I had to travel to Myrtle Beach on an emergency because my son was in the hospital. He works and lives in Hilton Head and I had to find a way to get him back there. Airlines was too expensive. Bus ride was way too long plus only leaves at a certain time and he would not be out on time. Uber was also expensive and no train stations in Myrtle Beach. I Googled car rentals and Thrifty/Dollar had the highest rating. I was skeptical because of a bad incident in Florida but was desperate. I spoke with a wonderful woman named Marion. I told her my dilemma and asked if they had anything available that I could take to Hilton Head. Not only did she find something for me that was much more affordable than an Uber, but it was a very nice and comfortable SUV that my son could travel in comfort as I drove the 4 hours to get there. Unfortunately my son had to stay an extra day in the hospital so the staff arranged it so that I could have an extra day with the car and I got my son to Hilton Head with time to return the car to the airport there. The cost was the same for 2 days as it would have been for an Uber drive, plus we traveled in comfort and were able to make stops and take our time for my son's sake. Thank You Marion for all your help. Your funny and witting disposition got me through a difficult time. And thanks also to the very nice gentleman who helped me the next day when it turned out I needed an extra day with the vehicle. You were all a God send. read more

Booked Dollar at Myrtle Beach Airport, as they were the lowest rate of all rental agencies at the time. I originally booked 'Manager's Choice', figuring I would get whatever they left, but once I got out of the airport into the sunny SC weather, I asked if it was possible to upgrade. The young girl checked for me, and came back with the keys to a Jeep Rubicon with the Sky Power Top, and with just over 10k miles on it! The insurance verification process was a bit tedious but the customer service way overshadowed that issue. A few days in, I decided to add a couple of days to my trip and I wish I could say getting through to them was a breeze, but I cannot. I spoke to no less than 4 people before I could be put in touch with the counter at MB airport, but once on the line with them, adding 2 more days was a cinch. The young guy was pleasant and very accomodating. The return of the vehicle was flawless and without issue. I would definitely use them again. read more

yes, was so very helpful numerous times I returned several times due to I was renting before buying and wanted to get a feel for the cars. There was one guy who was in the outside part and he disciplined me after the fourth turn even though that was the first time he waiting on me that we're not allowed to do that and yelled at me, but I actually came back because I left my garage door opener in the previous car and I didn't like the Pathfinder so I figured since I'm might as well turn it in, but he was very annoyed with me on that but overall good experience I wish they would find my car garage door opener.But Maryann was awesome felt like I made a friend read more

A wonderful experience!! We started our day in Boston. To make a long story short, our 8:45 AM flight was delayed until 9:30 PM (guess which airline?!). I kept in touch with Dollar in Myrtle Beach. Each time our flight was further delayed, I called and was assured by the person on duty that she would wait for us after closing. I believe her name was Lisa, and she could not have been more helpful. She waited until after closing at midnight, and had our requested car waiting for us, practically new, clean as could could be and filled with gas!! My experience with Dollar Car Rental was a positive one. The counter clerk was very friendly and helpful. The staff in rental lot was very helpful also. I got to rent a great vehicle and pricing was not bad either. I have rented from Dollar in the past and had a good experience so I rented again with them. The agent (I believe her name was Amanda) was absolutely fantastic. She went above and beyond to help us with the last minute reservation. Very personable and professional. We had reserved a managers special (car of their choice) to save money, and it turned out to be a 4 door pickup truck for the four of us. My wife called a day earlier and they reserved a truck with a locking cover to keep our golf clubs safe. Vehicle was great Counter help friendly and efficient. I accidentally booked our reservation for the wrong date. They were very accommodating and helped update my booking. Our return flight was impacted by the Spirit closure, and with 1 easy phone call we modified our reservation over the phone. This location is great to deal with. Chris and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. We rent vehicles about 6 times per year. If they had had a large SUV, we would have rented from them this weekend. My only complaint is that they charge for a spouse as an additional driver. Avis/Budget do not charge extra. I was really pleased when I went to pick up my vehicle. I lucked out and got to the desk before other travelers got there. They put me in a 2026 Altima which was perfect for my family of four. It was very clean inside and out and there was enough room for us and our luggage. The drop off process was very easy as well. I would definitely recommend using this company! read more

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. Rented as a package through Spirit. SURPRISE! there are additional fees when you pick your car up. What are you going to do now, you flew here from MI and need a car (which you already paid for). Scam company and terrible employees. Look at me when you're talking to me! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I originally wanted a standard sedan but when I arrived they upgraded the car and I got a newer model Chrysler 300 that was fully loaded. Anytime I had a question or if I needed to extend due to a family emergency the staff was very opened to working with me. read more

I booked on line and when i got to the airport i went right to Dollar and was helped right away. I got an upgrade at no extra charge. I couldn't believe it. The service was great!
