0) Yelp has the wrong address for this business. Should be: 1807 2nd St Suite 100, Santa Fe, NM 87505. I suppose they'll change it eventually. 1) I recommend, and commend, them. Took in my 2019 iMac for a free diagnosis. I'm a techie and had an idea what was wrong, but they checked other possibilities, backed up the account on the machine to avoid accidental loss, and spent literally hours pursuing the problem, which turned out to be a hardware failure. 2) They gave me a quote for the repair, but it was too high for my budget. In fact this was going to be a spare Mac, since I just got the new Mac Studio, so I don't really need it and wasn't ready to spend that much. I could understand why the price was high: iMacs from that year aren't made to be repaired. I dislike Apple's closed architecture (literally closed in this case), but that's the way they are. 3) I declined the repair and took the iMac home. No charge, no hard feelings. Ooof. I am really sorry to write this review but it has to be said; all of the Best in Santa Fe awards the company has won make this very misleading. I went in to have a replacement battery ordered for my laptop. They said it would take 5 business days to a week to inspect the problem. I work remotely and need my computer. Obviously that wouldn't work. It's not like Santa Fe is a crazy busy town. I'm sure they could fit it in over the holiday weekend. Anyway, I somehow convince them to do it overnight (same day would've been better since I brought it first thing). I pay a $92 deposit. They tell me they'll call back in a week. I check in since no one has called. And the customer service is the worst, that is, if you can ever get them to answer. Anyway the front desk boy (I don't know what else to call him) was one of the least helpful employees ever. He didn't know any information about it, when the men working on it would be back, how long it would take, and had a lazy, not helpful or friendly attitude. Finally, we discover that they forgot to order the part. So I've been waiting a week, no battery and down $92 for NO REASON! So, they order the battery... or so I think. I call back in 2 weeks. No battery. I call back in 3 weeks (please note that they never call me to check in). No battery. Finally, at some point in the third week it comes in, but guess what? They ordered the wrong battery!!! Their (terrible) solutions: A. They can reorder the correct battery (and they seem very unsure of what it actually is). Then I will have to wait another month with a half functioning computer while they take their sweet time putzing around, ordering incorrect items. B. They send me a link to order the battery and install it myself off of Amazon for $400! The link is a foreign company with instructions I can't read and it has 3 reviews that are averaging 2 stars. No thank you. Also, I don't know how to glue or tape the bottom back after I install it. On top of this, they are not 100% sure the battery will work and "can't take any blame for it going wrong". These are all the worst options so I make my own option C. I go pick up my computer, ask for a refund, and high tail it over to Dotfoil. Then the owner asked me in an email for a review and I didn't reply because I had nothing nice to say, but this was on my Yelp page and I just remembered it today. I feel I should give you some sort of real experience review so you aren't mislead by the "Best in Santa Fe" title like I was! They are expensive, slow, not customer service oriented, and not even technically skilled. I know friends and family who have had similar experiences here. read more

Friday evening I unintentionally deleted the operating system from a hand-me-down Mac book, which I desperately needed for a project that had to be done by Monday. To my surprise Capitol Computer is opened and working 7 days a week. Dropped my computer off Saturday afternoon and picked it up that same evening! All fixed! They are the best! read more

These guys are the best I've ever seen! Matt Williams and Bryan went way beyond the call of duty on this job! I brought in an old iMac with failed graphics and asked that the precious info in the iMac as well as some old operating systems be transferred to unique partitions in a new iMac from Apple. Matt pointed out that you can't do that - Apple prevents you from installing an OS older than the machine's sell date. I didn't know that! OK, I sent it back to Apple. Then Matt, a certified Apple Tech, showed me the solution: an old Mac Tower from OWC that would accept anything from 10.6.8 to 10.14. More than that: he installed all those old things which are so valuable to my work, and verified that they operated in the new environment. He even checked that email still worked, after which AOL forced me to change my password, with too many sign-ins, from their point of view. So I went to Capitol Computer after having two laptops crap out on me (One of them being a new Display Model I bought through Ebay after a month of ownership). These two laptops, one blue one black, were both defunct. The black one, particularly, was fixed a month before going to Capitol Computers by Santa Fe Computers. It was absolutely ridiculous and terrible for me to see this happen considering how recently it was in the shop to be fixed and the important files stored in this computer. I decided to not return to Santa Fe Computers and cause a ruckus and demand it be fixed and if not for free for a reasonable price considering the Time Congruence of it being sent there? And it shitting out on me. So, Capitol Computers (Filled with wonderfully apt competent, modest, eager, apt, sound, adept and reasonable people) told me that they'd give it a look. I left it with them. They had told me that the black computer had A HDD with files that were irrecoverable. Only to tell me that the best bet (As I had imagined) was to buy another computer for a reasonable $500 range price. Luckily, being the competent consumer that I am, when I had originally went with buying the display blue model laptop I knew that even if it were to be a lemon? Fixing and upgrading it would be cheap in relation to buying a new or better model (Still with the 106 I payed for the repairs and 160 for the Display case model. The sum total for all of this? Was still cheaper than a new $300 HP Stream. Research the Products you Want to Buy before Making a $100+ investment online and weight the costs and risks associated to that after the fact! I sure did and do and rarely if ever I regret it. About 80% of my purchases I make online I never regret and the other 20% I regret only after finding them for cheaper). I can't tell how you compromising adept and punctual these people were. They also recommended me to another business in town called "Synergy" to get my IPhone fixed (Drastically cheaper than Gazelle.com or sending it in to Mac and especially timely. They fixed it within a matter of hours). These people also got the Best of Santa Fe (In 2016) and they got a total of 2 reviews (mine included). I'm surprised they don't have any more Yelp Reviews considering the general self-righteous proclamations of many Liberals being "Pro-Local" but without any tendency to promote the value of their local business, but anywho, they obviously run a competent structured apt business that goes unappreciated by fellow Santa Fe techie consumers (If repairs is an issue). I'd highly recommend these guys to anyone and hope to go to them again in the future. (Note that they even wanted to give me a deal for both of the computers. I unfortunately, at the time didn't reserve enough patience to do price checks on quotes in the surrounding Computer Community but I trust that their prices were not only competitive but that their reasoning was sound and correct). Check it out if you have Computer Problems. Great Service, Reasonable Price (From what I understand considering a simple clean up for my HP set me back a 100+ while an Operating System replacement on HP stream cost me around the same price for a clean up through Santa Fe Computers). Love to see honest businesses still around in Santa Fe. Walked in and explained my issue with my laptop. Instead of taking my computer in for 2-4 days for a technician to take a look at it, to then tell me what the problem is, to then order a part that could potentially take 6 weeks, to then charge me anywhere from $179-$249 an hour for the work... a tech came right out, did a quick diagnostics, and kept it real. She let me know what the job would entail and the price, but also that in my case, there could be no guarantees as well as a liability issue. She let me know it would save me more money to continue using as is until the laptop completely goes out than get the type of services it required by them. HONEST HONEST HONEST! Good hard working people! Even though we ended up not having to use them for services, we will highly recommend them to anyone who does! I called Capitol Computer to ask about a certain service whether it might be available and the cost and the person speaking to me was really friendly and comprehending of everything I was saying and her answers were pretty positive and I feel confident that it's a good place to go although I haven't actually had service there yet for computers. read more
