I have been sitting in this review for a couple weeks because I just didn't know what to rate Antica. My husband and I came here for Valentine's Day - we were excited to come and when we arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation they were able to seat us right away. The restaurant has 2 "rooms" one was a little more romantic and contained comfy looking couch/seats and the bar, the other room was a room, plain looking. I'm a sucker for theme drinks and ordered a Berry Hibis-KISS Cocktail. It literally had no flavor. My husband ordered an old fashion For food I got the Fig Carmelli it was delicious but wasn't enough especially for the $30 price tag My husband got the Chicken Parmesan normally priced $29, but for Valentine's Day was priced $30 Our total bill was $92.78 - not too bad! Here's why I diced the stars - there was a table near us, who was the only other table I could see our server waiting on. They folks were treated like KINGS - I saw her bring them bread, with oil Twice, they had their glasses refilled, the server kept checking on them and I overheard them talking about their desserts being "comped" Meanwhile, I had to walk to the bar to get a water refill, and when I asked about bread the server said "so sorry, the kitchen is really backed up" (amazing that it wasn't so backed up to get the other table bread twice, and every table in our room had bread, and the kitchen was able to get our food out, but couldn't get us a couple slices of bread over the hour were were sitting there!!!! Mother's Day. 3 adults and 1 child. Was hoping for a good experience but.... It was not packed so not sure why it took so long to get the food we ordered. When we ordered we Asked for an order of toast for our 4 year old to be brought out as soon as possible. That didn't happen. Our meals were served 2 and then after a while 2 more. Still no toast. We were told the kitchen was slammed. At least 2 of the meals were barely warm as though they had sat for a while before leaving the kitchen. The acoustics are terrible. Even the child said how loud it was. We had a hard time hearing each other. Not sure I'll be returning. read more

I've been meaning to come here and finally got the chance to the other day with my two girlfriends!! We decided to order family style way so we could all try everything! & our server was so kinda and helpful! We got the Cesar salad, spicy vodka pasta, and the bolognese! - & of course it came with bread and oil to dip in!! The oil had its own blend of yummy spices that worked so well with the bread... and the bread on its own was so light and not too heavy like most of them are!! Both pastas were delicious... my favorite was the spicy vodka.... I just love a good spicy sauce with some kick to it... but the bolognese was also pretty flavorful!! Both pastas pair well with the classic Cesar (& plus makes you feel like you're balancing your food and eating a lil healthier!) We were sadly too stuffed for dessert but I would love to come back here and try more of their delicious! I recommend this pretty place - perfect for a date night or birthday dinner!! read more

Listen, I hate to be a downer. I almost feel guilty for giving it 2 stars. But I thought about it and thought about it, because I came in thinking "3" but frankly, just couldn't do it. So let's get to it. 1st: Service, piss poor. Had to wait forever for EVERY course. 2nd: Overpriced. $32 for veal piccatta? Seriously? $10 for tiramisu? Come on, guys. Frankly, if the food was exceptional, I wouldn't have remembered the price. But the food was sub-par. It was edible, not terrible, but subpar. I've made better at home... all the time. Ok, the dinner: The bread: Good focaccia! But they hardly gave you any olive oil and herbs to dip it in! We had to ask for two refills on the dipping sauce. It was decent, but geez, guys, don't be so cheap. Arancini. This wasn't bad. It was the best part of the meal. It differed from your typical arancini you'd get in Rome, with the cheese in the middle and the rice/risotto surrounding it. They didn't give you nearly enough sauce. It was almost like a mac and cheese consistency. It's not traditional arancini, but it's good! Cocktails? Come on, guys! Put some booze in there! I then had prosecco with dinner. Veal Piccata: Bland and tasteless. I can make this at home so much better with very little effort. The veal was on the tough side. The sauce lacked that distinct flavor, with the sweet zing of lemon complemented by the saltiness of the capers, which makes a classic piccata. If the capers weren't in the sauce, I would have sworn there weren't any in there at all. They didn't even garnish it with a lemon to squeeze in there. It was like they poured it all out of a big pot of veal piccata they made last March (it's May). Pappardelle pasta? That's much too heavy for a light dish like this. Dessert! Now that's impossible to screw up, right? Wrong. I ordered the tiramisu. It was AWFUL! It was bland and dry....again!!! This is a straightforward recipe that's easy to make! Here, they make it and serve it in an individual bowl. The ladyfingers were dry. The whipped egg whites and mascarpone cheese tasted like Cool Whip. It was very pasty in consistency. Stone masons could use it to fill cracks in a building. In fact, Cool Whip would have been better. Hey cooks! Tiramisu is VERY EASY TO MAKE. Happy to come over and show you how to make a decent tiramisu. There's really no secret technique either. It was created to get rid of stale food in Italy. It was awful. They have a promising menu. And I'd go back, but only if there's a nuclear attack, and this restaurant is in the bomb shelter. Has anyone in the back of the house been to Italy, or a decent Italian restaurant in New York or Chicago? If you're into Italian food, go to Olive Garden or Carrabba's--they're Tastier and just as authentic (it's not!), and less expensive. Sorry guys. Hate to write something like this. The first thing I noticed when walking in was that the atmosphere is bright and welcoming with plenty of natural daylight! Service was a bit all over the place: the server got a couple things wrong despite writing down our order and was not great at multitasking, to put it lightly. But she was polite and friendly at least. As for the food: - Arancini: great crunch on the outside (not too greasy) with creamy risotto on the inside. It normally comes with chili aioli but we asked for lemon aioli and pomodoro sauce instead. Both were very good (lemon brightened the flavor and pomodoro was a good acidic contrast to the richness of the risotto). - Shrimp Bucatini Al Limone: bucatini is just fun to eat (a mix between spaghetti and macaroni: hollow in the middle)! The lemon cream sauce was indeed light as advertised. It came with a pretty generous amount of 16-20 size shrimp. Blistered cherry tomatoes provided a nice acidic pop to balance out the cream. The crunchy breadcrumbs on top (similar to panko) was a nice finishing touch. - Four Seasons Pizza: crust was very well done: light and airy on the inside with a soft crunch on the outside. Good proportion of sauce, cheese, and toppings. - Polpette (Kobe beef meatballs): very soft and flavorful (not dense like other meatballs I've had) - Short rib ravioli: the filling tasted great, cream sauce was good, but the demi-glace was too reduced/sweet - it tasted like they squirted grape jam over it! - Rucola salad with salmon: salmon had a crispy exterior and salad was light and refreshing. Went here for brunch and honestly, it was a pretty meh experience. The food just didn't live up to the expectations. The burrata was way too stiff--not the creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture it should have been. Definitely felt like it was served too cold or just not great quality. We also tried a pizza, and the cheese didn't seem high-quality at all. Plus, they really went overboard with the eggplant--it was more of an eggplant overload than a balanced topping. Antica in Avon was an incredible dining experience. The food and service were both top-notch. Honestly, the only "problem" with the menu is that there are way too many things that sound good. I ended up going with the salmon and couldn't have been happier. My son had pasta, and it was perfect. I had a long drive ahead so I had to skip the wine, but their wine list looked excellent. I also skipped dessert--not because I wanted to, but because they're so close to Mitchell's Ice Cream that I stopped there instead. My mom and I were in the Avon area after visiting her financial advisor. She wanted to find a decent place in the area to relax for dinner. I looked up Italian places nearby and Antica came up. It was a great pick! The food was outstanding. We tried their melt-in-your-mouth meatballs, side Antica and Caesar salads, their warm soft bread and olive oil blended with Parmesan cheese, and split a cheesy Margarita pizza. The food was delicious...every last bite! Even better was our attentive and friendly, thoughtful service by Hannah. She didn't rush us at all, so we had ample time to enjoy the meal and conversation. The vibes at this place was 11/10. The interior was gorgeous, cozy, modern, and all around cute. But first, let's talk about the amazing foccaccia they started us off with. By far, the BEST foccaccia I've had, ever. We didn't have any appetizers, just the bread, and it was 100% enough. Also had the branzino for dinner, which was delicious too. Skin was crispy, and the fish was cooked perfectly. We sat at the bar for dinner, and our waitress/bartender was an absolute gem, too, which, of course, made our time here even better. Lovely restaurant to unwind after a long drive from Chicago. Our server Lisa was so friendly and nice and was almost our local tour guide recommending us things to do in Cleveland. The food was delicious and perfect portions. My daughter got the ribs and pasta, son got the seafood pasta , hubby got the veggie pasta which had a nice kick of spice , I had the grilled salmon which was perfectly cooked . The food was very good we had the arancini to start which was delicious and for our mains we had the short rib ravioli and the spicy rigatoni with vodka sauce. Both were very good. The short rib ravioli had a great taste and sauce. The pasta on both was fresh and cooked well. Since it was my birthday they brought out dessert with a candle in tiramisu which was very good. Antica Italian offer creative dishes with Italian flare. They kick it up a notch with tasty cocktail and wine pairings. The open, well lit, and airy interior evokes a sense of relaxed conversational atmosphere. During my visit, a definite slower time (Sunday afternoon) I found the staff to be attentive and pleased to offer me suggestions. Our server was also the bar tender who makes a very tasty Espresso Martini which even this not-fan-of-espresso-martini loved sipping. The lavender gin sour is a boozy cocktail to so over conversation that's also pleasing to the eye. The brunch menu is creatively combining ingredients of an Italian dish with staple brunch ingredients. For example, The breakfast omelette is stuffed with creamy mozzarella, bacon, sausage, spicy aioli. It's served with fingerling potato and crostini. Perfetto! After a miserable experience dining in Cleveland's Little Italy we discovered this little restaurant in Avon. Guided by Siri we had no previous knowledge of the place but found pleasant decor and a spotless interior. We were greeted and seated promptly . Ours was a late lunch and there was only one other table taken. Our waitress was wonderful bringing bread and menus swiftly and taking time to explain a small but varied menu item-by-item. When one of our party requested an item from the dinner menu there was no hesitation in announcing they could accommodate her request. Our lunches were universally excellent particularly when weighed against our experience in Little Italy. The Spicy Rigatoni had just the right amount of heat. The beet salad and risotto were also superb. If Antica was 80% of what it was it would still rate 5 stars. read more

I was a bit underwhelmed for my first ever visit here. Both the food and atmosphere were uninspiring. There are many much better choices if you want Italian in the NE Ohio area. The atmosphere did not exhude 'Italian restaurant' in any way, since the dining area was in an 'open' setting (why do so many restaurants today opt for this kind of compromised floor plan?!) next to a large bar, which felt more like a generic airport cafeteria. At one point I couldn't even hear my wife speak sitting across from me, since the 'buzzed' ladies at the bar sounded as loud as a pack of hyenas! And the music was interesting to say the least! I heard everything from Irish jig music to Barry White (remember him?), but I guess Dean Martin's rendition of 'Volare' attempted to land us back in Italy just in time for dessert. Speaking of, the tiramisu was excellent. So was the flavorful rosemary bread. On the disappointing side, the seafood linguini had way too much lemon flavor and too little olive oil, which greatly overpowered the pasta and protein. The marinara sauce tasted bland and akin to Ragu. I've had much better pasta sauce at roadside classic diners! Service was excellent though, and our server was a total pleasure! read more

We were served bread hot out of the oven to start with which was heavenly. My husband and I both agreed we could make a meal on just that. Incredibly disappointed after hearing rave reviews. The arancini were incredibly salty and garlicky. Was looking forward to the Parmesan fries that were frozen from a bag and most likely baked as they were not crispy and had one shake of Kraft Parmesan cheese on them. The Mediterranean Sunset cocktail was great, but was never asked if I'd like another. After discussing with our server, I ordered the Quattro Formaggi & Chili Honey pizza. He pointed out it was spicy due to the hot honey and said I could omit the blue cheese if I didn't like it. I explained I am a blue cheese fan, so I'll take it as described. When our meals came, they were brought by another server who placed a Four Seasons pizza (San Marzano, Fresh Mozzarella, Eggplant, Roasted Red Pepper, Broccolini, Mushrooms, Oregano, Garlic Olive Oil) in front of me. I knew this was wrong and let her know, so she took it back to the kitchen. Our server then came over and asked "you sent it back?" I said "yes because that's not what I ordered" and he proceeded to tell me it was. I kindly called out "I ordered the Quattro formaggi because we discussed the hot honey and the blue cheese" and he proceeded to try and tell me once again that I was wrong. I explained I know what I ordered and would like that to be made. I was not offered anything in the meantime, so sat and ate the soggy French fries while everyone else ate their meals. The pizza eventually came out-with no hot honey. We were in the restaurant (which was not busy for a Friday night) for 2.5 hours. Everything was slow. We had to ask for dessert menus and I was never asked if I'd like another cocktail. Our server, who never told us his name, was not very attentive, nor did he try to apologize for his mistake. The vibe is good in the restaurant. Menu looks decent. We came for early dinner on an August evening and sat in the patio, which was very nice. Food was decent but not amazing. Arancini was okay, meatballs decent but nothing special. I ate the gnocchi bolognese which was decent too. Fries were pretty bad though. The sparkling sangria was mediocre too. Overall, it is a restaurant with good vibes and service, however food is mediocre. I will come back and try different things on the menu. Maybe I didn't try the right meals.
