In a trip from Seattle to Portland, passing through Chehalis is a requirement and Black Sheep was on my radar for some quality creamery goodness. I was not disappointed. This shop is one part yarn store, one part cafe, and one part creamery. All parts awesome. Where else can you grab a skein of worsted weight, a macaron, and a wedge of sheep cheddar in one go? Nowhere. So go here and do all those things are more :-)

How disappointing to walk in and find a nearly bare cheese case. Just a sheep milk herb spread and a cow's milk feta. I highly recommend calling first to see what is available if you traveled from far away as I did. It's mostly a yarn shop...a lovely yarn shop, yes, but hardly a cheese shop.

The women didn't hear her and went on about how she can't understand her, because she was mumbling so badly. My daughter is super shy. I should have walked away, because she was so snippety to my daughter, but went ahead and bought their overpriced cheese anyway. When I got home, I ate their cheddar cheese and there was something on it that tasted spicy and burned my lips - it actually made my lips chapped over the next week. I sent a polite email to them to give feedback and asked them what was on the cheddar. I was concerned it was some sort of chemical. It has been over 10 days and they haven't responded. I guess they don't care about their customers. I don't recommend doing business with them.

I bought cheese from Jacobs Creamery at the Woodstock farmers' market a few months ago and was…read moredisappointed to find it was frozen when I got home. It was especially disappointing because I literally asked them to recommend a creamy cheese to have with the bagels I had just bought. Why would I want frozen cheese to put on fresh bagels? Also, there is no reason to freeze fine cheese! The whole point of spending money on expensive local cheese is to get something fresh...freezing it completely defeats the purpose and basically ruins the cheese. I tried messaging them on Facebook months ago to address the issue privately, can see that they saw my messages but received no response. Lesson: Don't buy cheese here unless you want weird frozen cheese!

I found that I do not like goat cheese so the review is suspect. Mostly I wanted to tell a story…read moreabout their cheese. I bought some to try when my daughter was about 1 years old. I took a taste while she was in her high chair eating. The blast of goatiness was way too much for me so I let her have a go. I put a little piece on her tray. She took a bite, shvered violently and dropped the rest on her tray. She slid it to the edge of the tray, thought for a second and then threw it to the floor. The rest went in the garbage, but hey if you like that goat taste you can get it here.

Both of us enjoy a good sandwich and this place has those in spades. I ordered the DRDK (half) which comes with turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, mayo, tomatoes, and avacado spread on toasted sourdough. The taco soup was super fresh and the ingredients were super choice! Nice dining room environment overall (what's to expect from a deli downtown) over all 5/5 would definitely come back and most definitely will recommend to family and friends.
