Loved the location! Someone suggested we stay in Surfside area. We did drive Myrtle Beach area but definitely not as nice. This hotel is next to The really nice new pier. Very clean and friendly front desk. We did not go to pool area, too many kids. Location was great. Has several places to eat next to it. Great places to get a drink in the evening. You can walk straight onto beach next to pier, no steps. The hotel has a access but old wooden steps with grass around it to use. Would be great to make a ramp instead. Parking good on both sides of hotel. Most of rooms have a ocean view balcony. Elevator on ground floor to check in on 2nd floor. A few vending things and nice sitting area. Negative was they opened up a drain into the ocean after it had rained. So it made it hard to walk the beach. I had never seen this at another beach. They dug trenches down into sand. Definitely spoiled the beach vibe. read more

We stayed here for one night when we were in Surfside and knew we were going to have a few drinks and didn't want to risk driving home. We booked it online on Labor Day weekend and the price was actually pretty good. We got a partial ocean view and if you go to the window overlooking the parking lot and look to the left you can see I tiny bit of the ocean. The beds were comfortable and the room was quite clean. read more

When I originally made the reservation, I accidentally booked the wrong dates and had to add an additional day later, which created two separate reservations for my trip. The receptionist at the front desk was extremely helpful throughout the process. She made sure we could stay in the same room the entire time and even had us sign all the necessary paperwork in advance so we wouldn't need to come back down later for the final day. Her attention to detail and excellent customer service made our stay much smoother. read more

The hotel is in the heart of the Surfside Beach Entertainment District and has much to do around it. The hotel has a pool, hot tub and a great miniature mart downstairs. The rooms where small but clean. And parking is free. If you are looking to stay near Surfside beach and the new Surfside fishing pier, this is a great place to stay. Highly Recommend!! read more

A wonderful experience! After two nights in the Myrtle Beach Doubletree, I wanted a different experience and found this gem through Expedia with no other information. I count this as one of the best hotel experiences of my life. Check In was quick and painless and even included a gift box of taffy. This took my significant other and I back in time as we're both from the Northeast and remember childhood vacations at the South Jersey Shore. The room, albeit smaller than the one we had our previous nights was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully equipped. Even down to a washcloth designated to remove makeup that really impressed. The balcony was a bit small but we had a wonderful view of the pier and the ocean. Speaking of the pier, do not leave without sampling a couple scoops of the home made ice cream. Its special. While on the pier, we could hear the sound of live music and the establishment next door to the hotel, Scotty's Beach Bar features live music on Sunday afternoons. I'll do a separate review of Scotty's but here will tell you that it's a great place to stop in for an afternoon beverage and great conversation! We will return as our experience was great. read more

Yowsa! We just spent a weekend here visiting our Coastal Carolina University girl, trying something new after many stays on The Strip. Everything about Surfside Beach Oceanfront Hotel is just better, lots better, so so so much better! The front staff, especially Lori, were funny, kind and organized, ready to go with anything and demonstrating hospitality superpowers. When we were early for our rooms, they offered up a safe spot to store our things while we got lunch (and called us as our rooms were ready before we finished). The lobby smells like a spa, and our rooms were clean and nice. A special shout out to Caroline in Housekeeping for her amazingly good karma and positive spirit, too! Within walking distance to many great restaurants, live music and a brand new pier, this place will be our new go-to for our daughter's senior year. Did we mention the beach..... read more

I have stayed at this place several times over the years. The renovation a few years ago was done tastefully and in keeping with the needs of folks staying at the beach (e.g. no carpet in the hallways or rooms--great for sandy feet). Well decorated with large photos of past expressions on this location. Nice. The building is an older design that would no longer be built: long halls, smaller rooms, and balconies that do not face the ocean (side views from each one) and they are rather small. However, for the price it's a prime location, with all the amenities, comfy beds, hot shower, safe/fridge/microwave/coffee maker in the room, plus a large lobby to grab snacks, read the paper, or make some Starbucks coffee for a nominal fee. No breakfast served. The last little nicety was the free box of saltwater taffy upon check-in. My Mom would always buy saltwater taffy when we came to the beach, so this was a warm surprise. I squirreled mine away and later sent it to her as a remembrance of finer days. If you're looking for a solid place to stay, without all the big hotel amenities and swag, I say "give 'em a whirl." Unless you enjoy outdoor karaoke music in your room from Scotty's Beach Bar nextdoor (maybe 50 yards away) every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until midnight, don't stay here. View is nothing to write home about. On the plus side, the place is clean. Odd thing; there is not any furniture in the room to put your clothes... just cubbies. Suggest that all inside and outside pictures by Business Owner on Yelp older than 4-5 years be deleted. They are not truly representative any longer. read more

Clean, nicely renovated rooms on the beach for an unbeatable price. The entire hotel has been nicely renovated, and service was great. They have a convenient self-serve snack area by the lobby and some nice public (guest) seating areas. Secure key-access on the elevator was comforting. The room keys are shell-shaped, which is a cute little bonus. Great location - direct beach access, next to the pier, walking distance to a few restaurants. We paid a little extra for a balcony and a premium view, but I doubt the 'premium' view as worth it. I think you can see the ocean from any room. We could also see the parking lot and some restaurants next door. This is mostly a residential area, so it's generally quiet. Unfortunately, at 4 a.m. both mornings, we heard the backup beeping of the restaurant delivery truck, even with the balcony door closed. Overall, it was clean and inexpensive, and I would stay here again. read more

We love everything about this hotel. It is so clean and beautifully kept, smells amazing, beds are very comfortable. The staff is so pleasant and welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay the best. We park our car upon arrival and never use it until we leave as there are plenty of good restaurants just a few steps off property. The outside pool is well kept with plenty of towels, beach is easily accessible just a few steps from the parking garage. read more

Pros: The staff was very helpful and check in was quick. The lobby area is very clean and coffee and water are available to guests. The beach access is great and there are showers to rinse off the sand as soon as you return. There was an issue with the faucet running, maintenance came right up and checked it within a few minutes and advised it would need to be replaced. He was able to turn it off and it only ran a little bit for the rest of the night. Cons: The room and bathroom in need of cleaning and maintenance. There were hairs, dirt and pink mold in the tub. The wall of the shower enclosure does not meet the tub and there was no caulking to reduce mold growth. The carpet had many stains and felt oily to the touch. My family decided to keep our shoes on at all times. The ice machine had standing water in the tray underneath with what appeared to be floating dirt and dead bugs. read more

Overall a very good value. We stayed here for a week in late July. First - the beach in the area is very nice. One of the better ones in the area. Something I noticed is that the lifeguards are attentive. That's a good thing - they even rescued a member of our group. Specifically a small plastic member (a lego figure) :). The staff is very friendly as well. The pool is also nice when you want to swim without sand. There are some good restaurants within walking distance that are good values as well. So - why not five stars? There were a few things. For one the bar across the parking lot is quite loud in the early evenings. I think they are tied into the hotel. They do karaoke on the weekends and what some of those people do to songs should be grounds for being arrested. Second there were minor issues in the room. The table had a broken leg and was unstable. Not an issue and will likely be repaired in the offseason. The carpet had a few light stains. Also will likely be fixed in the down season. Neither would keep me from coming back. The rooms are a bit small for a family and the balconies are also small and are ocean VIEW, not ocean FRONT. They are on the sides. But if you know this going in then it's no problem. Once again - you must consider the cost of the room and have expectations accordingly. To me the value was right. read more

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and we chose to travel to Myrtle Beach. After researching properties and comments, this was the best choice of stay. PROS Despite the nearby construction on the pier, the hotel was well kept and sanitized. The staff was polite and helpful. The hotel was quiet and peaceful in which was an A+ for me. This hotel seems to attract an older crowd. Our room was cleaned and presentable upon check-in despite being dated. Fortunately, the room came with a refrigerator and microwave. This was another A+ for me considering a lot of places are doing away with them. The location was awesome! We were right on the beach. Although, we didn't have much of an ocean view bc of the construction; the beach was so beautiful and clear. We didn't have to go far to find food since there were several nearby restaurants around the hotel. But we chose to drive about 15 mins to Myrtle Beach to explore more options. CONS I wish the hotel had a gym. We had to improvised to get a good workout in while on vacation. Also, the walls are thin so you can hear people around you. I even heard someone using the bathroom There isn't any room services or complimentary breakfast. Housekeeping only comes when scheduled in which this wasn't a dealbreaker at all. The pool and hot tub are small, so we weren't able to get into them bc they were overcrowded. OVERALL We had a great time! It was fun and relaxing, and the food was tasty! read more

We had prepaid for the hotel two months in advance, my niece was getting married on the beach North Myrtle Beach, anyway we were met a the entrance by car attendant/ parking security to inform us where to park as not to get towed. Went to front desk and received our room keys all information of the keys would work, lobby was nice, there was an area for snacks and basic items if needed to be purchased. Arrived on 7 floor, my key did not work, I think I might have disengaged it by placing with cell phone. Opened door, nice size queen beds, balcony door with partial view of the ocean. They are doing construction of building a pier. This was No fault of hotel. Anyway room was clean, however my wife noticed on one of her pillow cases, there were dark black spots on it. We don't know if they were old or just spots one could not get out! Basic set up, microwave, refrigerator and safe! My wife also thought the carpet seemed stickey on her barefoot. Tv was easy to navigate with DirectTv. The water went from 0-100 degrees in 5 seconds be carful if you have small children. Staff was friendly and attentive to our needs and customers while our stay! read more

We drove up from Charleston because I was craving lunch from my favorite bubbas seafood restaurant. We decided t stay the night and right across the street way this hotel. Reception was really nice and inviting. They had a room looking towards the ocean. A really nice pool area with tables with umbrellas and most importantly access to a bathroom! And a walk directly to the beach where you can rent chairs and umbrellas. Would for sure stay here again. read more

I've never stayed at this hotel, but on the basis of Yelp reviews and that we prefer the Surfside Beach area to Myrtle Beach, we booked a stay here. A couple of days prior to our trip I developed a pinched nerve that limited my mobility and caused pain that would've made our vacation miserable. When we cancelled our reservation I was concerned with being stuck being charged for the five nights. Please understand their cancellation policy gave them every right to do so. They not only cancelled our reservation, they refunded the initial amount required to book our room less a $25 service charge. I can't tell you how much gratitude I have for this hotel. The manager, Kathy, was as professional and generous with her time as it gets, and Monique, the lady who cleaned my room, would be working for me if I were rich enough. I'd steal her away. This place is pretty great. We stayed for 6 nights and had a great time. Check in was a breeze and I never saw the staff in a bad mood. Ever. The housekeeping staff does a fantastic job. My wife will forfeit money and leave a place if it even has a hint of dirtiness. She had no problem here. The underused front patio area is a hidden gem at this place in the morning. They've got coffee on (all day) and sitting out here with a cup of it is fantastic. Like I said, the coffee is never empty here. Big bonus for us because we love our coffee. We had a pretty major emergency while we were here. My 14 year old daughter discovered her doll missing. Now, this may not seem like a big deal but that doll has been with her every single day for 14 years. Every. Single. Day. The only explanation was that it got wrapped up in the sheets. I told the front desk and man, did that place mobilize. There were notes in the computer. Notes in notebooks. Sticky notes. They launched the red alert and never once made us feel like we were overreacting. While we were out the next day they called my cell phone and told us they found her. The way it was described reminded me of that part in Willy Wonka where all the workers were ripping candy bars open and the lady finds the golden ticket. This incident could have destroyed the vacation for us and we will be forever grateful for the way they handled it. Staying here gives you discounts at a few restaurants, discounts at a local gym, free pier access, and discounted rates for umbrella rental at the beach. Every dollar saved on vacation helps. The only negative I have is the room size (hence the four stars). We were a family of 5 so we had to have a junior suite. Concentrate more on the "junior" and less on the "suite". They are small, and tight. Also, the junior suites don't have balconies. Speaking of balconies, none face the ocean. They all face north or south but have good views of the ocean. Over all, this was a great experience and helped to make our trip fantastic. Everything but the room size is 5 stars all the way. This will be our "go to" place whenever we are in SC. read more

We stayed here from May 23, 2015 - May 26, 2015 and had a great experience! The hotel was recently renovated in early spring this year and according to a word of mouth from staff, it should be wrapped up in a week or so. The lobby is beautiful, clean, and very inviting. They had a wide-variety of snacks, toiletries, Starbucks coffee machine, and a few souvenirs for sale. The room we stayed in was classified as a "oceanfront with balcony" room. This was a little misleading because our "oceanfront" room was on the side of the building with a beach view (see uploaded photo to reference). My kingsize bed was very comfortable, I really loved the fluffy pillows. The bathroom did not have a sink or mirror, which I was not a fan of. The bathroom also did not have a ceiling fan/ventilation which surprised me. The room also came with a clean mini fridge that was temperature controlled by the hotel as well as a clean microwave. The hotel does not have a gym but it does have a pool and hot tub, however, I did not go in it. I checked it out at night and it seemed to be very clean and well-maintained. *Note: the pool area closes at 10:00 and they are very strict about this... We tried to smooth talk the employee closing it... And failed.* The location of the hotel was perfect in my opinion. Literally a few steps away from the beach itself. The pier was a huge selling point when choosing a hotel. It is a sight to see and the hotel gives you free daily admission instead of paying $1. There are several bars within walking distance that offer both food and drinks. I noticed a lot of bars mixed drinks were on the weak side, so it might be wiser to salvage the calories and stick to vodka tonic or light beer. The beach itself was very nice. It was not wild and crazy like downtown Myrtle Beach and that's what I loved most. I went on vacation to relax and have a few brewskis on the beach. I did not go on vacation to do kegstands and drink until my face fell off. Surfside beach is much more family orientated and lets hope it stays that way. read more

Had such a wonderful stay here! Love the location. Very clean rooms. I had a double queen room with a balcony facing the ocean. The view is gorgeous. Especially the sunrise. The hotel has been newly remodeled and everything is very clean and nice. I loved the hot tub and the easy access to the beach. There are some great places to eat around the hotel, and they even offer a discount. They have a complimentary pier access, which is also cool. Bill at the front desk was really nice and warm. Short drive away from myrtle beach and from Huntington Beach state park. Totally recommend the place :) read more

We are about to leave this resort and don't want to! It was a wonderful stay! We had a beach day. You can rent an umbrella and two chairs already set up outside on the beach. Which we did! Lots of places to eat. We recommend the diner next door. Great service and food!! As far as the staff at the resort they were great!!! All professional and willing to go the extra mile. So thank you for that. Rooms were a bit small, but hey with so much to do why stay in them??? Suggestion...maybe a corner shelf in the bathroom with racks for wet towels and suits? Extra shelves over entry "cubby" would be great. Parking was not a problem for us. We are already planning that if we come back we would like to stay here. read more

Fantastic service - the the staff went over and above the help us and answered all of our questions, they were very knowledgeable. The rooms were clean and we got a balcony with an ocean view! We have been here 2 times now. Both times we have come the staff have been really helpful and nice. The rooms are always nice and clean. The pool and hot tub are usually open later than hours posted. I would give it 5 stars except for the fact that there were people smoking weed off their balconies pretty much any time i opened the doors to the patio (which is not the fault of the hotel), but it kept me from enjoying the balcony. Other than that, this hotel is a great recommendation. The rooms, bathrooms, lobby, common areas, even the parking lot is very clean. The location is perfectly situated right on the beach, next to the pier. There are a lot of restaurants right next to the hotel that all over a variety of cuisine...so you can walk everywhere. It's far enough from the crowded Boardwalk, yet easily accessible and a short drive to not shopping and whatever else you would need to do. The hotel upgraded our room when we checked in also, which was a pleasant surprise. read more
