Stopped in for lunch on way back to the house. It's an old drive in and places for the kids to run around. We all got a burger with fries. In my mind it the best burger for drive in's in a 30 mile radius. Haven't tried it but my grandkids on their last trip up had their ice cream and loved it better than in town. We saw a long line here while driving the 202 and pulled a U-turn to check this spot out. A tremendous offering of ice cream. They claim to have like a hundred options. Very easy to get overwhelmed. I kept my order simple with a soft serve vanilla on a cake cone dipped in butterscotch glaze which was a temporary offering. The ice cream was incredibly fluffy. You could see small air pockets which is not something I typically look for in ice cream. The ice cream is still rich and creamy despite the light texture. The butterscotch dip was a great topping. It was a transient option, but I'd be inclined to try any dip. I'd skip on the cake cone, but it was the only cone that they'd dip. It a tough choice between dip or waffle cone. Service was fast. The ice cream list is overwhelming with options... like it took even me 10 mins to decide. Cindy's is one of the very few reasons people come to Granby. It's changed so much over the years! I can't believe they got rid of their indoor seating. Those adorable diner booths were a huge part of the charm. Instead, they have a ton of outdoor seating. I love Cindy's! I personally think they have THE best soft serve. It is way creamier and richer than other ice cream places. They give huge portions which is why I usually get the kiddie cone. Now that I'm vegetarian, there's not much on the food menu for me. Cindy's never disappoints. The wait can be long, but typically the food and ice cream are well worth it and the staff are friendly. There is no indoor seating anymore, so go on a nice day. Stopped at Cindy's Drive In with my wife as we travelled from Vermont to NYC. It was a 25 minute detour off route 91 but it was well worth the detour. Loved it so much, we will certainly return. Our favorite was the maple bacon crème which is a seasonal flavor. Absolutely fantastic with actual bacon mixed in. The chili cheese dog with o ions was solid too. My pup loved her ice cream. We'd driven past this place before. They had good prices and long lines for sure. A very popular place. You can get food there, but we stopped for the ice cream. I got the Barbie, which was a special because of the movie. It tasted like strawberry lemonade. The French vanilla ice cream was good as well. The watermelon slush was a little too sweet and fake tasting. They were having a Harry Potter week with special flavors for that. I take my son to Cindy's because of the play equipment. It could be a really great place for kids but unfortunately now, most of the play scapes are all pushed together and a mess. There are pieces that have broken off just laying around. There is also trash left around. We arrived here the last time at 11am and the workers or owners should clean the place up either the night before or before they open the next day. There are also weeds all over the play train. It seems like laziness on the owners part. read more

The grounds and playground for children are nice. However the icecream prices are very high and the menu is not accurate. Some of the workers lack appropriate training. A hot fudge sundae is $6.50. I was asked if I wanted nuts and had to ask if nuts are extra. Yes, they are. I received bill of 12.50 for my sundae and a small scoop of chocolate ice cream for my wife. I asked how that is possible. I was then told (after ordering) there is an added charge for hard ice cream. The menu is inaccurate (worker agreed). In ending, their prices are ridiculously high. You can buy name brand (more flavorful) ice cream for 3-$5 a half gallon at supermarkets or visit other ice cream shops in the local area. read more

A really cool thing about Cindy's is that you can have any milkshake you want. Any soft serve flavor can be made into a milkshake, which is very cool. I knew I was going to visit the reservoir to spend the afternoon with my husband as a pre anniversary get away. So I did research online to find the nearest ice cream shop and I found Cindy's. We had lunch at the reservoir and went after for ice cream. This place was overwhelming with all the different possibilities! We decided to do the hard serve ice cream because it was a really hot day and it was going to melt fast! You can try the hard flavors but not the soft serve flavors. So I had the moose tracks - OMM! Not stingy with the chunky goodness !! At the bottom was graham central. It was sooo good tasted EXACTLY like a graham cracker! To top it off I chose the chocolate toasted almond dipped cone. I was debating if I wanted to stop for dinner when I drove by a fun looking place with a full parking lot...so I pulled a 180 and parked in front of a wide field with play structures for kids and lots of fun colored chairs and tables. They have a huge menu of hard and soft ice creams. I had a Rhubarb Sundae which was delicious. I just wish there was more rhubarb and less whip cream. Crust was excellent. It was like a rhubarb pie with ice cream and whipped cream. Also enjoyed a BLT and small order of clam strips. All were very good. The BLT was loaded with bacon. I suggest not taking it out of the wrapping but eat it from the secondary wrap. The clam strips were not greasy AT ALL. They were great. I wish i had gotten the large size. My wife and I were out and about and decided to stop at Cindy's to give the hot dogs a try. We were warmly greeted when we walked in and took a seat at the counter. Both of us ordered the hot dog special with fries and a soft drink and asked what we would like on our dogs. I must say these were really good hot dogs. Perfectly cooked with a great snap in every bite.....but the grilled roll all nice and soft and slightly crispy put these dogs over the edge for me. The fries were golden brown and crispy and fresh....how could you ask for more for a mere $6.00. Oh did I mention.....these aren't regular size hot dogs.....no no these are in my opinion 8 inches or so. Much larger than the competitors and may I say cheaper. If you want a great hot dog at a reasonable price with a great atmosphere try Cindy's. read more
