We recently moved to the area and have been on the hunt for our new go-to local taco place. A staple in our house. This was the third place we tried and I think we found our spot. Our server Gigi could not have been nicer. Upon finding out we were new tot he area she welcomed us and altered the manager who came by to also welcome us and gifted us an order of guac on the house which was so nice of them. We ordered tacos and a burrito, 2 margs, and a tres leche (my favorite) I have a very specific taco that I often order that was not on the menu but they allowed me to customize one that was to get it and it was delicious. No issues whatsoever. I do want to note that that evening I was a bit sick - but before you take that and run with it you need context. I have a stomach condition which can sometime act up even when I am being cautious (hence the specific taco order) For the record my husband was fine and had no issues and he ate one of my three tacos so I truly believe this was just bad luck for me and my own very specific ailments. It will not stop us from returning - I'll just come prepared with medication. As a last and very sweet note, they actually comped our entire meal as a welcome to the area. How sweet is that? It was so unexpected and so kind. We left a large tip for the server and thanked the manager in person. We'll absolutely be back and we have finally found our new neighborhood spot read more

This has been my local Ocoee staple. I get the vegetarian fajitas which have enough food for a small family... OK maybe two people or some leftovers. It comes out a variety of items and the restaurant couldn't be cuter with traditional vibes. Do they have specials on Tuesdays and are definitely worth the visit! read more

We checked out El Sombrero while in the area. We went around late afternoon and were quickly greeted and seated. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The space was nicely decorated, clean, and had a cool bar area as well. We decided to share a combination platter that came with a taco, enchilada, and chicken quesadilla. We also ordered an additional crunchy taco and a side of rice and beans. We opted for ground beef in the tacos and pulled beef in the enchiladas. Our server brought chips and yummy salsa that we enjoyed while waiting for our meal. We started with the tacos first. The shell was great and tasted freshly made with a good crunch. The ground beef was well cooked and had good texture, but a bit under seasoned for my personal preference. The enchilada was good; the sauce was tasty and the pulled beef was tender with good flavor. The quesadilla was also good, great sear on the tortilla and nicely flavored chicken. I could always go for a bit more cheese, but I liked it wasn't too greasy. The rice and beans were both tasty. We enjoyed the meal and were both very full and happy! I'd definitely return to this spot! It's a solid casual Mexican place and the menu has a lot of great choices to try. read more

I enjoyed the whimsical decor in this place. It has plenty of seating throughout. The restaurant is located in a strip mall next door to Subway. The shopping plaza is directly across from Esporta Fitness. The service I received was prompt and the waitress was helpful. I asked her for her favorite dish on the menu and she mentioned the grilled fish tacos. That was the one that I was eyeing anyway, so I went with it. It was a bit fishy smelling when it was first brought out but I somewhat expected that since it was fish. I love seafood so thankfully that doesn't bother me. The tacos were very tasty. I had ordered lime, sour cream, extra cilantro and chopped onions to top it off with. It really didn't need it but the toppings made it even better. Lots of different flavor and texture going on. It was my first time here, prices were reasonable and portion sizes were generous. I would definitely come back to try more. read more

Me and my family would come here every weekend but we're never returning again!!! Bad experience our waiter acted lazy and was just unprofessional and since when did they start doing tips included I understand a fancy restaurant but a Mexican grill charging tips included like no we got 8 tacos and nachos some aguas frescas and they charged us a 10.57$ tip and the waiter was lazy like we should be able to tip what we want based on our experience that lady did not deserve 10 dollars in my opinion never coming back here again mind you some of the workers there knew us because of the reason we'd go mainly every weekend and they know we'd always tip them 3-8 dollars based on our experience with them and the only thing we get when we go is tacos and nachos with some aguas frescas and like I said I understand when fancy restaurants do tips included but cmon a Mexican grill in a neighborhood charging tips is just wrong in my opinion in places like those people should choose what they want to leave as a tip and also our tab would never go above 62$ and our tab today was 56$ with 3 dollars for taxes so that's like 60$ but today it was higher then 70$ because of the fact they charged us tip included read more

As soon as we walked in the door the hostess greeted us with a smile and took us right to our table. The service was prompt! Right behind him our server came with tortilla chips and salsa ( was so good!) I ordered the Vallarta fajitas, guac, and a ceviche tostada and everything was tasty. We go here sometimes on Taco Tuesday. I've never eaten anything other than their tacos, but they're quite good. Nice authentic, street-style tacos that are packed with flavorful meat at a good price. My husband regularly eats here for work lunches and has raved about it! He brought home take out for my birthday and it was FABULOUS! I can't wait to eat in the actual restaurant! I had the enchiladas rancheros and they were delicious, their carnitas have some heat to them and I loved that. It is So nice to have a new Mexican restaurant in the area that isn't bland or ridiculously overpriced. The location of the area may be standoffish but I promise you once you go inside you will be pleased! I came inside and loved the decor, it reminded me as if I was in someone's home. The server immediately dropped chips and salsa. It was delicious and was devoured quickly, before a gentleman asked if I wanted more. Of course I wanted more. I ordered the chrizo dip as appetizer. If you love queso and chrizo, this one is so out of this world you will not be disappointed. I ordered the sangria, they had a happy hour 2 for one. I tried both the red and white, either would be crowd pleasers. For the main course I ordered the alambres. She asked if I wanted the lunch portion and said yes. It was very delicious and you could taste the freshness of the Cory tortilla. I could tell they made them here because of the size and the flavor of the masa coming through. What killed me (and completed changed my order) was the server for not know the difference between machaca (seasoned shredded beef) and carnitas (fried pork). Then I pointed to it at the menu, she still didn't know the difference. She was nice. Ambiance: this place has everything inside including the drunk guy at the bar singing at the top of his lungs to every mariachi love song. Went there yesterday for Mother's Day lunch, everything was going okay until it was time to check out. We informed our server that were were using Groupon. Our server wasn't too familiar how Groupons so he asked. This woman (Amie or Amy) started speaking to him in Spanish and seemed angry. We've never had any issues before only when she's there. She once told our waitress to tell we have to pay full price. Why are they participating in Groupons if she won't honor it? Why is it that she always have a problem with us using it? It wasn't free, we bought them. I guess Azteca will be our new place to go, we won't be setting foot in that establishment after yesterday! Disappointed customer. read more

We chose to try this place because it's so close to home and we love Mexican cuisine. We both had house margaritas which were great! Not too sweet and just enough tequila to give it a bit of a bite. Chips and salsa were delicious. We also ordered the queso dip and chorizo dip to try. Both were delicious and would definitely order again. I ordered the Burrito Macho with extra beans instead of meat and again, delicious. Would order that again in a heartbeat. My better half ordered 4 different tacos for his meal and enjoyed them all. We also ordered a side dish of charro beans... the portion was huge but it was a little weird with slices of hot dogs in them. Not sure if this is normal, but it was odd. We prefer the canned charros without hot dog slices. Maybe chorizo instead? That's the only reason I deducted a star. Anyways... The atmosphere is great. The restaurant is much larger inside than it looks from the street and the decor is friendly. Our server, Daphne, was top notch. She let us know about the specials (including happy hour) and checked in on us just enough; not too much and not too little. She was friendly and provided great service. We will be back! This place is legit and the food tastes as good as it's presented. Our kids shared the grilled chicken strips meal which comes with fries. To my surprise & delight they were real chicken strips, not frozen, breaded, bagged etc. the fries taste like actual potatoes and are not salted. Great ketchup too. I had the carne asada fries, OMG- my new comfort food meal. The steak is cooked to perfection and tasty. It's served with cheese, pick & sour cream. My husband had the cooker chimichanga and the ceviche tostada - he raves about both. In all, highly recommend and we will be back. Rant: we just left el sombrero and tried to use our Groupon which we have used 4 separate times before without an issue. They said they couldn't use it because we had happy hour drinks (2 drinks. A total of $4 savings) we asked for the manager to come talk to us 4 times. She finally came over after standing at the bar talking for 7 minutes (with an attitude). She literally didn't make eye contact and rolled her eyes at me. Told me to take a picture of the Groupon details (which didn't say anything about happy hour) and just go home and relax and read it later. This is the point where I snapped. I asked for the bill with or without Groupon And I just wanted to leave. I had to ask for the bill 6 times and she called me crazy. I literally said "please just go away and get me my bill I don't want to see you " because she was being so rude. Other employees had to come and literally pull her away from our table because she was shouting at us and calling me crazy. This is the most absurd situation I've ever been in.
