Back in the spring of 2022, I dropped off a bunch of floppy disks and non-music storage CDs to have them uploaded to my laptop in a readable form and, if possible, editable form. A lot of what was on those disks was created with obsolete software like Quark Express, MacDraw, and ClarisWorks. Neither Brian, the owner, nor I knew that this project was going to be quite a challenge. It took more than a year to complete my order, but Brian and his crew finished what they could. Part of the reason for such a long wait, besides helping out all of his other clients, was that he had to track down at least one Macintosh circa the late 1980s/early 1990s. This alone was a major challenge. He bought one Mac, then discovered it was the wrong age. Then he found and bought a compatible one. In the end, Brian found everything he needed, but because of the obsolete software, the files opened up in code. He tried finding the software, but you need the correct versions/updates. Brian finished up what he could for now and put everything onto a thumb drive for pickup. He says he wants to keep working on this, as it's a fun challenge to solve. I am happy with what does open correctly. Brian only charged me what he originally quoted. He said that he and his crew learned a lot from my project. A couple of days into 2023, he admitted that they had procrastinated on the project. I get it. It was overwhelming. I've knocked off one star for this review because Brian didn't call back when he said he would. I had to follow up each time, even if a couple of months had passed. Nothing but good things to say. I took them a hard drive with a problem; they dropped what they were doing to have a look. It turned out to be a relatively simple fix but it still took up their time and they were quick, friendly and professional the whole time. And when they were done, they refused to take any money for the work. Brian saved the hard drive in my old Mac Book, after my ceiling sprung a leak and doused it in water. He put it in new housing, with updated OS, and a better battery than what was there before. Everything is perfect again! Even though I have a newer Mac Book, I rely on the old one for easy-access storage of files, photos, and music. With Brian on the job, I now have a better old Mac than I did before the rain. All of that for just above $200. This is my third time with CT. I would never consider going to anyone else. Amazing integrity. I heard them on a call. The person working there researched a problem for a customer and told the customer that he would be better off taking the computer to Apple because the cost would be about the same but the apple warranty would be better. As far as my issue goes..looks like an easy fix but I have to wait 4-5 hours. I had hoped to get priority because I have no where to go , literally having been traveling for 2 months, but alas I'm sitting on a dirty old sofa typing this review . Ok..after about two hours the issue was determined. He told me that I just need a new external mouse unless I wanted to wait 4 days for a special order part. My computer died and blew a circuit in the house in it's death-throws. They offer a flat rate of 45$ labor for computer repair, plus parts. The fix was simple, a new power-supply. But, they debugged my system, fixed a start-up issue (which I had noticed, but not mentioned) and cleaned all that New-Mexico dust from the interior for that $45 bucks. The new power-supply cost $80...which I did not think unreasonable since my computer was a custom-job, made to handle graphic-design programs. I noticed an immediate change (for the better) in how my computer started-up and preformed, when I got it home. The shop is unimpressive, two-rooms with a bit of fan-art, tucked in an office complex...but they are cheap and really seem to care! read more

My computer was shutting itself off, freezing, or restarting without warning. It took a while to figure out the exact problem -- first, we thought it might be the power supply; then perhaps the video card . . . it turned out it was the motherboard. Like I said, it took a while to get to the bottom of it, but I was only charged $45 for labor for the whole ordeal (Of course I also paid for the new motherboard, but they helped me find a good deal on one that was just right.) They were even willing to transplant the entire thing into a new (old) case I had sitting around. The service / communication was top-notch, always friendly and professional. I learned a little bit in the process, as well! They're sequestered away in a little hole-in-the-wall, but make the small effort to seek them out, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Windows update completely bricked my laptop, and Windows 10 is setup so that you can only create a recovery disk from another Windows 10 computer with exactly the same specs. I didn't know anyone with a laptop just like mine, so found myself at Computer Transformers, following on the heels of all its great reviews on Yelp and Google. Walk-in basis where I dropped off my laptop at the store, explained what was wrong, what data i needed saved from the hard drive, and it was fine to wipe the rest of the machine clean. Owner was polite, knowledgeable, told me exactly what he was going to do to fix the issue and save my data, quoted price and repair time. Roughly $50 and ready in a day or two. Got a call the next day saying it was repaired and ready for pickup. On pickup he reiterated what was done to repair it, showed me where my necessary data and files was transferred and saved, and that he had updated my Windows 10 to the very latest update, so I shouldn't experience any problems with whatever Windows 10 update version had broke it in the first place. He made the process quick, easy, explained simply and lived up to his quote. The price was extremely reasonable, which is rare for computer repair these days, especially on my budget.
