The gentleman working this morning was friendly with me. There many parking spots here and be aware that they charge a small fee if you pay with credit card. The man working didn't fill my cup fully with the hot chocolate but I was whatever with it. The inside dining here is not that big but I think most people just get their donuts or coffee and then just leave. The hot chocolate was delicious and the donuts was alright.

Their donut selection is a bit more narrow than my go--to place, but theres still a respectable amount of options to choose from. Most importantly the donuts are always fresh and delicious! It's conveniently located near the highway and usually always has parking available for those commuters trying to get in and out fast. What I appreciate most is they always have a good supply of fresh donuts even closer to noon, so on those lazy days you don't have to worry about all the good stuff being gone super early. My only gripe here is that they never seem to have donut boxes, but instead place them in their pastry bags wrapped inside plastic bags. To most that's probably not a deal breaker, but boxes can be really convenient for storage. Especially since any donuts not immediately eaten will begin to have their icing adhere to the bags and completely strip off the donuts. Pricing is a little more expensive than some of the other donuts in the area, but they more than make up for it with quality and service!

I wanted to sit and enjoy my sugar fest however each table table top was crumb- laden and not clean. The young man in the back was too occupied with his phone to bother. I thought of saying something. On second thought if this business has not trained their employees some BASIC housekeeping rules of "engagement" then it's not my place to do so. Then I thought, people just dash and drive at this place not bothering to sit in their "cafe". So hats off to the run in and drive out customers. Oh yes, there was Asian inspired coffee and tea menu on the side illustrated board AND I could buy lottery tickets here too. So question: Would I go back? Meh, no. We were craving coffee, searched for the closest coffee shop, and happened to stumble across Makenna Coffee. I remember absolutely falling in love with their coffee and thinking, "I cannot wait until we come back this way so I can get this again!" We happened to be in the area for an appointment at the Jeep dealership, and when I realized Makenna Coffee was nearby, there was NO WAY I was leaving without stopping. This was only my second time here, and somehow it was just as good as I remembered. Taylor helped me and she was such a sweetheart! I couldn't remember what I had ordered the first time, so she helped me pick out two different drinks to try -- the Sandy Blonde and the Maui Latte. I ordered them half sweet, and they were still a little sweeter than I normally prefer, but honestly, they were amazing nonetheless. I'm usually a black coffee/Americano kind of girl, but every once in a while I get a serious sweet tooth and want something fun and indulgent -- and Makenna Coffee is PERFECT for that. Since I work long hours during the week and usually am not up for jumping right up on the weekends, that is cool with me! DH will go over and pick out fresh pastries for us for breakfast/brunch. He'll usually select one savory item and one sweet treat. Often, their Japanese-style egg salad tucked inside a pastry is so perfect for me. The actual dough is like a marriage between a bagel and a croissant. It's lighter than a bagel, but it's flavorful and tender like a croissant, but not flaky. The egg salad filling is just right for my tastebuds, and it provides protein in a fancy, delicious fashion. Today there was a hint of savory garlic on the pastry, and that added a nice flavor accent. Today's sweet pastry was an open-faced tart filled with a smooth, light chocolate base, topped with creamy custard, and then sliced pears on top. Mmm. I like the choice of pears offering a hint of the autumn season ahead. The last time we had out of town guests staying with us, we took my them to Le Herisson one morning. They fell in love with the food and the sweet, simple ambiance. The next morning, my sister-in-law got up early and went back over, bringing back a box of pastries for everyone to share. Fortunately some random guy thought I was there to film a commercial for him and he informed me Bree's had closed up shop and left ;( wasted about an hour of my time.
