The Quesadilla Platter was filling and delicious.
    Melissa R.

On a quiet July 4th weekend, we were in the mood for margaritas and Mexican food, so we decided to visit Dos Gringos. It had been a while since we were there last. One thing I love about Dos Gringos is that they're byob. We brought our own quality tequila, and they had a choice of 4 mixes served in a pitcher which made it easy to add the tequila. We went with the traditional lime with salted rims. We also loved the unlimited chips and salsa and appreciated that there were a few varieties of salsa. Our window seat was comfortable, and we couldn't have asked for better service as our chips were refilled a few times. For dinner, my daughter and I ordered the quesadilla platter. Ours were very similar except I ordered the shrimp quesadillas, and she went with the traditional pork. There were 3 large portions. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas. We all loved the rice and beans that accompanied each dish and left happily full with lunch for the next day. Our server even offered us a container for our leftover margarita mix!

Cute little restaurant with great food, service, and atmosphere. The menu has a lot to choose from but I got the wild Sockeye salmon special and it was perfectly grilled. The guacamole is the best--freshly made with some chunks left in for rustic character. Free chips and choice of homemade salsa for the table keeps the convo going while your meal is being prepared.

Packaged in a brown bag with the restaurant logo on it the takeout nachos were packed superbly. They were delicious and visually appealing unlike the place up the block.

We used Dos Gringos catering this weekend and can't say enough good things about it! We had more than enough food for all our guests and it was absolutely delicious! Greg couldn't have made it easier to place the order and to pick it all up. Everything came at a great price. Will be using Dos Gringos for catering again in the future!

The food was just ok. I would just say it's average (3 stars). I had the enchiladas in their verde sauce, some chips with gaucemole, and hubby had their burrito. The gaucemole was very bland and needed salt, however the chips were delicious. You can tell they were fresh. Enchiladas were standard. Didn't have enough meat in it, but the flavoring was there. The reason for the bump down? I saw a server drop a pair of utensils when setting up tables and picked it back up and placed it on the table. Ewww wth! Will I be back? Probably not. There are plenty of Mexican joints around.

I have been to this restaurant twice. Both times I dined outside, the most recent time for Dining Under the Stars. The service was a little slow in the beginning, but it picked up after we finally got our orders in. The reservation system is a little inconvenient that the maximum party size is 6 even if you call in to make the reservation, so I had to make two reservations since I had over 6 people, but at the end the hostess let us all sit together even though it was a tight table for 7 people. The Mexican street corn was delicious. The Plantanos Maduros were surprisingly refreshing. The plantains were not deep fried. They were perfectly cooked and not too soft. The best party were the margarita mixes. You can all your own tequila into your cup. We ordered the Blood Orange and Pineapple Passionfruit. The kids were able to just drink the mixes as juice. I found a bone in my chicken quesadilla, which tells me the chicken was freshly shredded. It was also very well seasoned. The first two bags of chips we got were broken and in small pieces. The third bag was great. We ordered mild and medium spiciness salsas, but medium was not really spicy at all. The service was friendly and the ambience was great outdoors.

I recently ordered take out during lunch time from Dos Gringos. Dos Gringos in Media is located down a hill in a small space. They have some outside seating which I guess is great in the spring and early fall. The space for dinning inside is very tight. I would not recommend visiting with a large party. I ordered the surf and turf burrito with no turf. So basically I had a shrimp burrito. The burrito was really good. The spice flavors were really well blended. It did not taste to hot or like a ton of cumin. The burrito was huge stuffed with peppers, shrimp, rice, beans and cheese. The burrito came with a small side of chips. These were great to scoop up the remains that fell from the bottom. The price was a little steep. I kind of question an 11 dollar burrito. All in all the young lady at the counter was friendly, my food was ready when I arrived and it was good.

They have chilaquiles on the menu. That's enough to get 5 starts from me. I say that because they are my favorite Mexican item and most places don't offer it. The other awesome thing is they can make them vegetarian which is perfect for me (being a pescatarian). I love the salsas; we had salsa verde and mild. I LOVED their mild, it was so good! We also got the guacamole with crab meat. I had never had crab with guacamole, a whole new world was opened for me. I had water but it's BYOT - bring your own tequila. It looks like a lot of people took advantage of that and I'll remember that for next time.

Daily special adobo chicken taco for $16

Server was very friendly and kind. There was some confusion as I asked if I could have the yucca frites without sauce and shrimp with my meal. The owner did not want to charge me full price or give them to me as a side dish as he only had a few left. We ended up spending $32 plus tip for 6 small tacos. The flavor was good and everything was fresh. We ate outside as non of the staff was wearing masks.

I usually don't even eat Mexican food, I'm just not a huge fan. But I guess I've just never had good Mexican food because I LOVE this place. Whenever I go, I get the fish tacos. They're delicious. And always start with some chips & guac. My boyfriend has never been out for Mexican food so I took him here and he loved it also! It's small, but in a good way. At lunch, you order at the register, but at dinner it's table service. The staff is really friendly. If the only Mexican you've been eating is chipotle, definitely give here a try!

Is this a good place to go with a party of 5 or more?

We accommodate parties up to 8 people any night and we accept reservations as well! A larger party would want to call ahead and discuss specifics as to the day and time. We are small place but it means a more personal experience!

She also complained that the chicken was dry, I did not agree. It may have been pre cooked for quick delivery upon ordering. The food came out super quickly so there must have been a great deal of advanced prep involved. Tucked in the back behind the office building you will find this deceptively small looking building that is actually very spaceous inside. On the shelves you'll find a number of italian specialty items: dried pastas, desserts, chips etc. In the cases you will find prepared foods, salads and sauces. The day we went in there was a refridgerator problem with the glass case and all the food items were stacked on top of each other in a case that worked. We grabbed some cooked stuffed shells and some tomato sauce to reheat for dinner the next evening. The sauce was tasty and fresh but sweeter than I like (tasted like sugar was used which I will never understand as the tomatoes are sufficient.) The shells were spectacular - absolutely delicious. Their website with a full menu is under construction and will be here soon. This is a welcome addition to us folks out here. Closer than Carlinos in West Chester yet more limited compared to the offerings you can get at Carlinos, La Porta Via does offer a solid number of items I intend to try.

However I found it to be unsuitable to dining with a large group due to it being very loud and crowded. I'd recommend the tasting set if you want to be full when you leave without breaking the bank. --- I dined at Amada on Friday night with a party of 8. Typical of a Friday night in Philly, Amada was packed. It was incredibly loud, which meant you couldn't hear anyone past those seated directly next to you. Our server, Alexander, was excellent. Since the whole restaurant was fully seated, service was a little slow (2 hours for our meal-not tasting menu), but his attitude and friendliness were exceptional. The tapas (small bites) are meant to be shared, meaning it will come out at different times if you all order individually. The staff plated nuts separately so that we could still share while being mindful of our party's dietary restriction. We ordered numerous tapas try for the table: (1) chorizo Bilbao, (2) piquillos (crab-stuffed peppers), (3) tortilla española (Spanish omelette), (4) espãrragos blancos (asparagus), (5) pimientos de padrõn (shishito peppers), (6) setas (mushrooms), (7) torreznos (crispy pork belly), and (8) chicken skewers. Overall, everything came out smaller than we expected for the price. (Not too upset since it's a $$$/$$$$ restaurant.) The flavor of every dish was tasty, if not all a bit salty. The standouts for us were the: (2) piquillos, (3) tortilla española, and (8) chicken skewers. I really enjoyed the crab filling of the piquillos, the balance of flavors in the tortilla, and the juiciness of the chicken. In the end, we racked up quite a bill and were still hungry afterwards. Personally, Amada is out my price range, but everything was quite flavorful. For others, I would recommend dining at Amada with smaller parties (6 or less) to accommodate the loud ambiance. Amada is definitely better suited for a romantic date spot or small gathering. For better value, the tasting set may make more sense.
