The lobster bisque is excellent. The beet and goat cheese salad also very good. I was there today and had the strip steak off the menu. It was cooked exactly the way i asked and very tasty. Staff very polite and service was quick and efficient. Can't wait to go back. They also serve lunch with more casual items such as personal pizzas and sandwiches. Just had a very mediocre & disappointing meal at Dora. From the brown bread that was served in place of the usual Italian bread served with a garlic pest dip, really, brown bread? No other was available when I asked. We were never told the specials, & only knew when we heard them being told to another patron. We ordered the clams , w red sauce, and the pappardella with bolognese sauce. Both were dull and uninteresting. The pasta was served watery as if not drained enough, and the clams were not baby clams as stated on the menu, but quite large. We did not order dessert or coffee, just wanted to get out of there, the service was beyond slow, waited almost an hour for our entrees, and was not offered pepper or cheese, until we asked for it. I really like the unhurried pace of this restaurant. At Dora they won't take your plate away until *everyone* is finished. The food is not particularly inventive but it is fresh and well prepared. The calimari and shrimp Salad is tasty and the Beef Carpaccio is also very good. My one slight disappointment was when I ordered a rare burger that arrived medium. I accidentally ordered a filet I had not previously eaten called Branzino. It was outstanding! So were all the other meals that our group enjoyed. So much so, that we have been back since. You always need to have a dependable restaurant where you know you will get good quality food, very well prepared, great ambience, a pleasant location in the heart of Clinton, fair pricing and good service. Ordered the veal tonight and it was extremely tough. My wife had chicken francese and also a bad cut. Complained but they did not seem to care. As if this weren't enough, the service was slow and staff very rude. Used to frequent this place years ago under former ownership. Don't be fooled by the outdoor seating and nice indoor ambience. Our first time trying this place & our last! Unwelcoming and unfriendly as soon as the 3 of us walked in the door and it didn't end there! From the long wait for subpar food & water/soda refills, which we never received or asked for because we wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, to messed up orders it became apparent that the men there pretend to be interested in their jobs & serving the customers. We should have left as soon as we received the cold reception but we stayed & ordered entrees only so we could be out fast but they ended up taking too long & were nothing special to us, who are all of true Italian descent. They claimed no manager or owner was present that day for us to complain to, which we didn't believe for a moment. read more

This was a terrible place. I came with my husband, baby, and two cousins. We waited 15 min to be asked what we wanted to eat. Finally when they got our orders it took over 40 minutes for the food to come out of the kitchen. The staff seemed frazzled and preoccupied. Finally my cousin who ordered ravioli received 6 whole ravioli! That's $3/ravioli. It was laughable at that point. My husband ordered chicken cacciatore, in his words he says "the worst parts of a whole chicken and a random buffalo wing were thrown into a skillet and cooked for a minute and a half." He's still feeling sick. While there, two tables got up and left prematurely. When my husband went to the bathroom he saw that the bread was stored close to the floor. All In all - it was so bad that we left the place laughing and sick. read more

My friend and I were just here for a mommy date with our kids and the best meal we got was the chicken fingers. We both ordered salads with grilled chicken and the salad tasted bland and the chicken was rubbery. Not once did the waitress come out to check on us and when I finally asked for the check I also asked for the manager. When he came over and I voiced my concerns all he had to say was "ok." And then proceeded to say he checked on us 2 or 3 times but didn't want to interrupt us and why I did 't flag him down. He had no problem going up to the other tables and speaking to them and I was trying to keep my child entertained that wanted to wander. I do not appreciate managers trying to make it my fault and then grabbing the bill out of my hand to try and "make it right." That doesn't make it right at all and I will never recommend anyone go here nor will I return. read more

I love to have lunch at this Italian restaurant, especially in the summer when I can sit outside on their patio. Their lunches are reasonable and very good. The eggplant parm and shrimp arriabata are excellent and the creme brulee is to die for. Good service and very pleasant people. read more

Past dinners were fabulous from the start, bread was crusty and soft delicious; meals were great, portion sizes generous and descriptions Of the entrees were accurate. Not so much tonight, chicken Milanese over cooked, buffalo mozzarella was small balls cut in half and stingy. Bread was nothing to rave about. We could not have gotten any luckier strolling by Dora's on Main Street. On a snowy Thursday night, Dora's had no problem seating us right away at a cozy table looking out onto the street lit up by holiday lights. The calamari appetizer was delicious! I ordered the Bronzino fish special and it was an excellent choice. The chef made adjustments as needed for food allergies and the food was absolutely amazing. Came with my daughters and grandchildren. We had a wonderful lunch! All the food was great; I don't think I've ever had better tomato sauce, the ravioli was delicious with great pasta. Thought they don't have a children's menu, the kids did fine sharing a single personal pizza - with beautiful thin crust. The waiter was great with the kids, as well (of course, my grandchildren are angels, though - how could anyone resist them?). I consider it quite reasonable as well, getting away for less than $90 for three adults and 4 kids including a bottle of Chardonnay, white tablecloths, stemware, and very pleasant decor. read more

This is a very nice restaurant right in downtown Clinton. The outdoor seating is my personal favorite as it is a little more casual - The inside has a more formal, upscale atmosphere. Food is very good and service is excellent, but prices are a little high, making it better for a 'special occasions' type outing. I had my rehearsal dinner here last summer and it was fabulous! We had half of the inside to ourselves, but it still felt like a private party. The service was superb, and the food was truly fantastic. (The ravioli was to die for!). My rehearsal dinner was just as memorable as our actual wedding was the following day. They had the best possible table formation set up for us and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our dinner. Since then, my husband and I have gone back just for the ravioli!! We now live in the area and keep Dora on our rotation of places to go for date night :-) read more

I love Dora's, from the wait staff to the food to the atmosphere. By the window or outdoors you have a great view of the town. It's BYOB but there is also a Jersey wine list. I love their fried calamari and bufala burrata salad. The ravioli and pasta primavera are my personal favorites. The scallop special is also great when available. The Tahitian creme brûlée is the best I've had. read more

My daughter and I dined el fresco on a lovely summer night. We had appetizers, the salad specials and each of us selected one of the dinner specials. There was a very large party dining out on the patio as well, but neither group seemed to be bothered by the other....plenty of room for all. What happened to this place? It used to be good. The fish was over salted and not presented well at all. It looked like reheated leftovers. The restaurant itself is very pretty and comfortable, but seriously, they need better chefs. After reading the review about Dora we were excited about going but what a dissapointment. I went last night and the food was disgusting. the fried calamari was tough, the bread was stale and hard to chew just like the calamari,the clams with liguini had a brown and sandy sauce with no taste, the chicken parmigan was flatter then a pancake I have never tasted sauce so awful they put more cheese then chicken, the seafood dinner had an awful taste the sauce was terrible it had no flavor, and the service was dissapointng it was vey hard to speak with anyone no one could understand what I saying. We all left the plate full and they didn't even ask what was wrong. Also the chicken fingers were burnt and hard like a rock. We will definately not go back. read more

Very good Italian food! Took some friends from out of town here while they were visiting. We sat outside on the patio and experienced wonderful service and food! They have wines from a local New Jersey winery available so we decided to try the bottle of Chardonnay which was perfect with the seafood and pasta we all ordered. I had some of everything that was on our table from goat cheese gnocchi, to chicken parmesan, and branzino....everything was delicious and will definitely be going back soon to try some of the other dishes. read more

We visited last night for dinner. I had out of town guests and we walked to town. We sat outside on the patio and it was a wonderful atmosphere. The service was a little slow but it was worth the wait when the food came out. All three of us really enjoyed our dinners. Two of us had the chocolate molten cake for desert and it was outstanding.
