My go-to spot for Taco Tuesdays! I have the fortunate pleasure of living a few houses down from El Limon Havertown location. With almost 30 locations, El Limon cooks up some authentic and tasty Mexican dishes all over the Philadelphia area at a very reasonable price. Every Tuesday, my wife and I order tacos from El Limon. They have various types of tacos with fresh meat made daily. Our favorites are the Barbacoa and Carnitas tacos. Be careful when ordering, because you do have the option to order them with just the meat, or for an additional .50c, you can add onions, lettuce, cheese, and tomato. Definitely worth it for the extra flavor! They have amazing side options like chips and salsa/guacamole, beans, rice, etc. we really enjoy their nachos as a good starter before we dive into our tacos! They don't just stop at tacos and sides though, their burritos and enchiladas are truly amazing. Packed with flavor and smothered in the sauce of your choice (my favorite is their tomotilla green sauce). For dessert, make sure you order the churros! They are the sweetest way to end such a savory meal! Comes with 4 churros and a vanilla ice cream that melts and turns into an amazing dipping sauce. Although we typically pick up due to our proximity, they have a nice dining area with tables and booths. Great for a weekday night out with the family and friends. Kid friendly environment. Server was not apologetic and ignored us when we informed her about the cold food and the incorrect order. 2). The service is horrible; it is extremely slow and server never corrected our order. Very Disappointing Father's Day Experience with Poor Service and Cold Food We chose this El Limon in Havertown for a Father's Day (early) dinner with our family of six, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. To start, we were seated quickly, which seemed promising, especially since the restaurant was not yet busy at all. However, things went downhill fast. We sat at our table for 15 minutes before a waitress, who frankly looked quite unkempt and disheveled, finally came over. She dropped off only two menus (for six people), didn't ask for our drink orders, and didn't bring any water. Despite having four servers walking around, none of them paid any attention to us. We had to wave someone down just to get water. It continued to go poorly from there. We had to call the waitress back just to place our order. Because everything was taking so long, we didn't even get a chance to order appetizers first--we just went straight to mains to avoid more delay. Even so, our food took forever to arrive. When it finally did, the problems kept piling up. My parents' tacos came out incorrectly, and cold. They had specifically asked for tacos with beans, but the kitchen replaced the beans with rice (which was not even warm) without telling us. We flagged this, and eventually the beans were brought out. But then came the most frustrating part--my husband's fajitas never arrived. We waited, asked about it, and the waitress suddenly reappeared with them--cold. It was clear the dish had been sitting around and was simply forgotten. We sent it back. Shockingly, when the fajita dish was returned, it was still cold--so cold, in fact, that my husband could hold the bottom of the cast iron pan with his bare hands. We sent them back for good. No apology, no offer to replace the dish, no manager involvement--nothing. We had to involve another server just to order something else. That person was polite and tried to help, but gave a half-hearted excuse that the staff was "short-handed and very busy." That's simply not true because when we arrived, the restaurant was clearly not busy, and there were plenty of staff around doing very little. As a result of all this, my husband left without eating a meal, just nibbling on the nachos and salsa we had ordered for the table. My father was so upset by the situation that he didn't finish his own food either. We were trying to enjoy a special family dinner, and instead, we left frustrated, disappointed, and still hungry. To make matters worse, we had to repeatedly ask for basic things like napkins, spoons, water refills, straws and the sauces that should have automatically been served with our meals. It's clear that this location prioritizes take-out orders over customers dining in, which explains the incredibly slow and inattentive service. Between the cold food, poor communication, lack of accountability, and complete disregard for basic hospitality, this was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. We will absolutely not be returning to this location, and I cannot recommend it to anyone seeking decent service or accurate orders. We decided to try this location because it's larger and closer to home, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. In contrast, the El Limon on Montgomery Avenue has consistently provided much better service and food quality. We took a chance on this new spot for Father's Day, hoping for a nice meal, but instead ended up with a frustrating experience that genuinely ruined the day. When I got home there was no steak and the chips were not on the side. Had to take it back and get it remade. Also I ordered Flan. When I got home the flan had no syrup. Past orders had syrup. This is my new go to Mexican restaurant. I've never had anything bad here and they have a wide variety of options on their menu. I suggest enchiladas with tomatillo sauce, delicious! Also just an FYI their quesadillas are tasty but also kind of tiny. Their burritos on the other hand are huge. Would be five stars but I find their dine in situation to leave a bit to be desired (one time it was blazing hot with no air conditioning and one time we were totally forgotten about when it came time for the check), however their food is great so you should try some take out. read more

My son and his kids took me here for a Mother's Day lunch. They still had up decorations for Cinco de Mayo, which were fun. Three of his kids shared an order of chicken nachos, and there was still some left over. I tasted the guacamole from their order and liked it - mild, which I prefer. The rest of us had tacos supreme, as we all like lettuce and tomatoes on our tacos. I had lengua and carne asada, and preferred the latter. I chose corn tortillas, which I have always preferred. They were small, so some of the filling fell out, but they were doubled so didn't fall apart. Service was good, and prices weren't raised for the holiday. read more

It's just okay. The food is more on the drier side. Barely any seasoning. Bland. I only go if I'm invited but I would not go there if I get to choose. Run don't walk to this new addition to the Havertown dining scene. We are so lucky to have this restaurant within walking distance from our home, especially since their tasty powerful Margaritas are free. I saw some one star reviews which were suspect especially when the reviewers were from Las Vegas and the middle of the state. That they found this out of the way place in Havertown with there only negative review smelled fishy. As I mentioned the complementary Margaritas to eat in diners were tasty and powerful. If you don't like Margaritas, bring your own beer or wine. The drinks went great with the freshly made chips, guacamole, and salsa. They were excellent. I have to say the service was friendly but a little slow, only the server and the chef working, I am sure that they will work this out in time. The free Margaritas and sitting outside on a beautiful day made the wait bearable. Our tacos were excellent. One grilled chicken one steak on corn tortillas with lettuce and tomatoes. Everything was fresh and obviously made to order. To finish our meal we tried the Churros which were the best we had in quite some time, they came with some creamy ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. They were crunchy and delicious. It's the perfect chunkiness (I cannot stand guac that is too smooth) and right amount of tomatoes and jalapeños. Their chips are always made fresh, hot, and crispy. Bomb! I always order their carne asada, carnitas, or Al pastor tacos with fixings (sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese). They're not street taco size, pretty hefty and I'm always so full after eating 2-3 of these. Meats are always well-seasoned, authentic flavors! By far the best El Limon location I've ever been to. Though, covid restrictions are still in place and I was unable to physically dine there, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant, as I opted for take-out. Ready in 10 minutes, you can't beat that turn around time! My order included chips and guac, a chorizo taco, and two carnitas tacos. All items were so flavorful and delicious. We love this place! Good food. VERY fast service. Staff is friendly and helpful. We even used them to cater a party recently. Minor complaints (or "hacks" if you want to call them that...) (1) I personally don't love their salsa. I've gone to multiple El Limon sites and it's consistent at all the locations. I'm sure others would like it but it's not my thing. I usually get take out and just buy my own salsa. (2) the Tres Leches cake is GREAT but we order it "without chocolate." They use a chocolate sauce that I assume is "authentic" or whatever but to me it tastes like a chocolate salsa... I'm not a fan. They drizzle it on the top.... The hot and medium salsa have so much taste and a nice kick, some days the hot is too much for me but I can't stop.
