This place is a classic! I loved the vibe and look! I was in the area running some errands in the morning and stopped here for a bite. I ended up with an egg and cheese on a bagel and a donut to go....and I could not resist the "Pizza Bomb" they had. I needed to try that! The egg sammy was solid; good bagel, good egg and cheese. Hit the spot! My wife and I ate the donut after I got back home. Delicious! Now the Pizza Bomb. This was unique! It was made with donut dough and had pizza ingredients for the filling (see pics). Stopped here for our midway stretch and fuel break between Hudson and Providence and we must have stumbled upon a neighborhood favorite because this spot was packed! Very cozy old fashioned donut shop. As a donut lover, I had to get one of my faves (old fashioned) and I asked the staff for their recommendation and went with the honey cruller. I'd actually never had this before but my husband and I both took a bite and decided it tasted like sweet corn dog breading and we weren't mad at it! This spot was tiny and bustling but they move the line quickly. Not in Springfield often anymore but would recommend it to anyone in the area! I was trying to get out of Massachusetts and back home to Cleveland as quickly as possible to beat a winter storm, after getting gas nearby I was headed to the highway when I noticed Donut Dip. I had just seen Donut Dip pop up in an online article as the best donut place in Massachusetts and so I had to stop. Donut Dip is an old school donut shop, a large selection of a wide variety of flavors are on display. The short line moved quickly and I ordered an Apple Fritter and a Chocolate topped custard stick for the road. The price was a bit higher than I expected but the donuts were big and looked great and I wanted some food for the road so I didn't have to stop. The Apple Fritter was good, however it seemed to be a bit light on actual apple piece and while tasty it just wasn't anything special. The Custard stick was excellent, the custard was rich and luscious which nicely balanced the perfectly fried donut, the topping was thick and chocolaty giving the donut an old school feel. Although I didn't have a long visit I would say that overall Donut Dip has very good to great donuts. The shop feels classic and if I was nearby I would love to try some of the other flavors. What a find!! We were in Springfield for the night and wanted somewhere to grab coffee and treats in the morning. Donut Dip was around the corner from our hotel and it was a store frozen in time. They were packed but the line moved quickly. They had about 30-40 kinds of donuts/pastries and the coffee was fresh. Prices were good-8 donuts and 2 coffees for just over $20. There are no tables-everything is to go. We brought home maple glazed, chocolate, coconut, cider and a melt away and all received high praise. It's a must go if you are in the area. read more

Donuts are fine. We use to love going here back in the day but I find myself not wanting to return. Went in early on a few different occasions and the workers were extremely rude each time. The dirty looks and attitude when all you're trying to do is be friendly and order is extremely concerning. They take other rude customers before you (not sure if they knew them or if they were just white). If you don't like the way someone looks or you want to be prejudice why wouldn't you want to get them out the door faster. Very unprofessional. They need an attitude and an ego check. Doesn't feel POC friendly. You can't blame the rush when they're the ones causing long lines by ignoring customers to gossip with one another. read more

STAPLE STAPLE STAPLE! This place is a legend and depending on the time of day there can be a line out the door. (Don't be scared though it moves quickly, these employees are professionals!!). I was in town on a business trip and it was located across the street from my hotel. Bacon(or sausage)/egg/cheese is made right in front of your face with real eggs and is only served on a bagel (there is a variety of flavors). Coffee is fine (I drink decaf which is never as good as the diesel variety anyway), but the donuts are OUTSTANDING! If you have to wait for a breakfast sandwich, shimmy yourself up next to the drink cooler and watch the bakers make and fry and decorate the donuts. I could watch them all day! I truly can't wrap my brain around how incredible this donut shop is. You can tell that it's a staple in Springfield; everyone comes here for their Sunday morning family donuts. There was some parking up front and lots more in the back. I recommend getting here early- it seems like the best donuts sell out FAST! Plan to wait in line, though service is so efficient and staff are incredibly friendly (this place is popping)! This donut shop has retro, family-owned forever vibes. It's so classic. 49 different coffee flavors?!? So great. I really really enjoyed my croissant/sausage/egg breakfast sandwich; maybe one of the best I've ever had! I don't know how you can pick only one donut- there were so many options, including a GIANT DONUT the size of my head. I would drive all the way from Central NY just to come to this donut shop. Walking up to and then into this donut shop feels like you're going back in time. The place has an old and classic look, and as soon as you walk in you're greeted by classic customer service. Everyone who was working behind the counter seemed like they all had a vested interest in the business, with friendly greetings and helpful service. There were clearly a lot of regulars here, and understandably so. I was just passing through, but I was still treated as though I had been there many times before. The donuts were great. I had a maple donut (they were unfortunately out of bacon to go on top), a strawberry jelly filled, and an old fashioned. The donuts are mostly cake type rather than raised, but they were all very good. Anytime I'm passing through again I'll certainly make a point of stopping by Donut Dip for a sweet treat. Donut Dip is a staple in Western Mass, however I always went to East Longmeadow's location which has since closed. West Springfield is very busy, but still so delicious. Donuts and sandwiches are small/average size and of course due to the high quality, pricier than Dunkin. But it is so worth it. The location is small and crowded, so be sure to take your stuff to go. From my prior two visits, I remembered Donut Dip is near the West Springfield exit off 91. Donut Dip has an old school donut shop vibe and they mainly serve the classics. My wife and 9 year old said they didn't want anything, but I knew. I ordered my black iced coffee and a half dozen sampler based on my family's tastes. Boston Cream. French Cruller. Butternut. Honey Cruller. Maple bacon. Apple Fritter. The iced coffee was solid donut shop work. The donuts I sampled were 5 Yelp Star Material. I tried varying portions of the fritter, both crullers, and the Maple Bacon. These are all donuts I might order from my favorite places around the country. None of these donuts were my absolute favorite, but Donut Dip executed each at a very high level. The flavors and textures were on point. They all tasted very fresh even though we arrived around 2:15. They still had a robust selection at that time. I wonder if they make donuts throughout the day. Five Stars for Donut Dip. Just passing thru town, one of my buddies turned me onto this place and said Donut Dip makes great, simple doughnuts. There are no $7 bacon crusted Creme Brûlée doughnuts being served. Donut Dip is a roadside doughnut shop serving the freshest cake doughnuts. I swung by twice in two days for coffee and a doughnut. I was impressed each day with the taste and freshness of their doughnuts. Nothing too sweet, I'm a happy pappy with a cake cruller and a cuppa coffee. And they're making your coffee the old fashioned way, I asked for cream with two sugars. Just the way I like it. I also bought their travel cup for the car ride back to New York. What happened to Donut Dip? So many issues lately. If you think someone couldn't screw up donuts, well ... They like to put the 'faulty' donuts in the front of the basket and get rid of those first. Yesterday, they gave me the one filled donut that was upside down in the basket--someone dropped it?-- and a cruller that looked like it had been fried twice--it was dark brown, looking burned. You don't earn tips like that, silly girl. Quirk: I like to cut cream filled donuts in half using the cream insertion area as the center point, attempting to ensure I get cream in every bite. ; ) I cut one of the cream-filled donuts open this morning and there was no cream at all on one side and about a teaspoon, if that, on the other. Yet this is a specialty donut? It was a plain, sugared dough blob. Previously, they billed me for a coffee larger than I had purchased. That day, I also ordered a home-cut and they gave me a glazed instead, way too sugary for my taste. I discovered it when I got to work and gave it to a coworker. One time I ordered two specific donuts, and received something different, a sickeningly sweet, utterly distasteful option I discovered when I got home. When I went back a few days later and asked for the donuts I had not received, I was told I needed a receipt. Seriously? You want to lose a customer for your cost of two donuts? Funny, I had the receipt at home so went back another day and told the story. Two nice girls said if it happens again to see one of them, aka the ones who know what's going on there? Was this place sold and under new operation? It's so weird to have so many seemingly simple donut screwups within such a short period of time. This all happened within a couple weeks. If you want a donut from a quaint old-timey shop, intensely monitor the counterperson and don't drive off until you know you got what you paid for, which ruins the anticipation of sitting down when you get home or to work to enjoy a donut and coffee. it should be an easy grab-and-go, but it is no longer that. Three stars is for the helpful counterpersons who wanted to correct the bad experiences, definitely not for yesterday's burned & upside-down donut procurement.
