I liked the views from the balcony, although, the property was not as handicap accessible as it should be. It was said to be, but wasn't to much. Steps to get to pool, ridiculously large step up into shower. There was an overwhelming smell of weed on the floor to go to rooms and also sometimes in the elevator. The bathroom door had some trouble locking. Also, no handicap lift to pick a disabled person up to put into the pool. Other than that, good for the beach access and views. :) read more

We had a reservation at another property but the pool was under repair so they gave us a space here. The three bedroom 2 bath space was updated and very comfortable but there was a confusion in the cleaning schedule so when we contacted them they changed us to the penthouse. So all in all there were legitimate glitches but they were easy to reach by phone and responsive to making things right/better quickly. The ocean views were fantastic, the access to the beach is super convenient. One of the fire alarm batteries went and again with a phone call someone came right over and fixed it. The beds were comfortable. The washer made a horrific sound but worked, the dryer worked given extra time. read more

(Those of you who have read any of my previous reviews know I am brutally honest.) Let me start out by saying that after reading the website and other reviews, I had higher expectations for this place than what I actually got. We (2 of my closest friends and myself) stayed here the last week in April, 2021. Upon arrival and check in, 1 of the 3 door keys didn't work. Returned to the office and the same key was reprogrammed. Back to the condo and no dice. BACK to the office where they were going to reprogram the same key again so I asked for a new key and was given one. This one worked. Got to the condo. The kitchen was the best looking room. It had updated appliances and countertops, but we did find dirty dishes in the dishwasher. But the rest of the condo was severely aged. The carpet in the bedrooms had seen better days and looked like it hasn't been cleaned in years. There were obvious spots where food/beverage/etc had been dropped/spilled. The bathrooms were nice but no exhaust fans. And the only tv that worked was the one in the living room. The other 3 said something like "account issue, please call the front desk". Good thing I brought my Apple TV. The resort does have wifi, but it's an unprotected public wifi. Better use a good VPN. (shameless plug for NordVPN here) Interesting discovery when I got to my room, the master bedroom. The door frame looks like it's about come out of the wall, and I find the remains of a blunt on my nightstand. And deciding to look under the bed, I find a "Happy New Years" necklace, so that tells me the area under the beds hasn't been touched since before New Years. What year? We don't know. Another interesting thing is the paperwork I was given clearly says to call the front office and let them know you have trash that needs to be picked up. So I call the front office........several times.......and never get an answer. (as a side note, when I went back to get the room key reprogrammed I did notice the phones were ringing like crazy and nobody was answering them) So one morning housekeeping calls and asks if we need anything. I said nothing but trash pickup. I was told to leave it outside the door and they would pick it up. About an hour later we get a knock on the door from the groundsperson who informs us WE have to take the trash to the dumpster. I tell him we were told my housekeeping to place it outside the door. His reply was "I don't think they know what's going on around here". WOW, really? About midweek I get an alert from my CC company of an unusual pending charge and wanted to know if I made it. I called my CC company and it was a duplicate charge for the weeks rate. I told them I did not make it and they declined the charge. Then I went to the office to request a record of the charges made on my card. There were two pending $363.86 charges that I did not authorize. So I called my CC company back and told them not to approve any further charges from this resort. Again, I had higher hopes for this place than what actually transpired. I normally like to try a place out a second time if I have a bad experience the first time, but this may be one time I decide to not do that. I'm not sure I would feel comfortable staying here a second time. One last thing. Don't use the images you see on their website as a determining factor. What you see is not what you get. read more

This place is good. The contact is fast back and forth. Easy check in and out. We had room 402. The kitchen is great. Very well stocked. It is very pretty and up-to-date. The bathrooms could use major remodeling. They are very dated. The furniture in the living sits low. So for older people it is hard to get off of. The veiw of the ocean is perfect. The pool was warm. The grounds around the building are well kept. The elevator need to be up-to-dated. They work fine just look old and rough. Overall for a week. The condo was great to stay. Very close to everything. Our family trip wasn't ruined by this place but definitely didn't make it better. I guess you can say the elevators are nice. The parking lot you will probably find a spot if not they have spill over parking. The unit we had was very out dated and needs real work. We have silverware for a family of 4. While this place would probably hold 8+ easily. Dirty dishes and kitchen. It did have a nice refrigerator. But it's like they want you to eat out and not use the unit. To get extra trash bags and towels we had to call 6 times and stop over 4 times. And this was over about 4 days. Only the tv in the living room works. All other tvs didn't have remotes. Beds are small and uncomfortable. I had the privilege to have 1 warm shower over a whole week. Furniture looks like it hasn't been updated in a very long time. I would say the pool could be bigger to support the large groups staying in the resort. Paint is chipping and cabinets need fixed. I would look into updating this unit. Simple things could be changed to make it an easy 4 star. But this unit gets a 2 at best. read more

The Carolina Dunes condos are a great place to stay at Myrtle Beach. Our family rented 3 different condos and we all loved our place. The rooms all looked directly over the ocean. There was always someone around if we had any questions. The pool area was so clean and quiet. I would highly recommend the Carolina dunes. read more

Very beautiful property! You can maximize your beach time because all units are ocean front! Need to pop in for a snack while on the beach you are an easy walking distance back to your unit. There is no street to cross or hot pavement in your way. The units ( we stayed in 605 BEAUTIFUL) are large and updated with a breezy beach feel. Once you stay at Carolina Dunes you won't want to stay anywhere else while in Myrtle Beach. Another pro is you are away from the heavier traffic of the boardwalk it's quieter and cleaner on the beach. Yet, you are not too far from great seafood , grocery stores and mini golf! We LOVED our vacation and stayed in Unit 406 which was lovey! The views of the ocean from the 4th floor apartment unit were breathtaking!! Sitting there having coffee each morning and a cocktail in the evening was just what the what we needed to decompress from a busy Work atmosphere. We enjoyed walking the beach for shark teeth (which we found some of) and classic shells. The accommodations were excellent!! We plan to return again in the near future!! We highly recommend Unit 406 as it faces the ocean, yet the terrace offered both shade and sun. No complaints on this choice!! read more

When we arrived at our condo, we noticed the front door of the condo at one point or another had been busted down which was evident by the poor repair of the door, lock, and molding. This immediately made us uneasy and questioning our safety and security of our condo and the entire building. When we walked inside, we were overcome with fumes from bleach and other cleaners. The fumes were so strong it stung our eyes, noses, made our eyes and faces swell up and resulted in me having a bloody nose. It was so bad we couldn't even stay in the room and had open all the doors and go back outside. Right away we realized that the images posted on all the listings sites for this condo were altered to make the space look bigger and better. Completely unbelievable. In the kitchen the washer, dryer, toaster, and refrigerator were all rusty and dented, had crusty food stuck to the counter, dirty oven, and the microwave had sticky stuff on it. This is completely ridiculous considering the listing said it was "newly renovated" and "completely remodeled." The kitchen light wasn't even securely/fully attached to the ceiling and the kitchen vent was rusty and poorly attached to the wall as well, which in the photos shown online it looks brand new. There are stains all over the doors, floor, and walls. The cable outlet in the master bedroom was not secured to the wall and the entire outlet/socket was exposed and posed an electrical hazard. The wooden molding was all stained and filthy too. A piece of it was even coming up off the floor in the hallway. The condo description states there are hardwood floors, the floors are made from fake wood. Kitchen chairs and furniture were worn and stained. On the balcony everything was rusting and pieces were falling off and the worst part was that the railing wasn't sturdy. You could simply push on it and it would move. It could easily give way if enough weight was leaning against it which is completely unsafe for everyone, especially young children. Then, in the bathrooms, there was black mold on top of the showers and gross yellow putty gunk on the wall by the towel holder like someone tried to fill in a hole and failed, hair on the bathroom floors. The bathrooms were not newly renovated, they only replaced the counter tops, the rest of the bathroom still has the 1980's pink plastic bathtub stalls. These are just some of many things that were wrong with this condo. The owners have not been attentive at all in maintaining this "luxury" condo to the standards one would think especially when Luxury Beach Rentals uses the following words and statements to describe this condo; * Luxury * Newly renovated * Completely remodeled * Oversized * Beautiful updated condo * Updated 3 bedroom.... * Private over-sized balcony This condo was 100% falsely advertised/marketed as a luxury, newly updated, oversized, hand-picked beautiful condo. When I finally got a hold of someone at the emergency number, I was shocked and completely dismayed when they refused to honor what their employee told us, that we would receive 100% refund. I was in tears! How do I tell me kids, that after our 16+ hour drive from Wisconsin to South Carolina, that we will have to turn around and drive 16 hours back home all because Luxury Beach Rentals falsely advertises their vacation rentals? read more

My husband and I spent 10 days at Carolina Dunes unit 504 and we had a very enjoyable time. We had been coming to CD for 6 years and are pleased with all of the updates to the building and grounds that we have seen over the years. The heated pool was a plus! The views are spectacular. We see dolphin every time we come. The unit was clean and well stocked with everything that we needed. The property manager is very attentive to any needs. If something should break or need replacing, they are right on it. I want to note that although the Caravelle may advertise this building as one of their own, as one reviewer suggested, it is not a Caravelle property. Each unit is independently owned. We stayed in unit 101. It has a urine smell that we complained about since the 1st day. The balcony door is rusty and the ceiling is patched. The curtains are dusty, the beds sofa was uncleaned, the beds were old and hard and taped with duct tape, and the showers were old. Also they had to replace the refrigerator because it wouldn't cool our food. Because everywhere else in myrtle beach was booked, we had to stay here 7 days. read more

We spent a week here in one of the Penthouse condos. The decor was very dated, ala 1990s. It looked like the walls hadn't been painted since the 90s either. The towels and linens were incredibly cheap, very thin and scratchy. There were dirty dishes in the cabinet (two wine glasses with lipstick on them). There was what looked like mold around all of the air vents. The pros: Beautiful view, great location, very quiet condo, great beach access. Rented a 2 bed/2 bath condo for Thanksgiving week. We needed BIG kitchen since we were going to be cooking a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. This place lived up to the good reviews I found online. The kitchen was huge for a condo (although not very well stocked with plates and pots...I'm glad I assumed t would not be well stocked and brought my own cookware). The coffee maker was toast when we arrived, but within a few minutes of calling down to the front desk, housekeeping had brought a new coffee maker. It was clean enough when we got there (although I always clean the crap out of hotels when I arrive) and the tile floor in our condo was nice to have since it's easiest to get sand off of. The condos are all individually owned so renter beware, some of these have not been updated. I specifically asked for an updated room and the first room we were given was not updated (the woman checking me in was new) however a manager on duty switched our room and it was fine. We didn't try out the pools this visit since it was November and they were doing construction on the Caravelle so we did not wander over there so I can't speak to those facilities. Washer and dryer were nice to have also (some units have smaller stacked washer/dryer and others like ours have full size washer/dryer). Definitely recommend this place in the off season. Would like to check it out during peak season. PS Surfside Beach had a 5k on Thanksgiving morning that was a blast and only 30 minutes away from the hotel. read more
