My fiancé and I had seen this place about a year ago maybe and got very intrigued because of breaking bad *iykyk* We looked it up and it sounded really interested and we vowed to try it in the future. Well as of recently we both have seen it shared a bit and decided to try it out. We both got the pan con chicharron sandwich . I ordered plantains as a side and he had fries - it was a $4 add on for a side which you save $2.50 each by adding it to the sandwich. The size of the sides are probably both worth the $6.50 on their own. The fries were your basic fries - probably frozen but good. The plain twins were fried nicely and had good flavor - I would have loved a dipping sauce with them. Now since the place is known for their chicken I wanted to try something with chicken. Well they had empanadas (not sure if this is always on the menu) and you could get 3 for $12 with a sauce. We did each of the 3 flavors they had available: Huachana Empanada (this is the house made Salchicha which is a Peruvian sausage w/ eggs), ham & cheese , and the chicken . The sauce I picked to go with them was their signature sauce - the aji pollo. The sauce I have never tasted anything like it - definitely interesting. The chicken empanada was very plain. The chicken definitely did have a unique flavor but was a little dry in the empanada - it was apparently cooked with the same sauce. The ham and cheese was my favorite - I loved the cooper sharp with the ham. The sausage also had a great spice! As for the sandwich the chicharron was cooked so well paired with the sweet potato and pickled onions it gave it a nice balance of sweet and salty as well as different textured bites. I will say overall that most of the items on the menu were a tad dry and could use a sauce or something - however overall the flavor was great. Everything came to $40 which wasn't bad. The restaurant was super clean inside, they had a few tables but we got takeout. It also looked like they served coffee and a few other things. Their online order menu definitely has more items listed than the regular menu. I definitely do want to go back and try the rotisserie chicken on its own with some other sides! Don Hector does an amazing job with chicken, the spices worked really well. The thighs, and breast were cooked perfectly. The Don Hector salad was fresh and balanced with the chicken. The sides however were a little disappointing. I really did like the Arroz Chaufa (stir fried rice) but i think they over-seasoned it. Was a just a little salty to my taste. The Pasta a La Huancaina was disappointing unfortunately. The macaroni noodles were super bland and the "cheese" sauce was a weird crumble/dry texture. I really want this restaurant to succeed but they would need tiny improvements here and there before they are golden. read more

Details: to me it's all about the chicken, fried yucca, and sauces. The chicken was deeply marinated, well seasoned, and expertly cooked -- muy sabroso! The yucca was fresh, hot, beautifully crunchy on the outside and creamy inside, and not greasy. The sauces were a perfect complement. The shop is bright and clean, and service was polite and professional. We were thrilled to hear about Don Hector | Peruvian Rotisserie. We usually get our Peruvian chicken from the city. We were very excited to hear of a new establishment that was much closer. We tried the half chicken meal the main character: Pollo a la Brasa (rotisserie chicken) we chose the arroz chaufa, the plantains along with an extra side of veggies. The chicken was a little underwhelming, not as juicy as I'd hope but had good flavor that wasn't too overpowering. It was a bit dry however I did come at 7:30 so later in the evening so that could have been part of the reason. The portions were reasonable compared to the price. I'll add a menu but it was about $17. My teenager enjoyed the Caesar salad that had chicken added to it as well. This was also a takeout only establishment as there were no tables. Ate at Don Hector and was a delicious experience for a very good value. I got the Quarter Chicken Combo which got you two sides with your meal. I'm a big eater and the quarter combo was just the right size to satisfy my hunger. The sauce was a milk and mustard based sauce with additional herbs and spices that complimented the chicken, which the rotisserie was excellent as well; moist, flavorful, and just the right portion for a single meal. In fact, the two sides I got (mash potato and mac and cheese) were very generous amount for a combo meal. I was struggling to finish my sides which were hot a fresh! Service was excellent as I was dinning in and eating close to closing time, however the owner said take my time and don't worry about it. He was friendly when I came in and provided me good recommendations for my meal. Clean environment and I enjoyed eating my meal there. If there's only one gig is the packaging. Excellent if your doing a take out, but when dining in, the tight packaging get in the way of eating. I'd love to see they simply serve on open plate for in house diners. Great service, easy ordering and the place is super clean. Food is average. I was really looking forward to the chicken but in my opinion it's no better then any supermarket rotisserie chickens. It was very dry And it was lacking any charcoal flavor. The sides were ok. The yucca fries were the best thing ordered. I thought all the sauces were bland but I guess Peruvian food can be that way. Absolutely delicious, I'm kinda mad at myself for only getting the quarter chicken. I could have eaten a whole. The sides are quite generous and delicious. The service was friendly and the location is clean. It's in a shopping mall, so there is plenty of parking. If you are going to Peace Valley for a picnic, I highly recommend stopping here first for the food. You'll get a great deal, perfect portions and lovely service.
