Ambience 1 Service Minus 16 Food 2 Price $$ We walked in at 6pm on a Friday night, party of 5, and was immediately seated. They were not busy (should have told me something). Table next to us was loud and obnoxious. But they left within 30 minutes. They were having fun. Just annoying loud. The AC was not working. Neither was our server. We watched other servers offer full meal service while we were waiting for our server. It took a good 20 minutes for her to return with our 5 beverages. Refills were requested 3 times before anyone was refilled. The beer was not cold. She served one appetiser then disappeared for 30 minutes while the other 4 of us waited to order dinner. We were all hot, tired and hungry after driving 3 hours. We arrived at 6 and dinner took just over 3 hours. We had a 6am fishing charter and just wanted to go to sleep. The food was ok. I ordered the gyro. It was good but not great. Others said the same. Our group ordered a cod sandwich, french dip, Italian sub and an Avacado chicken wrap. The sides were wrong. Instead of correcting the order, she brought one side plate for people to move the chips off their plate to give to another diner. That person then had to transfer fries to the correct plate. Then the waitress disappeared. She never checked on us. After about 15 minutes I went to the hostess stand to complain and request a new bun for the cod, my son didn't like the romulade sauce. A manager never approach us, even after I complained. Service did not improve even after I complained. (Another strike). In the meantimethere was a table of 5 or 6 near us that arrived after us sharing the same server. They ate, paid and left shortly after we received our entrees. After driving 3 hours of driving, we just wanted to refuel and then get on with our vacation. The waitress ruined this meal for my family. We should have been out of there in 60-90 minutes, NOT 3 hours parched and over heated only to be served incorrect food we were expected to correct. Did I mention there was no AC? When we arrived it was 97° plus humidity outside. I'm not returning. read more

Food was incredibly boring. All of the chicken dishes at our table of 8 used the same precooked, pre sliced chicken. No reason you can't cook a chicken breast to order for a sandwich- let alone a salad. Small portions of the hand cut fries (those were pretty good). French onion soup is a must! I loved it. It came hot and the cheese was bubbly on top. I also ordered the firecracker shrimp. Delicious. Fresh and the dipping sauce had a spicy bite to it. Went for lunch today. The menu has changed. My husband was looking for a sandwich he enjoyed which wasn't available. The waitress offered a suggestion which wasn't close. I ordered the grouper sandwich, which was tilapia. No comment about the substitute. I paid the check in cash, with a generous tip. The waitress had to check to be sure it wasn't counterfeit cash. Visited yesterday with a couple friends. Sangria was very good - although there was a definite difference between the Happy Hour Sangria vs the Full priced Sangria!! Spinach & Artichoke dip was so good! Yum All 3 of us enjoyed our food. Service was excellent!!! If there is anything to complain about it is the prices. My 5 star rating is because we have been there so many times over the years. The servers are always friendly and hustle. The service is fast and has never been slow. The food is of variable assortments from salads to sandwiches to entrees and then some. It has never been bad or poorly prepared. The restaurant has a patio in the spring/summer/fall which isn't too big (they have heaters) but is nice to sit in. The inside is not too loud and they have a private room for parties that need it. You can go there and watch games as the monitors are pretty much well placed in strategic positions all over the place. For good food, service, and ambience for all ages... this is a nice place to go. Pricing went up after the pandemic, so it is on par with other places with regards to pricing. But the food is much better than winking lizard or Panini's (for examples). read more

I ordered food from my mom's job on 2-25-2024. When I called it was a host on the phone, then I asked to speak to my mother. My mom said order with the host then she put the host on the phone. It was either the manager Audrey or one of the hostess. But I did NOT order any food with my mom. I specifically said SHRIMP LINGUINI ALFREDO and I received CAJUN RAMBA PASTA. When I called back because I received an INCORRECT ITEM THAT I paid for, they told me I ordered the Cajun pasta and not the Alfredo. I told the manager that I know what I said...she refused to give a refund or replacement item and continued to say that I placed the order with my mom and I didn't. Then they fired her a week later. Our hostess and server were both very courteous and professional. My husband was excited to find out that Shrimp and Grits, his favorite, was the evening special. I chose the AJ Burger and fries. The food came pretty promptly. My husband enjoyed the flavors of his Shrimp and Grits. And my burger was done medium, the way I requested. Neither dish came out very warm. My husband and I have been coming to AJ's frequently over the last few years. It is one of our favorite go-to spots. However, the prices keep going up, and the quality / flavor keeps going down! We thought maybe it was just a fluke, but the last three times we've been here, we've been so disappointed. They used to have the absolute best sangria ever, but not anymore :( It's more like juice now. The spinach and artichoke dip, again, used to be the absolute best ever! Ambience was fair, very clean. Service was above average, very friendly. Prices are HORRIBLE and they charge a credit card processing fee. Two sandwiches (one was Italian lunch meat and the other was chicken tender) with kettle chips, one soft drink and one water cost over $38. It's just an amazing cozy spot. Everyone is always great and attentive, our server last night was so great and easy to talk to. I got an ellicottville blueberry ale which is the staple of my hometown... I am from Buffalo and so are the owners! They always have great food, I was craving fish so we decided to come here tonight. The fish was breaded perfectly with the right seasoning and not too much salt. They had malt vinegar available for the fries, the coleslaw was on point and so was the homemade tartare. So good. They always decorate seasonally and it just feels like home everytime we come back. Some of the reviews I've seen here complain of high prices and I have to think... seriously?! Have you not seen the rising food costs?! And the complaint of lack of flavor... y'all must love salt. Their food here is perfect and you get a lot on your plate. One of my favorite Westlake discoveries so far! Stopped here one night when looking for dinner and have been back at least 5 times now! Their French onion soup was some of the best I've ever had - you need to try it!! There is ample parking as AJ's is located in a plaza with a ton of other shops. Going back to the archives, I've been here a total of 4 times dating back to 2015, including this most recent visit. My family used to frequent this spot when it was a Frankie's Italian pizzeria back in the day. Amazing how things have changed. Out of all the times I've been here, I've never had a bad experience from a food or service perspective; however, the reason for the 4 stars is that I've just had better food before and needed more flavor. For me.
