I visited El Alacrán thanks to my best friend (an Orlando local), and she was so right, this place is great, and those prices you cannot beat. They offer a great variety of traditional Mexican dishes like quesabirria, sopes, quesadillas, tostadas, and more, but I already knew I was going straight for the tacos. They're sold individually, so it's perfect for trying a few. I ordered the asada, shrimp, carnitas, and pastor, all on corn tortillas, and every single one had no misses. And let's talk about the salsa bar... easily one of the best. The place itself is small and super casual with just a few tables, so keep that in mind if you're dining in, but I also noticed lots of people grabbing to go orders. We were in the area and I have been craving some good tacos. This was just what I needed. I had lengua, barbicoa and carnitas. All were delicious. The tortilla was the perfect thickness to not fall apart. Which is perfect since they pack it full of protein. The toppings bar is perfection as well. Loved all the salsas. Of course plenty of cilantro and onions and radishes to add as well. My boys had cheese quesadillas and the cheese pull was incredible. The only negative is my one son doesn't eat meat and he wanted a burrito with rice and beans and no meat. They wouldn't substitute the beans for meat. So he was disappointed but the he enjoyed the quesadilla. Cute little place. Tiny location. Very little parking and even less seating, But the tacos are as authentic as they get. I highly recommend this little spot. Only one other spot stands up to them and that is the taco truck at the Mexican consulate which I'm sorry but they are the best!! Now back to this restaurant's review... Every time I come, I try something different and the only thing that I didn't like was only because of the texture was the tripe. I was feeling adventurous. Let's just say I won't do that again. But everything else they had keeps me coming back over and over again. I usually do tacos one night a week, but after I tried this place for the first time I couldn't stop thinking about it and wanted to come back every night following up. This was my first visit here. As a big fan of tacos, I can be quite particular. The cabeza tacos were decent, but I've had better; they reminded me more of barbacoa. The tripa was good and crunchy. When we ordered the tripa, they asked if we wanted it regular or crunchy, and we chose regular. If we had chosen crunchy, it might have been too much. I appreciated how they slightly fried the tortillas for all the tacos. The huarache was large and very flavorful. The gordita was my least favorite, and the asada was too salty. Service was good and fast--they take your order and bring the food to your table. There's a good variety of drinks, including beers, sodas, and aguas frescas. Now this is what I would call a hidden gem in more than one way as they are doing it right one taco at a time! So we ordered a few different things and all of them were seriously scrumptious like you really can't go wrong with anything here! The Chile Relleno was perfect it had the right amount of cheese in it and you can tell it was freshly made making for one yummy dish with their rice and beans which were also super good too! The Al pastor quesadilla was yummy too as it reminded me of that homemade taste when you cook one on the stove top and it was just good even more so with their super yummy Al pastor inside. Now those tacos are some of the best ones I've had in years like oh sooo good as they make their own tortillas so they are super fresh and the meat was perfect both the asada and Al pastor were super flavorful and then the salsa that I put over the top was just ohhh sooo good the both of them the hot one then mixed with the avocado one then some cilantro and onions sprinkled on top of the tacos making for some incredible tacos like you really can't go wrong with that at all just soooo good! Overall they do it right here in more than one way this is by far some super legit Mexican food and I know that I'll be back here again soon as those tacos are seriously scrumptious along with everything else! read more

The food came ice cold, not even room temperature, and there was barely any beans in my pinto beans just runny sauce with no flavor. I have been coming to this place for years, it never disappoints! I always get the steak tacos on corn tortilla, they are so good. The tortillas here and hand made and the tacos are small $1.75 each which is a good deal. The real highlight of this place (in my opinion) is the steak tacos and gorditas. They are always my go to and what I always recommend. They have all types of salsas here, the least spicy is the green avocado salsa which is a fan favorite. Wooooow! What a tasty and inexpensive treat this place is. Authentic, fresh and fast! I overdid it with the al pastor Gordita at the end but the whole meal was delicious. I tried the al pastor, barbacoa and chicharron tacos as well as the ceviche tostada. I only wish the chicharron was crispy, even soft it was a nice experience. Service was attentive and kind. The Jamaica Agua Fresca is so refreshing and nicely flavored. Love the station to get condiments. The orange sauce is dangerously hot so be careful! Holy moly! This place is a gem of a taqueria. Purely authentic Mexican tacos with a nice condiment bar right by the cashier area. This restaurant is small and in a small rundown strip mall, but boy, is the food the real deal. The tacos themselves are made with freshly made cornmeal tortillas and are about the size of a small pancake. The fresh tortilla is then filled with the meat of your choice -- I personally had two chicken, two marinated pork (al pastor), and two carnitas (shredded pork). I enjoyed all three types of meat, but especially liked the al pastor and carnitas the most. I loaded each of the tacos with fresh onions, cilantro, and cabbage from the condiment bar and splashed a little bit of the mild and hot sauce on all six. Amazingly delicious and very affordable. Don't expect any chips and salsa, real taquerias do not provide this. Will definitely return! read more

It's simple and located in a worn out little plaza. Alacrán means scorpion in Spanish, and there's a few little scorpions around the place...not real ones just as décor!!! I'm always on the search for the freshest, tastiest and most authentic tacos. OMG! This place does deserve 5 stars. I ordered three very savory tacos to go and I ate them all before I arrived home. Small restaurant with delicious, authentic Mexican food. I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday with my husband. We ordered at the counter and took a seat. I had the buche taco, cabeza taco, and the chicharron taco. My husband had the chile relleno plate that came with rice and beans. My tacos were excellent. My favorite was the cabeza taco. Super tender and flavorful. Next time I'll get three tacos of just cabeza. My husband's chile relleno was excellent. They have a salsa and toppings bar with delicious salsas to top your tacos, onions, cilantro, radish slices, lime, etc. Service was friendly and they spoke English. My carnitas taco would not be ordered again. The pork was chopped not shredded. The pork has a porky flavor that I'm not real keen on.Hard to define really. Meat was cooked right, tender with perfect seasoning, and all the chewy ligaments were cut off the meat so it was all excellent. Got 8 plates for guys at the jobsite, and everybody was a fan. The area of Ocoee/Winter Garden is a treasure trove of small mom and pop eateries and so many of them are authentic little taco places. Being the authentic taco enthusiast that I am, every time I'm in the area I make sure to try a new one. Yesterday I made it over to Taqueria El Alacran, conveniently located right next to the courthouse just off Story road, and it was so good! The service was really great. The woman at the counter had a ready smile and after I ordered my food at the counter she brought it over to me. I tried the cabeza (head), lengua (tongue) and classic al pastor tacos. I really loved the tortillas, which were really thick and fresh. The tacos come plain and you can dress them up at a bar that has a few sauces, radishes, cilantro and onions and cabbage. I loved that they had radishes cause those are one of my favorite taco toppings. I tried the green sauce and despite the fact that it had no spiciness to it whatsoever, it was amazing! super fresh and delicious. I put some on every bite. Being a huge lengua taco fan, I was a bit disappointed by it. It could have had more flavor. However, the al pastor taco was realllllly good and I really enjoyed the cabeza. The meat on the cabeza taco was kinda like shredded chicken but it was cooked in this red thin sauce that was really delicious. I was definitely pleased with my decision to try it. Great value for the tacos and superb herb bar!! This little hole-in-the-wall Mexican taqueria is just a short drive outside of downtown Winter Garden and offers authentic Mexican fare. Alacran's tacos are on average $1.50 and very hearty. A nice portion of seasoned protein is layered on top of a thick (and homemade I suspect) tortilla. I tried the el pastor, chicken, pork stomach, and beef tongue. My favorites were the el pastor (pork) and chicken. Both were well seasoned and tender. The beef tongue was crispy and tough amd not my favorite. I also sampled the beans and rice for $2 and they were good. The beans were thinner than your typical mexican refried beans. My favorite part of this restaurant was the herb topping bar. It allows for self service of their chopped cilantro, radishes, onions, and sauces. Everything was fresh!
