They're set up in some of the units is terrible. You can't even get in the tub because of the closed off wall deep not a shower tub but a Jacuzzi tub with a shower in it and then you can't walk up to the shower to rinse because the tub stops you. If you can climb in it. It's 2 ft to get over it. So watch when you book they'll tell you it's because it's the old unit. It hasn't been redesigned as a Wyndham so be careful of this place. I booked through RCI. I have been here before so I knew what to expect. The last time it was Plantation Villas or something to that effect. They changed check in from the front of the building to the back so if you follow gps, turn onto Platt Blvd or you will drive in circles. Easy check in and check out. I called ahead to see if the room was ready. I was able to check in early instead of 4pm. The grounds are taken care of and the resort is clean including the rooms. They fix anything brought to their attention quickly. The outdoor pool is beautiful. Very large and goes to 4.5 feet. There is also a small kids pool and a great hot tub. There is a snack bar at the main pool. Music plays starting from 10am. Pool opens at 7 and closes at 10. I don't think people know because the pool is empty up to 9am. If you want peace and quiet for a little bit, go when they open. Towels are provided for beach and pool. There are events during the week at the pool including a hula and fire show starting at 730pm which runs about an hour. I suggest getting there before 7 and sitting on the side of pool closer to the stage. It's harder to see when people start standing up and blocking the view. There is also a kids pool and play area across from the main pool. There is a lazy river in that area. There is also an indoor pool and game room which I didn't visit. A nice added feature is the beach shuttle. It runs every hour between 9am and 4pm. Return trips are 1015 to 515. It's about a 10 minute ride to the beach. You could drive, it costs $2 per hour for parking at the public beach. I always enjoy my stay here. Would definitely book again. read more

I stayed at Grand Palms in October in a 2b/2ba presidential villa with a friend. We really enjoyed our stay! Our villa was clean and tastefully appointed. Having access to a full kitchen was extremely helpful, especially since my friend had recently had surgery and her diet was limited as a result. A trip to Publix set us up for the week. There are shuttle buses that will take you to the beach and Broadway at the Beach (a massive shopping and entertainment center). We took advantage of both. They have programs offered every day, though a lot of them do have a fee. They have state park passes you can borrow for the day (we grabbed one and headed to Huntington Beach State Park, which I loved!), which is a nice bonus. The pool and hot tub were clean and not crowded (though being there in the fall probably had something to do with that). There was some construction going on across from our villa, but it wasn't terribly noisy. All the staff members we encountered were kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend the Grand Palms Resort! read more

It started with the check in. We requested two rooms together in the same building due to one person in our party having memory issues. She was placed in a totally separate building across the street. We were told there was nothing they could do at the counter. We tried to call the desk twice regarding issues with our room and the tenants above constantly running in their unit until 2:30 am on many occasions. Our calls were not answered, they went to voice mail. I will not stay here again due to the lack of customer service. read more

My very first visit to Surfside was completely ruined by the staff at this resort .I booked my reservation over the phone, with a reservation agent. I was told over the phone that we would be getting the presidential suite with balcony and a jetted tub. Upon arriving after a 3 1/2 hour drive we finally got checked in . When we got to the room it looked nothing like the online pictures, we walked into what look like a closet with a toilet, it was one story, and there was no balcony not even a patio. I tried calling the front desk from the phone in the room and they could not hear me on the other end because the phone wasn't working. I had to make a personal phone call to the resort to let them know they gave us the wrong key, and we were in the wrong room. It was around 8 PM. And it felt like they just did not want to deal with the problem. They told me that they would not be able to upgrade the room unless I was willing to pay an additional $85 I drove all the way back down to the office to pay the fee because at this point, we were tired and wanted to get settled in. I am a Hispanic woman, and my boyfriend happens to be black and Hispanic as a biracial couple we felt immediately profiled when we drove back to pay the additional fee. My boyfriend was a little upset because they didn't wanna give us a refund all we wanted to do was get our money back or have an upgraded room due to miscommunication instead, we were asked to leave the property and denied a defund . I will never come back here nor will I stay at another Wyndham resort. This staff was very unprofessional, and they profiled us It felt like we were in a Third World country. This was my first time visiting, and it was a very unpleasant visit. read more

Timeshare presentation goes bad! August 2024 During our August 2024 stay in Surfside SC @ the grand palm wyndham resort, I was invited for a presentation in exchange for $125.00 in restaurant vouchers during checkin. I attended the presentation at 9am, promised 60 mins meeting. At 11:00 still no price on the "hybrid" version of our Wyndham timeshare. We said that we had a family commitment and had to leave. We were told that in order to get the final information on the price we couldn't leave and come back. But if we left our drivers license, we could come back and get the price a few hours later. So off to the beach, we return 4 hrs later to pick up my drivers license and the price, only to hear that they wouldn't give back the license and didn't have the "price" ready. We had to get verbally aggressive just to get the drivers license back. Still no price. What is told to you is not truthful and when you ask the tough questions the staff gets very rude. Ivy the acting manager said there was no supervisor to talk to. No corporate phone number to call, just a survey to fill out. The salesperson, Duke was insulted by his superior . The superior, Cole was a ridiculous version of a human being. No help and wouldn't get the drivers license. Ivy, the acting manager was terrible and Joe Allen was no better. wouldn't return a phone call after sever attempts to reach him. This was such a bad experience, I would encourage everyone to avoid this hassle and hostage type sales presentation at all cost! the facility itself is a nice place to stay. it's a shame the high pressure tactics to sit through a presentation are so shady. read more

The worst part is that one of our vehicles was broken into and thousands of dollars worth of belongings were stolen. There was a flurry of unloading supplies, all of us helping, and I'm sure one of the itenerants staying in that area saw a few-second opportunity and grabbed 2 backpacks, both containing expensive laptops, and many personal items. I say "itenerant" because we were housed with construction workers and others who were clearly not on vacation. Our party of 12 (All family, all ages) reserved 2 units. We were given units in a trashy area with construction on all sides, the view was mud and debris. We were not given linens for the sofa beds, called for them and were delivered a set for one unit, but not the other. Had to change one unit as the first did not have the 2 double beds we reserved. The outdoor pool and lazy river area were clean enough, but far from the nice pictures on the website. They advertise a pool grill, but it is just snacks, and closed at 4:00 pm. It was a good half mile from our lodgings, so we either had to hike down a hot sidewalk or load up the vehicle just to take the kids down. There was yellow construction tape hanging from a palm tree next to our door, clearly just taken from across the entrance. A broken lawn chair sat in front of the next unit, a big dumpster was parked in front of our rooms. I would not consider this place if you are looking to relax.
