Crab Cake
Erin C.

Don's Lighthouse was a spot that I was so excited to try, but it was a bit of a disappointment. Our service was mediocre. First, we ordered drinks, two French Onion soups, and the Crab Cake. They were very good! The Crab Cake was the star of the show. I was most excited to have the Filet Mignon - I love a good steak and have heard decent things about this place! My date ordered the Steak and Lobster - he said that it was good but not the best thing he's ever had. I ordered the Filet cooked medium/medium-rare with the whipped potatoes and swapped the green beans with asparagus. It looked great, but was cooked to medium well when I cut into it. It was tough to chew and was a bit of a disappointment. Both the mashed potatoes and asparagus were not great either. I would give this place another shot but not any time soon.

Back again for Don's delicious wedge salad. It has the perfect combination of ingredients. We always sit in the lounge and the bartender was very busy yet attentive and friendly.

Have been here a few times in the past month or so, and the food has been just okay. The inside is very old-school Cleveland and the service has been just fine...but the food is somewhat lacking, especially for the price. First time through we had the fried calamari appetizer along with a Bistro salad (which had way too much dressing) and a French onion soup that lacked any depth of real onion flavor. At our last meal, my wife's fish dish was extremely dry and my short ribs were almost half fat that was inedible. Wish i had better things to say...we may still give them a try for Happy Hour and see how those menu items fare, but we will probably not return for a sit-down dinner.

We want to Don's Lighthouse last week for dinner. We made reservations in case it was busy. They had plenty of seating, so you might be able to get away without a reservation, but don't chance it if your heart is set on dinner here. Especially on a weekend. Service and atmosphere was great. We had a very attentive and helpful server that gave us recommendations and checked on us often. Elegant restaurant that has a nice and fancy vibe to it. Great for date nights and special occasions. We sampled and found really good tasting wines. Made note and will purchase those wines in the future for casual drinking at home. We started with the complimentary bread and butter. Bread has hot out of the oven and tasted fresh. Also very soft. A+ on the bread. Same with the crab cake for an appetizer. Very small portion of just 1 crab cake, but favor was everything you could want when ordering a crab cake. Moving into the entree is where I marked them down on food. The main course of the meal(Steak, Walleye, Scallops) were excellent for all parties of our table. The problem was the sides were very lacking. My red potatoes were undercooked and hard. They just seemed basic with no added flavors. My green beans were cooked properly, but it was steamed green beans with zero flavor. They were just plain. Same with the corn mix. The sides need more flavor whether it's coming from a seasoning or sauce. We finished our meal off with bread pudding. Didn't get a picture of this, but it was tasty. I try bread pudding at any restaurant that offers it and felt this was mostly a flavored bread with ice cream on it. Not much of the creamy pudding to be a real bread pudding. But it was good for what it was. Overall, I do recommend trying this place. Some flavors will be bland while others will be flavor packed.

Great old school charm at the bar. Happy hour is great with plenty of bar seats. We had a group of 9 people and it's not always easy to squeeze into a bar and have good conversation. Huge, tasty martinis!!! We did not go in the restaurant but recommend the bar!!

I've lived in Cleveland my whole life and had never been to Don's. We stopped in for a quick dinner and cocktail. They had the filet and lobster tail special that was $10 off making it $55. The lobster was cooked well and tasted good. It also came with drawn butter heated with a candle which is always a nice touch. Our server seemed to be overwhelmed with his section and was not attentive to us. He served us but was not friendly or trying to make us enjoy our dining experience. I was also disappointed by the steak. We ordered rare plus and it came out medium to medium well. It had a great grill flavor but needed a sauce so it wasn't dry. The cut of meat was supposed to be a filet but seemed more like a lower grade cut like a sirloin as it was hard to cut and tough. A filet should be tender and lean, almost melt in your mouth if prepared correctly. I also experienced stomach issues after our visit, which I am unsure if it was related to our food or not. We enjoyed dinner but because of our overall experience, it is likely we will not return.

This is an awesome pick if you're looking for some gluten free options - especially pizza!!!!…read more (TIP: if you go during happy hour, pizzas are $10) I started with the cute lavender mocktail - it was photo cute & tasted delicious!!!! I went with my newly gluten free friend, who was craving some pizza! We decided on two pizzas the capricciosa ( artichokes, black cerignola olives, mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto di parma) and the spicy soppressata (fresh mozzarella, aged provolone, parmesan, pickled banana peppers - & we added pepperoni) Both were so good and we had 3 slices each to take home for lunch the next day!! I was happy I liked it because I am not a gluten free girly!! The staff were so friendly and it wasnt busy at all...which surprised me because everything was yummy & fast!! If you haven't tried this place definitely give it a try!!

I ordered my food over the phone before coming into the restaurant to pick it up. FOOD -- I ordered the Lamb Bolognese ($24). It tasted good especially the lamb but it was too creamy for me. They must have added cream, milk, or cheese to the tomato sauce because a few hours later, my stomach was hurting and the next day too, my stomach was also hurting again. I didn't eat the big lump of cheese that was added on top of the pasta (a bunch of white cheese) so the food item that hurt my stomach must have been in the sauce. I know, per the menu, the sauce is made with wine but normally a wine sauce doesn't hurt my stomach so it must be milk or cheese. The Lamb Bolognese came with a big quantity which was nice as I couldn't finish it all at once. The lamb was well cooked. While I was hoping to eat the leftovers the next day for lunch, I couldn't. Something in the food upset my stomach - it may have been the cheese or milk in the tomato sauce. SERVICE -- The lady who helped me at the counter was nice and I checked out easily. I hope to visit again for an in-person visit instead of a carry out order and to order something different because that their food is really good. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 25/250 total reviews in 2026 - 866 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 14 April 2026

There was just the right ratio of their homemade sauce, which complemented the smokey cheddar very well. 2. Over Dressed Greens -- I truly did not expect this to be one of my favorites of the night! The salad is generously mixed with their homemade white French sauce, and you could really taste the freshness of the vegetables and produce. They pickle their zucchinis, which was such a pleasant surprise because it added a crunchy texture alongside the croutons and the pickled flavor truly elevated the entire salad! 3. Jammy Eggs -- Egg yolks were cooked to perfect consistency and I loved their take on an Asian-fusion style dish with their furikake seasoning, which also gave slight crunchy texture alongside their creamy sauce that gave a hint of spiciness. 4. Szalay's Sweet Corn -- The mix of the cacio e pepe and miso aioli worked really well as the sauce for the sweet corn and gave it a creamy and savory flavor with every bite! All the cocktails we tried were very special and delicious! Their ingredients list includes unique combinations that pleasantly work for the drink. My favorite drink was "Never Too Much" and I don't even like Hennessy like that haha -- it was such a refreshing drink and the peach and lemon flavors truly was perfect for the fall season. As for service, our waitress Tate was incredibly friendly and efficient and gave us complimentary dessert due to a slight water spill during the meal. I can now fully understand the hype of this restaurant and when I come visit again, I will absolutely be back -- no questions asked!

We had…read moreexcellent service from when we were seated on-time for our reservation to when we got the check. Everything came out in a timely and well-paced manner and our server went above and beyond in providing outstanding midwestern niceness and hospitality, explaining dishes to us, engaging in conversation, answering our questions, and working with the kitchen to make some minor accommodations to the dishes. The prices were also reasonable for the portion sizes. The ambiance is an interesting, funky mix of open piping with an open kitchen concept and artwork with a nod to Cleveland. My wife and I split several dishes and were fine to outstanding; however, I am giving Cordelia four stars because several dishes were way too salty, affecting what otherwise would have been amazing dishes. My wife and I shared the following dishes: Party snacks: One of the two star dishes of the night. The bread was crispy and served as a great vehicle for the dips. The carrot muhammara, farmer's cheese, and jammy eggs were particularly good and the three snacks I would get if I were only ordering three snacks. Blooming Eggplant: The other star dish of the night, besides being unique with Michelin-caliber presentation, the fry was perfect, the sauce was good, the coating was crispy, and the eggplant well-cooked. The lemon brought everything together and provided some welcome acid. A little on the salty side but very good. Cavatelli: The cavatelli were perfectly al dente; unfortunately, the sauce was overwhelming salty and took away from the pasta. Tomatoes a la chaoshou: The tomatoes were in-season and extremely fresh. The sauce was good, if slightly salty. Ohio Green Beans: The green beans were perfectly cooked with some firmness, nicely seared, and presented well. The zhug was quite salty and detracted from the green beans, although the crunch of the pistachio was excellent. Kate's Fish: The lake walleye was fresh and the accompanying sauces were good and provided nice flavor to give body to the fish (although a bit salty). The skin needed to be crispier; overall, an OK dish but nothing distinctive. My wife and I got the dirt 'n worms and the corn ice cream with caramel sauce for dessert. The caramel sauce was good; the corn ice cream was bland and the mousse was average. I would recommend Cordelia for your next special occasion.

I've been wanting to check this place out for quite some time, and I'm so glad we finally had the opportunity. Now I'm just sorry we didn't go sooner! Everything from start to finish was excellent. The restaurant is very open and comfortable with plenty of seating, and it wasn't overly busy when we went. We parked in the adjacent lot across the street, which was free after 6 PM, and with our 6:00 PM reservation, we were seated right away. We started with the vegan cauliflower with sweet chili ginger sauce, which was delicious. For my meal, I ordered the Lakewood Citizen Salad and added grilled chicken. It was such a large, hearty salad, which I absolutely love. Definitely not one of those tiny salads that leaves you hungry! My husband ordered the Hot in Cleveland chicken sandwich with garlic aioli fries. My older son got the Forge Burger with regular fries, and my younger son ordered the pierogi dinner. And we need to talk about the fries for a minute... they were outstanding! You could tell they were fresh-cut and homemade, and everyone agreed they were some of the best fries we've had in a while. Of course, we couldn't leave without dessert, so we ordered three to share: blueberry cheesecake, creme brulee, and chocolate creme brulee. Every single one was fantastic! Overall, everything was excellent--from the food and atmosphere to the service and experience. We definitely will be back, and I'm already wondering why we waited so long to try it!
