This was my husband's and my choice since we were running and errand last Saturday up in Tulsa for dinner. It is our first time having it again in almost 25-30 years. I think if I was not congested from the crud going around it would have it differently with me. But the smell is definitely what I remember from when I was younger. You need to have it somewhere, that if you place an app order, you have to come in to get it. My husband and I went through the drive thru and he was told to come in to pick it up. You need a sign on your menu that says, mobile orders must come in, something along those lines. It's fast food fish. So start with those expectations. That said, it's in my rotation every few weeks because sometimes I want a fish fix that isnt catfish. Prices are pretty reasonable for what you get. Again, this isn't boujie fresh seafood. Mostly deep fried, but with a few grilled options. Most of the time they move pretty quickly, but the last couple visits they've been short staffed so wait times were a little longer than expected. read more

We used to go to Captain D's in Tulsa midtown but they closed it a few years ago and we couldn't find another place in Tulsa that offers good fried fish in good price. Thankfully, we found this branch in Owasso. It's close to the main highway. Due to the pandemic, they only offer drive-through. There's no line after 2pm so we could order right the way and the food were so fresh, in generous portion and fried right. Everything was so tasty and could satisfy our fried fish craving. The fries, hush puppies and slaw are all pretty good as well. In summary, for the food and speedy service, I give a 5 out of 5. The down side was that we couldn't tell if the restaurant was opened. No open sign, the building look very run down. I gave it a 3. However, if you love to eat fresh fried fish on the cheap and don't care about sitting down, I highly recommended this place. read more

Fish comes out piping hot, food is great, service is always good to great. The inside is kept clean. Have gone several times and never had a complaint. Food is not bad, but I'm not exagerating when I say every time I go they forget to give me something, and I have to go back, if I can. Tonight I was in a hurry, as I had to pick up my daughter from a school function. Get home, and I guess my wife is out of luck because they forgot to give me her shrimp, and were closed by the time I got home and found out. I'm a fairly paitent person, but EVERY TIME. Okay look I know I shouldn't have done it. But I got coupons in the mail and thought mmm lobster. First impression, while waiting for my food with a pager, was the music cutting in and out about every 9-15 seconds. Annoying at the start depressing and rage inducing at the same time by the end of the meal. When my pager went off I picked up my meal on a little cafeteria tray and platter. The Mac and cheese was crusty (not in a good way) and tasted of cheese whiz. The green beans and hush puppies were bland. The fish was freshly fried and was okay. Now to the fast food lobster bisque. I placed an order online at this specific location, knowing that it would take atleast 30 minutes before it's ready, so I waited 30 minutes before heading there to pick up my order. When I got there they said they were still working on it. I waited another 30 minutes and still never received my order. I asked one worker about it and that worker seemed just as clueless as the rest of them. I was already late for work so I didn't even bother to wait longer to even try and get a refund. I've given up on Captain D's now. I spent the afternoon with my Grandmother and she wanted to eat here so she could try their new whitefish dinner. I ordered a regular three piece dinner, as I usually do. After placing our orders I walked into the dining area to grab a table. There was only one other couple in there, so finding a booth should have been like....shooting fish in a barrel. Except that there wasn't a single clean table in the whole place! All of them had trash or crumbs on the table and seats. You could tell that they had been wiped at some point in the past because the coverage of crumbs was somewhat thinner when compared to the area close to the wall where the paper towels holder, salt, and pepper were. In other words, when the tables were wiped, it was done with no care or effort to move the table accessories. I grabbed a handful of paper towels and went to the bathroom to dampen them so I could clean a table and seats myself. Our food was as bad as I expected. No, it was actually worse. Years ago, there was no way I could eat a three piece fish dinner without taking some home. However, the fish planks are about half the size they were a few years ago. Now I love fries. I rarely ever not finish my fries when I get them with a meal...but the fries I got from Captain D's this time were awful. Cold, stale, greasy, and I nearly wretched after eating about a half dozen. My Grandmother insisted I try her fish, and after doing so, I felt bad for her. You could tell the fillets had been stored in a tub of water for a long time because the texture was mushy and completely flavorless. Like batter-dipped gel. The hush puppies were pretty good though. I went up front to get a refill. I stood there waiting patiently for five minutes, but everyone was hanging out chatting away in the kitchen. So I gave up and went back to throw away the rest of my awful meal, and we left. Anyway, I'm sorry Captain, but I'm abandoning ship. It's nothing personal. We had a lot of really great years together, and I will cherish that time we spent together, but you've changed, and I just don't feel the same about you anymore. read more

We never actually ate. We walked in the door on a Thursday night in August or July. It was actually hotter inside than it was outside. Smoldering. There was an older couple dining in. I'm thinking some people don't need air conditioning, they really don't. It appeared there was only ONE employee running the counter AND the drive through. Captain D's gets a D! I give them that because the food was cooked. Fish was juicy and tender. But the flavor was off on practically the whole meal. Too salty. I've been here 3 times over the past couple of years. the first time was a horrible experience the food was very bad and the wait time was ridiculous. The next time I went the food was the best I have ever eaten as far as fish is concerned. The wait time was still kinda bad though. Then after a few months I went back for a third time and the food was still just as good but the wait time was still pretty bad. She then pretend to not see me when she came out of the back and went on making/refilling the tea machine. Long story short I had to stand there and wait tell she finished refilling the tea machine.
