I had a really yummy appetizer made just for "A Taste of Round Rock." It has mashed potatoes and filet minion. I liked it.

After 2 unsuccessful attempts requesting they reach out, you are getting a negative review from our visit on 7/1. I want to express my frustration and deep disappointment in our experience last night. We (wife, 11 yo daughter, and daughter's friend) arrived for our 7:45 reservation with pretty high expectations after a fun day in the waterpark. We got off to a fine start with our server, but I must say it went downhill after that. We ordered our drinks (1 tea, 2 lemonades and a wine). The NA drinks came quickly but my wife had to ask about the wine. We ordered a California roll and some crab cakes as apps - took longer than expected, but not anything I would have complained about in real time. We ordered a medium rare ribeye, an extra rare filet (so rare another employee came out and double checked that we wanted it blue) with bourbon mushrooms, cheeseburger, and the 3 side special. Side note: The server seemed somewhat disinterested, so much that the 2 11-year-old girls thought he didn't like my wife. When the food arrived, I was somewhat underwhelmed by the thin-cut of the ribeye-but it wasn't something that I would have complained about. It looked to be cooked properly. The filet looked good but when my wife cut into it, it was not even close to extra rare (oh and we only had 1 steak knife to cut 2 steaks so I had to ask for another steak and we were short a fork). We were willing to let that slide. Here's where it went downhill badly. My daughter's friend was about to take a bite when she noticed something. She picked out a hair. Not just a random hair but a small clump. It reminded me of a clump you might see when you pull out a pony tail rubbe rband and it was hair that was tangled up in the rubber band that you had to break off. As you might guess, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I went to the hostess stand and asked for a manager. 5 minutes later he showed up. He was pretty meek and reserved, heard us out, and went back to discuss with the chef (At that point, understandably, we had all lost our appetite. I was almost done with my burger but didn't finish that or any of my fries). Seemed like it took quite a long time to come back to discuss what the chef said. What stood out the most is the comment that no one in the kitchen had that color hair, as if they deep down thought it came from our table. Well, that didn't sit well with my wife. So, they remade the steak orders, which took longer than I would have expected, given the situation. During that time my wife ordered wine, which she again had to check the status on. The remake came and somehow the ribeye was even thinner. It reminded me of the size of ribeye you get in a value pack from the grocery store. If it was ¾" thick, I would have been surprised. Seemed to be cooked as requested. The filet was ruined. For some reason the side of bourbon mushrooms was not on the side this time. They dumped the mushrooms and gravy on the steak! Totally changed the whole profile of the steak and basically ruined it. I commented that to the server and he replied 'yeah I saw that but didn't say anything'. My wife asked him why he didn't say anything and he had nothing to say. She asked him if he had something to say and he remained quiet. He finally offered a weak apology. I did kind of feel bad for him as he wasn't the one that prepared the food, but overall his service and customer service was pretty weak. read more

This was my prime rib that I was looking forward to having on Friday. They only serve it on weekends. Good thing. Absolutely NO flavor. It was tough. Terrible cut of meat that was flavor less. Terrible waste of 50 bucks. My daughter got the double pork chops with pork belly. 80 bucks. No flavor. I tasted the pork belly. No flavor. How can pork belly have no flavor? Drinks came out s-l-o-w!!! I was about to cancel my 2nd wine because I no longer wanted it by the time it finally came out. The drinks and appetizers were delicious as was the dessert. But...if the entrees are tasteless and you spend 480 bucks on 3 people what the heck are you getting? Nope. Never again. I will go to Austin and get a good entree at their many good steak houses. This is inside the Kalahari resort in Roundrock Texas. This venue is your typical high end high cost steak house option. Dark wood, dim lighting, linen everything, staff all dressed up and so on. However this was outstanding! My steak was out of this world... the sides were outstanding... and our service was impeccable! I had the 9oz filet, with sides of asparagus, cheese potatoes, and corn. All of it was awesome. Made to perfection and flavors abound. The one thing was there was just so much. The fillet was giant, the sides all shareable, and we had had aps before dinner (candied bacon and something else I forget), even their bread and butter was mind blowing! You know what else was mind blowing... the cost of course. A premium steak house inside a resort... you know they are going to get ya. These was also live singing and keyboards... a bit too loud for the space especially if you're trying to have a business dinner but it was ok. Let me start with the good. The service was warm and inviting. Time was taken to ensure my ribeye steak was cooked correctly. The wine was delightful and served at the perfect temp. The side item and starter were really good. I know what you saying.... The food was good so what's the problem. The problem is I was seated in the bar/ live music area and near by was a large party. They should have been seated another place then where they were. I know what you're thinking... why would she make this statement. As I ate my starter I noticed not one, not two but 3 children running laps on and around the sofa and coffee table. Playing and climbing on the fireplace. Oh then doing flips on the coffee table. Little girls, dresses and legs in the air.... Every once in a while the parents would say something to the children. But they would go right back to treating the restaurant as a playground. My next issue was that it was hot. I'm not sure what temp the restaurant is set on but it's way too hot. At some point I was so uncomfortable I asked them to pack my food to go and I left. Double Cut touts itself as an upscale steak house and it is but only in ambiance and food prices. Let's put it this way the Truffle Fries for appetizer was the highlight of the meal. We ordered the 40 oz tomahawk steak which we chose mashed potatoes, lobster mac & cheese and grilled asparagus. Ordered tomahawk steak medium rare which it was but it had no flavor on the tough side and was dry. The lobster Mac and cheese was dry and some of the pasta was hard, the potatoes were dry but the grilled asparagus was good. The decor is nice, has a very nice bar and the live entertainment that night was excellent. Our waiter did a good job. Very disappointing meal. First time having Dinner at Double Cut Steak House!we loved everything we ordered. Hubby and son had filet's. I had the prime rib sandwich, which was huge. Maybe a little too much bread though. I pulled off the bread and mostly ate the meat. The meat, veggies, and cheese were good. My son and Husband loved their filet mignon steaks. Our favorite side was the hash brown. The mushrooms were good and we brought home most of the baked potato and asparagus because we all loved the hash brown so much. Since it was my husband's birthday we got a complimentary dessert. Very spacious steakhouse with separated dining areas. They are apparently known for their bread which was good, but aromatic. The restaurant smelled a bit "off" and I realized it was the bread! The steak was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Both of our steaks were slightly overdone but still tasty. The service was fair. And not for any lack of effort of our server. She calmly walked the room but I watched her actually run once she got into the hallway. As the restaurant got busier, she ran faster. It felt like an understaffing issue. Made a stop at the resort steak house and it was a great choice! Apologies for the horrible pictures, it was dark inside and my camera just wouldn't focus. But the vibe was still nice and romantic, if you are going for a date night. They also had a talented lady singing and playing the piano. The service was great! We were supposed to have another server attend to us, but somebody else helped him and he did amazing. Overall, we did not wait too long for our food. We ordered two steaks as you can see in the not so great pictures and both my kids were able to share the mac & cheese and fries. The steaks were cooked to perfection and they put butter on top that went very well with the steak. No need for any additional type of sauce. The kids mac & cheese was perfect because some places lack the sauce of the cheese and this place hit it on the spot. Something that my husband really liked was all the choices of whiskeys they had and overall just drinks. If you are staying at the resort or nearby, this is definitely a spot to check out. We were escorted to the back of the restaurant, away from the entertainment and were seated at a table surrounded by a sea of families. My rating for the ambiance is zero. * My husband ordered the rib eye, and I ordered the pork chop. Both were seasoned well. A side dish of creamed spinach was ordered that was the consistency of a spinach dip. We ordered 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine. No dessert was ordered. The cost was ~$169.00. Issue #1: A Birthday Letdown On my birthday, we were seated at a table rather than our usual spot at the bar. We ordered a bottle of Champagne to celebrate, along with dinner, but the server simply placed the bottle on the table--no bucket, no effort to maintain its temperature. It was a glaring oversight, especially on a celebratory occasion. To make matters worse, we watched another couple at a nearby table receive proper wine service, complete with a bucket. The inconsistency was frustrating and disappointing. Issue #2: Bar Service Breakdown On another visit, we sat at the bar--our preferred spot--only to be met with indifference. The female bartender seemed unaware of our history as regulars and was notably inattentive. My friend arrived first, and I joined him at a nearly empty bar. The kitchen staff and servers should pay attention before they serve them. This misstep has happened a few times. Dining at Double Cut is not inexpensive, and we've always felt the experience justified the cost--until now. These lapses in service have made us feel undervalued and unwelcome. You've lost two regular customers, not because of one bad night, but because of a pattern of neglect that stands in stark contrast to the excellence we once knew. Expected more but turned out to be typical resort food. Nothing special other than high cost. Service was great, food was average. Pork chops over cooked, asparagus over cooked, filet order medium rare and it was still mooing and had to be sent back. Mashed potatoes were lumpy. Overall for $375 expected much more. Well my 40th birthday dinner started off with a server who wrote my name on a kids sticker that said happy birthday with a cartoon elephant. Terrible service and terrible food. The bartender/server asked what we wanted to drink. I ordered a drink and a Pellegrino water. He then asked if we wanted lime or lemon. My husband and I both said "thank you" because we didn't clearly hear the question. He responded with, "I asked you a question--why are you saying thank you?" I apologized and said lemon. He laughed and said, "I'm an asshole." We were completely shocked that he actually said that to us. He then walked away, and 20 minutes passed with no drinks. We called him back over and told him we were ready to order. We repeated our drink order for the second time and placed our food order. He wrote everything down. After 30 more minutes, still no drinks and no food. My husband asked if he had forgotten our drinks. He said no, but then came back a few minutes later and asked what our drinks were--so we repeated our order for the third time. Throughout all of this, he never once checked on us or asked if we needed anything. Another 20 minutes later, we asked about our food. He said he would go check in the back, but he never actually did. After 1 hour and 20 minutes, we decided to leave. We were only served one drink, and our food never arrived. The restaurant was also not very busy, which made the situation even more disappointing. Please treat people better. Oh my gosh it was so good. My friend and I went for dinner and sat at the bar. We were taken care of by Robert and Michael who were fantastic. We had the honey butter board to start, amazing. I had the lobster bisque and the BLT wedge for dinner, so tasty! My friend had the French onion soup and the steakhouse Caesar salad, delicious as well. Ronnie was playing the piano and entertaining everyone but it wasn't overwhelming, the perfect mix of music and restaurant noise. For the price ($$$$) I expected prime cut of beef, but what I was served was below a Select ($) level of steak. It was tough and had very little flavor. One steak that came was put side-by-side to the exact same kind of meat on another plate and I swear to you, it was glued together steak.
