This place is better than Blue Asia Cafe. The owners at dolphin bay are pretty nice. Order the shaved ice! read more

Those home-made dishes make you thinking about your childhood or visit to Taiwan in the old time. The drink of Dolphin Special is the best! We also like the beef stew noodle soup very much. We noticed that the quality and the taste of the food varied after dining out there a few times. I wonder if different chefs are in charge of food in different dates of a week. read more

Late afternoon snack- main purpose to visit Dolphin Bay was to try their Lavender Milk Tea! Unfortunately it was sold out, Passion fruit Green Tea was also sold out! The two top selling items was unavailable. Accountability (thumbs down) Wasn't hungry... came in for snacks. Ordered a few items from the appetizers menu. Disappointing-popcorn chicken wasn't fresh, definitely fried twice, wasn't crispy and the chicken was extremely dry. It was quoted white meat! The best popcorn chicken by far will be ViVi bubble tea place in QUINCY. It's a long wait but worth it. An $8 steam bun with beef & scallion topped with Dolphin Bay sauce (hoisin sauce) steam bun is so simple just steam it fresh!!! This dish came out last and the bun was not fresh, cold and chewy. Shouldn't call this dish beef & scallion when there's no scallion! Took a bite and wanted to send it back, but it was $8 bucks I forced myself to eat it. The only tasty find was sweet potato fries with a dash of sugar. Yep!!! I thought it was salt but once I taste it....quite yummy. I'm not sure if I want to return and try their Taiwanese dishes such as their rice and noodles. A family run neighborhood restaurant but the quality is not there. We ordered our drinks to go-ordered Lavender Milk Tea- sold out, Passion Fruit Green Tea- Sold Out! Reluctantly changed it to Brown Sugar Milk Tea and Peach Green Tea. Service really sucks, the man behind the bar finished out drinks, but didn't make it to our table. He stopped to chit chat with friends/family at a table. I was standing there by his side to hand over my drinks. Didn't want to wait a minute longer with this type of family run restaurant. Verdict- Tea was water down! I don't think I will revisit this place to try their Taiwanese food nor drinks. read more

Came here twice last week, once with a coworker for dine in and another for takeout. Honestly never bothered to check it out bc the dolphin logo just kinda put me and gf off lol but decided to give it a shot and realized I've been missing out all these years as I live in the neighborhood. In my opinion, I think this is a better bang for your buck when it comes to taiwanese food compared to jojo taipei diagonally across the street. The portions are perfect and you don't fee gross and extra full, unless you eat like three meals in one setting like I did the second time I ordered for takeout. I've tried the: Popcorn chicken - nice and chewy and fried just enough Wonton soup - comes with veggies and plenty of soup for a side order Salt and pepper pork on rice - not heavily fried and the meat was very tender Oyster omelette- flavored really well and has great texture Taiwanese sausage fried rice - by far my favorite as it has plenty of sausage and seasoned to perfection Milk tea with boba - pretty average but it gets the job done if you are craving something other than water to down your food This place provides great comfort food and you really can't beat the prices. read more

I decided to try Dolphin Bay after a busy day of exploring campuses with my boyfriend. He ordered fried fish over rice, and the Dragon Bay boba tea. I ordered the beef noodles and Sea Salt Creme with green tea and boba. I asked the waiter to make my beef noodles "medium" spicy. However, when I received my order it made me question whether I ordered "hot" instead. I had to dilute the soup with a cup of water before I could begin eating. The beef, veggies, and noodles were delicious though! On the side, I also ordered boiled veggies taiwanese style and it was very good. Overall, I would come back for the bubble tea and maybe not order the beef noodles again. read more

I am now not only a regular but a frequent flier of Dolphin Bay! Since it's opening, their food has maintained its quality and Dolphin Bay never disappoints! Very authentic Taiwanese food! Friendly Professional Service~ I love their They also have seasonal dishes usually served only on traditional Chinese holidays, such as sticky rice for dragon boat festival. They also have specials for Chinese New Year! These special seasonal dishes are so popular and limited so they are not listed in their official menu, remember to inquire the servers about them from time to time! All and all, this is the only place I go when I am craving for Taiwanese flavor, and I am never tired of it! Thank you Dolphin Bay! 謝謝海豚灣! read more

Small restaurant but super attentive staff. To start off, their decor is great. The counter is in the shape of a ship/boat with seagull paintings and statues. I ordered the popcorn chicken and was recommended to try the Braised Beef Noodle Soup which was good. The soup was flavorful and the meat was great. When you see a dish that contains meat, you expect a fair amount, about 6 medium sized slices. I got 2-4 small bits of meat that you could barely notice was there. The bok choy was also sliced up into smaller pieces--which I can appreciate because it made it easier to eat, but it seemed as though the portions were skimped. I had originally been debating between the Braised Beef Noodle Soup and the Chili Wonton Noodles. My friend ordered the chili wonton noodles and I tasted them and they were nothing what I expected. When I thought chili wonton noodles, I thought of chili oil covered wontons. This wasnt the chili oil I was expecting and wasn't bad in taste, it just wasn't what I was expecting. Although the food wasn't what I expected, it still tasted really good! read more

**Take Out Review*** They have a minimum of $10 for credit cards. I've come here twice for takeout only to get the Spicy Wontons ($7). They are soooo good! The wontons are soft and are homemade. The bathroom is next to the kitchen, so when I went to use the bathroom, I saw a lady making the wontons by hand. The sauce that it's in is slightly spicy and sweet and so aromatic. Definitely need to get them when you come here! The 5 stars is literally just for the spicy wontons themselves! **Update** I dined in once and finally tried out their bubble tea. Everything my friends and I got were very good. The milk tea is even better! (I get my tea without boba so I don't know how good the boba itself is). My favorite teas so far are the Honeydew Milk Tea and Jasmine Green Tea! read more

Only got the milk bubble tea. No tapioca bubbles (not a fan). I generally judge boba tea places by their milk tea and this place wasn't that good, very watery. Would recommend chatime or Kung fu tea over this place. They also serve food, which looked ok. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

I went here for dinner with a couple of friends. Waiters are super friendly and attentive. I've tried a couple of rice plates (can't name at the top of my head) but they all have been tasty. I loved the blend of flavors resulting from the pickled veggies, steamed egg, and meat. Yum! Spicy wontons are great as well. Also, I've tried the avocado milk and taro milk. Enjoyed the taro milk. I wouldn't consider the food gourmet--it's more like super good comfort food. read more

I was having high expectations for here, but I am really disappointed. First of all, I had noodle soup pretty much taste like boiled water. I have to customize my soup by myself to adding salt, vinegar and soy sauce. Two stars is for the price and services, their really friendly but not exceed my expectations. I won't be back, Boston really need some good food and really authentic Asian foods. Ps: Squad balls taste good read more

So good! And excellent service. Really enjoyed the: -salt and pepper pork chop rice (comes with cabbage) very delicious! -chili wontons - tasty as well -taro bubble tea. Seems to be from actual taro rather than powder which is a nice touch Can't wait to try other dishes as well!! read more

So.... as I shift in my chair to get comfortable for this awesome review coming up.... 1. Service is amazing. I've been twice in a week and am super happy with the service. Attentive, happy, fast, all around five stars. 2. Food is three things - three GREAT things: DELICIOUS, CHEAP AND FAST! I've had 4 different things there the last two times and they have all been great. Beef noodle soup extra spicey - truly a pleasure to eat this here. Deep fried fish rice plate - pretty good, loved the sides and presentation. Vegetables - reminded me exactly of Taiwan and how freshly prepared veggies can be there. Sweet potato fries - cos I can't resist fries, these were lightly sprinkled with sugar of some sort and also fresh and piping hot - just the way I like them! 3. Drinks - really good and same price as everywhere else. Also - FAST!!!! I say FAST a lot for this restaurant because when we went, it was pretty packed and I assumed that it would take them a while to get everything to us which was fine but! Boy was I surprised. The orders just kept on coming out one at a time. I am never going to Blue Asia Cafe again!!!!!!! I like Dolphin Bay - SO MUCH MORE! read more

I'm upping my review to 5 stars because this place is amazing. The service is so nice and efficient. We had to wait 10 minutes for a table outside, and the hostess brought us water. I also can't get over how delicious the beef stew noodle soup is. I think about it all day everyday. read more

Best Taiwanese food in town! The Rice with Jalapeño Gravy is my go-to. I don't like food that is too spicy, so I always ask the server to tell the kitchen to put in less jalapeño slices and they are always happy to accommodate! The drinks here are definitely worth a try as well! My favorites are the brown sugar milk tea and the taro milk. The brown sugar is very fragrant and not overly sweet and the taro milk is blended with chunks of fresh taro. They also have a sign that says boba is free from 12-4 on Mondays-Thursdays! read more

Like everyone else says the food is very good and the prices are reasonable. It's great if you are in the area and want something simple and good, nothing too fancy; and want to feel nice and full at the end of your meal. The staff is super kind and attentive too, offering us water when we were waiting outside for a table. Get the Watermelon Milk! It's better than any bubble tea you've ever had. I just have one request for the owners though: pink dolphins. :) read more

I love coming here and often find myself wanting to come here all the time. The 'snow/slush' smoothie is the best consistency for my tastes. I have had almost everything on the menu and have not been disappointed. My favorite would probably be the beef with jalapeno gravy over rice. Definitely recommend stopping by. read more

This is my go to restaurant for Taiwanese food. I feel like it's cleaner and not as greasy version compared to the chinatown restaurants. It's cozy and the wait staff are fast and friendly. read more

I went with a group of 9 friends and we pretty much ordered everything on the menu. Everything was superb. Some dishes excelled compared to others, but for the most part we enjoyed each dish we ordered. Outstanding dishes: - Popcorn Chicken - Pork and Vegetable Noodle Soup - Spicy Wonton Drinks: - Royal Milk Tea. My friend got the regular milk tea and the Royal milk tea really does taste better! Why it's called royal I don't know...perhaps the peasants drank the regular while the bougies drank the good stuff. Dessert: Ordered one shaved ice for our party and it was more than enough. Ambiance: Cute and colorful decorations. Pictures of dolphins everywhere. Music even sounded like something straight out of SeaWorld. Dolphin Bay differentiates itself from other Taiwanese restaurants because it genuinely tastes home cooked. It's so authentic that we caught a glance of a tiny little grandma hunched over in the kitchen sprinkling her tender love and care over every dish. read more

I visited Boston for the second time in my life this past weekend. The first time I went Yelp wasn't really a thing yet and this time I was really surprised how not-Yelpy Boston is. Compared to other large cities there just weren't many restaurants with both high reviews and lots of ratings so choosing places to eat just wasn't as easy as I was used to. Dolphin Bay was one of the few places that had lots of reviews (for Boston at least) and was very highly rated. Naturally, I had to give it a try. I can't speak to the authenticity of the Taiwanese food because I'm white and American but I can say that it tasted authentic. The restaurant was also full of Asian customers which I always view as a good sign of authenticity for an Asian restaurant. We shared popcorn chicken, spicy wontons, beef noodle soup, and some sort of egg pancake. My main complaint was lack of spice...the popcorn chicken we ordered with medium spice and could barely taste anything. The spicy wontons were also not very spicy. So maybe order one level of spice higher than you normally would. Other than that I really enjoyed the food, especially the pancake. My goal was to order a bubble milk tea to go but unfortunately I overate and just couldn't do it but they sure looked delicious. I would come back and recommend stopping by if you're in Boston. read more

If you are looking for some great Taiwanese food, some wonderful service, with some amazing bubble tea. This is the place. The service always upbeat and delightful. The food makes me miss home. I love dolphin bay because their food reminds me of home and it is reasonably priced. I decided to come back today and left feeling way better than I did last time. Here's an updated review on my experience. When I first started coming here, I always saw the owners and they were accommodating and always remembered us. As I started to see them less, the quality slowly started to decrease which is probably the reason for my last review. However, I was lucky to be graced by one of their presence's again and lo and behold, everything was back to the way it had been. Upon arrival, she greeted me and apologized for my last experience. She gave us free popcorn chicken and the servers ensured that we enjoyed our food. Thank you so much! This time, I ordered the jalapeno gravy noodles and it tasted pretty good. I might even order my old favorite meal (pan fried udon) when I go back again. My boyfriend got the beef noodle soup and liked it. We ordered the passionfruit green tea and the peach black tea. Both were perfectly sweetened and had a great taste. I'm so glad the owners are back to check up on the place! It really does make a difference and I can definitely tell things are better. And, they've updated their menu since I last came here and it seems to have a lot of new additions. Thank you for the great service! It might just become my go-to once again. read more

This restaurant was great, being from taiwan they had a lot of classic homey dishes like the beef noodle soup or the oyster omelette! If you don't eat pork, be really vigilant. They add a scoop of pork crumbles to almost everything. We said to our waitress many times that we didn't eat pork; she fully understood and communicated to the kitchen. But: when I got my entree, there was a little sprinkle of pork on something. I sent it back, she apologized, and gave me a new dish. There were a few tiny crumbles of pork in that too, which I just picked out. If the overall food had been better, this might have bothered me less. But in terms of what we ordered, it was pretty meh. We ordered greens that were very tasty. And the thing I liked best was the "dark plum" slushee, which had a tart, slightly smoky, deliciously sweet taste. That was super delicious. I'd love to have that again. We also ordered shaved ice with strawberries, red beans, condensed milk, and ice cream. Pretty tasty and fun but not a "must have it again SOON" experience. Service was quite friendly but sparse-- no one checks on you once they drop off the food. We had to get up and walk over to the counter for water, soy sauce, etc. We asked for soy sauce and they gave us some other sauce. So then we had to get up again. I think if you love Taiwanese food and can eat more of the menu than we could, this wd surely offer a better experience. But I did try a few highly rated items and just didn't find much to rave about. Maybe we were just not the right customers. read more

Taro Milk is worth the trip. Taro is my favorite, but the fresh taro they use blew the others away. Waitstaff was awesome--she fielded all my questions and issued excellent recommendations effortlessly. The stir-fried udon with chicken was flavorful and toothsome. Exactly what I wanted. As a Floridian, the decor is kind of laughable, but endearing--especially when it's single digits outside. They've just got a happy, light atmosphere. read more
