Still a five-star spot for me! Dot's Cafe remains one of those wonderful hole-in-the-wall diners with delicious food and prices that are hard to beat. We spent under $20 for both of us, which is almost unheard of these days. I had to bring my boyfriend here for his first visit, and he loved it. He ordered the chicken sandwich with fries and a pickle on the side, and he said it was delicious. I stole a few of his fries, and they were perfectly crispy. I stuck with my usual BLT, adding onions and pickles, and it was just as good as I remembered. I also ordered a side of potato salad, which tastes homemade and definitely doesn't seem store-bought. We grabbed a piece of cherry pie to go, although I don't have a picture because it disappeared very quickly in the car! Be sure to watch your head when you come in the back door! Brick sized, square biscuits and house made gravy; unquestionably the morning crowd's favorite in this cubbyhole of a restaurant. The thick biscuits were on every table and kept coming as new diners wedged themselves into the restaurant to find a nook or cranny that wasn't occupied. That is what my wife had with a side of crispy bacon. I went with two eggs, bacon (crap I forgot to order mine crispy,) hash browns, and the square cut biscuit and gravy on the side. On the plate: 4 or 5 thick strips of tasty limp, smoky salty bacon, hash browns fair, two eggs (farm fresh) cooked to a perfect sunny side up and the very disappointing biscuit and gravy. Although substantial portions, these square cut cake pan biscuits just don't work for me. Kudos for the scratch made gravy, but it was so flavorless that it could not be revived after several liberal applications of salt and pepper. The coffee was pale and tasteless like the gravy. The portions are generous, especially the biscuit and gravy serving. I believe that is what drives their popularity with the crowd. The dining area is clean. The service is absolutely welcoming, friendly and attentive. Excellent service! There is a large public parking lot to the East; just a few hundred feet from the front door. Even with my criticism Dot's is worth a try for several reasons. It is a memorable experience just to squeeze into the little restaurant. The service is fantastic. The menu is big! It is likely that there is something on it that will tickle your innards. A 4.5-star rating on Google confirms that other diners have found some jewels in the menu. Breakfast here just didn't dazzle me. Other: If you don't have Google maps on your phone there is a sign over the kitchen door that provides directions to the outhouse. You also get a tour of the kitchen with the trip. Watch your head on the back door. It is low. Don't ask me how I know. read more

We happened to be in Claremore recently, and wanted to give Dot's a go. VERY glad we did. As others have mentioned, Dot's is a hole in the wall for sure. Very small and cozy (as in you can almost sample your neighbor's plate, it's that close), it nonetheless is a neat little place to eat. The Wife got the basic pancake breakfast and had way more than she could manage. She was very happy with everything, there was just a lot of food. I had an omelet, hash browns and biscuit/gravy. The omelet was a tad undercooked, but still outstanding. Hashbrowns just like mom used to make and the biscuit was huge, soft and went perfectly with the gravy. I believe they change the name to this place and now I can't remember what the name charge is. We were just passing through on 8/21/23. Coming from California we stopped in for breakfast. Our server was amazing. She was serving & busing all the tables, along with cashing everyone out and doing it with a great attitude and not stressed at all. I wish I got her name! I cannot believe I did not get her name. This is a cute little restaurant with delicious food. I had told our server that I was not sure if I wanted chicken fried steak or chorizo and potatoes. She let me know that she was partial to the Mexican food. A girl after my own heart. I love Mexican food, and so glad that she suggested it. Finally had time & was in town to try this little cafe out. Very nice staff & quite a few items offered in addition to daily specials. I tried a standard cheeseburger & it was very tasty. Definitely recommend the burgers. The fries on the other hand were dripping with oil & limp limp. Could not eat them, attempted one but only tasted grease. We went to Dots for the first time today for a late breakfast. My husband decided to try the chicken fried steak and hominy, I had the one egg breakfast with hash browns and biscuits and gravy and my son had the child's pancake breakfast. First, this place is small. Like, really small. But I think it's important to know it's not claustrophobic small. The booths and tables are all normal size and the stools along the bar have plenty of space between them. It's small town, everyone typically knows each other, small and we really liked it. It may be more difficult to navigate during a morning rush but at 12:30 on a Tuesday, we walked in and sat right down. The bathroom is outside the restaurant. You walk literally through the kitchen to get to it. Couple things about that...the kitchen is clean. Really clean. The staff are friendly and not at all surprised to see people walking through and the bathroom itself is cute and clean. It's decorated, has candles burning and well stocked. It's a unique experience for sure (and their sign warns you it will be!) The server was attentive, and prompt. The food was wonderful. The gravy is real, homemade like grandmas gravy, not a package mixed with water. The biscuits are the huge fluffy yet dense kind you expect from a grandma type diner. My husband said his CFS was the best he's ever had and he's had a bunch. Tender, no gristle, cut with a fork, just enough breading and that homemade pepper gravy. 1. Outside temperature 87 degrees and sunny. Inside the cafe, ceiling fans and various blow fans just blew hot air around (napkins, cracker wrappers also). I wonder what it's like mid-July. 2. Confusion trying to order lunch; (my first visit and server was rushing me.) Tabouli was listed as a side order on the menu. I requested tabouli, server kept arguing that "it is a salad and you already have a side salad." Good grief. I also asked if the chicken fried steak was a pre-breaded frozen patty or if it was hand-breaded real steak. I was told "it's real steak breaded here." 3. Why are restaurants still serving the institutional "Ranch" dressing when it can be made in-house with real ingredients? The salad was the white parts of a bagged iceberg lettuce with one shred of red cabbage and two slivers of carrot. Fake Ranch dressing covered the salad. Couldn't eat it. 4. Took one bite of mashed potatoes--they were cold. They sat on the dinner plate waiting for the steak to be prepared. Took one bite of the "chicken-fried" steak. NOT GOOD. It was not "hand-breaded," but maybe someone dredged a little flour on it. The meat was a very thin patty like a hamburger patty. It was very dark, like it was a piece of leftover hamburger that had been floured and fried in old grease. No kidding. I asked for the check and a to-go cup for my iced tea. The owner/manager was the cashier and my plate was visible to her. When I explained what was unpalatable about my lunch, she denied the meat was old, burned or anything wrong with it. And she said the meat was "hand-breaded." Needless to say, I won't be back. I'm from Tulsa and was In Claremore for the morning. I feel sorry for any first time diners expecting quality food worth paying for. I paid the full charge. Visitors to Claremore should carefully consider whether or not to eat here. read more

From the moment you walk into this establishment you know that you are in a "small town USA diner" . It's very small, not alot of seating, but the people are so warm and kind. Every table has coffee cups on them, plus the essentials. But let me tell you about the food... oh my goodness. Whenever someone says its not how "momma fixed it"... it is!!!! Swear!! We ordered breakfast and the food came to our table and we all just sat for a second and stared at, in adoration!! From the eggs, to the hash browns, the gravy.. everything was home cooked.. but the biscuit... holy smokes. That biscuit was pure American greatness!! Everything about this place was an experience, even the bathroom. Next time you're passing through Claremore Oklahoma, stop in and experience Dots, you won't be disappointed. The wait staff was nice and helpful, but the food was kind of like of you went to your friends grandma's house, and she thinks she can cook, but she actually can't. I've been here before, and I love the small town feel! A great cafe that has been around for several years. I think what I ordered today was just ok. I had the patty melt and the meat was really dry. The fries on the Other hand are fresh cut and were crispy and so delicious dipped in the brown gravy. If the meat hadn't been so dry I would give 5 stars.
