I was utterly disgusted. Someone had to have been chewing on a chicken bone, thrown it into a cup, left the cup on the counter, and then someone--possibly the same person--picked up a random cup and immediately filled it with an ICEE. The thought of that happening was honestly nauseating. The manager did reimburse us for the skates and the ICEE, which we really appreciated. However, that doesn't change how disgusting it was. I honestly thought it was a chunk of ice that wouldn't break down until I opened the top. Just nasty.

It is being held November 23-December 30 from 5:30-9:30 except on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Unfortunately, there was a dreadful crawl, one hour to be exact, to get through two traffic lights before reaching the park. The admittance fee is $20 per vehicle. The lights were pretty decent, the best one were the ones that were synced to music such as the trees. At the end, you have the option to exit the park or visit Santa's Village. My nieces wanted to do the latter. We purchased smores and hot chocolate which they enjoyed. There was also a toy shop, petting zoo, and Santa Express train ride. A fun and enjoyable experience for young children. If the park could better manage the bottleneck, it would make a more enjoyable experience for adults too.

Taken from local news outlet: Plans for a new park in Horry County are finally set to begin after an eight-year standstill. County officials said the goal for the future park is to preserve the area's rich history while creating a space for people to enjoy. Huger Park sits just off Carolina Forest Boulevard near the Horry County Recreation Center. It's surrounded by the new growing subdivision called "The Parks," which spans more than 400 acres. Huger Park is dedicated to Revolutionary War Gen. Isaac Huger, the man county officials said was granted the land by the King of England in 1771. The concept revolves around 10 live oak trees estimated to be about 300 years old. The conversation surrounding Huger Park has been on-going for eight years now, when five acres for the park were donated by a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. I did my research ahead of time and knew they were what I was looking for. I wanted a sunrise kayak by experienced people who will not sell me gimmick and promises, just straight up the service I want and preferably a private tour. This last bit, of course, seemed impossible so I would have been willing to settle for non-private until I found their services! Yes, private. As small as 2 people in a tour. For us, it was only my husband and I. Shawn and Toni Rae are fantastic people. I booked ahead of time but was told since I wanted an open ocean kayak, the day could change based on tide conditions which is totally understandable for everyone's safety. Fortunately for us, the whole week was open since we were intending to catch the sunrise and there's nothing to do at 5am anyway. The day of, we drove over to their address, signed waivers, left our things for safe keeping at their house and headed to the beach. After getting our kayaks situated and safety instructions were given, including how to enter and exit the ocean safely, we were off. While we've done kayaking plenty of times on lakes, we've only ever done open ocean kayaking once before this time. Yes, it is more difficult and you do need to follow the instructions so you don't hurt yourself or flip your kayak. Shawn and Toni Rae were very helpful and clear with their instructions. He was also close by to make sure my husband and I got on and passed the waves and paddled safely away from the beach. We waited about 15 minutes before sunrise and he took a bunch of beautiful photos and sent them to us. No additional fees for the photos! After the photos, we headed back to shore and successfully made it back safely. The biggest take away from the experience though was that, it was truly exhilarating. We've both been kayaking on the Pacific ocean before by ourselves but I don't think we would have been brave enough to do it in the dark, before daylight. This experience was truly one of a kind and we had the best time!

Even my friend who paddleboarded…read morebefore learned a lot from Shawn about getting up, balancing, etc. I couldn't figure out if he was a marine biologist, a historian, or a geologist as he knew so much about so many things. I don't need a pretty set of weights to lift. The down side is the cafe is never open when I'm there. I work early morning from 5 to 7ish and it would be nice to sit down and have a cup of coffee and chill out. It does get hot inside during the summer and cold in the winter. This doesn't matter to me but I'm sure many want climate control as comfortable as possible. I like this gym because it's no nonsense.
