Stopped by Nemo Grille in Avon, a local favorite I've passed many times but finally decided to experience. The restaurant is a quaint and charming spot, perfect for a date night. I highly recommend making reservations. The white-linen tables, cloth napkins, and impeccable service create a warm and intimate dining atmosphere. To start, I ordered the calamari, which was delightful--delicately fried and perfectly crispy. It was delicious on its own but elevated by two dipping options: a sweet and tangy Thai chili sauce and a creamy aioli. I also enjoyed the wedge salad, layered with flavor thanks to the bacon and blue cheese crumbles. For the main course, I ventured off menu and ordered the evening's special: Chilean sea bass over gnocchi with a beurre blanc sauce. The fish was beautifully prepared--tender, buttery, and truly melt-in-your-mouth. Food is delicious. Everything is really good and I would be hard pressed to find anything I didn't like. The service is always good. The food comes out quickly and hot. The building is old but cozy. However, I don't understand why people bring small children to this restaurant. It really isn't designed for little ones. read more

This was my last day of vacation, and was met with a total miss. I made reservations, and when we went in there were multiple tables, but we were sat in the table directly in front of the kitchen and it began a night of being irritated. The service was beyond awesome as they have been before, but the meal was an uphill battle. The Wild Mushroom Gnocci appetizer was overcooked and the gnocci was rubbery. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. Our server told us multiple times we could have a free dessert for the wait. 50 minutes after we ordered our food arrived. I ordered the duck with fig sauce and potatoes. Mashed potatoes stole the show, fig sauce was amazing. Duck cut was pretty brutal. Was akin to having a short rib or prime rib cut rather than duck with the fat content being ridiculous with what I was given. My partner had the bacon chicken mac and cheese and the only thing that could be tasted was the bacon I've been here before, and they get busy. But I've never had such a bad experience with ALL of their food before let alone the experience. It was extremely disappointing and I can honestly say despite the server being absolutely incredible, I don't see myself returning. read more

We have been to Nemos one other time for an anniversary. The service was amazing and our experience and food was amazing then. Unfortunately this visit was not. The service was exceptional but the food was not. The duck was not prepared well and the gnocchi appetizer was good flavor but rubbery and overcooked. The poor server did apologize three times for the 45 minute wait for our food, and on the last apology offered to give us a complimentary dessert. Unfortunately we wont be back, for the price you expect more and Nemos did not deliver more. Ill go to Hyde Park, Cabin club, or angry bull next time. read more

We have been to Nemo Grille many times, but our dinner this past Saturday evening was amazing. We decided late in the day to go out to dinner and we were fortunate enough to get a table at Nemo's. Everything was perfect. The drinks were as promised. The ahi tuna nacho appetizer was delicious. Our dinners were so good! I had the salmon special, and others had the seafood stuffed shells and the short ribs from the menu. We all were so pleased with our meals! I came to Nemo Grille with my colleagues for dinner. We had a pretty large group and they seated us in the semi-outdoor patio area facing the street. My experience at this place was very good and I would definitely go again! Parking is easy with the lot connected to the restaurant. They had a wide variety of wines and beers to select from. I got a Pinot Grigio and people in my group ordered various wines and beers. Our waiters and waitresses were attentive to detail and refilled our waters and brought more drinks as people finished their glasses. We ordered appetizers for sharing: mushroom gnocchi, tuna tartare nachos, calamari, and hummus. Each person ordered our own entree. I had the Chilean sea bass and it was wonderful. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their entrees too. My only small complaint about the place is that the giant heater up on top was really bothering me. When it is on, it heats my entire face (I was facing the heater) and I felt a bit dehydrated from that heat, yet my toes are cold. I wish the heater was set up on the bottom outer edge of the area instead of the top. Heat rises... so having the heater on the bottom would make more technical sense... maybe something for the restaurant to consider during the next remodel. read more

A friend mentioned this restaurant a few months ago and since I had a late afternoon meeting with a client in Avon decided to do an early dinner with my wife. This is what I would call an excellent neighborhood restaurant. Really good quality food, excellent service, beautiful decor in a converted upscale home. You could go formal or casual here and feel comfortable. Great wine list - excellent service from a team of tenured staff. We will be back! read more

Been here a couple times before and was excellent, that's why I decided to bring a group of 7. Helen our server was excellent. Apps and drinks were all great. My husband ordered the short ribs and I the sea bass... both of our entrees were cold. My husband decided to eat his anyway, I sent mine back, it was remade, however it wasn't seasoned, very bland and not as hot as it should of. Very disappointed, For bring such a great place with their price points, I expect hot food hot. Server took the meal off the bill as well as a glass of wine at the end. Wife and were there with another couple who had ordered the lasagna. It looked weak and watery. My wife had the scallops that she usually gets that were good! I ordered the duck which had mashed potatoes that cold and with no gravy (lousy). Also had the mushroom soup that is usually good. It wasn't that day. Not long after dinner I began experiencing severe gastrointestinal distress. I had all I could do to get home. I did not recover for three days. We have dined here many times. Each time I wonder why. It's always cramped and loud. Food is average at best and certainly not cheap! To become ill in such a short time after eating clear to me the food was rank. We will not be back. This was a lovely dinner with family! Food tasted exceptional and drinks were very good as well. The Shrimp and Grits are amazing, forgot to take pic. Service was nice as well. I felt this was a nice place but people had on jeans, sweatshirts, and even trucker hats. My only complaint was the level of light. We were sat in a corner that had minimal light besides the candle at the table. I like to see what I'm eating and reading the menu was difficult. This is our "special occasion" restaurant. Food is an art form here. Service is excellent. Decor is classy. I have had several different entrees over the years, all wonderful, but the filet mignon is beyond amazing. Salads are the freshest and, in the summer, they serve fabulous tomato salads. Their 2008 tomato salad was seasoned with more salt than the average person might enjoy. I am a salt lover, though, and it was perfect for me. On a subsequent visit to Nemo's, I asked for it and praised its saltiness. Sadly, it was unavailable but, when our meals were served, they gave me a salt cellar filled with coarse-ground salt. That impressed me more than I can say. They care about everything that their customers care about. Serving sizes are right-on. This is one of the very nicest restaurants I've ever visited, anywhere. I had scallops served over a mushroom risotto that was perfectly prepared, the risotto was hot and the scallops were just barely browned and not overdone. It was delicious. My wife had a chicken breast served with an arabiatta pasta. It was delicious as well. All the menu items looked good to me, so I'll have to return for more. I would have given five stars if the room had been warm enough for my wife to eat without keeping her coat on. read more

My initial impression when we walked in was that it was nothing special. You enter through the bar area, where there are about 8-10 seats, but it's nothing special. We were a party of 6 and were seated in a small room with another table set for 10. Again, the room was nothing special, but everything did feel clean. From there on out, everything went up hill. Our server was wonderful. She had plenty of personality and was helpful with our selections. She wasn't intrusive, but was there when we needed her. They have a nice wine list by the bottle or glass, as well as many specialty cocktails. My Malbec was good, but I wish the pour had been just a bit bigger for the price. The menu has some very interesting items and there were also several specials of the day. I chose the cantaloupe soup which was a special, and the duck. Many people got the lobster bisque soup and loved it. The cantaloupe soup was interesting, but a cup would have been plenty as I couldn't eat the whole bowl. The duck was utterly fantastic. It was cooked medium and served with a fig sauce which was amazing. The carmelized mashed potatoes were wonderful and the grilled asparagus cooked perfectly. Can you tell I loved my mea? I ate every bite. When checking in with my Yelp app, I got a free dessert, so the 6 of us shared a carrot cake. It wasn't my favorite carrot cake as it was a bit dry, but we finished it off. Prices are a bit high, so I would put this on my list of restaurants to go to for a special occasion. read more

I can't begin to describe how good this place is! Top notch service, great tasting food, and a quaint atmosphere. This place is great for your every day meals and special occasion gatherings. The lasagna was a very hefty portion and jammed packed with flavor. The sea bass (the old way) is magnificent! And if you want to leave with a full stomach and a "I want some more!" feeling get the braised short ribs (they are fork tender and so good that you will want to come back for the same dish over and over). The pear martinis are delicious! Lynn, our server, is a treasure. So friendly and knowledgeable. She will make your dining experience amazing. Atmosphere - Country Casual. Situated in a house, the restaurant feels like you are dining in your grandparents home. The decor is plain and the oak floors remind me of a farmhouse dining room. There is a somewhat small bar located in the first room as you enter. The remaining dining is broken up into the remaining rooms. I'm not sure if there is any dining upstairs. Service - very good. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food - excellent. We were a party of 6 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I started with the lobster bisque and it was excellent. It was served hot and tasted great. There was sufficient pieces of lobster, but I would have loved to have more. I ordered the veal scallopini and it was also excellent. It was flavorful and I was able to cut it with my fork. My wife has the duck and she loved it. Value - Very good. Although a little pricey, given the portion size and the excellent taste, the restaurant is well worth patronizing. read more

I have rather mixed emotions about Nemo Grille, but the bottom line is , we likely won't be back. We couldn't get Anniversary reservations at a nearby place so ended up here and found a much less than romantic experience. Because of the wood floors, low ceilings, and separated rooms it was very loud. Tables are close together and we could barely hear each other. It was not a comfortable dining experience. Service was quite slow and just okay. Not super friendly and didn't provide that WOW experience. I don't expect that everywhere I go, but because of the higher prices, I expected a much higher caliber quality. Our appetizer was a caress salad that fell short. Very little flavor on the dressing and very little of it. Our entrees were good, but again, Over-priced. Our drinks were never refilled. read more
