We tried donut time for the first time about 6 months ago. Since then we've been back about 10 times. I even asked my husband to get donut time for my Mother's Day breakfast! The donuts are soft and pillowy, perfectly sweet- not cloyingly so, and not greasy or dry. Their cake donut that I tried today actually tastes like fried cake (coconut almond). Best donuts in Denver. We enjoyed each one that we ordered. Get a box of at least six, it is so worth it. The apple fritter was big and satisfying. The cinnamon glazed was highly recommended and we are glad we got it, it had perfect amount of sweetness. Not too sweet. The long johns with white cream were so good. I love this place- the owner is a great guy who has the craft of donut down solid. He covers all the classics. (This not the kind of donut shop that makes an artistic expression with basil and lemon, for example). So let's talk about the exceptional offerings: the fritter is no joke world class. He uses house made apple that are sizable chunks. Apple lovers will delight. He makes a cinnamon crumb topping that is wonderful- it has that spice-sweet and a touch of salty that makes for a big flavor. The topic is not excessive so it contributes to the donut experience without overpowering it. All the classic risen donuts were excellent. The pastry was flavorful- the perfect balance of grain and sweetness. The texture of the pastry was also exceptional- it has excellent structure without being chewy. These donuts were so good. I was "Wowed" by this place! A true hidden gem and the line on a Sunday morning is a testament to how awesome they are. First time here and I received the Fruity Pepples donut. So soft you can tell they were made just a few hors ago. What I liked is they also had coffee and a few breakfast sandwich & Burrito offers which made for a complete breakfast variety. Wow! This place has some amazing donuts! My favorite is the glazed donut holes. They are light, pillowy, and fresh. They come in orders of 7 or 14. At first, you think that for just one person 7 donut holes may seem like a lot, but trust me, once you pop the first one in your mouth, you'll understand. They have the perfect ratio of sweet and slightly yeasty goodness. I have also ordered the chocolate raised and the chocolate cake donuts. Those are great as well, but the glazed donut holes are where it's at! The location of this place is easy to find and there is ample parking. The only reason why I cannot give this place a complete 5 stars is the ambiance leaves quite a bit to be desired and it looks like it needs a good scrubbing down. This place has a lot of potential to be a fun Sunday morning coffee/donut hang-out place, but it lacks any kind of warm, inviting feeling. Drove 30 minutes to try out this place and I was slightly underwhelmed. The store was pretty quiet and the lady was nice so that makes me think they are doing the best they can. Unfortunately, the donuts tasted very generic to me, like something I would find at Krispy Kreme but nothing really special. There was a choice cake or raised donuts which I went with raised donuts.
