This is quickly becoming my breakfast go-to spot! Trying other places like Jimmy's Eggs & The Big Biscuit but keep coming back to the Apple Barrel. I always seem to time it right, never had to wait for a seat. Even when there is a short line, there's room at the counter. Open kitchen looks clean & efficient. Waitstaff are always friendly & helpful. What really keeps me coming back is the food. Not only have a never had a bad meal, I've never had an average meal. Had dinner last night and honestly, one of the worst chicken fried steaks I've ever had. The Wife game me half her cheeseburger so I didn't go hungry. Odd thing is, if any of the three servers took notice of the largely untouched CFS on my plate, they either knew it would suck and knew not to ask how it was, or they didn't care. Either way, I'm pretty much going to eat here for breakfast from now on. I've had too many hit and miss dinners here. read more

Had late lunch after watching a very no so good movie, they were a little shorthanded and I completely understand how that can happens sometimes, the servers were working hard to keep up . The food will cook only so fast if you want it done correctly. Even tho it was a little slow I completely understood the issue and the food was spot on and worth a short delay. Server Today's server is Megan. She's been ignoring us. And seems more interested in bussing tables than actually being a server. After she finally made her way here. She did an above average job. She should have acknowledged we were here and waiting, come by and introduced herself, and said she'd be back in a few minutes or whatever. Ambiance It's a country themed sit down restaurant. Oh lord. It was good! The Melt Dawn was the best breakfast dish I've had in a long while! Crispy hash brown as the base with a pile of breakfast meats, cheese and eggs to top it all off. Drool worthy and not for the health conscious individual. However if you like a mountain of breakfast Glory, I highly suggest getting the dish. Our server was kind and sherrie was so sweet. I would have given 5 however, even though I requested that there were no onions in my omelet due to allergies the cook ignored the request and there were chunks of onions throughout it. The server took it back , but she should have checked it before bringing it to the table... Except for the onion issue everything was wonderful. read more

Location: 116th & 169 This restaurant started out really well. Recently there's been a much younger staff, some not very well trained wait staff, though I'm not sure it's actually their fault. As of today, we're done here. Today marked the 3rd (maybe 4th?!) time the food came out wrong or undercooked. When your omelet comes out and the egg whites aren't cooked, wobble like gelatin, and the biscuits and gravy could have come out of the fridge; it's not an appealing meal. The kitchen staff can make or break a waiter's day - and this one is not helping. The manager does not engage in conversation with the guests, does not check in with tables, and when things are messed up, he doesn't make any efforts to fix/correct/appease. It's a hard pass from here on out. read more

Several weeks ago I drove my brother to an appointment so we decided to stop here for Brunch. We had biscuits and gravy, eggs and sausage. The food was amazing! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive . The decor was very nice and the cafe was clean and as soon as someone left the workers were right there to clean up! We will definitely be returning! read more

Wonderful lunch. Apple* steak, 7 oz sirloin with grilled onions, mushrooms and bell peppers (omitted the swiss cheese). The steak was seasoned well, no sauce required. Baked potato was HUGE and fluffy. Salad was fresh and pretty. Next time will have to save room for the apple dumpling. First visit will definitely lead to many more. Friendly staff. I have been here twice with my nanny and mom for lunch and they are so sweet the only problem I had the first time was them leaving the tail on the shrimp on the pasta and I asked for no mushrooms and they put it all over it but the second Time was better cause I loved the waffle I had only thing I didn't like was the burnt bacon read more

I did not enjoy my experience or the food at this place at all. It was all very cheap. If you like low quality diner food and service, then this is your place. Atmosphere is sad and worn down. From what I hear other Apple Barrel locations are much better. read more

First time since the Wuhan Apple barrel opened up. Thanks to everyone there for hanging in there and staying with the company until they opened up this is a tough time for everybody. Once again my Breakfast experience was five star all the way across the board. The staff the cooks the waitress is the cashiers they get a 6+ we haven't been in there that much after being shut down for so long we walked in the door and they remember me my name. We had a terrible meal. And to be honest it was because of the waitress. She didn't know what came with the meal and had to come back twice to see what options we wanted. Then she brought part of the meal and said she would be back with the rest. Then forgot it. Other waitresses had to step in and get us the rest of the meal. By that time what we got first was cold. We have had great experiences here in the past but our experience tonight did not meet our expectations. We noticed our last few visits that the menus were dirty and recycled uncleaned between customers and flies are way too many. Tonight the menus were not only dirty but has sticky residue on the menus. We also noticed a fly again very interested in landing on our food. We had to request extra napkins multiple times from our waitress before our request was honored. We ordered two full meals with drinks and a dessert. After ordering a steak the waitress returned and we were told there would be an up charge of $2.99 per steak because of the higher price of meat. Is that rocket science not to indicate such a surcharge on the menu? This restaurant prepares a much better salad than most local restaurants with a greater variety of veggies in the salad which is nice. Our waitress was good at hiding out where she couldn't be seen when we needed extra tea. We had placed our glasses toward the outer edge of the table clearly indicating we would like a refill. It took another waitress to notice that we needed extra service to bring us more tea and allow us to place an order for dessert as our waitress was nowhere to be seen. As we were finishing our waitress appeared and I requested a to go box. She brought me a togo box half the size of what was needed and I had to request a larger box. We were sitting in a booth. There were two more booths empty and all of the tables were empty. Our waitress brought us the bill laid it down on the table and said we could pay up front. We obviously were not ready to go as we were still drinking our tea. A few moments later she came by again, same thing she said to us we could pay upfront, as if trying to hurry us out. There were still two empty booths, all the tables empty, the tables etc in the larger room totally empty and not anything near closing time. Also zero customers waiting to be seated. The second time of the waitress coming by and just coming short of saying formally, get out, cost her $5 off of the tip we would have typically given her. The teenage waitress with long blonde hair wearing braces needs additional training in customer service if this restaurant is to survive. Given our most recent experience with poor service, flies, nasty menu's, and an up charge after an order is placed we will probably go elsewhere for a very long time before trying this restaurant again. There are too many restaurants in the area to put up with dirty menus, flies, poor service and added surcharges. The bathrooms are clean and sanitize is provided for customers. Staff are not wearing masks and a young male waiter was noticed taking his hands through his hair and not cleaning his hands before approaching a customers table. read more
