our order was taken quickly, and everything brought out quickly, as well. It all tasted amazing, and everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I love this place for casual Italian. They're absolutely on point with Covid safety, they provide hand sanitizer at the table, staff wear masks and distancing is observed. The service is great...they're friendly, suggestive and treat you better than they need to treat you... the food is fantastic (I recommend arranchini, cauliflower is bomb! the dz meatball with polenta, pizza or chicken parm) Parking is easy, there's a big lot just two or three doors up that is open to that strip. My husband and I were looking for a nice date night spot near our Decatur home, and this was one of the first spots to catch our eye. A wonderful Italian menu, great drinks list, and a contemporary vibe--wonderful spot. The food here is outstanding. Each dish was extremely well balanced, seasoned perfectly, and cooked to perfection. We've tried their pastas, pizzas, and man of their small plates. One night we tried a whole roasted fish dish that the chef had prepared with a garlic, herb salsa verde. It was truly one of the tastiest fish dishes I have ever had. I can not recommend their food enough. We've also participated in their pizza making class, which is very fun! They tell all about their dough-making process, then each person gets to stretch their own dough and select toppings for their pizza before it's fired in their ovens. A very fun date night activity! On top of all of this, their service is fantastic. We've had only the kindest and most attentive wait staff, and their recommendations are always wonderful. Love this place. This is one of the top restaurants in the CHG restaurant group. My fiancé and i have been many a time and have always had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and help guide you through the menu. We personally enjoy to get a few small plates and then share a pizza or pasta. The many does have changes seasonal which is fantastic. Right now the grilled kale salad is amazing (I know weird thing to say about kale, but the flavors are spot on). The chicken meatballs are super rich and have amazing flavor and you cannot go wrong with any pizza. I personally am a big fan of the OG. We will definitely be back many more times to come. Disappointed. Starting off, the restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. I've never been to the old location, but the atmosphere is very nice at the new spot. We ordered the Pear and Farro Salad and Risotto to start, Lamb Cannelloni, Lobster ravioli and salmon for mains and the pumpkin ginger cake for dessert. For drinks, we tried the bitter truth cocktail and a couple glasses of wine. The cocktail was boozy to say the least, it was several alcohols mixed cold, and poured into a small glass and garnished with a whole slice of red pepper. Hard to drink, and not at all elegant in the presentation. The server was nice, and tried to be accommodating but honestly didn't seem like she knew much about wine. Stark contrast with the Italian-inspired restaurant in Decatur who seems to always have a sommelier on staff? The pear and farro salad was not worth ordering. It was a base of seasoned farro which was actually tasty, then like 3 paper thin slices of pear, then big chunks of sliced endive on top which seemed like an afterthought. It was served with salad tongs with teeth so wide it couldn't pick up the farro, so we ended up eating raw bitter endive with bits of farro stuck to it. Risotto was tasty, except it was barely risotto. There's so much stuff in it, that there actually wasn't that much rice. The creamy texture of risotto is what's so nice about it! As much as they try to tell you the mains and pasta are meant for sharing, it's not. They're small portions, and not served in anyway that makes them easy to share. They're far from 'family style' which is how it was described to us. What it feels like is tapping off of the 'small plates' trend and selling less food for higher prices. The lamb cannelloni and lobster ravioli were good, but not worth the high price tag. I will say the salmon was a very large portion and cooked to perfection, though the spaghetti squash/veggie mixture just didn't seem to go well with the salmon at all. The star of the show was the pumpkin ginger cake. It was exactly what you'd expect from the name, just enough spice, not too sweet, very moist, super flavorful. One of the best desserts I've had in a restaurant in a long time. All in all, this was a disappointment. Some things were winners, others were fails, but for the reputation and caliber that this restaurant is supposed to be, didn't experience it for this dinner. I wish i could remember what the green sauce was but it was amazing. Their pizzas are the perfect size for one or you can get 2 and share which is what we did. I loved that they had chicken meatballs and I don't even believe I saw any pork on the menu. Maybe Italian sausage in one of the pastas. The mushrooms on the pizza was really fresh, almost like they were freshly picked and organic. My friend got the pasta and I want to believe that the pasta was handmade (if that's the term). I am temporarily staying in the area and wanted to experience the great food that Atlanta has to offer. I did some research to find out what restaurant had the best pasta. Well, Double Zero frequently came up so I decided to take a look at the menu. At first I was nervous because of the hefty price. I ordered the Bolognese to-go. So I finally arrive to pick up my food and the restaurant instantly shocked me. The vibe was on point. It was so beautiful. I immediately texted my boyfriend to tell him he needs to bring me here for a date lol. The staff was so friendly and nice. I went to the bar to pick up my order and was a bit disappointed by the portion of my food. When I got home and took that first bite. OMG BEST PASTA I'VE EVER HAD. I could tell the noodles were made from scratch and the meat sauce was so good! It ended up being the perfect portion size because I was stuffed. I forced myself to finish every bite because I could not stop eating it. I can not wait to come back and try dining in. If take-out was so good, then dining in must be phenomenal. read more

It was close to a 5, but only one fail. The good. Seated super fast with no reservation on a Friday at 8pm. Great friendly service from John, never felt ignored or pressured. Place had a nice open feel. Food Chicken meatballs with risotto was fantastic. The thinly sliced fresh garlic that was fried was super yumm. Risotto was perfect. Just wished there was more, but those items where meant to be tapas in nature. My wife had the tagliatelle and it too was OUTSTANDING. The meat had a slight crunch texture from a panko season mixture that made the dish sing. The meat to noodle ratio was a bit off, in favor of the meat, but no one is complaining. Actually added it to my pizza. I had the Margherita pizza, and this was the only ding. At first I loved the idea of cutting my own pie with scissors, but the novelty quickly wore off. Maybe because I was gussied up for the night and did not want to stain my nice duds and I was starving. In the end I found having to cut the pizza with some cheap scissors to be an small inconvenience. The pizza was a bit over sauced which caused it to be exceedingly limp and soggy, but it made for easy cutting. I will say that it reheated nicely on my cast iron skillet moments ago and with a crisp crust, it was fantastic. Drink Beer selection was small, but I did not expect 32 beers on tap at an Italian joint. The wine and cocktail options where better, for the wife found a tasty red that was spicy and just dry enough. We will be back. read more

Such a wonderful experience. I didn't feel rushed despite the reduced seating capacity due to COVID social distancing. Waitress and staff were very attentive and the meal was perfect. We had the mozzarella al forno which was nice and bubbly with warm Flatbread. The pepperoni pizza was perfectly cooked and the "fried chicken" parmesian was a lovely take on an Italian classic. We loved Double Zero as much the second as first time. Every meal made with really fresh ingredients and I've never had such a fresh tasting tomato sauce on the meatballs. The tiramisu and butterscotch desserts were incredible as well. Erica was an incredible waitress who gave us impeccable service and even remembered we were celebrating a special occasion at our table and brought us champagne to toast this occasion. We have never been disappointed with any of the Castellucci restaurants because they have clearly spent time thinking through very well how to run a great restaurant group, from wonderfully prepared, amazingly delicious food, to a great enviornment and an amazing and knowledgeable wait staff.
