Don Poncho's is a cozy restaurant with incredible mexican food that all tastes home cooked. During my last visit we ordered the beef chimichanga and their pechuga asada. Both meals come with rice and beans and the pechuga asada came with tortillas on the side. The meals were incredibly delicious and a great portion for the price. The restaurant also has an area with different salsas and toppings so that you can customize what you put on your meal. For an appetizer, we tried the esquites and they were just okay. The flavors were good but they were quite liquidy for my liking. Overall, a great place for mexican food with super kind servers. I'd recommend trying some of their main courses + their tacos are super tasty.

Service staff was very polite and welcoming. Dining area was clean and tidy. Food was very good. I will be coming back for more.

We had a great experience and meal at Don Poncho. The owner was so welcoming and the waitstaff was attentive our entire meal. We had the chicken fajitas which was packed with a great lime flavor. The portion was huge! I shared the meal with my husband and we still took home food. Plus it was reasonable at $16. We also had the shredded chicken and birria tacos which were also very good. They have a salsa topping bar so you can customize any of your meal selections which we loved. Most dishes come with corn tortillas, but you can ask for flour.

I was recommended this place and now I cannot recommend it enough. Our server Leidy was so sweet and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. I'm Mexican and when I tell you this food was so good! It tasted like my grandmother was in the back making everything for scratch. They have great lunch specials but we really went there for their chilaquiles. We have heard such great things about them. We also ordered the gorditas de chicharrón and a kids meal. They have a salsa bar with so many great homemade salsas that all have great flavor. We added chicken and egg to our chilaquiles. They had such a great seasoning that I had never had before. It was mesmerizing. The Gorditas were so good and we could tell they were made from scratch. The kids meal consisted of two tacos, with rice and beans. It also included a drink. I cannot recommend this place enough. Everything is authentic and has great taste.

I have seen the restaurant on my way to downtown WG and kept it in mind to try. I was in the area and craving tacos and decided to stop by. The restaurant has plenty of inside seating, a salsa station and you order at the counter. The girl that took my order was friendly and attentive. I also was greeted by another lady (owner or manager) and she mentioned that I should come back for breakfast time (they open early at 5am!) since they have available a buffet style counter with various dishes to choose and order. My order was to go, since I needed to get back home. I had the tacos estilo de la calle with comes with 3 tacos and a side of rice and beans. I had 2 shredded chicken y 1 chicharron (upcharge). Everything was packaged with care to be kept hot and it was delicious! Flavorful, tasty, made to order and authentic for sure. I even got chips and salsa which was a nice touch and the salsa was good! I will definitely come back and I will try to make it for a late breakfast.

I'm convinced I've never had authentic Mexican food before. I've been to great Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants but never as authentic as Don Poncho. I placed takeout order to pick up. We ordered 5 things and it took 20 mins which is pretty fast. When I went to pick up the order, the inside of the restaurant is minimally decorated but pretty clean with about 10ish tables. The staff at the pickup counter was very friendly and efficient. We ordered the following: 1. Birria Queso tacos - These are extremely delicious! I love dipping the tacos in the consommé. 2. Tortas sandwich - Very good sandwich and a lot of food for the price! 3. Menudo - The best thing I've tried here! I know beef tripe isn't for everyone but the soup was super flavorful and the tripe were very tender. 4. Guacamole - Good and fresh, came with 2 bags of chips. 5. Flautas - Tasty Parking was pretty easy since the restaurant is located in a small mall with free parking lot.

OH MY GOD!! This place is a GEM in Winter Gardens. The food is made authentically the Birria was on point ! Not to say the rice , beans, the salsa and guacamole was awesome. The prices were unbelievable for the quality, taste and quantity. Wait !!that's not all the server Julie was so accommodating, I felt like family she really loves her job there and it shows. The manager was also very nice. If you have not been you there you don't know what you are missing!!

The food is priced reasonably, authentic and delicious! You HAVE to try their chicharrón with Nopal! Just try it. It's got a bit of spice, but packs a nice Punch of amazing and unique flavor. You cannot go wrong with their Queso Birria Tacos. Their breakfast taco selections hands down the best in the Orlando area for authentic homemade flavor!

From the outside, the restaurant is pretty unassuming, but if you've spent time eating at authentic Mexican spots, you know that's usually a good sign. Inside, it's small and quaint and honestly feels like you've stepped into someone's home kitchen in the best way. We ordered plain bean and cheese burritos to-go (a true test for any Mexican spot) along with a small order of chips. While waiting about 10 minutes for our food, we loaded up at the salsa bar. We tried four salsas: roasted tomato, enchilada, habanero, and tomatillo, and every single one tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. Serious salsa bar goals. If I had to rank them, the roasted tomato and tomatillo were my favorites, but honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. Then came the burritos. One bite immediately took us right back to the LA food trucks we grew up with--simple, comforting, and exactly what a good bean and cheese burrito should be. Finally, a bean and cheese burrito that tastes like California. I wish I had taken photos, but honestly... I was too excited and dug right in. Safe to say we'll be back soon. This has officially become our new go-to spot for Mexican takeout. Pro tip: Don't skip the salsa bar--grab a few different ones and experiment.

Food: - Mexico City tacos: including 2 steak, 2 al pastor and 1 carnita. A great taco sampler. Was a big fan of the amazing, fresh, hearty and well seasoned meat. 5 tacos, if you can't decide this is a great sampler! - beef nachos: LOADED! Ground beef topping, was ample, refried beans, cheese sauce, and topped with fresh tomatoes, it was super flavourful and yummy. Filling to say the least, recommend to share for 2-3 as a side or even a main! - Fish tacos: grilled tilapia, decided to opt with no rice and beans. Fresh, flavourful and simple. generous portions of fish. Service - friendly, fast and was able to provide us ample time to decide what to eat. Didn't feel rushed, rather inviting. ** there is a fresh self serve salsa station that includes sour cream, guacamole, salsas, hot sauces, onions, cilantro, pico de gallo, and so many other goodies!! Loved how it was self Serve so you can customize your own items the way you want. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area where we can choose to spend our hard-earned money and, just as importantly, our time, so unfortunately this first experience was disappointing. When we walked in, it was hot and humid and smelled like Fabuloso cleaner. I asked the host about happy hour and all she could tell us was that it ended at 6. We were seated, and several minutes passed before our server greeted us. We ordered drinks and asked for a water as well. We were ready to order our food, but first I asked her to confirm whether burritos were $12 that day, since their Instagram has advertised $12 burritos on Wednesdays as a daily special since June. She seemed unsure and said she would check. About 10 minutes later, she returned with our drinks and asked if we were ready to order, but never gave us an answer about the special. I had to ask again, and she then confirmed that the burritos were $12. We ordered our burritos along with a side of maduros. My husband had just gotten off the golf course and was very thirsty, but his water still hadn't arrived. Our server wasn't coming back around, so when the host walked by, he politely asked if she could please get our server. Unfortunately, she seemed to forget and went back to the host stand. A few minutes later, our food arrived, but we still had no water, silverware, or napkins. We waited a couple more minutes until we finally saw our server and had to ask for silverware and napkins so we could actually eat our food. She brought those over along with the water. We were already halfway through our meal when we saw her walking by again and had to remind her about the maduros. She said, "Oh yeah," checked on them, and finally brought them out. The food itself was okay, but the service was extremely inconsistent and inattentive. We shouldn't have to repeatedly track down our server for water, silverware, napkins, an answer about an advertised special, and a side dish we ordered. I really wanted to enjoy this place based on the reviews, but for a first visit, it unfortunately didn't leave us feeling like we would choose to come back, especially with so many other Mexican restaurants in the area competing for our business.

My only consistent complaint now is that I really with you could order your drinks at the same time and at the same touchpoint as ordering food. Having to wait in a line to order food and then wait again at the bar to get a bartenders attention to then wait again for a drink is a hassle and a bit annoying. The bartenders are also quite slow here we have noticed (both upstairs and down). We have waited for drinks longer than food on more than one occasion. So this leaves me alone holding our table while my husband waits for drinks to be made and often food gets delivered while that happening and starts to cool. Annoying right? But otherwise food is good. Drinks are interesting. Great rooftop. It's a decent and easy spot to grab a quick easy dinner I just wish they fix that issue.

They are delicious tacos and I have been a few times. I finally was able to take my husband for lunch and he loved it as well. Inside they have many tables as well as a bar. If you are looking for a alcoholic drink of any sort, you will need to order from the bar separately from your food. If you come here, one thing that must be ordered is their queso. Their queso is green Chile queso topped with guacamole, cotija cheese, cilantro and diablo sauce, served with tortilla chips. You can jazz it up and add chorizo but the regular version is just fine. This is probably one of the best queso's I have had. It is truly delicious. You do get more queso then chips, and I am not sure if they would bring you more chips. I also noticed this last time, they had a trio which was half orders of the green chile queso, guacamole, and your choice of salsa. This will need to go on my list. For food, they have a wide variety including tacos, fajitas, burritos, salads, bowls, and even breakfast tacos. I always get the same thing, really because their menu is so large it gets overwhelming for me. However, there are quite a few tacos I would like to try. I looked at their website and it is much easier to read, to be honest. But I go for the Trailer Park which is fried chicken, green chiles, lettuce, pico de gallo, mixed cheese with poblano sauce on a flour tortilla. It is absolutely delicious and very tasty. I prefer to get no pico as I do not like onions. I also love and it's probably my favorite, the Fried Avocado which is fried avocados, refried pinto beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, mixed cheese with poblano sauce on a corn tortilla. You can swap to a flour tortilla if you want. My husband ordered the The Bonfire Bowl with jerk chicken, it had cilantro lime rice, black beans, spinach, diced mango, pickled onions & jalapeños, pistachios, and avocado sauce. He loved it!!! It was a huge bowl as well so very filling. The only thing I was missing when I go, is taco sauces. Some of the tacos do come with a sauce, but I would love a variety of different sauces to try. You can substitute different sauces on the menu, but I am not sure of what they actually have. They also offer happy hour Monday through Friday at the bar and then weekend drink specials. I know we will be coming back here to try their happy hour and have more of their food. This is definitely a place you need to visit!

The Vibe: Located in a strip mall with shared parking, the restaurant itself is actually quite cute inside, with tablecloths on each table and a full-service bar near the entrance. That said, when we first walked in, there was an unpleasant, slightly mildew-like odor, which made us question the overall cleanliness. The restaurant was about ¼ full, which felt like a decent sign for a weekday evening. Service: Service was excellent from start to finish. We were seated quickly, given chips and salsa right away, and our server was attentive and efficient throughout the meal. What We Ordered: * Enchiladas Combination (cheese, beef, and chicken with red sauce, you can choose red or green) * Puntas de Filete in Salsa Verde * Sprite & Coke First Impressions: The food came out extremely fast--under 5 minutes, which made it feel more reheated than freshly prepared. Food Quality: Unfortunately, the food lacked flavor across the board. The chips and salsa were underwhelming--the salsa was very watery with little to no spice. The enchiladas were quite dry, lacking sauce, and topped with an overwhelming amount of cheese. My husband ordered the Puntas de Filete in Salsa Verde, hoping for something similar to chile verde, but it didn't come close. The dish lacked depth of flavor and mostly tasted like beef and raw onions. He also requested medium rare, but it came out closer to well-done. Even the refried beans had an unusual, overly garlicky taste that felt a bit off. Overall: While the service was great, the food unfortunately didn't meet expectations--especially for a place positioning itself as western-style Mexican. Average food, standout service. We were hoping to find a go-to spot reminiscent of California Mexican food, but this one missed the mark for us.
