I have been going to Dotfoil almost since they started in a tiny shop on a dead end street. Now they are a thriving business in a wonderful space. I think they're so successful because everyone who works there is super competent and customer-friendly. They have solved every computer problem I've ever had, have gone the extra mile, and have been honest and straightforward with me. The one problem they couldn't fix was on a computer so old that it had to be replaced, and they helped me with that too. I feel secure when I have a good car mechanic and computer repair place, as these are the two things I use every single day and have not a clue how they work. I love that I can rely on Dotfoil and trust them. I would also like to say that I tend to judge a business on how much or little turnover they have. Employees seem to stay at Dotfoil for a long time, and this tells me that they are treated well. That also goes a long way with me; I think it makes for a more stable business, as the people working there get to know the customers and their computers. Go Dotfoil! read more

I spilled a little coffee on my Macbook. After a drying out period, I turned it on, it booted up to the desktop and then powered itself off. Oh No! Took it into Dotfoil, they were efficient in questioning me about the problem and told me within 2 days someone would call to discuss the issues with me. Right on time, Ryan called me back, explained the situation very clearly, gave me his recommendation - to replace the keyboard cover. About $250 for the time and materials to fix since it appeared that no damage was done to the system board. Yay! I picked her up 2 days later, after they called to say it was ready. They cleaned it up perfectly and it now runs like new again. There is something to be said for knowledge, customer service and fair pricing. I loved that they did exactly what they said they would do within the time frame they said they would do it in! I will definitely return for service and purchasing of my Mac equipment in the future. We first went to Dotfoil because my husband was having trouble with his fairly new Dell Windows 10 laptop which would not connect to any wifi. Chris at Dotfoil fixed the problem quickly and explained that Windows and Dell don't work very well together - Windows does not run Dell updates. He told us how to handle the problem and wrote it on our receipt - run Dell Update once a month. We were completely satisfied. A month later my husband was having a different problem with his ATT email accounts. He could not log into one of them on any Windows computer but could log on using his phone or iPad. We rented a half hour of Chris' time. He listened carefully, was respectful and not condescending. He patiently discussed the various options and explained what had happened to the ATT email - ATT is not an email company and was focusing on TV. He suggested switching to Yahoo which looks exactly like ATT and which IS an email company. It was the right solution for my husband and I would recommend Dotfoil. read more

In the middle of a project my mouse fell off the desk and died. Smash! I headed toward the closest place. It turned out to be Dotfoil. I'd bought lots of hardware and software there as well as repair. It's close, it's familiar. I've used them, but not since quarantine, until now. I parked and walked up. Door was locked. He unlocked it, I held out a crashed mouse. He said, "that's an older model than I keep in stock these days." It turns out to be from 2013 which is ancient history for a mouse I guess. Having had my Microsoft acct. attacked from Russia (w/o success) I hastily changed my passwords for all electronic stuff....in so doing, I hammered the one for my iPad, tried to reset it several times, kept digging the hole deeper......emailed Dotfoil for help and also went to the store.....both Tim and Tony quickly responded and advised further action (without charge)....more hole digging at home and finally had to go back to the shop with the machine.....Tim worked diligently and carefully overcoming many frustrations pertinent to my ineptitude and old passwords etc. I found them to be courteous, knowledgeable and most helpful while the price was right in line with the time to fix the problems. read more

On January 5, 2021, I went to Dot Foil Computer Services in Santa Fe, NM, because I needed a new battery for my IPhone 6s. Because of the Pandemic, things were slow, because all customers had to do business on the sidewalk. In spite of this, Daniel O. was incredible. It was cold and he was (for quite a while) the only person on duty. He didn't even have time to get his jacket. He was courteous, professional and PATIENT (something we all must learn in light of this virus). I have used Dot Foil in the past (bought my current computer from them several years ago) and have always received great service. I've been taking my computers to Dotfoil for years and always been happy with them but today blew me away. I got a new iMac and wanted to save money on RAM so planned on Dotfoil doing the upgrade instead of ordering RAM that Apple installed. When the computer arrived today I took it directly over to Dotfoil to do the work and I expected it to be finished in a day or so. Cut to 45 minutes later I'm leaving the grocery store and get a call from Dotfoil saying "your computer is all ready!" COULD. NOT. BELIEVE IT. Amazing service - was so thrilled! These guys are awesome! One day my MacBook Pro Retina unexpectedly wouldn't turn on, so i took it to Dotfoil. The technician, Gabe, was knowledgable and friendly and quickly diagnosed the issue. It was a failed logic board. I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently they were able to repair the computer, working with Apple to get the correct part, install it and get the computer back to me. Because i had Applecare, the repair didn't cost me anything! They have also answered some questions I had about using Google Apps and Google calendars. After banging my head against an unintentional Windows 10 upgrade that disabled my graphics driver, I emailed Dotfoil and received a response almost immediately. After some additional attempts at troubleshooting the problem myself based on recommendations provided by Dotfoil, I brought my laptop in to the store for help solving my driver problem and Dotfoil turned it around in 24 hours. Over two weeks in March, I went to DotFoil to transfer my apps and files from an old Mac Pro tower and an old MacBook Pro laptop to new ones, plus a few miscellaneous chores along the way. I worked with technician Tyson Cole and can say he went the extra mile for me, bending over backwards to get my jobs done. The other techs I met in the DotFoil shop seemed equally knowledgeable and helpful. I have used this business several times and find their attention to detail most rewarding. My next repair involved a laptop. Dotfoil advised me the repair would cost more than the machine would cost. However, the technician suggested that I look at the warranty and see if I can get repaired by the manufacture. Sure enough the computer was under warranty and repaired by the manufacturer. Earlier this summer, Tom Wolfe set up my new I-pad for me. He was very thorough and patient. He had me do things after he showed me to make sure I understood. No problems until 2 days ago. Brought in my Apple MacBook Pro work computer after a hard drive malfunction and after the Apple Store in ABQ turned me away without a diagnosis. They ran a quick diagnostic and told me in would take 2-3 days for a technician to even look at the machine. Just several hours later, someone had called me telling me exactly what was wrong and the necessary steps they would take to fix it AND save all of the data. These guys always do an amazing job on our macs. They installed a second drive on our main iMac which gave us a ton of more storage. I didn't even know that our imac could take another drive until Michael said it could and recommended putting a ssd instead of a hard drive. It now runs way faster with more storage.
